Muni charya Panchakam

Muni charya  Panchakam
(The pentat   of life  of a sage)

By
Srimad Narayana  Guru

Traslated by
P.R.Ramachander

(This was written by SRimad Narayana Guru after  he returned  from his visit  to ashram of  Ramana  Maharishi  .It can be read  in mAlayalam script  https://www.sndp.org/html/municharyaPanchakam.pdf  )

1.Ithyaadhi vadho paratham mahantham,
Prasantha gambheera nija swabhavam,
Sonachale   sri ramanam sameekshye,
Provaacha  Narayana  samyamindra

These  type of    arguments,
Which are quiet, great and are truth,
In front of Ramana  of the arunchala mountains
Were told  by Narayana  who had full  control of himself

2.Bhuja  kimupadhaanathaam , kimu na  kambheeni   manchathaam,
Vrajeth  vrujinaharinee swapadha pathini medina,
Munerapara sampadhaa kimiha muktha ragasya tha-.
Thwmasya adhigamaadhayam sakala bhogya mathyasnuthe

To him whom olded arms  becoming a pillow, the earth becomes his bes,
Whose foot  steps    removes sins from earth,
For   such a saint, what  use is wealth or gems  and pearls,
For he  greatly enjoys  all pleasures by realizing  “you are  that”

2.Muni pravadathaam  vara  kwachana vaagyamee  panditho,
Vimooda   iva  paryatan kwachana samsthitho apyuthidha,
Sareera madhi gamyad chanchala  mane hasaa khanditham,
Bhajathya   nisamaathmanaa padhama khanda  bodham param.

The   sage  some times talks more expertly  than learned  orator,
Like a fool he some times travels or stays   fixed  in one place,
He wins over   his body.. some times  he laughingly criticizes people  of unstable mind,
Praying  with a dark soul  he realizes the indestructible ultimate  divine  entity.

3.Ayachitham alipsaya niyathi  datha mannam muni,
Sthano  sthithaya  anwadhan padhi   sayaanako   avyakula,
Sadaathma druga anaswaram swa patha mathmanorai krutha,
Sphuran   nirupamam padham mijamupaithi sachith sikham

A sage used to sleep any where  and eat   whatever is given unasked,
Staying in his place, just to keep  body alive  and without any worries,
Knowing  that he supreme self are  samem, he travels in his pathwithout bothering,
And shines without comparison in  the bliss which cannot be  desteroyed.

4.ASathsa dithi vadatho bahira achinthya agrahyam,
Anwa garna  amalam  param  smitha nimna mathyunnatham,
Parangmukha itha sthutha parisamethi   thuryam  padham,
Muni sada ssathor dwayaadhu  pari ganthu mabhudhyutha

Saying that this world is not  true and aiming at unthinkable  unapprochable,
Going to   the pure , divine, joyful  , from  lowest to the highest,
And  praying to be averse  attains    the   state  of thuriya,
The sage always  follows  the truth, goes  towards  the extreme   realization

5.Swaveasmanoo vane  thadhaa  pulina bhoomishu pranthare
Kwa vaa   vasathu  yogino  vasathi manasam  brahmani,
Yidam   maru mareechikaa  sadrusa  mathma drushyaakhilam,
Nireekshya   ramathe munir nirupame para  brahmani

His abode is in forest  or   area  of barren land,
And  in the mind of the yogu   Goddess  Brahman lives,
With which he  sees himself, treating   the world as a mirage,
And the sage  enjoys his being the incomparable divine  Brahman
