BHagawatha  Keerthanam in Malayalam

(This is a prayer based  on Bhagawatha and is given in the  Bhagawatha book in Malayalam By Thunjathu Ezhuthachan. It is not clear  as to who wrote it)

1.Achyuthananda  Bhoothaa, Viswathmaka,

Sachidananda vigraha  Saswathaa,

Thwacharithram  anu dhinamnaavinaal,

Ucharikkenam , Krishna. Hare  Jaya

Oh  joy filled  Achyutha, soul of all  beings of this universe,

He who has form of divine joy, who is  eternal,

By my toungue ,  daily  I should , chant,

Your story , hail  Krishna  , Hari

2.Aapadhaazhiyil   veenu uzhannidum,

Papa sesha parithaptha maanushar,

Gopika pathe  ninne  smarikkumo,

Swa aapthingalium  Krishna  hare jaya

Those who have fallen and going round in ocean of  danger,

The  humans   who are tormented  for the remnants  of sin in them,

Oh Lord of Gopis, would they  remember  you,

Even in their  own danger , Hail Krishna  Hari

3.Indiraa kadakshathaal dhanaagamam,

Chandra bimbasyamaar than samagamam,

Mannil ee randumallathe manusharkku,

Onnil illa  icha,  Krishna  Hare  Jaya

Income  of money by  the look of  Goddess Lakshmi,

The meeing with moon faced   damsels  ,

Except   these   in this world,Man,

Does  not have a wish  , Hail  Krishna  Hari

4,Esawarchanam , nama  sankeerthanam,

Saaswatha  Aananda moksha  sampadanam,

Vvasathu mithu chinthippathillaathi-

Llaswasikkan,  Krishna  Hare  Jaya

Worship of God,  singing  of his names,

Permanent joy and earning of salvation,

These  things   to think  of  to get solace

 They do not have time  ,Hail Krishna   Hari

5.Uthoro   saapisachithan   badhaayaal,

Chuthuvaar  meyyin vaazhchayum veezhchayum,

Neerile  pola poalenna  vaasthavam,

Chethumorkkumo , Krishna  Hare Jaya

Due  to  the  curse  of  the near  ghosts,

People   get in to trouble due to  high and down in life ,

The fact that  it is like the bubble   in water,

Will  they ever think, Hail Krishna Har1

6.Oonamenniye  dukhapa  santhiye,

Thanaho  sukham yennu  manikkuvor,

Maanushar  ariveelaho nithya-

Sathyananda  Sukham, Krishna  Hare jaya

Without deficiency, believing   that  coming down of  sorrow,

Is   real pleasure is done  by many  people and,

Those men do not know the forever ,

Pleasure  of   true joy, Hail Krishna Hari

7.Yethra janmam aarjichu punyathinaal,

Athra  maanusha  janmam  labhichathum,

Vyarthamaakkunnu  , samsara  mugdharaam,

Marthya  jeevikal,  Krishna  Hare  Jaya

The number  of births that  we got  due to blessed deeds,

We should   get them as   birth    as human being,

And this is being wasted by   human beings,

Who  have escaped  Karma, Hail  Krishna  Hari

8.Ezhu randu  ulakaalunna  thamburaan,

AAzhi varnan,  anaghan  paran  pumaan,

Choozh vinakal ozhichu palikkayi,

Parine  nithyam , Krishna Hare  Jaya

The God who rules   over these  fourteen worlds,

Who is of the colour of the sea, one without stains, divine great one,

Avoiding the  karmas  surrounding  us is,

Ruling over this world daily , Hail Krishna  Hari

9.Ihika sukhathil yillasa may ,

Ihikamathu  nithyamallethume,

Sauhithipradham  thwalpadham nalki maam,

Paahi lokesa Krishna  Hare  Jaya

I do not have   desire on worldly pleasures,

For worldly things   are  not forever  ,

By giving your foot which grants  happiness,

Please  look after me , Oh Lord  of the world, Hail  , Krishna Hari

