1.Vanthu  udhithaai Rama nee  , kosalan than  thirumaganai

Sinthu mozhi siru kaalai disayengum pularkirathu

Manthiangal vaai mozhinthu vanthanaikal  purinthu arula

Chen thirukkan arul pozhiya Vengadavaa  yezhunthu arulvai

 

Oh Rama you came  and rose up  as the divine son of Kosala

The early done with lisping toungue is  rising up in all  directions

For chanting the  manthras and do salutations

Please  wake up , oh Lord Venkatesa  with divine  red eyes

 

2.Yezhuntharulvai Ven garuda kodi udayai, yezhuntharulvai

Yezhuntharulvai thiru kamalai vizhai marbaa yezhuntharulvai

Yezhuntharulvai movulakum  kaatharula  yezhuntharulvai

Yezhuntharulvai govindaa vengadavaa  yezhuntharulvai

 

Please wake up lord with  flag  of white Garuda , please wake up

Please wake , oh lord whose chest  is liked  by  divine Lakshmi  , please wake up

Please wake   up to protect all  the three  worlds, please  wake up

Please wake up Oh Govinda, Oh lord Venkatesa, please  wake up

 

3,Por purinthu madhu  kaidabar  thamai   azhithaan  ula tholiye

Paar anaithum  kaathalikkum perazhakin  arul uruve

Paarakathaar vizhai thenthum seer seela perum thaaye

Kaar vanna  vengadathaan thiru thevi   yezhuthu   arulvai

 

Oh inner light of  him who waged war   and destroyed  Madhu and Kaidaba

Oh form of grace of the great  beauty of  her who protects  all the world

Oh great mother of great character who is desired all the world

Oh divine queen of lord venkatesa  of black colour, please  wake up

 

4.Thingal mozhi thiru mugathil pongum arul  puripaale

Inthu kalai  vaaniyudan, indraani  ambikayaam

Mangayarkal  thozhuthethum maanpudai  thani  thalaivi

Senkamala vengadathan thiru thevi yezhuntharulvai

 

She who showers ebbing grace on him  in whose divine face  moon light falls

Oh great leader who is saluted   and worshipped  by the moon, goddess saraswathi

Indrani  as well  as   goddess  Ambika,

Oh divine  wife  of lord venkadesa   of the red lotus, please  wake up

 

5.tHolaividathum pala vidathum chuzhandru  thiri  yezhu  munivar

Salithariyaa thavam  iyathi, sandhya  vandhanam  mudithu

Nilai peru  nin pugazh cholli, nin paadham sevithu

Malai adainthu kaathanar kaan, vengadava  yezhuntharulvai

 

The seven sages who wander  far off as well as in many places

Did  penance  which they were b not bored, completed  Sandhya Vandanam

Told your fame which forever  exists, served  your feet

Reached the mountain and are waiting, please  see, Oh Venkatesa  wake up

 

6.Aangantha Brahmavum, arumukhanum, devarkalum

Ongi ulagalantha uyar kadhaikal  paadukindraar

EEngintha vyazha muni panchangam  othukindraar

Theenkavikal  chevi madukka  , vengadavaa  yezhuntharulvai

 

There  , lord Brahma  , The shanmukha with six faces  and devas

Are singing your star  of growing   tall  and measuring the world

And here  the sage Brahaspathi is  reading the Almanac

For hearing these  sweet poems , Oh Lord Vengadesa  please wake up

 

7.Nan kamuku  thennaikalil  paalai  manam migunthanavaal

Pala  vanna  mottukkal  thaam  panithenodu alarnthabnavaal

Pullarikkum   melleera ponthendral thavazhkirathaal

Yellamum   anintharula vEngadavaa  Yezhuntharulvai

 

Due to the  perume of sheath   incrasing in good betelnut and coconut

And very many multi coloured buds are sitting with humility  and honey

And due to that  the flowery wet southern breeze is  wafting  creating sentiments

For wearing all those  of Lord Vengadesa  please  wake up

 

8,Nin thirupper pala kettu ninnadiyaar  mei marakka

Nin koil painkilikal theenkaniyaam amuthu arunthi

Nin thirupper aayirathaal   nedum pugazhai  vilakkiduvai

Nin cheviyaal   kettarula  Vengadavaa  Yezhuntharulvai

 

