(Venkata Natha or Vedantha Desika is one of the greatest
savants that Visishitadvaitha produced ,after Ramanuja. He lived about 140
years after Saint Ramanuja and has written several books. The prayers he wrote
are immensely popular among the devotees of Vishnu. Raghavabhyudhyam, one of
his greatest works has a commentary written by Appayya Deekshitha who was a
savant following Advaitha .Though there were several great teachers in the
Visishtadvaitha devotees, Desika(Meaning teacher) is only used for denoting
Vedantha Desika.
These Ashtotharam
can be used to Worship Srimad Vedantha Desika, wherever he has been consecrated or sung
in praise of him, I read the
ashtotharam and detailed commentary in
Sanskrit as well as English in a book
called” Sri Nigamandha Desika
Namoshtothara satham “ published by ‘srmad
aandavan Sri Poundarikapuram Swamy Ashramam, Sri ranagam” I could not have
followed most of the names except with the help of the book, My

samasnuthe
Those who learn this with devotion from the lotus like face of his Guru,
By the blessing of
Lord Desika, would enjoy pleasures on earth and heaven
2,Yekaikam api thannama
keerthayan sakruduthamam,
Sarvaan kamaanvapnothi kimuthashtotharam satham
If at least one name or the names at least once if one sings,
Of these 108 names are sung, all his desires
would get fulfilled