10Ottu arinjum    ariyaatheyum  pala,

Mattil jnan  cheittha  papangal  okkeyum,

Nashtamaakane nin krupaa pornamaam,

Drushti  paathathaal  , Krishna  Hare  Jaya

Without   knowing  and sometimes knowing,

All the sins that  I have    done  in various ways,

May  please  be wiped out   by your  fully merciful,

Looks  , Hail Krishna  Hari

11.Om ithi khyaathamaaya  veeryaaksharam,

Nama  manthra  parisudha  Pallavam,

Kama mothuvaan yennullu  unaranam,

Sri  Manohara  Krishna  Hare   Jaya

The powerful  and famous  letter “Om”,

Is  the manthra of name which is pure new growth

Let my mind wake up to say about love

Hail pretty  Krishna  , Hari

12.,Oukshavahabhyar   polum  bhava jagat,

Saakshi bhootha vibhuthikallu   aspadham,

Sookshma thathwam anveshichu  uzhaluvor,

EEkshana vyagrm , Krishna hare  jaya

Even those   who  are carried  by the bull are dependent  ,

On your powers   as   witness  to all beings,

And those  struggle searching for micro  principles,

Are restless   even now  , Hail Krishna  Hari

13,Ambhudhabhamaam   kayavum kesavum,

Kambhu sobhamaam kayyumakkandaavum,

Ambujalasanethravum hasthavum,

Munnil thonnenam Krishna  Hare  Jaya

With the body and hair  like   the colour of the cloud,

And the arms  as well  the neck shining  like conch,

And the eye   and hand    like lotus flower,

You should appear  before me, Hail  Krishna Hari

14 Akkulir mathi  keerotha  phalavum,

Yel kusuma  sukumara  nasavum,

Mugdhamalyapeethambaraadhyangalum,

Nithyam   thonnanam  Krishna  hare  jaya

With  forehead like  the cool moon’s crescent,

With nose like the flower of gingelly,

Wearing garland   and pretty yellow   silk,

You   should appear  before me daily, Hail  Krishna  Hari

Second  Chapter

1.Kamalasana thathande  kadhamrutha-

Sukha panam, sura  dharu  samaanam,
SAkalaasaasaadhakam   yennullthu,

Karuthuka    chithe Narayana  Jaya

The drinking   of nectar  like stories of ,

The grandpa sitting on a lotus flower,

Is like  drinking of Soma of devasand ,

Fulfills   all  desires , remember this  , Hail  Narayana

2.Kaamaadhyarika;   mana  thelivinnoru,

Dhoomavaranam   athu   aasu kalanjaal,

Thaan aaranu  yennulla  yadharthatha,

Kaanaam  appol Narayana  Jaya

The curtain  of passion  are  a curtain of smoke  ,

To the clarity  of mind and if that  is thrown away,

We   will be able   to see  the truth  ,

Of who    we are  , Hail  Narayana.

3.KInchana  chintheeceedukil  manushan-

Nu yenthoru saukhya  vicharam yihathil,

Kincha   durantha niranthara dukhani-

Bandhaname gathi  , Narayana jaya

If you think a  little    how much  ,

Does  a man think  about  pleasant life,

The only way   is to permanently ,

Stop   worrying  , Hail  Narayana.

4.Keezh mel  abhimanikkuka, yennoru.

Paazh  vina choozhina  manusha  vrundham,

Keezh mel ariyukil , anne  pom athu,

THazhum ahammathi  , Narayana jaya

The human group is surrounded  by a bad ,

Habit  of being   proud  , top to bottom,

If you  know  top to bottom, that will go,

Sameday and bad habits  will go down, Hail  Narayana

5.Kunthi sutha  raghu  rajaadhiklude,

Chenthi vinakal  padikkum  manuja,

Rkkenthee amala bandoth   gatha  nirvruthi,

Chinthikkumbol  ,  Hari  Narayana   jaya

Oh people who read   about   the very bad fate.

