Mere Man ke Andha Thamas mein
(In the blind darkness of my mind )

(This is a famous Bhajan sung by Jagajit singh. It is addressed to the Goddess)


1.Mere Man Ke Andh Tamas Mein,
Jyotirmayi Utaro,

Oh Goddess who shines like a flame,
Please enter in to the blind darkness of my mind.

2.Kaha Yaha Devo Ka Nandan,
Malyachal Ka Abhinav Chandan,

Where has the darling baby of devas,
Who is the fresh sandal wood from the forest

3.Mere Rur Ke Udje Man Main,
Karunamayi Vicharo,

Oh mother drenched in mercy , come in to ,
My mind which is dry as well as arid.

4. Nahi Kahi Kuch Mujh Mein Sundar,
Kajal Sa Kala Yeh Antar,

There is nothing which is pretty in me ,
And my mind within is as black as colly

5. Parano Ke Gehre Gehwar Mein,
Mamtamayi Vicharo

Oh goddess who is full of care and concern,
Go deep inside in to my soul.

Durga Saptha sloki

Durga Saptha sloki
(seven verse prayer of Durga)

(The seven verses of this prayer has been taken from the book Devi Mahatmyam(Chandi). It is believed that reading these seven verses is equivalent to readinnd the full text of Devi Mahathmya. I thank Sri Akshay Dayal, who brought this great stotra to my notice)

Om asya Durga saptha sloki stotra manthrasya
Narayana rishi, nana chandamsi
Sri Mahakali , Mahalakshmi , Maha Saraswathyo devatha

For the chant of the seven versed prayer to Durga,
The sage is Narayana , Various types of meters
The goddess addressed is Maha Kali, Mahalakshmi and Maha Saraswathi.

1.Jnaneenam aapi chethamsi devi bhagawathi hi sa,
Baladakrushya mohaya mahamaya prayachadhi.

That famous lady Maha Maya (great enchantress) who is personification of all riches, draws the minds of even those who have special knowledge and make them behave with baser instinct of affection.
(When she can draw the instincts of those blessed with special knowledge, she can do it easily in case of people like you.)

2.Durge smrutha harasi bheethimasesha jantho,
Swasthai smruthaa mathi matheeva shubha dhadhasi,
Daridrya dukha bhaya harini ka twadhanya,
Sarvopa kara karanaya sadardra chitha.

You destroy sorrow of all beings who sorrow, you give great wisdom to those who are fearless and Oh Goddess who destroys the fear of poverty, who is there in this world except you who has a heart dripped in mercy.

3.Sarva mangala mangalye, Shive, sarvartha sadhake,
Saranye triambike Gowri narayani namosthuthe.

Oh Goddess who is a giver of all good things, who is peaceful, who is a giver of all wealth, who can be relied upon, who has three eyes and who is golden in colour, Our salutations to you, Narayani

4.Saranagatha deenaartha, parithrana parayane,
Sarvsyarthi hare devi, narayani namosthuthe.

Hey Goddess, who takes care of those who surrender to you and those who are suffering, Hey Goddess who removes all sufferings from the entire world, Our salutations to you, Narayani

5.Sarva swaroope sarveshe, sarva shakthi samanvithe,
Bhayebhya sthrahino devi, durga devi namosthuthe.

Oh goddess who takes all forms, who is the goddess of every thing and who is having all types of strengths, please save us from fears, Our salutations to you, Goddess Durga.

6.Roganseshanapahamsi thushta,
Rushta thu kaman sakalan abheeshtaan,
Twamasreethanaam na vipannaranam,
Twamasritha hyasrayatham prayanthi.

If you are happy you destroy all sort of problems and if you are angry you destroy all desirable happenings. For any one surrendering to you there are no dangers and they are only depended by others and not vice versa.

7.Deva ouchu:-
Sarva Badha prasamanam trilokyasya akhileswari,
Evameva thwaya karyamasmad vairi vinasanam.

The Devas told:-
Hey Goddess of the entire world, please keep on doing the destruction of our enemies, which would destroy the sorrow of all the three worlds.

(Prayer to Lord of the peacock)

(This prayer is meant for removal of worry as well as diseases.)

1.Puranapurusham devam Nana kreedakaram mudhaa,
Mayyavinam durvibhashyam, Mayuresam namamyaham.

I salute the Lord of the peacock , who is an epic person,
Who appears as if he plays in various ways , who is illusory and pleased by Durva grass.

2.Parathparam , chidanandam , nirvikaram , hrudhi sthidham,
Gunaatheetham , gunamayam Mayuresam namamyaham.

I salute the Lord of the peacock, who is the ultimate God , who is divinely happy,
Who is not affected by feelings , Who lives in our heart,
Who is beyond all characters , Who is full of all that is good.

3.Srujantham, palayantham cha samharantham nijechaya ,
Sarva vigna hara, devam mayuresam namamyaham.

I salute the Lord of peacock who creates , looks after and destroys according to his will,
And who destroys all sort of obstacles.

4.Nana daithya nihantharam , nana roopani vibhratham ,
Nanayudha tharam bhakthya , mayuresam namayaham.

I salute the lord of peacock , who killed various Rakshasas,
Who assumes various forms and who carries various weapon with devotion.

5.Indhradhi devatha vrundai rabheeshtamaharnisam,
Sadha sadhvyaktha mavyaktham, mayuresam namamyaham.

I salute the Lord of peacock , who fulfils all desires.
Of all groups of devas including Indra,
Who is always very clear as well as not clear.

6.Sarva shakthimayam devam , sarva roopadharam vibhum,
SArva vidhya pravaktharam, Mayuresam namamyaham.

I salute the Lord of peacock , Who is the God with all powers,
Who is the lord assuming all forms and one who grants all knowledge.

7.Parvathi nandanmam Shambor Ananda parivardhanam,
Bhakthanandakaram nithyam , Mayuresam Namamyaham.

I salute the Lord of peacock, who is the one increasing the joy,
Of Parvathi and Shiva and who daily makes his devotees happy.

8.Munir dyeyam muninutham,, muni kama prapoorakam,
SAmashti vyashti roopam thwaam mayuresam namamyaham.

I salute the Lord of Peacock , who is meditated by sages,
To whom sages are devotees , who completes the desires of sages,
Who is filled with truth and divine wisdom and who is the truth.

9.Srava aJnana nihanantharam , sarva jnanakaram suchim ,
Sathya jnanamayam sathyam , mayuresam namamyaham.

I salute the lord of peacock , who destroys all types of ignorance ,
Who is pure and gives all types of knowledge ,
And who is truth and is full of all type of wisdom.

10.Aneka koti Brahmanda nayakam , jagad iswaram,
Anantha vibhavam, Vishnum Mayuresam namyaham

I salute the Lord of peacock , who is the lord of billions of Brahmandas,
Who is the God of all universe , who has endless greatness and is peaceful.
