(Here is a great prayer addressed to Lord Shiva with 27 stanzas of four lines with each line ending With Namashivaya. The holy word chant to worshipLord shiva is made of five letters and is popularly called Panchakshara- Na, Ma, Śi, Vā, and Ya. According to Hindu traditions, the human body is considered to be made up of five elements and these holy letters represent these elements. Na Consecrates Prithvi Tattva (Earth element), Ma does the same with Jal Tattva (Water factor) Si energizes Agni Tattva (Fire element) Va energizes Vayu Tattva (Air factor) and finally Ya energizes Akasha Tattva (Sky/Space element).

Dhamalesa dhootha koka bhandhave Namashivaya

You saved the scared Brahmin boy who was scared of god of death, Namashivaya
You split the forehead of evil Daksha by your trident, Namashivaya
You who is the primeval cause as well as destroyer of gid of death , Namashivaya
You who is apex of mercy , please protect me , Namashivaya

He who is the chief donor of the thing that is desired, Namashivaya
He who is cause of destruction to the clan of evil asuras, Namashivaya
He who is the creator and protector who acts as bridge of Dharma , Namashivaya
He who has a bull flag and is god of eight elements*, Namashivaya
*earth, water, fire , air , sky , sun , moon and the controller

Paapa haari diva sindhu mastha they , Namashivaya
Paapa haarine lasanna masthathe Namashivaya
Saapa dosha khandana prasatha they Namashivaya
He who has a chisel like hand that breaks the mountain of dangers, Namashivaya
He from whose flows the river that removes all the sins, Namashivaya
He who destroys the sins, by the shining flow from his head , Namashivaya
He who is well known as one who cuts off the evils caused by curse, Namashivaya

Hema medhini dharendra chapa they Namashivaya
Nama mathra dagdha sarva papa they Namashivaya
Kamanaika thana hrudh duraapa they Namashivaya
He who has divine hair as heaven and has divine form with humility, Namashivaya
He who uses the golden mountain as his bow , Namashivaya
He whose name if chanted burns all the sins , Namashivaya
He who is difficult to get by those whose only aim is passion , Namashivaya
6.Brahma masthakavali nibadha the Namashivaya
Jimma gendra kundala prasidhe they Namashivaya
Brahmane praneetha veda padhathey Namashivaya
Jimha kaala deha datha padhathe Namashivaya
He who is attached to the rows of skull of Branma, Namashivaya
He who is famous for his ear studs in form of serpents, Namashivaya
He who created the path of Vedas for sake of Brahma, Namashivaya
He who took to kicking of the body of the god of death , Namashivaya
7.Kama nasanaaya shudha karmane Namashivaya
Sama gana jaaya maana sarmane , Namashivaya
Hemakanthi suraanga labdha charmane nama sarmane
Samajaa surrangala labdha charmane nama shivaya
He who destroyed god of passion and does pure deeds, Namashivaya
He who feels happy in listening to singing of Samaveda, Namashivaya
He who is surrounded by luster which is equal to that of god , Namashivaya
He who covers himself by hide of elephant got by killing an asura, Namashivaya
8.Janma mruthyu dukha haarine Namashivaya
Chinmayaika roopa deha daarine Namashivaya
Man manoradhova poorthi kaarine Namashivaya
Sanmano gathaaya kama vairine Namashivaya
He who removes the sorrow of birth and death,
He who has assumed a divine body Namashivaya
He who fulfills my dreams of mind, Namashivaya
He who is enemy of passion who is in mind of good people , Namashivaya

Daksha pani shobhi kanchanalave Namashivaya
Pakshi raja vaha hruchayaalave Namashivaya
Akshi phala vedapootha thaalave Namashivaya
Relation of Khubera who is compassionate , Namashivaya
He in whose right palm a golden pitcher shines , Namashivaya
He who sleeps in the heart of Vishnu who rides on Garuda , Namashivaya
He who has eye in forehead and whose mouth recites Vedas, Namashivaya
10.Daksha hastha nishta jatha vedhase , Namashivaya
Aksharaathmane nama dwidoujase , Namashivaya
Deekshitha prakashithathma thejase , Namashivaya
Akshraja vaha the sathaam gathe , Namashivaya
He who has the divine fire on his right hand, Namashivaya
He who is immortal and is saluted by Indra, Namashivaya
He who reveals his power to those who undertake Yaga, Namashivaya
He who rides on sacred bull and is refuge of noble people , Namashivaya