Oh the kings   who were   the sons of Kunthi,

Why should people have  this mountain like joy,

When we   think about it  ,Hail  Hari  Narayana

6.Koo koo kuyil nadham , kulur   vaatham,

Rakaasasi  muthalaaya   sahayam,

Cherum manangan thaan yijjada janam,

Naaraka  paasam-  Narayana  Jaya

The koo, koo sound  of Koel, the cool wind,

The full moon and such  when they  join ,

The foolish people  join   with god of love,

Their  affection towards  hell , Hail Narayana

7.Kettukal ariyaathe azhiyaathingu,

Dushtu  miranja nikrushtaangathil,

Pettu   pidakkum  naranude  bhavna,

Kashtam  Kashtam  Narayana  Jaya

In this  hopeless  place   filled with bad things,

Without knowing the bundles get loose   and come down,

The imagination of man  gets caught   and suffers,

Bad , bad  , Hail  Narayana

8.Kevala deva padhambhuja pavana,

Sevana mishta phala pradhamallo,

Bhavanayaal  gathi gadwanga kshithi,

Palanu vannu  , Narayana Jaya

Simply serving the  lotus  feet  of God,

Which is holy, does it not get what we want,

To the king who carries the sword  ,

Because of imagination this fate came  , Hail  Narayana

9.Kaivalyam thaan, karunanidhiyude,

Thirunamangal    onnu japichaaal,

Kaivarumennu,ajamila  moksha ,

Kadha gathi  kaanumu Narayanaya jaya

We will get  salvation  by once  ,

Chanting   the name  of the treasure  of mercy,

And this   is known  by  the progress ,

Of salvation of Ajamila, hail  Narayana

10.Koduthaayulla  thapassukal vendaa,

Bahu dhanadya  makha  kriya  vendaa,

Kali kalathil bhagawan keerthana,

Makhileshtabhaam  Narayana Jaya  

There is no need   for very difficult  penance,

There is no need for rich offerings of very rich people,

In the Kali age  , singing  of the name of God,

Is more   than sufficient  , Hail  Narayana

11Komala Vaishnava   roopa   dhyanam,

Nama japam, thiru charithaakhyaanam,

Kamarithoronnum narajatha,

Kshemadhamathre  , Narayana  Jaya

Meditating on pretty form of Vishnu,

Chanting of his names, telling   his divine story,

To those of men who desire  , each of them    are,

Good for  great   comfort  , Hail Narayana

12.Kauthuka lesam, kamala varane,

Kai thozhuvoril  udhichal  polum,

Kai varum  akhila   vibhoothiyum avaniha,

Naiva  vivaadham, Narayana Jaya

Even if slight interest arises in ,

Saluting of the  lord  of goddess  Lakshmi,

Without any doubt  , he would be  able,

To realize all  that he wants, HailNarayana

13,Kambu gadhambuja chakralankrutha,

Sundara  panikal poonum   thiruvudal,

Yennullil theliyum padi varam arulka,

Ambuja nayana , Narayana Jaya

Please give  me a boon that   the divine,

Body holding  in his pretty hands   conch  , mace,

Lotus     and the wheel appears  clearly,

In my mind  , Hail  Narayana

14.Karkasa dhanava   samhruthi kaalan,

BHaktha   janaavana karunaa lolan,

Vishtapa visrutha palana  leelan,

Rakshathu maa, Narayana  Jaya

The very strict  charitable  Lord ,  the killer  of desires  of the mind,

The one   who is interested  in wandering amidst  devotees,

The famous one who nurtures   the world as sport,

May   protect me  , Hail Narayana

Tritheeya  padham

1.Paraparesa Pankajaaksha, papa nasana  vibho,

Virragi  chitha  visthruthanga  viswa  roopa  madhava,

Niraakruthaaakhilaasanai   chiraaya  nin padambujam,

Duraapam  aaluvan   Anugrahikka  , Krishna pahi maam

Oh Lord of divine, Oh god    with lotus eyes, the lord    who  destroys sins,

Who has a detached mind, broad vision,  a universal form , Oh Madhava

Please bless me so that   without any desires I am able  to hold,

Your lotus like feet  which is difficult to get, Oh Krishna  look after me

2.Puraa akhila Asooraamsa  bhootharaaya kamsa mukhYaraal ,

Parrabhavichu mangi  dharma nirmallabha   bhoothale  ,

Duraavahaarthi sathya loka naadhanodu  unarthinaal,

Dharaapi  saa  sagadhgadham, Mukundhaa  Krishnaa  Pahi maam

Once  by  the chiefs  like Kamsa   who were   having Rakshasa birth in them,

The pure people   who followed Dharma faded   due to sorrow,
Unable   to bear   the evil acts     the goddess  earth    with  very great sorrow,
Appealed   to lord   Brahma , the lord of sathya loka about it  , Oh Mukunda, Oh Krishna  protect me

3.Bharaa vasangiyaya bhoomiye  puraskarichudan,

Suraali  choozhave bhavane  vannu  kandu  naanmukhan,

Prapathicha  sangadangal cholkayaalekam kani-

Jnjnarathi nasana vibho , mukunda Krishna  Pahi maam.

Representing the earth suffering   due   to excess weight,

Surrounded  by crowd of devas, Brahma   came   and saw you,

When he related   the sorrows   that happened ,  you,

Became   extremely   merciful oh Lord  , Oh Mukunda, Oh Krishna protect me

4.Aho janichu  devaki  thanoojanai dharaa thalam.

