Kurathis are  wandering gypsies of Tamil Nadu  .They normally sell needles , bangles etc.Apart from that   they read the palm and tell the future .

In this story  , One kurathi and her husband reach  Ayodhya and Kurathi meets Dasaratha’s three queens , who ask her whether  they will have sons and she reads their palms.As a result she tells entire Ramayanam (you can read it in Malayalam in https://thaalilakkam.in/downbooks/238.pdf )

 

 

1,Tribhuvanam  naadu thorum naadu nalla desam

Yi bhuvanam thannile prasidhiyulla  naadu

 

When you consider  all countries  of three worlds, this place  is a good country,

The famous country  of this world

 

2.Kanni moonaam nattile piranthoru kurathi

Vishnuvingal bakthiyode viswasichu oruthan

 

In the third country of virgin, one gypsy  was born

One person with great  devotion to lord  Vishnu  believed it

 

3.Bakthanaaya  nalla aravan , vettu kondavale

Ishtathode pattanathil  vaazhunnoru kalam

 

Liking her  one person got married to her

And when they were living in town with liking

 

4.Ekachakran yennamgoru balanum pirannu

AAru masam balannu  kazhinjatheyullu

 

They  got a boy child called  Ekachakra

And that boy was  just six months old

 

5.Annoru naal  kuravan , kurathi thanne

Mellave vilichu arukil cherthu kondu cholli

 

One of those days thay gypsy man called his gypsy girl

And slowly called her , brough her near  to him and told

 

6.Innu iviede ninnum naam purppeduga Baale

Nammude  jathi dharmam  angineyathullu

 

Oh Girl , let us start   from here  today,

Our caste  rules is  only  that  much

 

7.Jathi dharmam cheithillengil  papa  karmam undaam

Ooru chuthi  sancharichaal papa karmam theerum

 

IF we do not obey  rules  our caste  , there will be sin

If we  roam from place to place, the sin would get over

 

8.Veedu pukku irumnnu kondaal, papa karmam undaam

Yennathinal  innu  jnaan  purappedunnu  Bale

 

If we enter into a hose and keep on staying  , sin will accumulate

And so  Today, I am starting  from here  , oh girl

 

9.Mandirathil okkave , irunnu kolvaanayi

Yennathu paranju punara  kuravan appol

 

Staying  in one home and be there

Said the gypsy  man again

 

10.Pooniyum yeduthu udane than vadi mel cherthu

Cheppadikalude vattamangu  koodi

 

Taking her hand bag  immediately  along with the stick

The crown of magicians  gathered  together

 

11.Paambine pidichidunna koodum mamgeduthu,

Vanarathine pidichu  mumbilum niruthi

 

She then took hold  of cage to catch the snake

And caught  hold of monkey  and made him stand in front

 

12.Akkadhakal  kanda neram, akkurathi thaanum

Krishna nira chelayeduthu uduthu

 

Seeing all that at thast time  that gypsy girl,

Took a black sari  and tied

 

13,Ottu  chela kondangu aval uthareeyam ketti

Utharayeem kettiyathil  kuttiyeyum ittu

 

With  the  long length  of the sari  she tiled  the shoulder cloth

And after  tying the shoulder  cloth , she put  her baby in it

 

14,Vattikal  , kalam chiratta yenniva yeduthu

Thanthina thane yennum aval  paadi

 

She toom bamboo baskets , pot , coconut shell,

And started  singing  “Thanthina thaane”

 

15.Ooru   chuthi sancharikkum kaalam avar appol

Bikshayum  irannu  nada  kondavarum annu

 

When they wandering  rrom place to place

They also begged  for alms and roamed  about

 

16.Chelezhum  Ayodhya thannil akam pukku

Chol periya  naarimaare moovareyum kandu

 

She entered  the  very pretty  city  of Ayodhya

And so three  ladies who were  rich  and well  known

 

17.Mannavanudayaa thaaru  vanthadi  kurathui

Ninne  Naangal  Kana venam yennirunnu  munnam

 

Oh Gypsy  girl, you have  come to the place of the king

WE want to see  you, saying this  they sat

 

18.Puthrar illaa jnangalkku athi  dukha kaalam paaram

Naangalude kaikal paarthu  lakshanathe chollu

 

For us who do not have sone , this is a very sorrowful time,

Please see our palms and tell us  your predictions

 