When your devotees   forget themselves   hearing  many of your ivine names

When the pretty birds of your temple, eat nectar like   sweet fruits

Please explain  your long fame   using your thousand names

And to hear  them by your ears, Oh  Vengadesa  please wake up

 

9.Yevidathum   nilayaaka nindru   ariyaa naradarum

Ivvidathi Um  perumaikal thaam eerpathanaal  nilai  kondaar

Chevviya  than veenayil un thiru charithai   meetukindraar

Avvisayai  kettarula   Vengadavaa    Yezhuntharulvai

 

The narada   who has never known to stand in a place

Due to greatness  here attracts him, stood here

And he is strumming your divine story  due to his  great Veena

And to hear  that music , Oh Lord Venkadesa  please  wake up

 

10,Ven kamala one malarkal vilaintha  madhu  miga  arunthi

Kan mayangi malar mugattul, kaalai varai  chirai kidantha

Vandinangal reengarithe vanthanavaa  ninnai  thozhave

ThaNNarulaal sevai thara Vengadavaa  Yezhuntharulvai

 

After   drinking lots of honey produced by pretty white lotus flowers

The bees  slept in the top of the flowers and were  imprisoned

And did them come   strumming to salute   you?

And for  giving them your service by your grace , Oh Lord Vengadesa please  wake up

 

11THanathanangal  nimirntha, cheyar  kai  valaikal  oli yezhuppa

Mana magizhnthu thayilr kadayum matholiyum, disai  oliyum

Chiranthana poal yethir olikka nedum   thuthikalmuzhangidumaal

Ninai  thuvithaam   keeteelayo , Vengadavaa  yezhuntharulvai

 

With her  breasts  erect, with bangles  of working hand rising sound

With sound of churner , when curd is churned with happy mind,

And all these  sounds becoming great producing echo along  with long prayers booming

Did you not hear  how we  thought about all these , Oh Lord Venkadesa please wake up

 

12.Perumal nin thiru nirathai  pethrullathai  kuvalai  chollum

Karum kuvalai  kaattidaye kalithu  ulavum  vandukal  thaam

Perumal nin thiru nirathai pethrulam yaam perithenume

Varu tharum  perum pagai thavirkka, Vengadavaa  yezhuntharulvai     

 

The water  lily frower will say that  Lord Vishnu  has got your colour,

And the bees  which swarm among the  black lily   forest,

Would say that  lord Vishnu  has got their colour and that  they are great

And to avoid great  enmity   which may come, OH Lord Vengadesa  please wake up

 

13.Vendubavar venduvana vizhaintharulum  peru  Vardhaa\

Maanbu udayaal, malar amarnthaal, magizhnthu  urayum   thirumarba

Yeendu ulakam anaithinodum iyainthamaintha uravula poi

Kaandariya karunayane, vengadavaa  yezhunthu arulvai

 

Oh big Varada who gives  with joy  all that people want

Who has divine chest  where   she who sits on flower and who has greatness sits with joy

With relation  which  shows unifying affection  to all things in the world

Which is difficult to see, oh merciful one , Oh Lord Vengadesa  please wake up

 

14.Min thavazhum chadayaanum , brahmavum , sananthanarum

Indru unathu koleri thiru theertham   thalai  muzhuki

Nin arulai  pera vizhainthe nedu vaayil  nilai  nindraar

Nindravarkkum   arul  pozhiya, Vengadavaa   yezhuntharulvai

 

Shiva with shining hair, Lord Brahma   and Sanathana

Today   got in to your home and took bathin your divine water

For getting your grace and are standing in the long  entrance

For showering your grace on even those who are standing, Oh Lord Vengadesa  please wake up

 

15,.Thiru malayai , seshathai, garudathai vengadathai

Thiru Narayana  malayai vridapathai irudathai

Perumale  yena pugazhnthu devarkal  yellam  thirandaakal kaan

Thirundularai purantharula Vengadavaa yezhuntharulvai

 

