கச்சிநகர் வீதியிலே – அந்த
காலகண்டன் ரூபியுமாய் – சங்கரா
பத்தியுடன் பார்த்திருந்தோம் – உந்தன்
பாதமலர் போற்றுகின்றோம்!     (1)

Kachi nagar veethiyile –antha ,

Kala  kandan roopiyumai-Sankaraa ,

Bhakthiyudan parthirunthom-undhan

Pada  malar  Pothukindrom

In the streets  of Kanchipura,Along,

With the God  who killed the God of death-Oh Sankara,

We were waiting for  you with devotion,

WE praise   your    flower like feet

அஞ்சுகமுன் அருளாலே – பஞ்ச
பூதமுடை உடலினுள்ளே – சங்கரா
நெஞ்சமதில் நின்னுருவை – நித்தம்
தந்தருள வேணுமையா!      (2)

Ancukamun arulaale  -pancha,

Bhoothamudai   udalinulle –Sankara,

Nenjamathil  ninnuruvai –nitham ,

Thantharula   venum ayya

With  the blessing   the Goddess who is pretty(with a parrot?),

In this body made  of five elements-Oh Sankara,

Daily  you should    show us  ,

Your    form  , Oh our   sir

குந்தகமும் குறையாவும் – கொண்ட
வாழ்விதனில் நிறைவாக – சங்கரா
உந்தனருள் காத்திடவே – எந்தன்
சிந்தனையில் நிறைவாயே!        (3)

Kunthagamum  kurai yaavum  -konda  ,

Vazhvithinil  niraivaaga –Sankara ,

Undan arul kathidave  -Yenthan,

Chithanayil niraivaaye

To fill up   this life  , which is,

Full  of wants and problems-Oh Sankara,

Please  completely   occupy our thoughts,

So that  your blessings  are protected(always with us)

வஞ்சியவள் அருளாலே – பந்த
பாசமெனும் கடலினிலே – சங்கரா
தஞ்சமென சரணடைந்தோம் – உந்தன்
பாதநிழல் பணிவோமே!        (4)

Vanchiyavqal arulaale  -Bandha  ,

Pasamennum kadalilinile  -Sankara ,

THanjamena   saran adainthom-unthan,

Padha nizhal  Panivome

Due to the blessings of the Goddess,

In this ocean of attachments   and affections-Oh SAnkara,

WE said “protect us” and surrendered to you,

WE bow in salute  the shadow  of your feet 

எம்மையெமக் கறிவித்துமே – நாதன்
இணையடி உணரவைத்தே – சங்கரா
மும்மைவினை தீர்ப்பதற்கே – உந்தன்
ஆளுமையில் ஏற்பாயே!        (5)

Yemmai yemakku   arivithume –Nadhan,

Inayadi   unara vaithe-SAnkaraa,

Mummai   vinai theerpatharkke-Undhan,

Aalumayil   yerppaye

After making us understand ourselves and making us,

Realize the twin feet  of the Lord –Oh Sankaraa,

For removing    the karma   of the past  births ,

Please  accept us   under  your rule.

காந்தமலர் சோதியுமாய் – சந்த
நாதமிதில் போதகமாய் – சங்கரா
வந்துநிறை வேதனுமாய் – தர்ம
வாழ்வுதனை அருள்வாயே!        (6)

Kantha malar   jothiyumai –santha,

Nadhamidhil bodhakamao –Sankaraa,

Vanthu nirai vedanumai –Dharma ,

Vaazvu   thanai   arulvaaye

Along with the  luster  of the magnetic flower,

And along with  lessons of musical sound  -Oh Sankara ,

Please   fill us up  Vedas    and bless  us,

With  a life   of Dharma

நீறணிந்த திருமேனி – நெற்றி
மேற்பொதுயும் குங்குமத்தால் - சங்கரா
ஆறணிந்த சடையோனாய் – நிதம்
நாதியெனக் காப்பாயே!                (7)

Neeranintha  thiru meni-Nethri  ,

Mel  pothuyum  kumkumathaal  -Sankaraa ,

AArananitha  sadayonai –nidham  ,

Nadhi  yena kaappaye

With your   divine body  wearing sacred ash,

And wearing Kukuma on top of  your forehead, Oh Sankara,

Becoming lord Siva wearing river on his tuft,

Protect us daily   as your    ward.

சொல்லச்சொல்ல இனித்திடுமே – சொக்கத்
தங்கமுந்தன் நாமமுமே – சங்கரா
சொல்லியழும் முன்னமுமே – எம்மைக்
காத்தருளும் செவ்வருளே!        (8)

Solla solla inithudume  -Chokka  .

THangam undhan naamamume  -SAnkaraa ,

Cholli yazhum munnamume  -Yemmai  ,

Katharulum  chevarule

Chanting and chanting of   your name   which,

Is purest of Gold makes it sweet-Oh Sankara ,

Before we appeal  to you  and cry  ,

Oh great blessing, Please  do protect us.

ஆதியந்தம் ஏதுமில்லா – எங்கள்
அப்பனம்மை ஆனாயே – சங்கரா
சோதிவடி வானவனே – எம்மை
சோதித்ததும் போதுமையா        (9)

Aathiyantham  yethumillaa  -yengal,

Apaan ammai aanaaye  -Sankaraa ,

Jothi vadivanavane-yemmai  ,

Sodhithathum   podhumayya.

Without   a beginning or an an end,

You became our mother   and father-Oh sankaraa,

Who has a form of a flame,this testing us,

Is more than sufficient  , oh sir

பத்துப்பாட்டு பாடிவரும் – எங்கள்
பக்திதனை ஏற்றிடுவாய் – சங்கரா
நித்தமுனைத் தொழுதிடவே – எம்மை
ரக்ஷிப்பதும் நின்னருளே!        (10)

Pathu patt paadi varum  - yengal,

BHakthi thanai  yethiduvaai –Sankaraa,

Nithamunai thozhuthidave –yemmai,

Rakshippathum  ninnarule

WE are coming  singing to you  these ten verses,

Please   accept   our devotion-Oh Sankara,

It is your blessing that  makes us salute you daily  ,

Also  protects  us daily.
