(Goddess  Varahi  is a Goddess   with the head of a boar.  She plays along with saptha Matrukas (Brahmi, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Maheswari   Iyndri, Varahi and  Narasimhi)  a major role in the  killing of Shumba and  Nishumbha in the famous  epic book “Devi Mahatmyam. There she is considered as the   feminine power of Lord Varaha an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Some people also believe that  Varahi is   the consort of lord Varaha  and  the Vaishnavite  worship this aspect of her . Later  In the book Devi Mahatmya, the  Goddess CHamunda says that   all these feminine aspects are   her only. That  way we can consider her   as  only a foprm of Goddess  Durga. Thus shaivites worship her as an incarnation  of Goddess  Parvathi   and worship her. Unlike  other forms of Parvathi,  Varahi  is  a goddess   with terrible power   and is considered as having capable of  giving occult powers. This way   the  Saktheyas   meditate and worship her   to get occult powers.

    She is  normally depicted as a very ferocious God  and  she is the guard  of the 16^th circle of the Sri Chakra  as a commander under the control. Her devotees  consider that   she would drive away all evil forces  including black magic  done by others and protect them. There are many temples   devoted to her all over India.)