Raja maana nithya mandhahaasine Namashivaya
Raja korakavathamsa bhasine Namashivaya

He who lives on the top of the golden mountain , Namashivaya
He who shines forever in a gentle smile , Namashivaya
He who shines and wears the moon’s crescent , Namashivaya
He who shines with the friendship of Khubera , Namashivaya

He who is wish giving cow to the poor people , Namashivaya
He whose arrows burnt the manmatha with flower arrows, Namashivaya
He who is the golden mountain, to the devotees who love him , Namashivaya
He who is the fierce sun that removes the darkness called Asuras, Namashivaya
13.Sarva mangalaa kuchagra saayine Namashivaya
Sarva devathaa gannadhi saayine , Namashivaya
Poorva deva naasa samvidhayine, Namashivaya
Sarva man manoja banga dhaayine, Namashivaya
He who sleeps on the bosom of Uma the auspicious , Namashivaya
He who is greater than all other devathas, Namashivaya
He who causes the destruction of Asuras , Namashivaya
He who destroys all the effects of Manmtha , Namashivaya
14.Sthoka bhakthi thopi bhaktha poshine, Namashivaya
Maakarandha saara varshi baashine , Namashivaya
Yeka bilwa dhanathopi thoshine , Namashivaya
Naika janma papa jaala soshine, Namashivaya
He who supports devotees even with lesser devotion, Namashivaya
He who rains speech , which is essence of honey, Namashivaya
He who is pleased by giving of even a single bilwa leaf, Namashivaya
He who dries away the sins committed on all births, Namashivaya
15.Sarva jeeva rakshanai ka seeline Namashivaya
Parvathi priyaya baktha paaline Namashivaya
Durvidagdha dainya sainya dhaarine , Namashivaya
Sarvareesa dharine kapaline Namashivaya
He who has the habit of o protecting all beings, Namashivaya
He who is dear to Parvathi and looks after his devotees, Namashivaya
He who is an expert in destroying inefficient wicked Rakshasa, Namashivaya
He who wears the moon as well as skulls , Namashivaya
16.Paha maam uma manojna deha they Namashivaya
Dehi may varam sithadrigeha they Namashivaya
Mohi tharpi kamini samooha they Namashivaya
Swehitha prasanna kamadoha they Namashivaya
He who is a very pretty body due to presence of Uma, Namashivaya
He who is living on Kailasa , be pleased to grant me a boon
He who is accompanied by infatuated lovers, Namashivaya
He who is pleasant and fulfills all that is desired because he can, Namashivaya
17.Mangala pradhaya gothu ranga they Namashivaya
Gangaya tharangithothamanga they Namashivaya
Sangara pravrutha vairi banga they Namashivaya
Angajaaraayai karekuranga they Namashivaya
He who rides on a swift , auspicious bull, Namashivaya
He on whose head the river Ganga flows, Namashivaya
He who destroyed enemies who were doing battle , Namashivaya
He who is enemy of Manmatha who has antelope in his hand , Namashivaya

AAhithagni pala koksha kethave Namashivaya
DEha kanthi dhootha roubhya dhathava Namashivaya
Geha dukha puncha dhooma kethave Namashivaya
He who fulfills your desire that moment itself , Namashivaya
He who has a bull in his flag and protects the Yajna fire, Namashivaya
He who by the luster of his body excels silver , Namashivaya
He who is the fire that destroys all sorrows of the worldly life ,Namashivaya

He who with his three eyes looks with mercy at the suffering ones, Namashivaya
He who is the servant of those who have crossed the ocean of mercy , Namashivaya
He who removes the fear from those who are scared of death, Namashivaya
He who only saves me who has surrendered to him, Namashivaya
20.Nyanku panae shivasankaraya they Namashivaya
SAnkatabdhi utheerna kinkaraya they Namashivaya

