Prayer addressed to moon

Asya  Sri  Chandra Stotra Maha manthrasya  , Gauthama rishi  , Anushtup chanda, Chandro devatha  , Chandra  prasada sidhyarthe   jape viniyoga

 

To the great manthra of prayer to moon  , sage is Gauthama , meter is Anushtup, god addressed is moon and is being chanted to please   God moon

Nyasa

Vam Angushtabhyaam nama, veem tharjaneebhyaam namaVoom madhyamabhyaam nama, Vaim Anamikabhyaam nama, Voum kanishtikabhyam namaVa  Karathala kara  prushtabhyaam nama

 

Vam  salutations with thumb, Veem salutations with pointer finger, voom salutations with middle finger , Vaim salutations with ring finger, Va salutations with palm

 

Vam hrudayaya  nama , veem sirase swaha, voom  shikhayai vashat, vaim kavachaya hoomVoum nethra thrayaya Voushat, Va asthraya phat,

Boorbuvaswarom ithi  Dik banda

 

Vam salutations touch chest Veem salutations touch head  , Voom touch hair , Veem touch eyes,Va think of arrow

Saying Bhoorbavaswarom   I tie  the  directions

 

Dhyanam

 

Swethambaranvitha thanum, vara  shubhra  varnam, swethaswayuktha  Radhakam surasevethinangrim

Dhorbhyaam  druthamaya  varam varada,   sudhamsum  Sri vathsa  moukthika dharam pranamami nithyam

 

He with body dressed in white silk, which is of blessed white colour, who rides a chariot drawn by white horse, who is served  by all devas

He who shows protection and blessing by his two hands, he who is a part of nectar, who wears pearl garland called  sri vathsa and I daily salute him

 

Vasudevasya  nayanam , sankhraasya  vibhooshanam

Swetha malambara daram  , swetha  gandhanu lepanam

Swetha chathra  dharam vandhe  sarvabharana  bhooshitham

 

He who has eyes of Lord Krishna  , who decorates lord Shiva,

Wears white garland and dress , applies white sandal paste,

Who has a white umbrella and wears all ornaments

 

Stotram

 

1.Aghneya bhage  saratho dasaswa

Athreyajo  yamunadesakascha

Prathyang mukhastha chathurasra peede

Gadha dharo  novathu  rouhineeya

 

He who is in the south east  , driving on a chariot

Drawn by ten horses , son of  Athri,  living in Yamuna country]

Sitas in a four cornered seat  facing west

And holding a mace and husband of Rohini, may he protect us

 

2,Chandram namami varadam , sankarasya  vibhooshanam

Kala nidhim  , kantha  roopam, Keyura makutojjwalam

 

I salute Chandra  an ornament  of Lord shiva, who grants boons,

Who is treasure of crescents ,has attractive form and shines with a crown

 

3.Varadam , vandhya charanam,. Vasudevasya  lochanam

Sarva lokaa aasechanakam chandram tham pranamamyaham

 

He who grants boons if we salute his feet  , having eyes of Lord  Krishna

Who is Chandra  giving joy to all the world and I salute that Chandra

 

4,Swetha malyambaradaram , swetha gandhanu lepanam

Swetha chathra lasad moulim  sasinam  pranamamyaham

 

I salute lord Chandra  , who wears white garland, applies white sandal

Has white umbrella   and has  a shining crown

 

5.Sarvam jagad jeevayasi  sudha rasa mayai karai

Soma dehi mama aroghyam  sudha  pooritha mandalam

 

You make all the world live by your  nectar drenched  rays

Oh Lord moon  , with a  area surrounded by nectar , please give me health

 

6.Raja thwam Brahmanaanaam cha ramaya  abhi sodara

Oushadhenam  cha adhipathi, raksha  maama rajani pathe

 

You  are the king of Brahmins and the brother of Goddess Lakshmi

You  are the lord of medicinal plants Oh lord of night , please  protect me                   

 

7.Kalyana  moorthe varada., karuna rasa  Vaaridhe

Kalaso dadhi,  samjnaatha kala nadha  , krupaam kuru

 

You have auspicious form grants boons  and ocean of juice of mercy

One who makes curd in pot , known as lord of arts, please  show me mercy

 

8.Ksheera arnava sambhootha, chinthamani   sahodh bhava

Kamitharthan  pradehi thwam , kalpa tharum sahodhara

 

You were bormn in ocean of milk, born along with wish  giving gem

Please give me what I desire , oh brother  of wish giving tree

 

9.Swethambara  dhara  , Swetha  vibhooshanaadyaa

Gadha dhara swetha  ruchirth vibahu

Chandra   sudhathmaa   varada  kireeti

Sreyamsu  mahyam  prathadathu   deva

 

He who wears white dress  , has white ornaments

Carries a mace, who has a white  luster

The mon whose soul is  nectar, who grants boons  , wears crown

Give me fame  Oh  God

 

Kshayaa apasmara  kushtaadhi  thapa  jwara  nivaranam

Sarva sampadamaapn othi  stotra  padaan na   samsaya

Idham  Nisakara  stotram  Ya padeth sathatham  nara

Upadravaths muchyathe naathra  kaaryaa  vicharana

 

If this prayer is read without any doubt  , TB, epilepsy , leprosy

Would be cured  and all wealth    will become  our own

This prayer to maker of night if read frequently  by men

All difficulties  would come to an end and there  is no need to worry
