Guru Dhyana  Sloka

(A prayer  to the Guru  of Sringeri peetam)

1.Gurur  Brahma  Gurur Vishnu , Gurur Devo Maheeswara,

Guru saakshaath  param brahma thasmai sri Gurave nama

Guru is Brahma, Vishnu and the great Maheswara,
Guru is the real Brahman and so I salute the Guru.

2.Sadhashiva  samarambhaam , sankaracharya  madhyamam,

Asmad   Aacharya  paryantham vandhe   guru paramparaam.

Beginning with  Lord Sadhashiva , Swami  Sankaracharya  in the middle,

Till  it reaches  Our Guru, We salute   the clan   of Gurus

3.Sruthi smruthi puranaanamalayam Karunalayam,

Namami Bhagwatpadam Shankaram Loka Sankaram.

I salute Shankara who is known as Bhagawat pada,
Who is the store house  of Sruthi, Smrithi and Puranas,
And is the one who does good to all people.

4.Kailasachala  madhyastham   kamithaabheeshta  dhayakam,

Brahmadhi   prarthana   praaptha divya  manusha vigraham 

He who is  in the middle of Kailasa  mountain,   who can fulfill  chosen desires,

Who got a divine human form as per  the prayer  of Lord Brahma.

Bhakthanugrahanai  ekanthaa santha  swantha   samujjwalam

SAmyajnam   samyamindraanaam   saarva   bhoumam   jagad gurum,

For the sake  of blessing of Devotees ,he was lonely  , peaceful , shining  towards his own end,

Having good qualities  , controlling  even Indra, great lord  and Guru  of the world,

Kinkari bhootha    bakthaina, panka  jathi  viseshanam.,

Dhyaayaami   SAnkaracharya  , sarva  lokaika   sankaram.

He   was  extolled  as  the  lotus like controller of  the salave like ghost,

And I meditate   on  The Sankaracharya, the sankara  of all the worlds.

5.Prahladha  vardho devo yo nrusimha  paro   hari,

Nrumsimhopasakam  nithyam   tham  nrusimha    gurum bhaje

The God who   blessed  Prahladha as  Lord Narasimha   an incarnation of Vishnu,

And he was  doing penance on Narasimha and I worship that  Guru   who is like Narasimha.

6.Sri sachidananda shivabhinavya nrusimha –bhaarathyabhidhaan yatheendraan.

Vidhya nidheen   manthra  nidheen  sadathma nishtaan    bhaje  manava shambhu roopaan.

The king  of saints, was named as  sri sachidananda    shivabhinaya Bharathi,

He was a treasure of knowledge and manthras anfd   he  with great discipline  ,

The  human form of lord  Shiva  fervently.

7.Sadathma dhayana niratham  vishayebhya paraangmukham,

Naumi   sastreshu  nishnaatham , sri  Chandra   shekara  bharathim.

He was always meditating on good souls  , was disinterested in  material things,

And I salute the one who was disciplined form of sasthras, the Sri Chandra  Shekara  Bharathi

8.Vivekinam   maha prajnam Dhairyaadhaarya   kshmaanidhim,

Sadhaa abhinava poorvam  tham  vidhyatheertha  gurum bhaje.

The greatly knowledgeable  one among the wise, who was courageous as well   treasure of patience,

He was always   fresh and modern and I worship that  Vidhyatheerthaa.

9.Om Rathna garbha  ganesaanaam   Chandra  moulincha   Saaradhaam,

Vidhyaa theertham  gurum chaiva bharathi theerthamasraye.

We are surrendering   toRathna garbha  ganesa  , Chandra  mouleeswara  , Saradha  ,

Guru  Vidhyatheertha   as well as bharathi theertha.

10.Ajnanam   jaahnavi  theertham , vidhyaa  theertha  vivekinam,

Sarveshaam sukhadham  theertha bharathi theertha maasraye.

The ignorant   will surrender to water  of ganges, the wise   to Vidhya theertha,

And  all thoise comfortable   to Swami  Bharathi theertha.

11.Bharathi karunaa  paathram , bharathi padha  bhooshanam,

 Bharathi padmaaroodam   bharatheerthamaasraye

Swami Bharathi theertha   is   the  object  of mercy of Goddss  Saraswathi,

The ornament    to her feet  and  salutes her feet   and we surrender  to him.

12. Yasya  sandarsanam  punyam smaranam bhagya dhayakam,

Tham vandhe  bharathee  theerths  sishya chithaapahaarakam.

Visiting him  is a blessed act, thinking   about him  would grant luck,

And so I salute  Bharthi theertha  and his disciples who seal  the mind.

13,Vidhyaa vinaya sampannam  veetha ragam  vivekinam,

Vandhe  vedantha   thathwajnam , vidhu shekara  bharathim.

He is wise , possesses humility,  free of passion , wise,

And I salute   the Vedic philosopher , Vidhu shekara  Bharathi

Om karomi   kaayena thwaangri sevaam  braveemi  vachaa  thava punyanamaa.

Dhyaayaami  moorthim  thava hruthsarojo prassedha   seegram  yathi raja  maahyam.

Om I will do service  with my body, I will chant by words    the holy name,

I will meditate  on his form , Oh king of saints  be pleased with me speedily
