Armour of Goddess Kalikambal

(This great prayer  is addressed to  Goddess Kalikambal  of Chennai. The Kālikāmbal Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shri Kāligāmbāl  and Lord Kamadeswarar, located in Parry’s corner  in Chennai . The temple is located in Thambu Chetty Street, a prominent financial street running parallel to Rajaji Salai .The temple was originally located closer to the sea shore and was relocated to the current site at 1640 AD. It was then built in 1678. Shivaji, the Maratha warrior and the founder of the Hindawi-Swarajya in the 17th century, had worshiped in this temple incognito on 3 October 1667. It is believed that a fierce form of Goddess  was held in worship earlier and that this form was replaced with the shanta swaroopa (calm posture) form of Goddess Kamakshi.)

முழு முதற் கடவுளே மூஷிக வாகனனே
முக்கண்ணன் புதல்வனே மோதகப்ரியனே
பார்வதி மைந்தனே பாலனின் சோதரனே
பார்புகழ் நாயகனே பாடினேன் உனையே

Muzhu  Mudhar  Kadavule  Mooshika  Vahanane

Mukkannan  pudhalvane, Modhaka priyane

Parvathi  mainthane, Balanin sahodharane

Paar pugazh  naayagane  Paadinen Unnaye

Oh first full god, he who has  mouse  as steed,

Son of  the three eyed god, He who likes  Modhaka

Son of Parvathi, elder brother  of subrahmanya

The leader who is praised by all the world, I sang   about you

காட்டின் இருளிலும் கனிவுடன் துணைவரும்
காளிகாம்பாள் கவசம் பாடவே முனைந்தேன்
கருத்தும் பொருளும் தெளிவுடன் அமைந்திட
காத்தருள்வாயே கற்பக கணபதியே

Kaalikaambaal kavacham  Paadave  munainthen

Karuthum  porulum  thelivudan amainthida

Kaatharuvaaye Karpaga Ganapathiye

I have  started  to sing the armour  of Kalikambal

Who with mercy  accompanies us even in the dark  of the forest

For clarity to be maintained in  import and meaning,

Oh  Karpaga  Ganapathi  please  protect us

அருள்மிகு அம்பிகையின் அருள்பாதம் பணிந்தேன்
ஆனந்த ஜோதியே ஆதரிப்பாய் எமையே
இகபர சௌபாக்கியம் அளித்ததிடும் தேவியே

ஈரேழுலகமும் காத்திடும் அன்னையே

Arul migu  ambigayin  arul  paadham  paninthen

AAnanda  jothiye  aadharippai   yemaye

Iha para  saubhagyam   alithidum deviye,

Eerezhu  ulagamum  kaathidum annaye

I saluted the divine  feet of the  merciful mother

Oh flame of joy  , do support  us

Oh  Goddess  who grants great luck in this and other world

Oh Mother who protects all the fourteen worlds

உலகம் உய்யவே உலகில் உதித்தவளே
ஊழ்வினையைத்தீர்த்து உண்மையைக்காப்பவளே
எங்கும் நிறைந்தவளே ஏகாந்த நாயகியே
ஏற்ற மிகு வாழ்வளிக்கும் எழில்மிகு அம்பிகையே

Ulagam uyyave  ulagil  udhithavale

OOzh vinayai theerthu unmayai  kaappavale

Yengum nirainthavale, yekaantha  nayagiye

Yetha migu vaazhvalikkum , yezhil  migu  ambigaye

Oh Goddess who rose  in this world, for world to win,

Who  removes  fate and past karmas and protects  the truth

Who has pervaded every where, Oh  Goddess of solitude

Oh very pretty mother who grants  us  very great life

ஐந்தொழில் புரிந்திடும் ஐயனின் தேவியே
ஒன்றும் அறியாதவரை உயர்வடையச் செய்பவளே
ஓங்கார நாயகியே ஓம் சக்தித்தாயே
ஔடதமாய் நீ இருந்து அனைவரையும் காத்திடுவாய்

Iynthozhil purinthidum  ayyanin  deviye

Ondrum  ariyaathavarai uyarvadaya   cheipavale

Omkara  Nayakiye, Om sakthi thaaye

Oudathamai  nee irunthu anaivarayum  kaathiduvaai

Oh consort of Lord    who does five  types of duties

Who uplifts  a person  who does not know  anything,

Goddess  of  the letter OM Mother  Sakthi,

Please   stay as medicine   and protect   all of us.

