(The  divinely blessed  author was  chief priest  of Guruvayur   twice  (1917 and 1920).He has tried , with great success  to  summarise  Meppathur BHattathiris  Narayaneeyam  .He has summarized the book of more  than 4000 lines  in to a work  of 400 lines

 

 

1.Guruvayurappan thande  sandrananda  swaroopathe

Gunamerum vannam bangyaa varnicheedunnu

Sarva deva devanaakum Bhagavane Bhajikkenam

SArva  janathodum patteri collunnu

 

The  forever  joy  giving form of  Guruvayurappan

Is being prettily  described  so that  goodness  will incfease

And we have praise   the god who is  god  of all devas

Says  BHattathiri  to every  person.

 

2.Bhagawande  swaroopathil  madhurya  madhuryatheyum

Bhagawath bakthi thannude mahathmyatheyum

Bhakthi poorvam  paadidunnu bhaktha jana thathikkayi

Bhakthiyekum  chithardhrathakkayi prarthikku

 

For the  sake of  improvement  of devotees , he is singing  devotedly

The  sweet sweetness  of   the  form of God

And the  greatness of  the  devotion  to God

And he says pray for the soft merciful mind given by  devotion

 

3.Vayupuri vanedunna Viswa roopanodu, vipran

Veendum veendum  prarthikkunnu bakthiyundaavaan

Vandanavum  namaskara  poojadhiyum  cheitheeduvaan

Vasu deva  padhangalil  samarppikkunnu

 

The Brahmin addressing   the super great form of Guruvayur

Aggain and again prays   for  getting  devotion

And for doing salutation  and worship involving  salutations

And dedictes  it to the  feet of God  Vasudeva

 

4.Yama  niyamaadhikalaam  ashtanga yogathinaale

Yamuna than  nadhan thande padhathil yethaan

Vividhamaam  upayangal  paranjeedunnallo  pinne

Vivasanaam  thanne  Rakshippanum prarthikkunnu

 

Due  to religious rules and fastings, due to Ashtanga Yoga

To reach the  feet of the  lord of Yamuna

He is telling   various type of methods and later

He prays god to protect him  who is deeply  tired

 

5.Pralayathin kala  sesham, yellam nischalamayappol

Prpanchamo  andam poaleyayi maarinaan

Prapancha  nadhanaam devan chaithanyathe  nirachappol

Prapanchamo  chaithanyamullathum aayallo

 

After   the  time of great  deluge, when everythimg became still

He changed   the  universe  similar  to form of egg

And when the lord  of universe filled it with divine  power

The universe  became  one  with  power.

 

6.Pathinnaalu lokathilum  niranju nilkkunna deva-

Padhadhi  avayavangal vanichidunnu

Paramathma  chaithanyathin yee  roopathe manujaro

Prarthikkenam  karmathinde  avasaanam

 

He then describes the limbs   and feet  of God,

That  fills   up all the cfourteen worlds

And human beings should pray this form , which is

The form of divine  power, which is  end of all action

 

7.Sathya loke Brahma devan niravathi  valsarangal

Sathya  swaroopan Bhagawane  thapassu cheithu

Samthrupthanai Bhagawanum, thapaswiyam Brahmavinnu

Swaroopa  darasanameki  anugrahichu

 

For several  years Lord  Brahma  did penance  in Sathya loka

Aimed  at pleasing God  who had form of truth

The  pleased  god, showed  his complete form,

To Lord Brahma  who was doing penance and blessed him

 

8.Naimithika pralayamayi sakalathum  nischalamayi

Vaikunta naabhiyil ninnum Brahmavundayee

Swayam prakasithamaya  Veda  samoohavumayi

Swayambhuvayi   Brahma  devan  minni  thilangi

 

A causal deluge  took place  and every thing became still

From the belly  of Lord Vishnu  , Brahma was  created

The self resplendent  society  of Vedas  created

The  birth less God Brahma  shined greatly

 

9.Thamara  than udbhavathe  kandathilla Brahma devan

Thamara  sthithanaam devan thapam thudangi

Thamara  kannan Bhagawan , Brahma  manam thannil minni

Thamasamillathe  srishti  thudangiyallo

 

The God Brahma did  not see  the birth  of Lotus

The  God  who was  on the lotus  started  doing penance

The God with lotus eyes  shined in mind  of Brahma

And without   any delay  , creation got started

 

10.Jangamangal , sthavarangal, yennu venda sakalathum

Janmam kondu  Brahma srishti vaibhavathaale

Vedamundayi, rudranundayi, manuvum , satha roopayum

Vivahitharayi ivar Brahma  chinthayaal

 

Movble, immovable, not only that everything

Took their birth due to variety  of creation of Brahma

Vedas  were created, Rudra  was created , Manu as well as Satha roopi

They became married due   to thought of Brahma

 

11.Munimaar vaikundamethi , mushkuu kaatti kaval kaarum

Munimaar sapichu , sura  vairikal aakaan

Moonnu lokam keezhadakkum  Hiranyanmaarayi  avar

Mukkiyallo bhoomiyeyum  vellathingalaayi

 

The sages  reached  Vaikunta, the guard there showed pride  and insulted

The  sages  cursed them to become enemies  of devas

They became Hiranyas   who made three  worlds   as theirs

He  drowned  the earth   and it went below water.