Saying the holy mountains are Sesha giri  , Garuda giri , Vengada giri

Narayana giri, Vrishabha giri, veda giri  and Ananda  Giri

The devas  assembled oh Lord Vishnu  , praising you

And for blessing   those qho have assembled, Oh Lord  Vengadesa , pleae wake up

 

16.Arulidu nin cheyal mudippan atta dikku  balakarkalaam

Pery niraya aran, indiran, agniyaan periyaman

Varunanodu  , nairuthiyaan , vayuvodu , khuberanum nin

Thiruvadikku kaathu;araal, Vengadavaa  yezhuntu arulvai

 

The  ashta dik palakas   who  would complete   your order

Are the noble  eesana, indra , fire , the big yama

Varuna, nairuthi wind and khubera and since

They are   waiting for your divine grace  , Oh Lord Venkadesa  please wake up

 

17.Thirumalai vaazh perumaane, thiru ulavulkku   yezhukayil nin

Garuda nadai, simma nadai, naaga nadai  muthalaaya

Thiru nadaikal chirappu unarnthu , thirathamura  karppatharkku

Garuda , simma naagarulaar, Vengadavaa  yezhuntharulvai

 

Oh Lord who lives on divine mountain, for  the divine procession,

The eagle walk  , lion walk and   the serpent walk are  there,

And realizing the greatness of divine walks, to learn it properly

Eagle, lion  and serpent are there , Oh Lord Vengadesa  please wake  up

 

18.Suriyanaar , chandiranaar, sevvayaam  budhan,, vyaazhan

Seerr miguntha sukkiranaar, sani, rahu  , kethu  ivarkal

AArvamudan nin thondarkku adi thondu purinthu , unathu

Peraraulai pera nindraar, vengadavaa   yezhunthrulvai

 

The sun, moon, mars, mercury, Jupiter

The very  famous venus , Saturn , raju   and kethu

Are doing service to the feet  of your devotes and are waiting,

To receive  your  very  great grace, Oh Lord Vengadesa, please wake up

 

19.Nin mukthi vizhataamal ninnai pondre, miga  vizhainthu

Nin padha  dhoolikalai than thalayil thaan darithom

Chendriduvai  kali mudinthaal  ingirunthum  parama padham

Yenparkke  anjinaar kaan Vengadavaa  yezhuntharulvaai

 

Without thinking of your salvation , I though just like you

And we  placed the dust  of your feet on our head

You will go to god’s place  from here   when kali age is over

And to tell this they were scared, Oh lord Vengadesa  please wake up

 

20.Yenniya thavam iyathiya in sorghum mukthi perum

Punniyarkal  chel vazhi nin pugazh koyil  kalasangal

Kandanare nin koyil kaakshikke pirappeduppar

Punniyane avarkkarula vengadavaa yezhuntharulvai

 

When you  do the desired penance you will get  salvation   and sweet heaven

And the domes of your spires of your famous temples is on the way of people of blessed deeds

And  of holy one  , just to bless  them, oh lord Vengadesa  please wake up

 

21Man magalin thiru kelvaa, maakarunai  guna kadale

Thin bhuyathu garadunudan naaganume saran  puganthaar

Yenniya devarkalil eedu inayil   perum deva

Man ulakor  thani  puyale, vengadavaa  yezhuntharulvai

 

Oh holy husband of  daughter of earth, oh ocean of very great  mercy

Along with the stong armed  Garuda, the serpent also entered your protection

Oh great god who is without comparison among Gods    we think

Oh  separate cyclone of  the earth, Oh Lord Vengadesa please wake up

 

22,Padmanabha , purdothama, vasudeva  , Vaikunda

Sathiyane, maathavane, janardhanane Chakra pani

Vathsalane paarijatha perumalar  poal arulbavane

Uthamane nithiyane Vengadavaa yezhuntharulvai

 

Oh Lord Padmanadha , Oh purushothhama , Oh Vasudeva , Oh Vaikunda

Oh  lord of truth, Oh Madhava , Oh Janardhana, oh Chakra oani

Oh dear one  who showers his grace like   the big parijatha  flower

Oh   great one  who is forever, Oh Lord Vengadesa  please wake up

 

