Kanyā Pūjā or Kumārī Pūjā, is a Hindu holy ritual, carried out especially on the Ashtami(eighth day) and Navami (ninth day) of the Navaratri festival. The ceremony primarily involves the worship of nine girls, representing the nine forms of Goddess Durga (Navadurga). As per Hindu philosophy, these girls are considered the manifestation of the natural force of creation. Legend says that it was on the ninth day of Navaratri that Shakti had taken the form of Goddess Durga, on the request of the devas to kill the demon Mahisasura.

When we worship the nine kanyas (young girls) on the last night of Nav Raatri, we worship them with love and consideration as if we are worshipping the representations of Devi. The kanyas usually range from two to ten years old; the youngest girl is called Kumari, followed by Trimurti, Kalyani, Rohini, Kalika, Chandika, Shambhavi, Durga and Subhadra. These forms of Devi represent the powers and functions of the Devi for spiritual advancement in our lives.

 

The worship of Kumari leads to the extinction of all miseries and poverty.

Worshipping Trimurti blesses us with longevity, the acquisition of power and the six forms of spiritual wealth: serenity, tranquility of mind, control of senses, endurance, faith and renunciation of all selfish acts.

Worship of Kalyaani leads to victory over all negativities, happiness and the realization of all noble desires.

Rohini is the curer of all diseases, and the destroyer of all internal enemies: anger, greed, lust, hatred, jealousy and ego.

Worship of Kaalika Devi leads to prosperity.

Chandika Devi blesses us with strong devotion to the Divine Mother.

Shambhavi Devi frees us from poverty, misery and victory over all negativities.

Durga Maa represents the inaccessible. She destroys awful and terrible enemies and bestows happiness in this world and the world beyond.

Subhadra fulfills all our right desires.

If we worship these kumaris with great devotion, all negativities are eliminated from our lives and we are blessed with auspiciousness. Let us prepare ourselves spiritually during the period of Nav Raatri to worship the Divine Mother so that our lives, our families and our country will receive Her divine blessings.

Trimoorthi

She who has three types   of form of wisdom

She  who is saluted  by allthre worlds,

Kalyani

Kalathmikaa, Kalatheethaam

Karunya  hrudayaam Shivaam

Kalyana  janani , nithyaam

Kalyanim pojayamyaham

 

She whose soul is arts, She who is great  expert of arts

She who has  merciful mind , Who is wife of Shivaa

She who is mother  of auspiciousness  daily

And I am worshipping  Kalyani

 

Rohini

 

Animaadhi  gunaadhara

Makaradhyaksharathmkaam

Anantha sakthi  bedadhaam

Rohinim  poojayaamyaham

 

She whi has occult powers like Anima

She  who is the  soul of the letter  Ma

She wh mcan split  endless  power

And I am worshipping Rohini

 

Kalika

 

Kamachaareem  shubhaam  Kanthaam

Kala chakra swaroopinim

Kamadhaam Karunaadharaam

Kalikaam pojayamyaham

 

She walks  as she pleases,She who is the good wife

She who has form of wheel of time

She who islovable  , She who has mercy

Chanda veeraam , Chanda Mayaam

Chanda  munda  prabhanjanim

She who is angry  hero, wyo is angry illusion

She  who killed  CHanda  and Munda

She who when worshipped becomes every goddess

Durga

Durgame  , Dusthare Kaarye

BHava  Dukha  vinaasinem

She who is difficult to understana, She who is insurmountable action

She who destroys  the sorrow created by fate

I worship her  with devotion

Sundareem swarna  varnaabhaam

Sukha  saubhagya  dhayineem

Subadhra  janani, devim

Subadraam poojyamyaham

 

She who is pretty , who is  of the colour  of Gold

She  who grants  pleasure and  good luck

She who is safe  mother goddess
