Kanna, neela varna kannaa  palikka

Vasudeva-Pavangal,

Jnangalinne-  Kaarunya  yegidene

 

Oh Krishna, the blue colouredKrishna , look after us,

Oh Vasudeva, We the poor people  today,

Please grant us  your mercy

 

Koottu kaarodothu, kaali  mekkan

Kalindhi theerathananja   devaa

Kaliyan   than meethe,  keri ninnu

Kaliya  mardhanam cheitha balaa

 

Oh god   who along   with your   friends,

Reached  shores of Yamuna to herd the  cattle

Oh Boy   who climbed  and stood  on Kaliya,

And killed him

 

Poothanaye kola cheitha balaa

Poothanaa moksham nadathiyone

Mallane  porittu  konna   devaa

Mathula  nigraham  cheitha   devaa

 

Oh boy  who  killed  Poothana

Oh One who granted salvation to pothana

Oh God   who fought   and killed  the wrestler

Oh God who killed your uncle

 

Amma yasoda  vaa poilarnnu

EErezhu  lokavum  kaattiyone

Dukhangal aasu  akathuvaanai

Ambadi  kanna  nee  odi  vaayo

 

He who opened  his mouth wide,

And showed  all the three worlds to Yasoda

For removing  our   sorrows   quickly,

Oh Krishna of Brindavan , please  come running

Paleya  , malinyam  theendathirikkan,

Kalakedathum,  varaathirikkan

Kalan  varum neram   Raksha labikkan,

Kalam  kalayaathe cholka namam

 

Oh Lord of milk ocran,  For dirt not to touch me

For  bad times  not come to me

For getting protection   when God of death comes

Without wasting time, Chant  the name

 

BHaryayo  , bharthavo  , makkalo  , sampatho

Veerya parakrama bhavangalo

Anthakan  yethumbol jeevane  rakshippan

Namiyaam   Sri Krishnan  yethi cherum

 

Whether it is wife , husband, children , riches,

The emotions of Valour  or heroism,

Will not be there to protect you  when God of death comes

But  the very great Sri  Krishna  would reach

 

Narayana  nama keerthanam  Cheyyuka

Paaram hari rathi  neduka

Lokathilokkeyum, chuthi  thirinjalum

Sokam  theeranoru  margamilla

 

Do the singing of name  of Narayana

And by that  get  the love  of Hari

Even if you  wander  all over the world,

There  is no method  to destroy your sorrow

 

Puthra mithraadhikal, bandhukkal yennivar,

Ethrayo   per undengil  koodi,

Pathreesa vahana bhakthi labhikkaykil

Athalaanu   avayennu  orkkanam

 

Inspite of your having  large number  of

Children , relatives     and friends

If you get the devotion to  steed of Lord Narayana

Remember  those  things are  not  your shade

 

Rajadhipathyamum, roga Sukhadhiyum

Poojyamaanennu  oarthu mohikkenda

Aayathil aasakthi   vekkum  janangalo,

Mayayil  pettu   valanjidunnu

 

Do not thing  that  ownership of country

Not  freedom of disease are  great  and  get attracted

The people who   keep desire on them,

Get caught  in illusion and get distraught

 

 

AAdhiyum, vyaadhiyum  vitu  piriyaathe,

Badha poal  badhikkum  aayavare

 AAyathu  thellonnu chinthichaal avarkku

Mayasam  koodathe  kandariyaam

 

To those   who  have  worries  and diseases

Never  parting from them like perennial  attacks

If they think little   about them, they,

Can without   any difficult    find out

 

Yennalum aayathariyathe jeevanmaar

Chennu  chaadidunnu Maayaabdhiyil

Yee thathwam oarthu  kondevarum namangal

Keerthanam  cheyyuka  nanmakkayi

 

In spite of that  , without understanding that,

Peoplle go and jump  in the ocean of illusion

All of you remember  this principle, please,

Sing  the names   for your god

Illa sukham, namukku  oarthu  kolluga

Yajnavum , jnanavum   yogavum  poojayum

Yajnesa  pada  namaskaravum

 

Kesava  nama sangeerthanam poalave

EEsa  santhoshathe nalgiyilla

Vathalayeswaran sampreethiyaakile

Chitham theliyu , mukthi  kittu

 

Other vise in spite of all greatness  joining

There is no pleasure for us, please remember  this

Yagas, wisdom  , luck, worship,

Saluting the   feet  of the Lord of Yajna

Would not grant  you joys , similar to

The singing  of the name  of Lord Kesava

Only if lord of Guruvayur  is pleased

Your mind will become clear  and you  will get salvation

 

Chitha vishudhiyaal, bhakthi labhichidum

Bhaktha manassilo  , Krishnan minnum

Bala gopalakan chithe  kalikkumbol

Balanmaar makkalai  veno pinne

 

When your mind becomes clean, you would get devotion,

And in the mind of a devotee, Lord Krishna  will shine

When the young Krishna  , plays in your mind

Do you need  boys   as your  children

 

Yennura  cheitheedum  poonthana  then mozhi

Annavannu sathyamayi  theerum

Maruthaadheeswara   sannidhi thannilo

Doorathil mathengo  aanennalum

 

Narayana namam  nithyam mudangaathe,

Neraai  japikkku bhakthanmaare

Aartharaam bhaktharil karunyam  varshikkum

Moorthi thrayeswaran  Maruthesan

 

This honeyed words  of poonthnam

Would become   truth to him that  day

In the temple  of lord of Guruvayur,

Even if it is some place  far away,

 

Without break , daily    chant  name of Narayana

With  devotion  , oh devotees

On the devotees  who desire  , mercy will be showered

By  the lord of trinity of Gods, the lord of  Guruvayur

 

Nama sangeerthanam cheithidum nammale,

Samodham rakshikkum , sathyam, sathyam

Paduka, paduka  , Narayana  Namam

Neduka neduka  Nithya anandam

 

If we  , the people do sing his names

With consent, he would protect  , protect
