Kanna neela kaar varna, Palikka,

Vasudevaa, paavangl

Jnangal inne , karunyam yekidene

 

Oh Darling of colour  of blue cloud, please look after

Oh Vasudeva, We are  poor people today

And please  grant us your mercy

 

Kottu kaarodu othu. Kaali meykkam

Kaindi  theerathu  ananja devaa

Kaliyan than meethe keri ninnu

Kaliya  mardhanam cheitha bala

 

Oh God who reached shores  of Yamuna

Along with   friends  to graze the cattle

And stood  on top of  Kaliya snake

And oh boy who danced  there and beat him

 

Poothanaye  kola cheitha balaa

Poothanaa moksham  nadathiyone

Mallane  poradi konna devaa

Mathula nigraham    cheitha  Balaa

 

Oh boy who killed  the Poothanaa

The one who granted salvation to poothana

Oh God who fought and killed the wrestler

Oh Boy who killed   his uncle

 

Amma yasodaye  vaa pilarnnu

Eerezhu lokavum  kaattiyone

Dukhangal aasu agathuvaanai

Ambadi  kanna  odi vaayo

 

By opening your mouth wide to Yasoda

Oh Lord who showed her  the fourteen worlds

For speedily   removing the sufferings