 

12,Bhoomiye kaananjappol manu vere  dukhithanai

Brahman prarthichappol mookkiludeyai

Brahmesanum  varahamayi purathethi , valuthayi

Bhoomiyeyum  udharichu, aascharyam thanne

 

When earth disappeared  Manu became  greatly sad

When Brahma  prayed, it became  through his nose

And Lord of Brahma became a boar  and came out, he became big

And  brought out the earth, wonder  of wonders

 

13.Naradande vaakku kettu asuraanaaam  hiranyakshan

Narayanane pidikkan irangiyallo

Naaka lokam nokki nilke Hiranyane  Bhagawaanum

Nigrahichu, devanmaaro pookal  chorinju

 

Hearing the  words of sage Narada, Hinyaksha   the asura

Got ready  to catch  lord Narayana

When the world of snakes  was seeing, the god  ,

Killed  Hiranya and devas  showered  flowers on him

 

14,Brahma puthran kardhamano poojichallo , yere kaalam

Brahmesano  prathyakshanayi, varangal yeki

Kardhamannu bharyayee, manu puthri Deva hoothi

Kapilanaayi  pathaamayi  bhagawanethi

 

Kardhama the son of Brahma worshipped for  long time

The Lord  of Brahma  came before him and gave  him boons

Devahoothi the daughter  of Manu became  wife of Kardhama

And as tenth God  reached  as Kapila

 

15.Moksha hethu yennilulla bakthi mathram, jnana, karma

Yogangalkkum lakshyam yennil saranagathi

Kapilande  upadesam Ammakku yeki  Athma  Bodham

Kapilano yathrayayi, Amma sidhayayi

 

The reason for salvation is  only devotion to me, Jnana, Karma

And Yoga  would aim to get  surrendered  to me

This lesson of Kapila gave his mother  understanding of Athma

Kapila went awat and Mother  became a  Sidha

 

16.Avathara  moorthikalayi , Nara  Narayananmaarum

Ahangaaram Dakshannu yekiPuthree viyogam

Avanude thala poyee aadin thalyaakki Rudran

Avasanam Vishnuvethi , yellam Shubhamayee

 

Nara and Narayana  who were  forms of incarnation

Gave pride to Rudra, due   to parting  of his daughter

He lost his head   and got  a head  of goat

At the end  Vishnu reached  and everything became all right

 

17.Uthana pada  puthranaam druvano van kaattilethi

Uthamaam manthrangalaal  thapassu cheithu

Uthamanaam bhagawano,prathyakshamayi  varam yeki

Uthamaam dhruva padham nedi  Kumaaran

 

Druva the  son of Uthana padha  reached a big forest

And he did penance  using  very great  manthraas

The best god came before him and gave  him boon

The boy got the  very great  status  of Dhruva

 

18.Anga puthran venan thande angangal  kadanja neram

Athyadhika  thejassode Pruthu undaayee

Anupamamaayee Rajyam bharichallo Prathu Rajan

Anugraham nalkaan yethi   Maha  vishnuvum

 

When the body limbs of Vena  , the son of Anga was  churned

Prathu with very great  luster   was  produced

The king Prathu  ruled  his kingdom matchlessly

And Maha  Vishnu  came there  to give  him blessing

 

19.Pracheena barhassin puthranmaaaraam prachethassukalo

Prabhuvaakum Bhagawane  Thapassu cheithu

Thapam kondu santhushtanayi varam yeki bhagawanum

Thaapam theernnu avarude  puthrnayi Dakshan

 

Prachethas who were  the sons of Pracheetha  Barhiss

Did penance addressed  to the lord who is God

The God pleased  with their penance  gave them boons

After  the penance  got over Daksha  became  their son

 

20 .Priyavritha parambara thannil  Nadhee puthranayi

Priyamerum Rishabhano  avatharichu

Priyapetta rajavayi, nanmayulla  pithaavayi,

Priyare  vedinju pinnu  avadhoothanayee

 

IN the  great  family  of Priya Vritha, as son of river

The very dear  Rishabha  took incarnation

He became a dear  king, and a  very good  father

Then he left  his  dear  ones  and became an Avadhootha

 

21,Nava Varshangalil pinne yezhu dweepukalil devan

Namikka pedunnu  bhaktha  janathaal

Sandhya  thorum  simsumara  roopiyai vilangunnu]

Sankarshanan pathaalathil sadhaa  minnunnu

 

In the next nine years  the  god   is  being ,

Saluted  in seven islands by  the  devotees

During every  dawn, noon and dusk , he is there in the crocodile   form

And  Sankashana always  shines in Patala

 

22.Ajamilan dharmam vittu, maranathin samayatho

Ariyaathe Narayana  yennu vilichu

Athi vegam Vishnu dhoothanmaar vannu , yama pasam neengi

Anthanano moksham nedi nama japathaal

 

Ajamila left off his Dharma but  during time of his death

Without knowing  He called “Narayana”

With swiftness the emissaries  of Vishnu came and yama’s rope was taken out

And the Brahmin  got salvation  due to chanting of divine name

 

23.Daksha saapam Naradannu anugrahamaayi maari

Daithya pouthran , devendrannu  rakshakanayi

VRithrane  vadhichu Indran, Chithra kethu kadha  paadi

Dithi puthraril  chilaro  indra  pakshamyee

 

The curse  of Daksha  became a blessing to Narada

The grand son of Asura  became protector  of devendra

Indra killed  Vrithr and Chithra  Kehu  sang that  story

And some of the sons of Dithi became supporters of Indra

 

24.Hiranya kasipu Rajan, thapam cheithu  varam nedi

Hari bakthan prahladhano mathrukyaayee

Hari Bakthi kandu Rajan, kopishtanaayee  droham cheithu

Halilaliki, Hiranyano  thoonil idichu

 

The  king Hiranya Kasipu  did penance   and got boons

And prahladha  the devotee of Vishnu became an example

Seeing his devotion  to Vishnu , the king became mad  with anger

And  Hiranya   hit the pillar

 

25.Athyadhbutha  roopathode manuja kesariyaayee

Avatharam cheithu Vishnu thoonnu  pilarnnu

Asurande  maaru  keeri, prahladhannu varam yeki

Anavadhya  roopan BHaktha  rkshakanaayi

 

With greatlt wonderful form he  tok incarnation

As Man lion and  Vishnu  broke  open the pillar

He  tore open chest of  Asura and gave boons  to Prahladha

Taking many forms  he became  protector  of a devotee

 

