(God Sathyanarayana is another form of Lord Vishnu.He too has four hands but  by the hand in which lOrd Vishnu   holds the lotus flower   he shows  the sign of blessing. HE is considered as the embodiment of truth Normally pooja is performed by him in the homes on the full moon day, after  observing penance throughout the day. After the pooja    the  story of how  Lord Sathyanarayana   helped  his devotees  is read to the audience and then Prasada   distributed and partaken . The Sathyanarayana vrutha is observed  maily in Karnataka , Andhara, Telengana , Gujarat , Bengal,. Orissa , Maharashtra   and Goa.It is believed that  the penance and the pooja help  the devotees to overcome all adversities and resolve all problems. Apart from the full moon day , it is common to observe  during all joyful  auspicious occasions .It is believed that  if you are invited for a pooja, you have to attend and should not return without eating the sweet dish offered to God. It is interesting to note that each of the 108 names of this Ashtothara  has “sathya(truth) “ as a part of it.