அகிலாண்ட நாயகியே ஆதிபராசக்தியே
அல்லல்கள் போக்கிடும் அபிராமி அன்னையே
கண்கண்ட தெய்வமே கருணையின் வடிவமே
கலியுகம் காக்கவே காட்சியளிப்பவளே

AkhilandaNayayike, Aadhi paraa sakthiye

Allalkal  pokkidum  Abhirami   Annaye

Kan Kanda  devivame, karunayin  vadivame

Kaliyugam  kaakkave kakshiyalippavale

Oh lord of universe who is the primeval power,

Oh mother Abhirami who removes  problems,

Who is goddess  whom we can see, who is  form of mercy

Who shows herself to us  to protect the Kali age

காளிகாம்பாள் எனும் காமாட்சித்தாயே
கமடேஸ்வரருடன் காட்சி தருபவளே
பாரதிபாடிய பரமகல்யாணியே
வீரமிகு சிவாஜிக்கு வீரத்தைக் கொடுத்தவளே

Kamadeswaranudan kaakshi   tharupavale

Bharathi  paadiya  parama  Kalyaaniye

Veera migu shivajikku  veerathai  koduthavale

Oh Mother Kamakshi   who is known as  Kalikambal,

Who appears before as   along with lord Kamadeswara,

Oh divine goddess about whom Bharathi sang,

And who gave sword to valorous   Shivaji

வெற்றித்திருமகளே வேண்டியவரமருள்பவளே
பெற்ற அன்னையாய்ப் பேணிக்காப்பவளே
பன்னிரு தலங்களில் காமாட்சி எனும் நாமமுடன்
மின்னும் ஒளியாய்க்காட்சி தருபவளே

Vethri  thirumagale, vendiya  varam arulbavale

Pethra  annayaai peni  kaappavale

Panniru thalangalil, Kamakshi  yenum naamamudan,

Minnum  oliyai  Kakshi  tharubavale

Oh   divine  goddess of victory, who grants the boons that  we need,

Who nurtures  us like  our  own mother

Who appears as  glittering light, in 12 places,

With the name  of  Goddess  Kamakshi

சென்னைப்பதியில் சீருடன் அமர்ந்து
சென்னியம்மன் எனும் நாமமும் கொண்டவளே
எங்கும் நிறைந்திருந்து எமபயம்நீக்கிடுவாய்
எல்லையில்லா பேரின்பப் பெருவாழ்வு தந்திடுவாய்

Chennai pathiyil cheerudan   amarnthu

Chenniyamman  yenum  namamum kondavale

Yengum niranthirunthu yema  bhayam  neekkiduvai,

Yellayillaa perinba  peru vaazhvu  thanthiduvai

Luxuriously  sitting  in the city of Chennai,

You  also took the name  of Chenniyamman

Please pervade  everywhere  and remove fear of death

And give us the great life of limitless  joy

குங்குமத்தில் குடியிருந்து குடும்பத்தைக்காத்திடுவாய்
சங்காபிஷேகத்தில் மகிழ்ந்து சந்ததியைக்காத்திடுவாய்
சத்தியமாய் இருப்போர்க்கு சாட்சியாய் இருந்திடுவாய்
வித்தைகள் கற்போர்க்கு விளக்கம் தந்திடுவாய்

Kumkumathil  kudi yirunthu kudumbathai  kaathiduvai

Sankhabishekathil  magizhnthu, santhathiyai  kaathiduvai

Sathiyamaai  irupporkku  saakshiyaai  irunthiduvai

Vithaikal  karpporkku  vilakkam thanthiduvai

Living in the kukmum, please  protect our family,

Become happy  due to abhisheka  with conch, please protect our children

You be the witness  to those  who are  truthful,

You please  clear  the doubts  to those  who learn

கரும்பேந்திய கையினளே கண்ணினைக்காத்திடுவாய்
விரும்பியே வருவோர்க்கு வீரத்தை அளித்திடுவாய்
நின்பாதம் பணிவோர்க்கு நிம்மதியைக்கொடுத்திடுவாய்
பன்மலரால் பூஜிப்போர்க்கு பக்கபலமாய் இருந்திடுவாய்
மஞ்சளில் குடியிருந்து மாங்கல்யம் காத்திடுவாய்

