मधुरं मधुरेभ्योऽपि मङ्गलेभ्योपि मङ्गलम् ।

पावनं पावनेभ्योऽपि हरेर्नामैव केवलम् ॥ १॥

 

Madhuram  , madhurebhyopi , manglebhyopi  Mangalam,

Pavanam  pavenobhyopi harernamaiva  kevalam

 

Sweeter than sweetest, auspecious than  most  auspicious,

Holier   than holiest, only   the name  of Hari is everything

 

आब्रह्मस्तम्बपर्यन्तं सर्वं मायामयं जगत् ।

सत्यं सत्यं पुनः सत्यं हरेर्नामैव केवलम् ॥ २॥

 

Aabrahmasthamba  paryantham sarva  mayamayam  Jagath,

Sathyam , sathyam , puna sathyam Harenamaiva   kevalam

 

Right  from time of Lord Brahma  to present, the  entire universe  is illusion,

This the truth, truth , again truth ,  the name  of Hari  only is everything

 

स गुरुः स पिता चापि सा माता बान्धवोऽपि सः ।

शिक्षयेच्चेत्सदा स्मर्तुं हरेर्नामैव केवलम् ॥ ३॥

 

Sa Guru  Sa pithaa chaapi Saa mathaa Bandhavyopi sa

Sikshayecheth sadhaa smarthum   Harer namaiva Kevalam

 

The Guru  , The father  and the mother   and also  relatives,

Always   teach  you to remember  only  that   the name  of  Hari is everything.

 

निःश्र्वासे न हि विश्र्वासः कदा रुद्धो भविष्यति ।

कीर्तनीयमतो बाल्याद्धरेर्नामैव केवलम् ॥ ४॥

 

Niswase  na hi  viswasa kadhaa rudho  bhavishyathi

Keerthaneeyamatho Balyadhare harer namaiva kevalam

 

Till last breath comes , we do not have belief  when our end will  comes,

From the   time  that  you are  a child , sing only  that name of Hari is everything

 

हरिः सदा वसेत्तत्र यत्र भगवता जनाः ।

गायन्ति भक्तिभावेन हरेर्नामैव केवलम् ॥ ५॥

 

Hari sadhaa  vasethathra yathra  bhagawatha Janaa

Gayanthi Bhakthi  Bhavena Harer namaiva  Kevalam

 

Wherever  Godly people   live, Hari also  lives there

And they  sing with devotion , that  the   name of Hari  only is every thing.

 

अहो दुःखं महादुःखं दुःखद् दुःखतरं यतः ।

काचार्थं विस्मृतं रत्नं हरेर्नामैव केवलम् ॥ ६॥

 

Aho  Dukham  Maha  Dukham  dukhadha  Dukhatharam  Yadhaa

Kaachartha vismrutham Rathnam harer  namaiva   kevalam

 

Alas  it is sorrow, great sorrow   and possibly   greatest sorrow

Forgetting a jewel  of  the name of Hari  only people seek a glass,

 

 

दीयतां दीयतां कर्णो नीयतां नीयतां वचः ।

गीयतां गीयतां नित्यं हरेर्नामैव केवलम् ॥ ७॥

 

Dheeyathaam  dheeyathaam   karno neeyathaam   neeyathaam vacha

Geeyathaam   geeyathaam  nithyam   harer namaiva    kevalam

 

The ear must hear  and hear  that only , Words  should speak    and speak that only,

Sing and sing g daily sing    only  that  the  name  of Hari is everything

 

 

तृणीकृत्य जगत्सर्वं राजते सकलोपरि ।

चिदानन्दमयं शुद्धं हरेर्नामैव केवलम् ॥ ८॥

 

TRuni kruthya jagath sarva rajathe    sakalopari

Chidananda  mayam  Shudham  harer  namaiva  kevalam

 

Making   the entire universe as blade of grass, it rules over entire  universe,

It is full of divine joy and greatly pure  , the name  of  Hari only is  every thing

 

 

इति कैवल्याष्टकम् अथवा केवलाष्टकं सम्पूर्णम् ।

 

ithi  kaivalyashtakam  or kevalashtakam comes to an end

 

श्रीकृष्णार्पणमस्तु ।

Every thing is offered  to LOrd Krishna

 

इति नीलकण्ठगोस्वामी विरचितं केवलाष्टकं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
