Jyeshta Lakshmi

(Jyeshta is
the elder sister
of Goddess Lakshmi and is supposed
to be Harbinger of bad luck. She is called
“Moodevi” in Tamil Nadu) n
Trilochanaam ,
shukla danthim,
Bhibhratheem
kaanchanee thanum,
Virakthaam ,
raktha nayanaam,
Jyeshtaam
dhyayaami Sundareem.
I meditate on the pretty
Jyeshta,
Who has three
eyes, has white teeth,
Who has a
golden body,
Who is indifferent
and has blood red eyes
Om Yehi Yehithwam
(ehyehithwam) Maha Bhage surasura
namskruthe,
Jyeshtaa
thwam sarva devaanaam
math sameepam gathaa
bhavaa 1
Om Great Goddess come
near and come near, Oh great
Goddess saluted by Devas
and Asuras,
Oh Goddess
Jyeshtaa do not go near all
the devas and Gods
Swetha simhasana
sthathu swetha vasthrai
alankruthaa,
Varadam
Pusthakam paasa,
Bhibhrathyai namo nama.2
Sitting on a white throne , wearing white dress , you ,
Show the sign of
blessing and carries book and rope ,
Salutations and salutations to you
Jyeshte-Sreshte thapo nishte dharmishte sathya
vaadhini,
Samudhra
madhanothpanne jyeshtaayai the namo naa.3
Oh Jyeshta, oh great one who does great penance, observes
Dharma and tells the truth,
And she was born due to churning of ocean and my
salutations to Jyeshta
Surasura narair
vandhyaa yaksha kinnara
poojithaa,
Poojithaasi
mayaa devi jyeshtaa devi namosthuthe.

Oh goddess saluted by Devas, asuras and human beings, Who is worshipped by Yakshas
and kinnaras,
And she is
worshipped as Goddess Maata,
and I salute that Jyeshta devi.
Thwam Lakshmi
Thwam umaa devi , thwam jyeshtaa sarvadhaamarai,
Poojithaasi maya devi
praseedha varadhaa bhava. 5
You are Lakshmi, You are
Uma and Jyeshta the elder to all
devas,
And you are
worshipped as Maya devi , be pleased
and give us boons
Puthradhaara vivrudhyartham lakshmyaschaiva vivrudhaye ,
Alakshmyaamscha vinaasaayaa sarva
kalam bhajetha thaam 6
For increase of
wife and children, even goddess lakshmi worships her.
Please destroy
absence from prosperity and always I will
worship you
Ithi BHavishya puraane
sri Jyeshtaa devi sthuthi sampoornam.
Thus ends the prayer
addressed to Jyeshta devi occurring
in BHavishya purana
