Jagannatha  Panchakam
(The pentet on Lord Jagannatha)

(Lord Jagannatha    along with his elder brother  Bala Rama  and Sister  Subhadra  is worshipped   in the temple at  Puri Jagannath. ,This  place is called as Niladri (Blue mountain in the  Jagannath cult  of Vaishnavism.,It is interesting to note that  Saint Ramanuja    , the founder of Visishtadvaitha   and Adhi Sankara  the founder of Advaitha   had  visited Puri and  each of them established  a Mutt there. ,Initially  the temple had a  deity called Nila Madhava  but later  was replaced by  Jagannath at  Nilanchal  . This Panchaka  in Deva Nagari script   can be seen  in

1.Rakthamboruha   darpa banjana  maha soundarya   nethra dhvayam,
Muktha  hara   vilambi hema makutam , rathnojjwalath kundalam  ,
Varsha  megha samana  Neela vapusham  graiveya   haranvitham,
Parswe  chakra dharam prasanna vadanam    neeladri nadham Bhaje.

1.I sing about  the   lord  of blue mountains   who has  a pair of eyes,
Which are  very pretty   and destroy the pride   of red lotus  flowers,
Who  wears a  peral necklace  , gold   crown  and shining  gem studded ear globes,
Who has the colour of the blue   water rich clouds, who  wears  garlands  ,
Who holds the  divine wheel on his side   and who has  a o pleasing face.

2.Phullendhivara lochanam, nava Ghana shyamabhirama kruthim,
Viswesam   kamala viilasa   vilasad   padaravinda   dhwayam,
Daithyari   sakalendhu  manditha mukham   chakrabja  hastha  dwayam,
Vandhe   sri purushothamam , prathi dhinam Lakshmi  nivasalayam.

2.I  daily  salute  the greatest Purusha  living in the home of Lakshmi,
Who has eyes  like the fully opened  blue lotus flowers, who is very pretty  with deep blue black colour,
Who is the lord of the universe,  who has two shining  lotus  feet , who  appears  like a lotus,
Who is enemy of Rakshasas, Who has a face  which is like full moon  and who holds  the conch and wheel in his two hands.

3.Udhyan neeradha   Neela sundara  thanum , poornendu  bimbananam,
Rajeevothphala  nethra  yugalam  , karunyavaaram nidhim,
Bhakthanam   sakalarthi nasanakaram  , chintharthi chinthamanim,
Vandhe sri puroshothamam  prathi dhinam   neeladri choodamanim.

3,I salute    daily that great Purusha who is the shining brooch of the  blue mountain,
Who has a pretty body like   the rising cloud , Who has a face like the full moon,
Who has two eyes which are like  fully open lotus flowers, Who is the treasure  house of mercy,
Who  destroys all problems of his devotees  and who is the gem of thought  to those   who want to think about him.

4.Neeladrou Shankha madhye   satha dala  kamala, Rathna simhasanastham ,
Sarvalangara  yuktham  nava  Ghana  ruchiram  samyutham chagrajena  ,
Bhadraya vama bhage   radha charana yutham  , Brahma rudrendra  vandhyam,
Vedaanaam saram  eesam   sujana  parivrutham   Brahma dharum Smarami  .

4.I  think about the God who is the  essence of Vedas , who is surrounded by good  people,
Who is   the tree of Brahma   , who sits on the gem studded  throne   , in between,
A lotus with hundred petals   which is in between the  conch of   the blue mountain,
Who is  fully decorated , who  is like a brilliant new cloud  , who is along  with his elder brother  ,
 Who  keeps his feet on the left side  of the chariot  and who is saluted by Lord Shiva   and Lord Brahma.

5.Dhorbhyam shobhitha langalam   sasumalam  kadambari chanchalam,
Rathadyam   vara  kundalam   buja balai rakantha bhoo mandalam,
Vajrabha amala charu   ganda yugalam   , Nagendra   choodojjwalam,
SAngrame  Chapala,  Sasanka dhavalam    sri Kama palam Bhaje.

5. I sing about   the lord who is indecisive  in battles  , who is as white as moon  and  who  guards the  God of love ,
Who keeps  the   anchor along  with the club  with great speed  and made the    koel very nervous,
Who wears the  gem studded  blessed ear globes , Who by his prowess   is the lord of the world,

Who has  two pretty cheeks  which shine like diamonds and who shines like the Gem  of the king of serpents.