26.Muni saapaal indra dhymnan Aanayayee  maariyallo

Muthala pidi koodinaan  aana than kaalil

Mujjanma suhrudathale, pala vidha  sthuthi cheithu

Muranthakan Hariyaayee  Kari rakshakkai

 

Due to curse  of sage Indra  Dhyumna  became an elephant

One crocodile  caught hold of leg of that  elephant

Due to good things done  in previous birth, he prayed to him in various ways

The killer  of Mura became Lord Hari for protection of elephant

 

27.Durvasa  saapam deva  aiswaryarthe illaathaakki

Dukham theeraan paal kadalu  kadanjeedenam

AAmayaayi Mandarathe  uyarthiya bhagawano,

Ajithanaai  madhanathe  sahaayichallo

 

The curseof Durvasa made prosperity  of devas not there,

For getting sorrow over they  need to churn the ocean of milk

Becoming a turle  God raised up the  mandhara mountain

AS one who cannot be defeated  he  helped the churning

 

28.Kalakoodam kailasesan bhujichallo, Lakshmi devi

Kar varnane  bharthaavai  varichuvallo,

Asurarum swanthamaaki  vaaruniye madhyathode

Amruthamayi yethi dhanvanthari  moorthiyum

 

Did  not  the lord of  Kailasa  eat the kala kooda poison,

Did not Goddess  Lakshmi make  the black God   as her husband,\

The asuras  made  the  ocean as theirs from the middle,

And God Dhanvanthar reached  there  with Amrutha(nectar)

 

29.Amruthine asuranmaar  thatti  yyeduthu odiyappol

Amaresan sundariyaam mohiniyayi

Asuranmaar mohitharaayi, Amrutho surarkku kitti

Athi ghora  yudha mundayi  , devar jaychu

 

When Asuras snatched  the Amrutha and started running

The lord of the devas  became Mohini, a lady  who attracts

Asuras  fell for her charms, the devas  got  the  Amrutha

There   was a fierce battle   and devas   won it

 

30 Baliyude darpam theerkkan, adithi than puthranayi

Balaka  ropathil, devan avatharichu

Balanengilumthejaswiyaya Vamana  Padhangal

Bali yere  bakthiyode  kazhukiyallo

 

For destroying the pride  of Bli God  took incarnation

And was born in the form of boy as son of Adhithi

Though he was a boy ,Mahabali  with great  devotion

Washed  the  shining  feet  of Vamana

 

31. Bhuloka nadhanaam  Bali yenthu venam , yennu urakke

Moonadi venam  yennothi vamanan

Randu adiyaale lokamellam  alannu, bali thannude

Sirassil moonaam padham Vachu anugrahichu

 

Bali who was lord of   all the world asked him , what he wants,

Vamana told that he wants   three  feet  of soil

He measured all  the worlds by two steps and kept,

His third step  on Head of Bali  and blessed him.

 

32.Vedangale kattedutha Hayagreevasurane

Vettayaadaan avathaaram cheithu bhagawan

Sathya vritha rajavinde karathile mathsya  kunju

Pralaya samayam oru maha mathsyamayi

 

God took ian incarnation   to hunt for  ,

Hayagrevasura  who robbed the Vedas

The  baby fish in the hands of king Sathya vritha

Became a  very huge fish  during the deluge

 

33.Ambarekshan aduthai  durvasanam Muni yethi,

Parana veedaan aagaathe Rajan kuzhanju

Bhaktha dasanaaya devan muniyeyu upekshichu

Ambareeksha padangale muni  namichu

 

Sage Durvasa    reached  to Ambareeksha

Unable   to break his fast , King was in trouble
The God who is servant of devotee, forsook the sage

Then the sage saluted   the feet of Ambareeksha

 

34.Dasaratha puthran Raman  seethaye  vivaham cheithu

Thatha vakhyam sathyamaakkaan Kaattilum yethi

Soorpanakha viroopamayi, Ravanano kopishtanaayi
Dasananan  Seethayeyum apaharichu

 

Rama, the son of Dasaratha  married   Sita

For making father’s words true, he reached  the forest

Soorpanakha  was disfiguered, Ravana  became very angry

The ten faced one kidnapped  Sita

 

35.Rama Bakthan Lankayil poi, seethayeyum kandu, Raman

Ravanane nigrahichu, Rajyam Bharichu

Ramano seethaye  thyajichu, puthranmaaraam  lava  kusanmaar

Ramayanam paadi, Raman deham thyajichu

 

The devotee of Rama  went to Lanka , saw Seetha,

Rama killed Ravana, ruled his  country

Rama gave up Seetha, His sons  Lava  and Kusha

Sang  story of Rama, Rama gave up his body

 

36.Jamadagni puthranaakum Raman, parasuvum yenthi

Heheya Rajane konnu  prathikaramayi

Jamadgni  kolla pettu, kshatriyanthakanayi  Raman

Keralathe udhaichu  viprarkku  nalki

 

Rama who was son of Jamadagni,held an axe,

And killed king of hehaya as  revenge

Jamadagni was  killed, Rama became  killer of  Royal families,

He took out Kerala and  gave  it to Brahmins

 

37.Vasumathi dukham theerkkaan Vishnuvethum yennarinju

Vasudevan devakiye  vettu  venda poal

Vaanile  vaakkukal kettu , valuyarthi  kamsa rajan

Vasudeva  puthranmaare  konnu kamsanum

 

Vaumathi came to know that Vishnu  will come  to end her sorrow

In a proper manner  Vasudeva  got married  to DEvaki

Hearing  the sound from sky, King Kamsa  lifted his sword

And Kamsa  killed  the  sons  of Vasudeva

 

38.Sarva loka anandathinde velayil , karagrahathil

Sarveswaran Krishnanaayi avatharichu

Sthuthichallo  Vasudevan, unniyeyum yeduthittu

Savadhanam  nadannallo  Ambadiyeyum thedi

 

During the great  joy of entire world, in the jail.

