(Goddess Radha   is mentioned in many places in the Vedas  .In most of the north Indian schools of Vaishnavism , it is she who  controls  even  lord  Krishna herself. Bhagwatha    describes  a  Radha    who was a  daughter  of  Another Gopa chieftain called Vrishabanu. Though she was  Lord Krishna’s best friend while he was in Brindavan, when he left   to Mathura and to Brindavan  he did not  take her with him. Her worship of Lord Krishna can be described as Prema Bhakthi- The devotion through love  .The devotion to her got a great fillip  due to  the  great popular work of devotion   called Geetha Govindam by  poet Jayadeva. To  those who believe in Radha   , Lord Krishna cannot exist   without Radha and so the worship of Radha Krishna became very popular . It is told  about Goddess Radha that 

“Devi Krishna mayi proktha,

Radhika Para Devatha ,

Sarva Lakshmi maya sarva ,

Kanthi sammohini para”

Meaning

“That Radha    who is the divine Godess,

Is pervaded  all over by Lord Krishna,

She also is completely Lakshmi the  goddess of wealth,

And she attracts   all  beings    by her  luster”

She is also considered by these devotees as   more important than the eight queens of Krishna .

But  strangely in south India all    ancient temples  do not consecrate  Radha as the  consort of Vishnu in any temple . In Tamil Nadu it is Aandal,  called also as Nappinnai  or Godha  , who  is the epitome of Prema  Bhakthi  and  she is consecrated   in very many temples in Tamil Nadu. In  the  south Indian Bhajana Sampradhaya  which possibly came from the Bhakthi traditions of north , Goddess Radha   is given lot of emphasis and a Radha Krishna  worship has taken root in the south also.  Let us with love   worship Radha Krishna , the epitome  of love .)
