Some sayings about Guru

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा ग्रुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः ।

 गुरुः साक्षात् परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥

 

Guru is Brahma  , Guru is Vishnu and Guru  is Lord shiva

Guru   is the real  divine  Brahman and I so I salute the guru

 

धर्मज्ञो धर्मकर्ता च सदा धर्मपरायणः ।

तत्त्वेभ्यः सर्वशास्त्रार्थादेशको गुरुरुच्यते ॥

 

Dharmajna  , Dharma Kathaa  sadhaa  Dharma Paarayana

THathwebhya sarva   saasthraadh  adha dhisako   gurur uchyatha

 

The one who knows   Dharma, the one who does Dharma and one  who preaches  Dharma

And the one who teaches   the philosophies and all sasthras   is called   as Guru

 

निवर्तयत्यन्यजनं प्रमादतः स्वयं च निष्पापपथे प्रवर्तते ।

 गुणाति तत्त्वं हितमिच्छुरंगिनाम् शिवार्थिनां यः स गुरु र्निगद्यते ॥

 

Nivarthya anya  janam   pramaadhatha swayam  cha nish papa  padhe pravarthathe

Gunaathi thathwam hith michuranginaam shivarthinam ya sa guru nirgadhyathe

 

He who corrects   the mistakes  of those who commit it,and going on path  of  no sin,

He who likes  good conduct, good  for all and who teaches philosophy is called Guru

 

नीचं शय्यासनं चास्य सर्वदा गुरुसंनिधौ ।

गुरोस्तु चक्षुर्विषये न यथेष्टासनो भवेत् ॥

 

Neecham   sayyasanam sarvadhaa  guru sannidhou

Gurosthu  chakshoor vishaye yadheshtaasano   bhaveth

 

The useless one   lies   down always   before the guru

And when Guru’s sight falls on him, he sits  in proper seat

 

किमत्र बहुनोक्तेन शास्त्रकोटि शतेन च ।

 दुर्लभा चित्त विश्रान्तिः विना गुरुकृपां परम् ॥

 

Kimathra   bahunokthena sasthrakoti    sathena cha

Durlabhaa   chitha visraanthi vinaa guru krupaam  param

 

Even if   you know a lot and  have learnt crores of Sastras

Without the    divine blessing of guru,  it is difficult to have A PEACEFUL MIND

 

प्रेरकः सूचकश्वैव वाचको दर्शकस्तथा ।

 शिक्षको बोधकश्चैव षडेते गुरवः स्मृताः ॥

 

Preraka  soochakaschaiva vaachako darsa kamasthadhaa

Sikshako bodhakaschaiva shadethe   guruva    sthithaa

 

Those who enthuse you, those  who point out something, those who tell the truthand show you the path,

Those who instruct you, those you teach you are   your six type   of gurus

 

गुकारस्त्वन्धकारस्तु रुकार स्तेज उच्यते ।

अन्धकार निरोधत्वात् गुरुरित्यभिधीयते ॥

 

Gukarasthandhakaarasthu , rukaaraa  stheja uchyathe

Andhakara nirodhathwaath guru rithya   abhidheeyathe

 

Letter Gu indicates darkness, letter Ru indicates  lighting it up

And he   removes the darkness  by  lighting up knowledge  is the guru

 

शरीरं चैव वाचं च बुद्धिन्द्रिय मनांसि च ।

 नियम्य प्राञ्जलिः तिष्ठेत् वीक्षमाणो गुरोर्मुखम् ॥

 

Sareeram   chaiva vaacham cha  Budhindriya manaamsi cha

Niyamya praanchali thishteth veekshamano  guror mukham

 

Keeing under control the body, sound, brain, sense organs  and mind,

Which are five, with folded hands  saluting him , we shuld see  the face of guru
