This is  the prayer  of Savithri  the wife  of Sathyavan  addressed  to Goddess Savithri to avoid  Widowhood for her.All married women are  requested to chant this prayer   once a day  , at a time   which is convenient  to them:-

Omkara  poorvike devi, veenaa  pusthaka   dharini,

Veda mathar namasthubhyam  avaidhavyam  prayachame

Oh Goddess  who is before Om , who holds  the Veena   and the book,

I salute  you who is the  mother of Vedas  and request you grant me   absence  from widowhood

Pathi vruthe  maha bhage barthuscha priya vadhini,

Avaidhavyam cha   saubhagyam  dehi thwam  mama   suvruthe

Puthra pouthramscha saukhyam cha soumangalyam   cha   dehi may

Oh  Virtuous  Goddess  who is very lucky, who is interested in welfare  of her husband,

You please  give me prosperity  and absence from widowhood, Oh Goddess  who  does  good penance  ,

Grant me  well being of my children and grand children  as well as  absence from widowhood
