Ashtakshara  Manthra  of Swami Raghavendra

(Based  on a book Sri raghavendra   stotra mala  published   by Giri traders. “One who recites the  ashtakashara mantra everyday with complete bhakthi and devotion on rayaru, will get all their wishes fulfilled and there is no doubt or question in that ” Millions of people are benefited by chanting this mantra.)

The  Ashtakshara  manthra (eight lettered chant ) of Raghavendra  is   “Om Sri Raghavendraya nama” . It is  believed   that by chanting   this manthra   with  faith , you will get   all that  you desire .
It can also be   chanted  by ladies  in the form “Srim sri Raghavendraya nama “

But  if it is going  to be chanted  by males  , there  is procedure(For ladies there is no procedure)

1.Nyasa  Procedure

Chant
ASya  Sri Raghavebndra  ashtakshara  Maha  manthrasya

Appannacharya  Rishi- the sage of  the  manthra  is Appanacharya
Sri Ramachandro devatha-The god addressed  is Sri Ramachandra
Gayathri    chandha-the  meter  is Gayatri

Sri Raghavendra  gurvnthargatha  bharathi  ramana mukhya prananthargatha, sri Ramachandra   preethyarthe   jape   viniyoga

This  is  being chanted  to please  Sri Ramachandra who is  is inside  Madhwacharya   who  is inside  Guru Raghavendra

Om Srim  Angushtabhyam  nama (Touch the thumb by pointing  finger)

Om Raghavendraya  tharjineebhuyyam nama ( Touch the  pointing  finger  by the thumb)

Om nama  madhyamaabyaam nama(Touch the  right  finger  by the thumb)

Om nama srim anamikabhyaam  nama(Touch  the right   ring finger   by the thumb)

Om Raghavendraaya  kanishtikaabhyam nama(Touch the right  little   finger  by the thumb)

Om nama  karathala  kara  prushtaabhyaam nama(Touch the left hand  by the right hand)

Om sreem hrudayaya  nama(Touch the chest  by the right   hand)

Om Raghavendraya    sirase   swaha(touch the  head by the tight   hand)

Om nama shikayai vashat(Touch the  back of the head   by the right  hand)

Om sreem kavachata  hoom(Touch the right hand by left and left   by right)

Om Raghavendraya nethra  thrayaya voushat (Touch the centre of the   eyes  by right had)

Om nama  asthraya  phat     (Touch the left palm with  pointer finger   and  middle finger  of right  hand)

 Ithi dik bandha  (Encircle the head in clock wise  direction by  right hand)

2.Dhyanam

Thaptha  kanchana  sankaasam , akshamalaa  kamandalu,
Dhobhyaam dhadhaanaam  kashaya  vasanam  rama  manasam,
Yogeendra theertha vandhyangees thulasi dhama  bhooshitham
Jnana bakthi thapa  poornam  dhyayeth  sarvartha sidhaye

With   colour  of molten gold   weari  chain of beads , holding    the water pot 
Wearing   the ochre   cloths, having   Lord  Rama  in his mind,
Is the  Yogeendra   theertha  who salutes  the  home of Thulasi   Maata,
And he   is filled   with devotion  and knowledge    and full of penance  ,
And by meditating  on him    we will get   everything 

3.Japam –chant 108 times
“Om sri Raghavendraya  nama om”

There is a line in Sri Raghavendra sthothram
“ishtarthaa syu na samsaya”
Means “one who chants Raghavendra sthothram is blessed with all their wishes come true. There is no doubt in that”
“Sri Raghavendraya Namaha”
There are totally 8 letters in Sanskrit for this mantra. This is called as Ashtakshara mantram.
Ladies can chant this sloka by adding srim at the beginning
“Srim sri Raghavedraya namaha”
Men can chant this sloka by prefixing om
“Om sri raghavendraya Namaha”
Pala sthuthi of chanting ashtakashra mantra
om sri raghavendraya namaha | ithi ashtakashara mantratha|
jabithath bhaavithath nithyam | ishtaartha syu na samsaya||

  1. Swamigaley namaskaragalu 🙏 can I get your phone number so that i can ask you in detail my doubts regarding the procedure. I am a relatively new entry into this so I have some small doubts. Like whether we need to read astakshara stotre before doing this procedure which you have stated here. Also the ending part I need some small clarification. Is this to be done daily or weekly and at what time etc. What are the benefits of doing this with devotion. Kindly advise.