Aho  visishtamakki ,nee  valarnnidum   dasanthare ,

Sahodhari  sutha  pramadhiyaya  kamsa  kandakan,

Vadhodhyamam thudangi pol, Mukunda Krishna  Pahi maam

And you were   born as   the son of devaki and made  ,

The earth  very special and when you  were  going up,

The evil Kamsa the enemy  of the son of his sister,

Started  efforts to kill him, Oh Mukunda, Krishna  protect me

5.Yethirthu  vanna daithya paali theeyil iyyal polave,

Dahichu poi Kamsanum  thrasichu  sambramichu poal,

Sahichu thellu kalam  ugra kopanai bhavicha , athi-

Kramichu Balya  kalavum  Mukunda  Krishna  Hare

When the   crowd of rakshasa   who came  opposing you,

Fell like  insects  in the fire  , it seems  Kamsa was terrified   and,

Bewildered and  you tolerated  it for some time  and became very angry,

When your   child hood   got over  , Oh Mukunda  Krishna  protect me

6.Bajicha   gopimaarkku abheeshta meki anugrahicha,

Aja pramukhya  devathabhi vandhya  vruthiyai  ,bhavaan,

Visha prachandan kaliyande darppavum   harichu nee,

Dwisha thapo vikrama, Mukunda Krishna  pahi maam

After fulfilling desires of Gopis who prayed you and after,

Blessing  the sons of Khubera  as a job of devas and Lord,

You   destroyed the pride of the very poisonous kaliya

Oh  Lord who has valour  like penance  against enemies, Oh Mukunda, Krishna protect me

7.AnukrameNa kamsa   mukhya dushta  bumi palare,

Hanichu medhinikku udhicha thapa   santhi   cheithu nee  ,

Manasvini  samooha  kaanthanai, grahastha  dharmavum,

KaNakke   aacharichu  poal  , Mukunda  Mukunda  pahi maam

Over time   you killed  the evil  rulers of earth  like kamsa,

And you rtelieved  the pain to earth   and gave   it peace,

You became  husband  to you group of darlings and properly  ,

Followed the Dharma  of a householder  , Oh  Mukunda , Krishna  protect me

8.Chamachu pon mayalayam  samudhra  madhyatho bhavan,

Swamugdhamaarumai sukhichu  vaaNeedum   dasantharou  ,

Kazhichu raja  sooyamaam  mahaamakham  Yudhishtiran,

Thava  prasadha hetho, Mukunda  Krishna  Pahi maam

You constructed a golden palace  of illusion in the  middle  of ocean,

And when you were  living there  with  your people   freed  by you,

Yudhishtra conducted   the great  worship   called  Raja Sooya,

For   pleasing  yourself  , Oh Mukunda , Krishna   protect me

9.Vadhichu thathra   Chedhipam  sudarsanaagra dhabhayaa,

Vidhichu poal  ,mahagrya  poojayum  parigrahichudan,

Thirichu  Raja Dhani pukku  vaana naal  ranathinaai

Adutha  salva mukhyare  hanicha   Krishna  Pahi maam

There  you killed   the king   of Chedhi   using  your Sudarsana,

And as fated  accepted    the   worship as  one who presides  over that,

Went back to your   capital  and   when you   were living  there, killed

The salva chiefs    who came   for war  , Oh  Krishna   protect me

10,Satheerthyanaam  kuchela   vipra  nirdhanagra   ganyane,

 Khubera thulyanaakki  pinne mukthi  saudham yethi  nee,

Maha ranathil   arjunannu ther  thelichu   gethayaam,
Sudha rasokthi salkaricha   Krishna  Krishna  Pahi maam

The extremely  poor  Kuchela   who was  your  class mate,

You made him equal to  God of wealth and later  gave him salvation,

And in the   very great war  you drove   chariot   to Arjuna,

And gave him Gita which was  like essence of nectar , Oh Krishna, Krishna  look after  me.

11.Aneka Raja  veerare sainya  nigrahancha nirvahichu,

Anakulam  dharabharam haricha sesham aadharaal,

Sanathanam  swa dhamam  yethuvaan  kaninjirikkave,

Muneendra  vrundam aagamichu , Deva  Krishna  pahi maam

He managed   to kill several   kings   as well as  brave men,

And   after   managing   to reduce the burden of earth , with grace

And when he was relaxing   after making  Sanathana  as his home,

A crown of great   sages  came there, Oh God Krishna  protect me

12,Ini gamikaanam  bhavan  swa dhivya dhamam yennu,

UNarthi  maamuneendrarum  maranju pokily  anjasaa,

Manasviyakum  udhavan  vanangi  mukthi saadhanaa,

Adhya anarga ththwamurachadasu , Krishna, Krishna  pahi maam

Now you have   to go    to your own   divine   home,

Saying this the great sages vanished  from there,

And then the close   friend Udhava saluted him and,

Requested  for method of salvation and you  ,

Told him that  extremely  valuable philosophy , Oh Krishna, Krishna  protect me

13.Yadha thadham  samasthavum  kadhichu anugrahichudan,

Prabhasa theerthamethi yadhavaadhi abhisahaiva  thaan,

Subapthaye kiratha bana  vidha  paadhanai  kshanaal,

Swadhamam aarnna deva  deva  , Krishna Krishna  pahi maam

After   telling   everything  that  needs to be told   and after  blessing,

You reached   the shores of Prabhasa and   with  yadhavas   and others accompanying,

You  reached your good aim  quickly by   an    arrow   of the hunter,

Oh God of Gods  who reached his home  , Oh Krishna, Krishna  protect me
