Suryan  (Sun God)

 

 

Kasini  irulai neekkum ,,kadhir  oli aaki yengum,

Poosanai  ulagor  pothri ,Pusippodu sukathai nalgum,

Vaasi  yezhudaya   ther mel,Maha  giri valamai  vantha,

Desigaa  rakshippai, Sen kathiravane  Pothri

 

He  who  removes the darkness of the world,By spreading  lustrous  rays   every where,

Is worshipped  by the world , I salute him

Apart from food  he gives  pleasure,

Rides  on a chariot   drawn by seven horses,

And comes   round the   great mountain,

Oh  God protect me ,I salute  the red  sun

 

Chandra (moon God)

 

Alai kadal  athanil irunthu andru  vanthu udhitha pothu

Kalai  valar  thingalaaki , kadavular  yevarum yethhum

Silai nuthhal umayaal  pangan , chenchadai  pirayaaki , meru

Malai  valamai  vantha   Mathiyame  Pothri

 

When you rose  that   from inside  the ocean with  waves

You became  the moon with growing crescents,and the  Husband of Uma

Who has  a forehead which appears  carved made  you crescent on his red hair

And oh moon   who came round  the Meru  mountain , I salute

 

Chevvai  (Kuja-mars)

Vachana  nal  dairyathodu , mannavar   sabhayil varthai

Buja  Bala  parakramangal, por  thanil  aanmai

Nijamudan avar avarkku neel nilam  thanil  alikkum

Kuchan , Nila  makanaam chevvai kurai kazhal Pothri Pothri

 

Giving a talk in the kings court with  great courage described in books

Valour of  Hands  and strength , Male quality in  battle

He who gives for each in the  long land

Kuja  the mars son of earth, I salute  I salute  his ornaments  on his feet

 

Budhan (Mercury, Budha)

 

Madhana nool mudhalai  naanku  marai pukal  kalvi jnaam

Vidhamudan   avar avarkku  vinjaikal  arulvon  thingal

Suthan, pasu  paari  bagyam  sukham  pala  kodukka  vallan

Budhan  kavi pulavan Cheer  maal  Ponnadi pothri pothri

 

From the book  of passion to the  four  Vedas, the knowledge  of wisdom

He who gives knowledge   as per need in variety  of forms

The son of moon He who  can give  animal , land  , fortune and pleasure

Budha  , the poet  , I salute  the  great Gods  again and again

 

Guru(Brihaspathi-jupiter)

 

Marai migu kalai nool vallon , vanavarkku  arasan  , manthiri

Narai chori karpaka pon naattirkku  adhipanaaki

Nirai dhanam sivakai  mannil needu  boghatai  nalkum

Irayavan , Guru  , Vyazhan , iru malar padham  potri

 

An expert  in Vedas  and books  on great arts, king of devas, minister

After becoming king  to the golden kingdom where  nectar  rains

He who grants great  wealth , palanquimnand great enjoyment  on earth

He who is God, teacher  , Jupiter,I pray his two lotus like feet

 

Shukran(Venus)

 

Moorkkavaan , sooran  , vanan   mudhalinor guruvai  , vayyam

Kaakka  van mazhai  paivikkum  kavi makan, kanakam eevon

Deerga  vaanavarkal pothra, chethavar  thamai  yezhuppum

Bharghavan, Sukrachari , pada  pangayame  pothri

 

He  who destroys  fools  , he who is valorous, he  who was Guru to Vana and other people

The poet  who makes it rain to protect the earth, he who grants  gold

He who makes  dead people alive  and make  the devas  worship him

Bharghava, The teacher  Shukra, I pray  his  lotus like feet

 

SAni bhagawan(Saturn)

 

Munivarkal devarkal  , yezhu  moorthikal mudhaanorkal

Manitharkal  vaazhvum   undran  mahimai  athu  allal  undo?

Kanivula  deivam neeye, kadhir cheye  , kaakam yerum

Saniyane , unnai  thuthippen, thamiyanerkku   arul chivaaye

 

For   sages  ,devas  , seven gods and  others,humans

To  live  greatly , is there  any thing   except  your greatness

You are  the god with pity, son of Surya, Sani ,

Who rides  on crow, I will pray to you,Please bless  this slave

 

Rahu

 

Vaagu cher nedu maal  munnam  vanavarkku amudham eeya

Pogum  akkalai undhan  punarppinaal , chirame  atru

Bagu cher   mozhiyaal pangan paran  kayyaal  meendum  petra

Rahuve unai thuthippen, rakshippai rakshippaye

 

When lord Vishnu  who is on side  of god , earlier gave nectar to devas

And was going , by your  protess, you lost  your head

And got alive  by grace of Lord Shiva  who shared  half his body to Parvathi

Oh Rahu  , I will pray you , protect  and protect me

 

Kethu

Ponnai innudarathil kondon puthalvar  tham poruttaal, aazhi

Thannaye  kadainthu  Munnathan amuthu  alikkal uthra

Pinnai nin karavaal unda petpinil chiram  petru  uinthaai

Yennai aal  kethuve ivviru nilam  pothra thaane

 

For the sake of  the son of he who has  gold in his blood,

The  ocean itself was churnedand  first  the nectar  was shared

And later  due to the quarrel  due to your words, yu got your head  and lived

Oh Kethu  who rules me , he who is prayer by earth and heaven