The god of all took incarnation as Krishna

Vasudeva prayed to him and then taking the baby

Steadily he walked towards place of cow herds.

 

39.Nanda pathnikku  aduthaayi unniye  kidathi, pinne

Nandajaye yeduthittu  thirichu ponnu

Nandaja  , than kaal pidichu kollan aanju kamsan, devi

Nabhassilekku  uyarnnallo, nandothsavamayi

 

He laid the baby near  wife of Nanda and,

Came back carrying the  daughter of Nanda

Kamsa caught hold of legs of  daughter of Nanda for killing her

But she rose  up in the sky and festival started in Nanda’s home

 

40.Kamsanaale  ayachoru  Poothanayaam Rakshasiyo,

Kannan ambadiyil vannoru naalil

Kannanu  yeki visha  mula, Jeevan yeduthallo  kannan

Kannu thalli  , Rakshasiyum  marichu  veenu

 

One Rakshasi  called Poothana   sent  by Kamsa,

On a day   when Krishna  had  come to home of Nanda

And gave poisoned  breast   to Kanna and Kanna robbed  her life

With eyes  coming out  That  Rakshasi  fell dead.

 

41.Poothana  than sareerathe kathichallo gopalarum

Poothayaakki  bhagwanum  Rakshasi  janmam

Poornmaya   Bhagawanu raksha  cheithu  gopikamaar

Paramanandhathe  nedi  yasodhayum

 

The gopalas(cow herds)  burnt  the  body  of Poothana

The God made  the life  of Rakshasi    as useless

And Gopis  made  protective rituals  to God who was complete

And Yasodha  got  divine  joy

 

42. Vandiyude roopam poondu vannethinaan  kamsa bruthyan

Vandu tholkkum kannande  sampeepam yethi

Kondalvarnan kalu kondu  sparsichathey ullu pakshe

Vandi  thakarnnu  asuranum  marichu  veenu

 

One servant of Kamsa came and reached in form of cart

He reached  near Kanna  who would  defeat  even the bees

The one who had chosen colour only  touched  it with his leg

That cart got broken  and the Rakshasa  fell  dead

 

43.Kaathayi vannu  trinavartham, kannane thakarkaanayi

Katha kaaroli varnano  mandahasichu

Kazhuthilai  pidi koodi nanda Puthran asurande

Kazhuthu jerichu konnu  vrijam  sthambichu

 

Trinavartha came  as  wind to break  Kanna

But the one  with colour  of rich cloud only slowly smiled

The son of Nanda   caught  hold of the neck of Asura

He stangled his neck and killed him  theVrija desa (Krishnas country) got benumbed

 

44.Yaadhavar  than guruvaakum  Gargacharyaar vannu chernnu

Nanda gopa grahathilekku  oru divasam,

Ramanennum Krishnanennum  peru  nalki unnikalkkum,

Bhagwande  mahimakal muni paranju

 

The  Gaegacharya  the Guru  of  Yadhavas  one reached,

To the home  of Nanda gopa   one day

He gave the names Rama  and Krishna  to the babies

And then sage  told  about greatness of God

 

45.Bala leela yadidunnu balakaraam unnikalum

Bahu vidhamaya  kali kouthuka karam

Balanothu moshanathe   nadathunnu  kannan unni

Baliyeppol  gopikalum sarvavum  nalkunnu

 

The  boys who were  only children played  baby games

Nd the various types of games is indeed interesting

Kanna along with Balarama does  theft

And Gopis like  Mag habali give  everything

 

46.Mannu thinnu kannan yennu koottu karu cholliyappol

Mannu kaanaan  , amma cholli  , vayu thurakkan

Mannu mathramalla, vinnum sakala characharavum
Mani varnnan ammakku kaatti koduthu

 

When the friends   told  that Kanna  ate  Mud,

To see  the mud , mother told him to open his mouth,

But not  only mudm but sky and all movable and immovable beings

Was shown  by Manivanna(Krishna)   to his  mother

 

47.Amma  thairu  kadayunna nerathu , madiyil yeri

Amminja   kudichu  Krishnan, Amma poyappol

Athydhika  kopathode, kalam thatti pottichallo

Amma vannu unniyeyum uralil  ketti

 

When mother  was churning the curd,he climbed on her lap

And Krishna  fed her  breasts and mother went some where

With very great  anger, he beat  and broke  the pot

And mother came and tied him on a mortar.

 

48.Uralum  valichu kannan  purthekku irangi  melle

Uyaramullathaam  randu maram marichu

Unnikalaam koottu kaaro  pedichodi, aa samayam

Uthama  Kubhera puthrar    sthuthikkan yethi

 

Dragging the mortar  kanna  slowly  went outside,

He uprooted   two tall   trees’

The friends who were babies got scared  and ran off

The good   sons  of Khubera sang prayers  about him

49.Ambadiyil  anu dhinam   apakatam nadakkave

Avarellam vrindvanam thedi poyallo

Athi manoharamaaya Vrindavanam   yere  dhanyam

Achyuthanum pasukkale  palichu  modhaaal

 

Due to accidents   happening  daily in Gokula

They all  went  to Brindavan

The very pretty  Brindavan, was  very rich

And Achyutha  herded the cattle   with joy

 

50.Pasuvaayi paanjadutha  vathsanaam  asuraneyum

Pasupalan  Krishnan   konnu  valicherinju

Parvatham poal  valuthaya Bakan yenna  asurane

Paranjayachallo  Kala purikku  Krishnan

 

When the asura called Vathsa taking  the form of cow  and rushed at him

The cow herder Krishna  killed  him and threw  him out

Krishna    sent to the  kingdom of death , Baka

Who was  an asura  as big   as mountain.