Karumbenthiya kayyinale, kanninai  kaathiduvai

Virumbiye  varuvorkku, veerathai alithiduvai

Nin paadham panivorkku nimmathiyai koduthiduvaai

Pan malarial poojipoorkku pakka balamai irunthiduvai

Manjalil   kudiyirunthu maangalyam kaathiduvaai

Oh Goddess  holding sugarcane  , protect our  eyes,

For those who comes with willingness, please give valour

For those  who salute your feet, you grant peace,

To those  who worship you  with several flowers, you be the strength behind them,

Living  in the turmeric , you please give long life to the husband.

நெஞ்சில் நிறைந்திருந்து நெஞ்சத்தைக்காத்திடுவாய்
நம்பியே வருவோர்க்கு நல்லதே செய்திடுவாய்
தெம்பில்லாதவர்க்கு தெய்வபலம் அளித்திடுவாய்
வம்பு பேசுவோரையும் வரமளித்துக்காத்திடுவாய்
கும்பிடவருவோரின் குறைகளைக்களைந்திடுவாய்

Nenjinil  nirainthirunthu  , nenjathai  kaathiduvai

Nambiye  varuvorkku, nallathe  cheithiduvai

Thembillathavarkku , deiva balam  alithiduvai

Vambu  pesuvorayum , varamalithu  kaathiduvai

Kumbida varuvorin kurikalayum kalainthiduvai

Filling  up the heart , you protect  their chest

To those  who come  with belief, you only do good

To those  who are not energetic, you please give power of god

Even to those  who talk gossip, you will give boons

You also remove the wants of those who come  to salute you

பாமாலை சூட்டுவோர்க்கு பூமாலை சூட்டிடுவாய்
காமாலை நோயையும் கடிதே போக்கிடுவாய்
ஆடிவருவோர்க்கு ஆறுதல் தந்திடுவாய்
தேடி வருவோர்க்குத் தைரியத்தை அளித்திடுவாய்

Paamaalai  choootuvorkku  , poomalai   choottiduvai

Kamalai  noyayum kadithe  pokkiduvai

AAdi varuvorkku   aaruthal   thanthiduvai

Thedi varuvorkku   , dairiyathai alithiduvai

To those  who decorate you with garland of poems, you  would give them flower garland

With speed  you will cure  jaundice  disease

To those who come dancing , you give them consolation

To those who come in search of you, you  would  give them courage

வாடி வருவோரின் வ்றுமையைபோக்கிடுவாய்
நாடிவருவோர்க்கு நன்மையே புரிந்திடுவாய்
பாடி வருவோரின் பாரத்தை போக்கிடுவாய்
கூடிவருவோர்க்குக் குலவிலக்க்காயய்த்திகழ்ந்திடுவாய்

Vaadi varuvorin  varumayai pokkiduvai

Naadi varuvorkku  nanmaye  purinthiduvai

Paadi  varuvorin baraathai  pokkiduvai

Koodi varuvorkku  kula  vilakkai  thigazhnthiduvai

To those  who come suffering with poverty, you will remove  their poverty

TO those  who come in search of you, you do only good

To those  who come  singing  you will reduce  their burden

To those  who come together , you will  become  their lamp

காளிகாம்பாள் கவசம் ஒதுவோர்க்கேல்லாம்
கஷ்டங்கள் ஒழியுமே கவலைகள் தீருமே
அஷ்டமா சித்தியும் அடைந்திடச்செய்யுமே
நஷ்டம் என்பதே எதிலும் வாராமல்
இஷ்டமுடன் இனிமையாய் வாழ்ந்திடச்செய்யுமே

Kalikambaal kavacham  othuvorkellam,

Kashtangal  ozhiume, kavalaikal theerume

Ashtama  sidhiyum adainthida  cheyyume

Nashtam yenpathe yethilum  varaamal

Ishtamudan  inimayai  vaazhnthida   cheyyume

To all those who read this armour of Kalikambal,

Sufferings will end, worries   would not be there

They would  be able to get  the eight  occult powers

Avoiding  loss in everything, it would,

Help you  live  as per your desire  sweetly
