Sathyam-Truth  -some Sanskrit sayings

सत्येन रक्ष्यते धर्मो विद्याऽभ्यासेन रक्ष्यते ।

मृज्यया रक्ष्यते रुपं कुलं वृत्तेन रक्ष्यते ॥

 

Sathyena   rakshathe   dharmam, vidhyaa  abhyasena  rakshathe

Mrujyayaa   rakshathe   roopam  ,Kulam vruthena  Rakshathe

 

Dharma  is protected by truth,  Knowledge  is protected by  practice

Looks are  protected  by cleaning and clan is  protected by good conduct

 

सत्येन धार्यते पृथ्वी सत्येन तपते रविः ।

 सत्येन वायवो वान्ति सर्वं सत्ये प्रतिष्ठितम् ॥

 

SAthyena  dhayathi  prithvee, sathyena  thapathe ravi

SAthyena   vaayavo vaanthi, sarvam   sathye  prathishtitham

 

Due to truth   earth is getting sustained  , due to truth  sun is hot,

Due to truth wind  is blowing and everything has   base  in truth

 

नास्ति सत्यसमो धर्मो न सत्याद्विद्यते परम् ।

न हि तीव्रतरं किञ्चिदनृतादिह विद्यते ॥

 

Naasthi   sathya samo  dharmam, sathyadh vidhyathe  param,

Na hi   theevratharam kinchidh anruthaadhiha   vidhyathe

 

There is no Dharma   equal to truth and there  is nothing beyond truth

And nothing    is   worse   than untruth

 

Sathyameva  vrutham  yasya   dhayaa  dheeneshu    sarvadhaa

Kama krodhow vase yasyaa na saadhu , kadhyadhe  Budhai

 

Truth is the only penance that makes you show  kindness to poor always

The wise tell that  those who control passion and anger are those   who are good

 

सत्यमेव जयते नानृतम् सत्येन पन्था विततो देवयानः ।

 येनाक्रमत् मनुष्यो ह्यात्मकामो यत्र तत् सत्यस्य परं निधानं ॥

 

SAthyameva  Jayathe nanrunam , sathyena  pandhaa   vithatho deva yana

Yenakramath manushyo hyaathmakamo yathra   thath sathyasya  param nidhana

 

Always   truth wins, the path of the  vehicle   of devas  is stewn with truth

That path    which man should follow  , is the divine path of truth

 

सत्यं ब्रूयात् प्रियं ब्रूयात् न ब्रूयात् सत्यमप्रियम् ।

नासत्यं च प्रियं ब्रूयात् एष धर्मः सनातनः ॥

 

SAthyam brooath , priyam bhooyaath ,na brooyaath   sathyam apriyam

Naa sathyam   cha  priyam brooyaath yesh dharma sanathana

 

Tell the truth , tell what is liked, do not tell  truth which is not liked

And to not tell  the untruth because it is liked  , this is the perennial  Dharma

 

नानृतात्पातकं किञ्चित् न सत्यात् सुकृतं परम् ।

 विवेकात् न परो बन्धुः इति वेदविदो विदुः ॥

 

Nanruthaath pathakam kinchith na sathyaath   sukrutham param

Vivekaath   na paro  bandhu, ithi veda vidho   vidhu

 

Truth is b never  a crime and nothing is divinely good like truth

There is no friend  like wisdom , say the wise people who know vedas
