Karuppan (Black God)  is one of the very popular   village   Gods  of Tamil Nadu.Almost all  villages  in Tamil Nadu   have a Karuppantemple(statue)  guarding  them, There    several   stories about his   origin.

1,The  story how Sita left   her son Lava   fir looking after  with sage Valmiki   and how   when he found the bou missing sage Valmiki  created a boy out of Durba called Kucha  is famous, It seems when  after  they met Lord Rama , he again wanted Sita   to  prove her virtue  in fire  , it seems she jumped  in fire and nothing happened to her. She then asked  Lava  and Kucha   ro alsp jump in fire  .While nothing happened to Lava, Kuch a being born out of dried grass  burnt and became  black in Colour  .Lord Rama  it seems saved him and from then on , due   to his colour  was called  Karuppan.

2.There  is a story that Karuppan  is the   child born to Lord  Veerabhadra and  Chandi

3. There isanother   story that  tewo people   Karuppan and Karuppachami were  beheaded  and buried   and from the place  Karuppan chami grew up

4.It seems   when Dharma Sastha  went to fight with  Mahishi, Lord Shiva thinking Ayyappa was  only a child sent Karuppan to head an army   and go with him ,Later  this Karuppan became the  guard  of Lord Ayyappa   and  has a temple  near  the Pathinettam padi  ,All pilgrims pay their respects   to Karuppan  and then only climb the pathinettam padi

6.There is also a belief that  he originated   in Kerala

7.Some people believe   that he is the mixture  of four Gods  c vizKala  Bhairava  , Narasimha , Veera  Bhadra   and Rudra.

     His statue  is  either seen as sitting, standing and  riding  on a horse, He  is seen normally   wearing a  turban  , wearing a tucked  Kacham , has  fearsome rolling eyes, Huge moustache   and has  a scythe  in his hand. Normally   his pooja  is done by offering him cigar  , toddy  meat etc .His wife   was Karuppazhagi(black beauty)  ,  Son was kandan ,  his elder   brother   was Muthanna  Karuppa chami   , his   younger brother  was Ilaya  Karuppu    and younger  sister   was Rakkayi. Karuppa CHami   is also caller  Periya Aandar  (big God)

   But Pathittam Padi Karuppan the security   God of SAbarimalai   is offered raisins and is worshipped by  showing him lighted camphor.He is also called  Sithankattan(One who obeys orders)    and Peedapaha(Security to Peeda)   in SAbari malai

     Hos name   changes   depending   on where   his temple  is  for example  SAngili Karuppan  , Kula Karuppan, Malayala  Karuppan, Pathittam padi  Karuppan  , Nondi karuppan  , Ondi karuppan etc

எரிமேலி வந்து இறங்கிய கருப்பன் சுற்றும் முற்றும் பார்த்து எம்பெருமான் கருப்பனுக்கு மலர்கள் என்றால் கொள்ளை ப்ரியம் அவர் மலர்களால் சல்லடை கட்டி வருகின்ற வேளையில் அஹா அஹா காண கண்கோடி வேண்டும் அவை என்னென்ன மலர்கள் என்று கேட்டால்..

When Karuppan reached  Erumeli  he saw all  his surroundings   and as Our Lord Karupan greatly likes flowers, he ties   them as sieves   and to see   him in that form we need one crore   eyes, Let us see   what all  flowers  he wore

இப்படியாக தரிசித்து கொண்டு வந்த எம்பெருமான் கருப்பன் இந்த ஐயப்பன் மலர் பூஜை வருவதற்கு ஆவல் கொண்டு கண்ணிமாரையும் சாமி மாரையும் ஐயப்ப மாரையும் மாளிகைபுரத்தம்மனையும் ஆன்மீக நெஞ்சங்களையும் வாழ்த்தி அருள வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணம் கொண்டு இந்த ஐயப்பன் பூஜைக்கு கருப்பன் வருகிறான்

This great prayer  is addressed  to Lord Yoga Nrusimha  Swami  of Gadikachlam.  It  is supposed  to help you   in getting rid of fear , loan  and problems   created by enemies  that too  in 24  minutes

(Lord Narasimha of Gadikachala , which is in Sholavandan of Tamil Nadu. After the killing Hiranya Kasipu , Lord couldnt contain his anger and there are several stories as to how his anger was controlled. Later to make Prahalada happy, Yoga Narasimhar gave his seva for 1 Gadika(24 minutes )  in yogic pose. Because of this, the temple of Yoga Narasimha is also called as "Gadikachalam.". Goddess Lakshmi and Bhoodevi are with him./ Lord Anjaneya again in a yogic pose has a sepearate temple in an adjoining hill again in the yogic pose

This holy place (Divyadesam) has legendary association with Ramayana. When Lord Rama was preparing to end his avatara, he asked Anjaneyar (Hanuman) who was beside him, to reside at Sholingur and protect the seven rishis who were doing a penance. Hanuman slayed two demons who were trying to disrupt the sages. The sages (rishis) were praying to gain a glimpse of Lord Narasimhar, who appeared before them within a Katigai (24 minutes).Later it seems Lord Narasimha gave Shanka   and Chakra  to Lord Hanuman   and made him sit  in the adjoining hill   Also sage Vishwamtirar earned his title Brahmarishi upon praying at this site for a Katigai. The Lord also gave salvation to Prahlada in this location. The belief is that praying at the temple for a Katigai would relieve a human being from the cycle of rebirth )

Angaraka takes   45 days   to cross   a Rasi  . If your problem is of that much duration  and again comes    after about 500  days, your problem may be caused  by Chevvai,The dosha caused   by him  in a person’s horoscope cannot be   removed by  praying to him but  the  bad effects can be got reduced

By meditating on Angaraka  and praying you would get courage , self confidence, valour  , happiness  to brothers. Improvement in jobs related to fire, improvemne in jobs connected   with chemicals, cure of diseases of ear and nose and wounds from accidents. Yopu would also be able to attract every one and win over enemies

By  meditating on moon , your mind and brain would become active, good sleep, Improvement in business  involving liquids, Improvement in export business . Digestion and kidney would be affected  by moon .Moon remains in a Rasi   only for two and Quarter days..So if  you get in to problem only  for two or three days at a time  , moon could be the reason. Moon is weak during Krishna Paksha   and some people may get  problems during that  time also

(By praying to Sun God   we get good health  to our father ,health , power , position  , status ,generosity  and also get  rewards  from Gvernment. Such prayer also would cure  diseases   relating to blood flow, Eye   and nerves  on the Back bone.

It also    would weaken the  diminishing  of luster of all other planets  when they are   with sun God(Maudyam)

Since Sun Moves   from one Rasi   to another  after a month , the problems created by sun would only be short lived. )