 

51.Aghasuran  paambaayi  vannu  vayi  thurannu  kidakkave

Athi ghora  guhayennu  karuthi gopar

Akathu  kayari, devan avaneyum  nigrahichu

Anantharam  goparkothu oonu  kazhichu

 

When Agasura came in the form and was  lying down with open mouth

Gopalas thought  it was  a terrible  cave

And went inside, god  killed  him also

And later  he took food   with those  Gopalas

 

52Kannande pasukkaleyum , gopa vrinda  samohavum

Kaanaathakki  Brahma devan , Kannan chirichu

Padma nethran  avayellam puna srushti  cheitha neram

Padma sambhavanum yethi Kshama yaachichu

 

Once Brahma  made his cattle  heard  and group of Gopalas vanish

And  then Krishna  only  just  laughed

And the lotus eyed one  started   creating  them again

And the lord born out of lotus  reached  and begged  pardon  of Krishna

 

53.Pasukkale mechidunna Kannanu unni  oru  dinam

Panam thenga thinnan yethi, dhenuka vane

Parama dushtanaakunna  dhenukane  konnu   Raman

Paramanandathodu  avar madangi melle

 

The Boy Kanna who was herding   the cattle, one day

Entered the Dhenuka  forest  to eat  the palm fruits

Bala Rama  killed  the extremely   bad  dhenuka

And  with extremely great  joy  they  slowly returned

 

54 Saubhari  muni thannude sapathaale raksha nedi

Sarppamaakum   kaliyan  kalindhiyil yethi

Kalindhi jalam  kudichu gopanmaro chathu veenu

Karunabdhi  kadakshathaal  jeevippichello

 

Escaping  due  to the curse  of   sage Saubhari

The kaliya  the serpent  reached  river Yamuna

And the gopalas who drang river water  fell down dead

Due to   sight  of the  ocean of mercy   they  were made alive

55.Kadambin mugalil keri   kannan chadi kalindhiyil

Kaliyano bhagawane  varinju chuthi

Kadinamaam vishamulla   kaliyande phanangalil

Kannan unni  nruthamaadi   , lokam rasichu

 

Climbing on the top of the steps , Krishna  jumped  in to Yamuna

Kaliya  tied  the   god very tightly

On the head of Kaliya  who was greatly  poisonous

The baby  Krishna   danced   and the people  enjoyed it

 

56.Naga  pathnimaarum  pinne Kaliyanum  sthuthichuvallo

Narayanan   avareyum  paranju  ayachu

Theera bhoovil  gopa  jana,  kidakkunna  samayathu

Theeyananju   devanathu  Bakshanamaakki

 

Later  the wife of the sepent  amd Kaliya himself  prayed to him

And Narayana sent them  away from there

When the gopalas were  lying on the shore with fire

The fire got put out  and god made  it his eatable

 

57.Gopalanaayi vesham   maari yethhiyallo pralambanum

Gopi kanthan thande  paksham  chernna samayam

Kalappaye  aayudhamayi mathiyoru  Bala Raman

Kala purikku ayachallo pralambaneyum

 

Then Pralamba reached  there  dressing himself as Gopala

And when he joined   the side  of  the lord of Gopis

Balarama changed  his plough  in to a weapon

Sent Pralamba  to the city of death

 

58.Kananamaam aishikathil kalikale  meyukkum neram

Kaattu theeyethi , kannano  kudichaan agni

Rithukkalum  maari yethi, pala pala kreeeda  cheithu

Rishikalum  pojikkunna   Nanda kumaran

 

When they were  herding cattle  in the  grass land of the forest ,

The forest fire reached and Krishna simply  drank it

The season in different forms reached  and played  various type of games

The Nandakumara  who was even worshipped  by the sages

 

59,Venu ghaanam kelkkum neram, gopimaar  yellam marakkum

Venu thande  bhagyam yennu oarthu  adbutham koorum

Kaaman  thande varathaale, gopa  sundarimar kkullil

Kaama  roopan   bhagawano  niranju ninnu

 

At the time when you hear  the music of flute, Gopis  will forget  everything

Thinking that  it is the luck of flute, they would express  their surprise

Due  to the boon of  God of love, in side   the  pretty Gopis

The God with form of love  would stand completely filled up

 

60.Nandajane bharthavaayi  labhikkuvaam  gopikalo

Nanda  puthri deviyeyum prarthikkum  neram

Naarimaar than vasthrangale Narayanan katteduthu

Naanam  maari gopikamaar  dhanya dhanyaaraayi

 

When the Gopis  were  praying to the Nanda’s  daughter devi

For  getting the son  of Nanda   as their  husband

Narayana stole  the  dresses  of  the ladies

And getting rid of their shame Gopis  greatly enjoyed.

 

61. Viprarude yaagathekkal  yenikkishtam yennum yennum

Vipra pathnimaar    nalgunna bhojyangalallo

Viswa devan parayunnu bakthiyllaa pravruthikal

Vishnuvinnu pathyamallaa   samsayam vendaa

 

For ever ever  , more  than the  yagas  of Brahmins

What I like   is the  food that  the wives of Brahmins give

Viswadeva says actions  without  devotion

Is not liked  by God Vishnu , let there  be no doubt about it

 

62.Gopalanmaar  indranaayi  yagam cheyyan orungave

Gokulesan  bhagawanum  evam paranju

Govardhana girikkai poojakale  nalgidenam

Gopalanmaar  cheithu   indran kayarthu

 

When gopalas   prepared  to do yaga  for indra

The  god who is  lord of Gokula  told like this

You have  do worship  to govardhana mountain

Gopalas  did it and Indra  became  very angry

 

63.Indra garvam  mazhayaayi gokulathil  peithidave

Chandra vamsa jathan  Krishnan punchiri  thooki

Govardhana giriyeyum  kudayaakki  yezhu dhinam

Gopalanmaar  easwaranayi   kandu kannane

 

The pride of Indra   rained a lot in Gokula

Krishna  who was born in clan of moon , smiled  a little

And made Govardhana mountain as umbrella  for seven days

Gopalas saw Krishna  as God

 