19.Kausalya, kaikeyiyum sumithrayum kai kaattu

Yennathine  kettu avarum  kaikalangu  neetti

 

Oh Kausalya, Kaikeyi   and Sumithra, show your palms

And hearing that they   extended  their palm

 

20Ningalude kaikku  nalla yogamundu cholvaan

Moonnu mathakkalkkumkoodi  naalu puthrarundaakum

 

I have to say   that  your palms  , show you have great luck

For the three  of you mothers  there  will be  four children

 

21,Naalvarilum moothavannu  Ramanennu Peraam

Akkumaran thanne   ningal  viswasichu kolvin

 

The eldest  of the fpur  will have name Rama

And out all your faith on that boy

 

22,Keli ketta Raman angu naadu  vittu pokum

Mukthi vittu   sidhanaakum , athalilla  cholvaan

 

That very famous Rama  would go away  from his country

And become a great  Sidha   who left salvation, There  is no problem in telling it

 

23.Othum Muni vaaniyan thanneyum varuthi

Mamuni thaan  vannu ivade yaagavum  kazhikkum

 

After bringing the great  sage  who teaches here

Another great  sage  would come  and do fire sacrifice

 

24.Yaagathil  niinu udane payasam labikkum

Payasathe vaanga  neengal  moovarum bhujikkkum

 

Immediated from fire sacrifice You will get Payasam

And after  getting it, all the three  of you will eat it

 

25.Moothayamma thanniloru puthiran pirakkum

Moonu lokamudaya pilla  kaikeyikkundaam

 

For the eldest  mother  a son  would be born

And Kaikeyi will get a son  who has three  worlds

 

26.Vaarilaya kongayaalamavallu randu

Balarivar , naalvarilum moothathangu  Raman

 

To the   youngest  of the  mothers

There  will betwo sons, Rama is eldest of four

 

27.Keerthiyulla balakar  iruvarumayothu.

Keerthiyai  muthume  sukhichu  vaazhum kaalam

 

When the two boys who will be very famous ,

At thattime  when they have  greaeat fame and living

 

28.Kaushikanaam  mamuneendran yipuriyil  vannu

Yaga   Raksha  cheivathinnu, ramane  ayappan

 

Then the  very great  sage Kaushika  would come to this city

And ask to send Rama to protect a fire  sacrifice

 

29.Modhamodu   arasanodu chollumadiyamme

Ezhu  randu lokam  vaazhvor arasane vilichu

 

He will tell   this with joy to the king

By calling the king who rules  fourteen worlds

 

30.Lakshmananeyum   vilichu pokayennu  chollum

Mamuni thelijavare kootti  kondu pokum

 

He will him to take  Lakshmana also

And the great sage would  take  those  who are clear

 

31.Balayum athibalayumithi manthravum kodukkum

Kadakathu chellum neram Thadakaye  kollum

 

He would give  them manthras called Bala  and athibala

They would go inside  forest and kill  Thadaka

 

32.Rakshasare  konnu yaga rakshayum cheyyum

Kallai kidakkunna thor  ahalya  than dehe

33.Kalu vechu Raman angu  mokshavum Kodukkum

Janaka puram thannil chellum, vivahamathu  kaanmaan

 

They would kill Rakshasas and protect  the yaga

On the body of Ahalya  who was lying there  as stone,

Rama would keep his feet and grant her  salvation,

They would go to Janaka pura to see   the wedding

 

34Muppurari thande  palli  villathu murikkum

Kelpinodu  Seethayeyum  Vettu kondu pokum

 

He would break the bow of Shiva  who is enemy of Tripura

And  with strength  would marry  Seetha   and go

 

36,Veliyum kazhinjudane porum vazhi thannil

Parasuraman kandudane  margavum thadukkum

 

After  marriage is over , in their   way of return

Parasurama saw   them   and immediately blocked  their way

 

37.Parasuraman  thanne jayichu ayodhyathil porum

Pantheeraandu kalamangu swairamayi   vasikkum

 

After  winning over  Parasuraman, they will come to Ayodhya

And for twelve years live  there  with calm  and peace

 

38.Rajyabharam   Ramannu  kodukkam yennu  chollum

Rajyavasiyullor okkeyum varuthum

 

He will say  that the kingship  would  be given to Rama

And would make all people  living in country come

 

39.Moothayamma  thannude  vakkukalaal chollum

Yen makane   rajyam  thannil  vaazhikkkanamennum

 

