Prayer to Lord Kethu

Om asya  sri Kethu stotra maha manthrasya  , vama deva rishi, Anushtup chanda, Kethu Devatha, Mama kethur prasada sidhyarthe Jape  viniyoga

 

For the great prayer of Kethu, the sage is Vamadeva, N Meter is anushtup   , god addreesed is Kethu  and for pleasing planet Kethu , this is being chanted

 

Gauthama Uvacha

Sage Gauthama said

 

Muneendra sutha, thathwajna, sarva  sastra visharadha

Sarva roga haram broohi,  Sri kethor stotram anuthamam

 

Oh great sage Sutha who is a great philosopher, who is an expert in all sastras

For getting all diseases cured  , please tell the incomparable prayer  to Kethu

 

Sutha Uvacha

Sutha said

 

Srunu Gauthama  vakshyaami stotram yethad anuthamam

Guyath guhya  thamam Kethu Brahmana  Keerthitham puraa

 

Adhya karala vadhano Dwitheeyo  Raktha lochana

Tritheya Pingalaaksha cha Chathurtho jnan   Dhayaka

 

First one with black face , second  one having blood colour in his  eyes

Third he who has brown eyes, Four one grants  wisdom

 

PanchamaKapilaakshascha Sashta   kalagni   sannibha

Sapthamo  Hima garbhasha Dhoomra varno  ashtama stadhaa

 

Five one having yellow brown eyes sixth he who is like killing fire

Seventh  He who is like eyes and eighth one   like smoke colour

 

Navama krutha kantascha dasamo  nara  peedaka

Yekadasathu Sri Kanta Dwadasasthu  Gadha  Dhara

 

Ninth one with cut neck, Tenth one who troubles men

Eleventh One without neck twelfth  One who holds mace

 

Dwadasasthe  Maha kroora, sarvopadrava  karaka

Parva kaale Peedayanthi dhivakara  nisakarou

 

Twelfth very cruel , one who creates  all troubles

And during season time  He would trouble sun and moon

 

Nama dwadasakam stotram  ketho yethath mahathmana

Padanthi  ye anvaham bakthya   thebhya  kethu praseedathi

This prayer of twelve names is of the great one called Kethu

If this is read daily with devotion, Then Kethu would be pleased with him

 

Kulutha dhanye   viliketh shat konam mandalam shubham

Padmam ashta dhalam thathra  vilikhecha  vidhanatha

 

On the well spread grains  , drawing a six angled  figure  is good

On it to  you draw  a lotus with eight petals

 

Neelam Ghatam  cha samsthapya dhivakara  nisakarai

Kethuncha   thathra  nikshipy poojayithwaa  vidhanatha

 

After keeping a blue pot on that and draw  sun and moon

If you keep kthu there   and start  worshipping it

 

Stotra medath padithwa cha dhyayan kethum vara pradham

Brahmanam   Srothriyam  Jnantham  poojayithwaa  kutumbinam

 

After  reading this stotra, meditate on Kethu who grants boons

And the family should  worship  wise Brahmins  who are expert in Vedas

 

Ketho Varala vakthrasya prathimaam  vasthra samyutham

Kumbhadhibhischa samyukthaam   chithra thare pradhapayeth

 

Keep statue of kethu with cut throat along with dress

And along with  the pot, draw  pretty picture of stars

 

Dhanenaanena supreetha kethusyathasya saukhyadha

Vathsaram  prayatho   bhoothwaa poojayithwaa  vidhanatha

 

Charity  pleases kethu and this leads to a good life

And  till a year is over  , this  worship should be done

Moolam ashtothara satham Ye  japanthi narothama

Theshaam kethu prasaadena na kadachith  bhayam bhaveth

 

Those great men who can chant the root one hundred eight  names  of Kethu

Would due to pleasure of Kethu, would rarely get  afraid

 

Ithi sri Brahmanda puranoktham kethu stotram sampoornama

 

Thus ends prayer of Kethu   which occurs in Brahamnda purana
