1.Nee aadum vilayadal ondraa-indru

Naan thaana kidaithenaa , nandraa?

Chei vaadum pothinile thai nee-un

Cheyal maranthu nirpatheno, vaa nee-Uyar

Maangattil kudi konda thaaye-nee,

Manamirangi arul cheikuvaaye, amma (nee aadum)

 

Is  this one  of your plays-

Today, did you get  only me, Is it all right?

When  yor baby was  wilting, why,

You mother  arestanding  forgetting   yourself, you please  come

Oh mother who took residence in great  Mangadu,

You please take  mercy   and bless, oh mother

 

2.Sivanodu vilayadal cheithai-avan

Sinathaale maangaattil  nindraai

Thavakkolam thanal meethu kondaai-nagar

Kanchi thanil  mana kolam poondaai-uyar

Maangaattil kudi konda  thaaye-nee

You  played  with lord Shiva, and,

Due to his anger  you stayed  in Mangadu

You took form of penance on burning coal,

In city of Kanchipuram  you took form of getting married

Theeraatha  mana  kuraikal theerppai

Yen thannai un aadal pothum-nee

Every day  I  did  salute  you,you also,

Seekirame  vaa , nee  yen poruppai

Sira thaazhthi karam koopi azhaithen-nee

I would give you troubles  , please pardon,

You come very quickly as my  responsibility

I bent my head and with saluting hands I called you,

If you smile   and hug me, I would  prosper

Varam indri naan chellal  murayo

Azhukindra  kuzhanthai naan paarai-un

Anbaale aaruthalai thaaai-uyar

Lord Muruka went   back  without fruit

Is  it proper for  me to go back , without a boon

Observe   that  I am a   crying  child