Using the  worlds of the  eldest  mother  , they will tell

My son should   rule   this country

 

40.Ramane  vanathilekku  ayaykka  venamennum

Yenna  mozhi kettu  Rajan  mohichangu  vizhum

 

And also that  Rama   should be sent to the forest

And hearing these words, king will faint and fall

 

41.Ramanum  vanathilekku  yathrayangu  pokum

Kaayya  nadhi  yenna  puzha kandu   avide nilkkum

 

Rama   would  take a journey  to the forest

And He will stop when he reaches  the Kaya  river

 

42.Bakthanaam guha varanum chennu kadatheedum

Vahini  kadannudane  akkarakku chillum

Guha  who was  a great devotee would make him cross

And crossing the river  would go to the other shore

 

43.Bakthanaam Bharathanum  avide  chennu  kaanum

Neethiyode Anujane  ayodhyakku  ayakkum

 

BHaratha  who was a devotee would  go and see him there

And with justice, the younger brother will come  to Ayodhya

 

44.Dhivyanaam  agasthyaneyum  kandu  vandhichudum

Janakiyum Lakshmananum  Raghavanumai

 

They  would go and salute   the very holy  Agasthya

Sita, Lakshmana and Rama together

 

45.Pancha vatiyaya punya desathingal  chellum

Kananathil chol periya  Panchavati  theere

 

They will go to the   holy  place  called Panchavati

In the shores  of  the famous place  in the forest

 

46.Parna saala katti angu irikkumadiyamme

Annu  rathrium   kazhinju koodum adi  amma

 

They would  a thatched home and stay  there  , oh mother

And they  will spend that  night also there , oh mother

 

47.Rakshasa  kulathiloru soora naari vannu

Neethi ketta  varthakalellam pesumadiyamme

 

One bold woman belonging  to the  Rakhasa  clan would come

And oh mother  would talk all sort  of unjust  words

 

48.Ramannu athu bodhiyaanju pokayennu chollum

Lakshmananum  kopamode   mooku mula  chethum

 

Rama wil not like it and tell  her  to go

And the angry  Lakshmana will cut off her nose and breasts

 

49.Kopamodu  alari , kharan mumbil aval  veezhum

Dhooshana , trisirassukalaal  yudhavum  thudangum

 

Shouting with anger  , she will  fall  before  Khara

And war would be started by Dhooshana   and Trisiras

 

50Moone mukkal naazhikayaal Raman angu avare

Kala puram   thannilekku yathrayum  ayayukkum

 

Within one and half hour   Rama will send them on a journey

To the  city  Of the   God of death

 

51.Rakshasi   gamichudane Ravanane kaanum

Varthayangu avaludane Ravanangal  chollum

 

Rakshasi will go immediately and see  Ravana

And would   the  news immediately  to him

 

52.Ramanathu  cheithithennu Ravananum kelkkum

Ravanan udane chennu Marichane  kanum

 

Ravana hear  as what all has been done by Rama

And would immediately go  and see  Mareecha

 

53.Chennudane pon maanaayi kalikka  venam yennu

Yennathine  kettavanum vegamode  thanne

 

He said you should go there  as golden deer and play

And  hearing that , he  would go there fast

 

54.Pon niram kalarnnoru pon maanaayi theernnu

Seetha mumbil  chennu vilayadume mareechan

 

He became   a golden deer  with  the colour  of Gold

And Marrecha  went and played  before Mareecha

 

55,Maanineyum kandu seethe Ramanodu  chollum

Maanine  pidichu thara  vename  yenikku

 

Seeing the deer , Sita  will  tell  Rama

You  catch the  deer   and give me

 

56.Maan pidippan  Ramanum angu pokumadi  Amme

Bikshu  roopanayittappol Ravananum yethum

 

Oh Mother Rama then will  go to catch the deer,

And Ravana  in form of mendicant would reach there

 

57.Annu Sithaye  kondu pokumadi amme

Pokum vazhiyil  oru pakshiyum   thadukkum

 

Oh mother he will   take away Sita  on that day

And on the way of going a  bird  would try to stop  them

 

58.Pakshiyodu yudham cheithu, paksham vetty posdum

Pinne  yangu avale kondu lankayil iruthum

 

After fighting a war with that bird, he will cut  its  wings

And then  he will take her to Lanka   and keep her there

 

59.Raman aarthi poondu udane, thambiyodu  koodi

Kaananathil keri , neele nokkumadi  yamme

 