64.Garga vakhyam  gopanmaare kelpichallo Nanda  Gopan

Swarga rajan  gokulathil  vannu  chernnallo

Surabhi than ksheerathaale abhishikthanaayi  Govindan

Varuna  puriyil yethi   Thatha  Rakshakkai

 

Nanda gopa made  them hear  the words  of sage Garga

The king of heaven has  reached  the Gokula

Govinda  was anointed  with  the milk of cow(Surabhi)

And Govinda  reached  town of Varuna  for protecting his father

 

65.Rasa kreda   nadathuvaan  kuzhal oothi madhavanum

Radhikaadhi  gopikamaar  odiyananju

SArvavum marannu gopa naarimaar  oro ganam kelkke

Swargathil  yethiya poale  vibhranthar  aayi

 

Madhava played  his flute  to play  Rasa Kreeda (A form of dance)

Gopis  including Radha  came  running

Heaing different songs  Gopis  forgot   everything

They became  mad as if they have  reached  heaven

 

66,Gopimaarkku  parmaam thathwa bodhatheyum nalki

Govindano avar koppam  leelakal aadi

Gokkale poal govindane otti chernnu ninnanavar

Gopalan  gada gaadam  ketti  punarnnu

 

He gave divine essence  of philosophy to the Gopis

But Govinda  played   several sports  with them

Like the cows they stood   rubbing against  Govinda

Gopala tightly and very tightly hugged and caressed them

 

67.Athirillaa aanandathil  ahankaram uyarnnallo

Avide  ninnu maranju  Nanda  kisoran

Aviduthe roopam thedi  gopimaar onnadangam

Alanjallo , avasaanam kandu kittinaan

 

In the limitless  joy  their pride  became high

Then the son of Nanda   vanished  from there

Searching for his form  , all the Gopis  together

Wandered  and at the end  they got him

 

68 ,Thapam theernnu gopimaarkkum, premam ullil kalindhiyayi

Thamarekshana  paadharthil samarppikkave,

Thaarunya thidambukalaam  gopimaarum othu chernnu

Thamara  kannanum pala  karyangal cholli

 

The mental agony came  to end to the Gopis, vut love became like Yamuna  in their heart

When they offered it   at the feet  of the lotus  eyed one

The   Gopis who were  dams  of youth  joined  together

And the  lotus eyed  one  told them many things

 

69.Aattamaadi  paattu padi  gopikamaarothu  kannan

Aanandathin samudhrathil  mungi ponginaan

Oro  gopikalkkumayi oro vesham sweekarichu

Ororo  tharathil  dhivya leelakal  aadi

 

Krishna played   plays and sang songs   with Krishna

They drowned  and came up in ocean of joy

He  took different forms  for each Gopi

And played different types of divine sports  with them

 

70.Nandane  pambu  vizhungi, kannan nalgi   ssapa moksham

Naarimaare katteduthu sankha  choodanum

Nandajan avane  konnu, kaalayaakum  arishtanum

Naarayanan nalgi mukthi  nigrahathaale

 

One sepent swallowed  Nanda, Krishna freed him from effect of curse

Sankha chooda  kidnapped    the ladies

The son of Nanda  killed him and for bull called  Arishta

Narayana  gave  salvation  by killing him

 

71.Aswamayi vanna kesiyeyum nigrahichu

Viswa roopanaakum kannan vrindavanathil

Gopanaayi vannananja vyoman yenna asuraneyum

Golokesan  nigrahichu , adbutham thanne

 

Krishna  who had super  great form in Vrindavana,

Killed  an  sura   called  Kesi   who came  as horse,

The Lord  of Goloka  also killed   as asura  called  Vyoma

Who came  as a  gopa boy, it is greatly  wonderful

 

72.Athi krooran kamsa rajan , naradande vaakku kettu

Akroorane Vrindhavanathilekku  Ayachu

Athyadhikam bakthiyode akrooran  ananja neram

Achyuthano  sweekarichu poojayum  cheithu

 

The very cruel  king Kamsa  , hearing the words of sage Narada

Sent Akroora    to Brindavana

At the time when Akroora  reached  there  with great  devotion

Achyutha   received  him    and also  worshipped  him

 

73, Yasodhayum  gopimaarum  kannu neeru  thoogi nilke

Yadhu vamsa  Krishnan  Madhurakku  poyinaan

Yathra madhye  Akroorannu Vaikunda  darsanam nalki

Yamikalum  poojikkunna  Viswa rakshakan

 

When Yasodha and  the Gopis were  standing shedding tears

Krishna  who belonged to Yadhu clan, went to Mathura

In the middle  of the Journey  The protector of universe,

Who  was being worshipped  by great sages showed Akrrora  , the Vaikunta

 

74.Madhurayil  Rajakane  konnu thalli Mani varnan

Manohara  vasthram nalki  neithu karanum

Malyameki  Malakkaran, chandanathe  nalgiyoro

Maliniye   Bhawano  sundariyaakki

 

IN Mathura  he who had gem like colour  killed  the washerman

The  weaver  gave  him   very  pretty  cloths

The merchant of garland  gave him garland, Malini  gave,

Him  sandal paste  and he made  her very pretty

 

75.Matha gajatheyum konnu , muthu nalki changathikkum

Maalayaakki kodukkenam Radakku  Yennu  odhi

Mallanmaare  konnu odukki, mathulannu  moksham yeki

Matha  pithakkale kandu   manjula roopan

 

After killing ferocious elephants, , his friend  gave him

Pearls  and told   him to make a garland  and give it to Radha

He killed   the wrestlers , gave  salvation to his uncle

And  the pretty one  saw  his mother and father

 

76.Marichoru puthraneyum guru dakshinayai  nalgi

Udhavane  ambadikku  yathra aakkinaan

Uthamamaam gopikal than nishkama bakthikku  munnil

Udhavano  namaskaram   cheithu  madangi

 

