 (Sun God is possibly the only God    that all beings see  .In Hindu religion , he is the son of sage Kashyapa and Adithi. Right from the Vedic days  he is worshipped  . In Ramayana, Lord Rama worships him  for being able to kill Ravana.  In Mahabaratha he is worshipped by the Pandavas    to get food in the forest  . Aruna, the brother  of Garuda is his charioteer  . His chariot  is supposed to be drawn by   seven green horses.Lord Hanuman and sage Yajnavalkya were his disciples   and learnt Vedas   from him  by travelling backwards at the same speed as his chariot.Konark in Orissa has a very huge temple  only dedicated to him. There  is a temple dedicated to him in Suriyanar koil near Kumbhakonam.In Almost all Shiva temples in Tamil Nadu there are  temples dedicated to the nine planets  and Sun God stands in their middle   facing   the east. He goes round the world in 365 and a quarter days. He stays in a rasi for one month .In the month when he  stands  in the  2,4,5 ,7, 8, 9 th house from moon, bad effects would be felt..He is the  owner of simha rasi  and is very powerful (exalted) in  Mesha rasi  and is very weak in  Thula rasi . Though there is another Ashtothara  in BHavishya Purana , this version is more popular.)