23,Thirumagal than thiru anaippil thiru thuyil kol thiru azhakaa

Thiruvizhiyaal peru ulagil arul puriyum   peru varadhaa

Thiru udayai thee kunatathi, thiru thooyai, thiru pugazhai

Peru vayira thiru mudiyai, vengadavaa  yezhuntharulvai

 

Oh  divine handsome one who takes divine sleep in divine  embrace of Goddess  Lakshmi

Oh great  Varadaraja who goes   great good to the world by his divine eye

Oh lord with Lakshmi, who corrects  those with evil conduct, and has  great fame

Oh lord who has divine hair like  big diamond  , Oh lord Vengadesa , please wake up

 

24.Machanadhaa , koorma naadha, varaaha naadhaa, Narasimhaa

Nachi  vantha vamanane, parasurama, Raghurama

Mechu pugazh  Bala rama, thiru kannaa, kalkiyane

Ichkathu vaikundhaa, vengadavaa  yezhuntharulvai

 

Oh lord fish  , oh Lord turtle , oh lord boar, oh Lord man-lion

Oh Vamana who came to get alms, Oh Parsurama , Oh Raghurama

Oh Balarama with appreciated fame , Oh divine  Krishna , Oh Kalki

Oh Vaikunda  of this earth  , oh lord Vengadesa  , please  wake up

 

25. Yela mudhu  nadu lavanga Ghana saara  manam kamazhum

Seela mighu deiveeka thiru theertham  thalai sumanthu

Jnalam uyya veda  mozhi nathunarntha vedhiyakal

Kola mighu koyil  uththaar , vengadavai  yezhunthu arulvai

 

Well ripened cardamom , middle ripened clove, the divine sacred  waters,

Which smell of Ghana sara and the  learned  Brahmins who have mastered  vedic language,

Coming carrying that  waters in their head so that  world will  improve

And Oh Vengadesa  who has got   well decorated temple, please wake up

 

26. Arunanum vanthu udhithaan alanthana val  thamaraikal

Peru viyappal pullinangal peyarthezhunthu  chilambina kaan

Thiru marbaa vainavarkal mangalangal nira  mozhinthaar

Arul  thiruve arul virunthe, vengadava  yezhuntharulvai

 

The sun came   and rose up and the lotus flowers  did open

And the birds with great surprise  came   and raised  sound

Oh God  with  Lakshmi on chest, the vaishavas  chanted  several “mangalas”

Oh god with grace , of feast  of grace oh lord Venkadesa  please wake up

 

27.Naamagal  than nayaganum, devargalum  mangalamaam

Kamariyai kannadi thamaraikal chamarangal

Poo maruthu pon vilakku pugazh  kodikal  yenthinar  kaan

They maruvu malar marbaa, vengadavaa  yezhunthu arulvai

 

The husband  of goddess of toungueand devas  are auspicious

The lotus made of glass are  the  fans  which are enemy of love

The  golden lamp of maruthu flowers held the flags of fame

Oh lord with chest like sweet  marudhu flowers, Oh venkadesa please wake up

 

28.THirumarbaa perum gunangal chiranthonga polipavane

Perum piravi karum kadalin karai  punarkkum  cherkkum inaye

Oru vedathu utporule , ayarvu ariya mathi nalathaar

Thirum theerppukku uriyavane , Vengadavaa  yezhuntharulvai

 

Oh god with divine chest, he who shines with great characters shine greatly

Oh joiner, who makes  us reach the shore of the great ocean of birth

Oh Lord who  is inner meaning of one veda, Oh lord   who submits,

To the decision of those who have rare tireless  brain,  Oh Venkadesa   wake up

 

29.Vizhithu  yezhuntha kaalayil , yi thirupalliyezhuchi thanai

Vizhainthu unarnthu padippavarai, ketpavarai , ninaippavarai

Vazhuthukindraar yevar avarku, varangalodu mukthi thara

Yezhuntharulvai, Yezhuntharulvai, vengadavaa Yezhuntharulvai

 

In the morning when one wakes up  , if one   reads  and understands

Reads , hears  and thinks   about this  “song of waking up”

Or   who understand it, for them, to grant  salvation along with boons

Wake up, wake up  , Oh Lord Vengadesa   wake up.