He gave as fee to the Guru  , their  on;y dead son,

He sent Udhava  to Gokula on a visit

Before  the very detached  attachment of the Gopis

Udhava   saluted   and  returned back

 

77.Sairandrikku  puthraneyum , akroorannu  bakthiyeyum

Vaiknta  nadhanaam  Krishnan Pakarnnu nalki

Jarasandhane  tholpichu, muchukunda  nethragniyil

Yavanane  chutterichu  , dwaraka theerthu

 

Krishna  the lord  of Vaikuta  gave a son to SAirandhri

And gave   devotion to Akrrora

He  defeated Jarasandha and burnt  Yavana  ,

In the eye fire of Muchukunda and built  Dwaraka

 

78.Dwarakayil balaraman revathiye  vettuvallo

Devi Rugmaniyo  Krishna padham mohichu

Dwijan yethi  devi thande  samdhesathe  nalgiyallo

Deva devan vipran othu  kundinam yethi

 

In Dwaraka  Balarama  got married  to Revathi

But  princess Rugmani , desired   the position of Krishna

And the Brahmin gave the message  of the princess

And the  god of Gods along with the Brahmin reachedKundina

 

79.Ambalathil thozhaanaayi vannu ananja Rugmaniye

Ambuja  nethranaam  Krishnan theril Kayathi

Rugmiye tholpichu Krishnan, dwarakayil  veli aagosham

Rugmi than   ahankaram theerthu Krishnan

 

When Rugamani came  and reached  the temple  to worship

Krishna  the lotus  eyed one  , made her  climb his chariot

Krishna defeated Rugmi, the marriage celeberation in Dwaraka

And Krishna put   an end  to pride  of Rugmi

 

80.Syamanthakam  nashtappettu , kaattil yethi  Sri Krishnanum

Suthayeyum  rathnatheyum nalki Jambhavan

Bhagawan Bhamaye  vettu, sathrajithu  kolla pettu

Syamanthakam  akroorannu nalki  Bhagawan

 

Syamanthaka  gem was  lost, Bhagwan reached   the forest

Jambavan gave  him his daughter   as well  as the gem

Bhagawan married Bhama, Sathrajith got killed

BHagawan gave Syamanthaka   to Akroora

 

81.Mithravinda, Kalindi, nal sathya Bhadra, Lakshmanayum

Mithra thulyan  bhagwande  pathnimaaraayi

Subadhraye Arjunannu  Nalki, Narakane konnu

Naarimaare  sweekarichu swargathilethi

 

Mithra vinda  , Kalindhi  , good Sathya , Badhra  , Lakshmana

All these  became the wives  of the God equal to friend

Subadhra  was given to Arjuna, He killed  Narakasura

He received the ladies    and reached the heaven

 

82.Pradhyumnano Sambarane  nigrahichu  thirichethi

Bana puthri  Anirudha  pathniyai

Banane  tholpichu Krishnan , hari hara  Yudhamundaayi

Ondhaai vanna nruganeki  poorva  swaroopam

Pradhyumna  killed  SAmbara  and returned back

The   daughter of Bana  became   wife of Anirudha

Krishna  defeated  Bana, there  was  a war between Lord Shiva  and Vishnu

He gave old form to Nruga  who came in form of lizard

 

83.Bhagawande   veshamitta  Poundrakannu   nalki  Moksham

BHagawano  Kasi rajyam   chuttu  karichu

Vividhane Balaraman konnu, Duryodhana puthri

Lakshanaye saamban  thande  swanthamaakki

 

BHagawan gave salvation to Poundraka who put on his form,

Bhagawan  also burnt the country of Kasi

Balarama killed  Vividha Samba  made  ,

Lakshana daughter  of Duryodhana as his own

 

84.Grahana samayamonnil  Samantha panchakathingal

Bhagawane kaanaan yethi sarva janavum

Vasudevan gopimaarkku  aathma thathwam  pakarnnallo,

Vasudevan pala vidha  yajangal cheithu

 

During  solar eclipse  all the  people  came,

To see Bhagawan  in Samantha  panchakam

Vasudeva  taught  philosophy of  soul to the Gopis

Vasudeva    also did  many fire sacrifices

 

85.Bhima senan  Jarasandha  nigrahavum nadathinaan

Bhemagrajan Raja  sooyam nadathi  Bangyaa

Agra pooja   sweekarichu, athimodham   Srikrishnanum

Anantharam sisupalaneyum vadhichu

 

Bhima sena  managed   to kill Jarasandha,

The elder brother of BHima carried out  Raja soya  in pretty  manner

Sri Krishna  very happily  agreed to receive  , worship of top one

Later  Sisupala   was killed

 

86.Salyane  vadhichu  Baktha pandavarkku  Raksha  cheithu

Sangramathil  Dharma puthrar vijayam chhoodi

Soothane  vadhichu Raman, balwalane  konnu  Raman

Utharkku rakshayeki uthaman  Krishnan

 

By killing  SAlya  he saved  Pandavas  who were  devotees
In the war  Dharma  puthra   got   the victory

Bala Rama killed  Sootha,. Balaama   killed  Balwala

The  great Krishna  provided protection to Uthara

 

87,Naalu pidi avalumai narayanannu  aduthu yethi

Narothaman kuchelanum oru  dhinathil

Nalla poale  pooja cheithu kuchelane  BHagawanum

Nallorillam  Bakthikoppam  nalki  bhagawan

 

With four fists of beaten rice the very good man

Kuchelam   came  near  Bhagawan, one day
BHagawan did worship  of him  very well

In tune with his devotion Bhagawan gave him suitable house

 

88.Makkal marichoru  vipran manam nonthu karanjappol

Maha villaliyaam parthan prathijna cheithu

Puthra raksha nadannilla, partha  rakshakku yethi Kannan

Pathu puthranmaareyum  viprrannu yeki Kannan

 

