(Maha Prathyangira called also   as Atharvana  BHadra kali  is an extremely ferocious goddess   with one thousand heads of lion, two thousand hands, wearing a garland of skulls , having blood red eyes , and preferring meat and alcohol as   offerings ,She is supposed to the wife of Lord Sharbha   , a bird , animal and man combination  of  Lord Shiva  taken to control the great anger of Lord Narasinha  after he killed Hiranya Kasipu. She is  the killer of enemies and orefers thanthra worship as    against  the Manthra worship.  The biggest and most famous temple is in Sholingur Tamil Nadu.There are temples for her in Ayyavadi  near KUmbakonam  and a few modern temples in Andhra, Karnataka and Tamil nadu. There are  no important temples dedicated   to her in North of India.She is mainly worshipped using THanthra practices mainly to get rid of the enemy.)