Rama   would get worried  and along with his younger brother

Enter the forest and would search for her  all along , oh mother

 

60.Bakthanaam   Jatayu thanne, vaarthayellam chollum

Punyanaaya  pakshikku  angu mokshavum  kodukkum

 

Then Jatayu who was a  devotee   would  tell all the news

And to the  holy bird  he    will give  salvation

 

61.Arka suthanum  mala mel  pediyodirikkum

Sugreevane  kondu udane sakhyavum kazhikkum

 

The son of Sun God would be on the mountain with great fear

And he will sign a  treaty immediately  with Sugreeva

 

62.Dundhubhi thala yeduthangu ambare  yeriyum

Yezhu maram  chernnu  pilanneedumadi  Raman

 

He would take the head  of Dhundhbhi  and throw it in sky

And Rama  Would   split seven trees together

 

63.Veeranaaya   Baliyeyum kollumadiyamme

Ilayavannu  naadu  kodutheedumadi  yamme

 

He will kill  the   very valorous  Vali

And give his youngdo to his  younger brother

 

64Vayu puthran , Kadannu chaadi chennu

Janakiye  kandu udane Vaarthyum Paranju

 

The Son of Wind God, would jump overand

See  Janaki and immediately  tell her news

 

65.Anguleeyam koduthu, choodaa  rathnam vaangi

Lanka chuttavan  Kadalum  chadi  yingu porum

 

After giving the ring   and getting the head brooch of gem

He will burn lanka, jump  over the sea and come back

 

66.Choda rathnam kondu  vannu raghavannu nalkum

Vaanararum  othu udan niroopnam  thudangum

 

Bringing th head brooch, he will give it to Rama,

And all the monkey would  start  reviewing

 

67.Varidhiyil van chirayum, kettumadi yamme

Ravanane  kolkayennu  devakalum  chollum

 

Oh Mother then will build a big bridge  over the sea

And the devas also tell him to kill Ravana  oh mother

 

68.Akkarakku chennudane Ravanane  Kollum

Ishtanaam vibheeshanannu Rajyavum kodukkum

 

They will go to the other shore   and immediately kill Ravana

And will give the kingdom to Vibheeshana  who is liked by them

 

69.THaruni maniyaya Sita theeyil udan chadum

Shudhiyim varuthi yangu ayodhyangal  vaazhum

 

The Gem of the lady Sita would jump  in fire

And after purification They will  in Ayodhya

 

70.Annenikku nallathoru  chela thara  venum

Chela konil naalu  panam ketti tharenam

 

That day you have  to give  me a good sari

In the corner of the Sari  you should tie four coins and give

 

71.Kayyilidum  mothirathilonnu thara  venam

Kankanangal  thaali maala peeli thara  venum

 

You should also give a ring  to be worn on the finger

You should give bangles , mangala suthra and peacock feather

 

72.Yenkalukku poka venam, poka venam thaaye

Kanchinikku kanji kodu , choru kodu yennamme

 

WE have  to go, have to go, Oh mother

For this Kanchini please give Kanji(rice broth) , and mother  give me cooked rice

73.Katti thala yenna kodu, thavidu kodamme

Kanji theli konja mennan kadi  kodennamme

 

Oh mother  for tying my hair  give me oil, give me rice bran

Please give little  solid of Kanji and give me some thing to bite

 

74.Kooda vantha  kootarikku choru kodennamme

Kathu kuthum, kaikal paarkkum, yevalumadiyamme

 

For the people whio have come with me, please give cooked rice,

I can bore the ears and see the hand, who else can do it

 

75.Kaakkayaar kalathi naangal, paandiyil piranthu

Naangalude janmamathu, neengal arivilla

 

We belong to crow like ttribe, we were born in Pandi

You do not know  about our birth

 

76.Appadi jnaan  chonnathu yellam  othu varum amme

Ippadi naan chonnathellam othu  varaanjaal

 

Whatever  I have  told you now will  become true

By chance if what I have told does not come true

 

77.Naakkaruthu poduvan, naan kunjungalathaane

Chothi mukhan aane Haranaane, Guruvaane

Ramanaane sathyamithu  naangal chonnathellam

 

I would cut my toungue and throw, oath in name of my babies

Oath  in name of Shanmukha, Oath in name of Vishnu  , Oath in name of my Guru

Oath in name  of Rama, Whatever  we have told is the truth