When a Brahmin whose children dies  cried  with  a pained mind

The great  archer Arjuna  took an oath

But the saving of children   did not take place, Krishna reached for protection of Arjuna
Krishna gave his  ten sons  back  to the  Brahmin

 

89,Vrukan  yenna asurannu Mahadevan varam nalki

Vatuvai  Bhagavanethi  avane  konnu

Moonnu moorthikalil  sathya gunam  aarkennarivaan

Muniyethi, vishnuvennnu   arinjuvallo

 

Lord Shiva   gave a boon to an Asura  called  Vruka

Bhagawan came  as a boy  and killed him

One sage reached  to find out  which of three gods,

Has Sattva Guna and he knew it is for  Vishnu

 

90Vishnuvinde  mahathwathe  sthapikkunnu  patteriyum

Vishnu thanne  sarveswaran  yennu ariyuka

Purana swaramayidum Bhagawatham  thannil minnum

Punya slokan  Guruvayurappan  Thaanallo

 

Bhatathiri also  establishes  the greatness  of Vishnu

Please know  that  Vishnu is the  god of every one

He who shines in Bhagawatham  which  is a purana  voice

Is the  one with great reputation  and is Guruvayurappan only

 

91.BHakthiyude  mahathwathe bangiyayi  paadeedunnu

Bhayamillathaakkum Krishna  pada  Bhakthiyum

BHagawanil  Bhathiyundel Maayayeyum  Jayicheedaam

Bakthothaman  Melpathooru  paadeedunnallo

 

He sings nicely about  the greatness of devotion

The devotion  to feet of Krishna will make  one fearless

If you have  devotion to God , you  can even win over illusion

Has not   the great  devotee  melpathur  sang about it

 

92.Karmam eesa bahakthiyum paadedunnu savisthaaram

Uthamamaam  pooja cheithaal prasadam nedaam

Kali kalam  punyam thanne, nama  japam onninaale

Kalmashathil  theernnidunnu  , bakthiyurakkum

He sings in detail  about our  duties  and devotion to God

If we do worship in a  a proper way, we will  get result of worship

The kali age  is holy no doubt, due to  chanting name of God

Defects get   exhausted   and devotion becomes firm

 

93.Suryan thottu  pala vidha  guru nadhanmaar  undallo

Soochippichu  BHattathiri dasaka mithil

Dehavum oru guru thaan  , virakthiye  nalkidunnu

Deha saukhyam  nalkidene prarthichidunnu

 

Beginning  from Surya  there are  many great Gurus

And Bhattathiri in his  dasakam pointed  out

That  body also is a Guru and it grants indifference to worldly  objects

And he prays for grant  of the  heath  of the body

 

94.Gopikal than nihkamamaam bakthi yemikku yekidene

Govinda  dhamathe  thedum  Brahmavu poalum

Bhagavande avathara kadhakale  varnikkatha

Vakkukale orikkalum namikkilla jnaan

 

Please grant me  the desireless  devotion of the Gopis

Even Brahma  it seems  searches  for  residence  of Govinda

I will not salute the words  which do not  describe

The  stories  of incarnation  of God

 

95.Dhyana margam seelikkum jnan , vayuvine  vijayikkum

Dhyanam kondu  ninne jnanum manassilaakkum

Ashta sidhikalum venda, ishta  varangalum venda

Ashta  bhujanaaya  ninne dhyanichaal mathi

 

I would learn path of meditation, I will win over  wind god

Only through meditation , I will also  understand you

I do not need eight occult powers, I do not  want the boons that  I like

It is sufficient for me to meditate  on Bhagawan  with   eight hands

 

96.Bhagawande vibhuthikal  varnikkunnu  bhangiyayi

Bhagwane ariyuvaan, bakthiyunaraan

Chila idangalil yellam   Bhagawanai kandu kandu

Lokam onnai BHagawanaai  Kaanaan kazhiyum

 

The greatness  of Bhagawan is being described prettily

To know  Bhagwan and for   understanding devotion

In some places  after seeing  and seeing  Bhagwan

We will be   able  to see  entire world  as one

 

97.BHakthiyayi  prathikkunnu, melppathoorum .Markandeya

Bakthiyude kadha paadi Bakthi vardhikkan

Ajarathvam, amarathvam yennee  varangale nalki,

Agni nethran muniyeyum anugrahichu

 

Melpathoor also prays   with devotion,  sang  the story

Of Markandeyas   devotion, so that  devotion will increase

He who was given boons of no decay   and no death

And lord Shiva with eyes  of fire  blessed  that sage

 

98.Bhagwande apadhanam, paadi paadi melpathoorum

Bhagawande padhangalil  namaskarippo

Bhagwath   kaarunyamundel, maayayeyum  keezhadakkam

Nishkala Brahma   roopam  vijayikkette

 

Melpathoor  also sang and sang  about  cause to arrive  of Bhagwan

WE will  salute   at the  feet  of Bhagwan

If we get  mercy  of Bhagawan, we will even   control illusion

Let the undivided form of  God win

 

99,Veda saramayittulla Vaakkukalal Viprothaman

Veda  swaroopane bangya   sthuthichidunnu

Vedanakal  illathaayi, veda  sathyam niravayi

Veda moorthi   bhagwane  arinju  vipran

 

The great Brahmin using words  of summary  of Vedas

Is prettily  praying   God whose  form is Vedas

Pains vanished, the truth  of veda  was completed

And Brahmin understood  Bhagawan who is personification of Vedas

 

100.Karunya  sreelakam   thannil minnidunna Bhagawande

Kesadhi padhathe Bakthyaa  varnichidunnu

Rendaayaalum srihareeya maayori yen vari paadum

Bakthannu  nalkanam  AAyur  aaroghya  saukhyam

 

He   prettily  describes  with devotiom , head to feet

Of Bhagwan who shines  in the divine  wealth of mercy

Whatever it is my songs full of properties  of Vishnu  would be sung

And devotees   should be given  lifespan , health and pleasant life
