(Bhagwan Ramana was great saint who lived among us till 1950.I
think that just to call him a saint is not at all sufficient.He was a
God who came to light up this world and enthuse the world to
know about the great philosophy of thoughts of Hinduism .He
was born as Sri Venkatraman in a small village called
Thiruchuzhi in the year 1879 .At the age of sixteen he left
Madurai , where he was studying school and reached
Thiruvannamalai mountain.There are no records of any Guru for him nor is there
any mention that he took Sanyasa. He spent his time in absoulute
lonliness for several years before he was recognized as a
great spiritual master. Millions of people all over the world were attracted to
the teachings of this simple man who never accepted personal gifts and
never treated a person in a differential manner.. This
Ashtottara has been written by one of his scholarly disciples ,It was
translated by Prof.K.Swaminathan in to English and published by
Ramanashram in the year1984. Since the orinal text was not available on
line , I had translated it in my own words and posted it here . A devotee
using it should chant a name , then offer a flower to the
image of Bhagwan Ramana. I am sure that man God would bring your
mind to peace and rest and clarify all the doubts that
arise in your mind for it is believed” The flame is still there as it was. The
paradox is that the flame feeds the candle and not the candle the flame.”