He who is Shivasankara holding a deer in his hand, Namashivaya
He who is the servant who brings us out of ocean of sorrow, Namashivaya
He who is the terrible one who removes fear of death, Namashivaya
He who is Sankara who has a face like otus, Namashivaya
21.Karma paasa naasa neelakanta they Namashivaya
Sarmadhaaya varya basma kanta they Namashivaya
Nirma marshi sevithopa kanta they Namashivaya
Kurmahe natheernamadh vikunta they Namashivaya
He who is the blue necked who cuts of ties of Karma , Namashivaya
He who smears his neck with the ash of Manmatha , Namashivaya
He who is worshipped by the selfless sages, Namashivaya
He who is irresistible and loved his devotees greatly . Namashivaya
22.Vishtapadhi paya namra vishnave , Namashivaya
Sishta viprahrud guhaa charishnave , Namashivaya
Ishta vasthu nithya thushta jishnave, Namashivaya
Kashta nasanaya loka jishnave, Namashivaya
He who is lord of celestial world to whom Lord Vishnu bows, Namashivaya
He who moves in the inner heart of disciplined Brahmins , Namashivaya
He who is ever victorious and never has any wants , Namashivaya
He who wins over all world and is destroyer of difficulties, Namashivaya
23.Aprameya divya suprabhava they Namashivaya
Sath prapanna kshna swabhava they Namashivaya
Swaprakasa nisthulaanbhava they Namashivaya
Vipra dimba darsitha aardra bhaava , Namashivaya
He who has immeasurable divine power, Namashivaya,
He who has the quality of protecting good devotees immediately , Namashivaya
He who has his own luster and who has matchless pity, Namashivaya
He who as soon as he saw the Brahmin boy showed compassion, Namashivaya
24.Sevakaaya they mruda praseedha they Namashivaya
Bhava labhya thaavaka prasada they Namashivaya
Paavakaksha deva poojya paadha they Namashivaya
Thavakaangri baktha datha modha they Namashivaya
I am your servant , please be pleased with me , Namashivaya
He whose grace is only obtained by devotion to him, Namashivaya
He who has an eye of fire and whose feet are worshipped by devas, Namashivaya
He who grants joy to those devotees who catch his feet , Namashivaya
25.Bukthi mukthi divya bhoga dhayine , Namashivaya
Sakthi kalpitha prapancha bhagine , Namashivaya
Baktha sankata apahaara yogine Namashivaya
Yuktha sanmana saroja yogine Namashivaya
He who grants prosperity , salvation and divine joy , Namashivaya
He who pervades the universe created by Goddess SAkthi, Namashivaya
He who is a yogi who removes sorrows of devotees , Namashivaya
He who is associated with the lotus mind of yogis, Namashivaya
26.Anthakanthakaya papa haarine Namashivaya
Santha maaya danthi charma dharine Namashivaya
Santhatha aasritha vyadhaa vidharine , Namashivaya
Janthu jatha nithya saukhya kaarine , Namashivaya
He who killed God of death and destroys sins, Namashivaya
He who is peaceful and wears the hide of the elephant , Namashivaya
He who always removes the worries of those who depend on him , Namashivaya
He who is the cause of pleasure to all the beings , Namashivaya
27.Sooline namo nama, kapaline Namashivaya
Paaline virinchi munda maaline Namashivaya
Leeline visesha runda shaaline Namashivaya
Seeline nama prapunya maaline Namashivaya
Salutations to holder of trident, salutations to holder of skull, Namashivaya
He who looks after all and wears garland of skulls of Brahma , Namashivaya
He who plays sports and wears truncated bodies , Namashivaya
He who is good natured and wears garland of blessed deeds, Namashivaya
28.Shiva panchakshara mudhraam chathushpadho ullasa sapadhya mani gathithaam
Nakshatra maalikam yiha dadath upakantam naro bhavothsomaa
This nakshta mala is made of gems of four lines
Each of them containing the Shiva Panchakshara(Namashivaya)
And human being who recites it will become ,
Lord Shiva himself along with his consort UMa
