1.Karumbin madhuramena kalanthu vilangum  unnai

Virumbum  adiyen vinai  theer  ,Velayudhane

 

Oh  Velayudha please  remove  my  problems, who  likes you

And  is merged  with you  like  sweetness  in sugarcane

 

2.Paalinum   nei poal paruki aruntha  , unthan

Kolamathai yaar arivaar kuzhanthai  Velyudhana

 

For drink like  the ghee  in the milk, Who will ,

Know your form  Oh Baby  Velayudhaa

 

3.Thanthai thai  daivam, sath guru nee yenave,

Chinthai cheivaarkku inba nalam cheyyum  Velaudhane

 

Because you are  father  , mother   as well  as Sath guru

You  do sweet comfort  to those who think about you  , Oh Velayudhaa

 

4.Devaadhi devaa  nin thiruvadiyai nambum

Yennai kaa vaa, Kumaaraa , karunai  velayudhane

 

Oh god of gods   to me   who believes in your divine feet

5.Karpagame , thene  , karumbe, kaniyamuthe

Arputhame , anbe  arasu  velayudhane

 

Oh wish giving tree , oh homey , oh sugar cane , Oh nectar like fruit

6.Kandhaa , kumara , karunaalayaa, paraman

Mainthaa, yen thuyar maathrum Velayudhane

 

Oh Skanda , Oh lad, oh temple of n mercy, oh son,

Of Lord Shiva oh Velayudha , who  pacifies  my  sorrow

 

7.Sarvanana yendru  sathre manthil oondri

Sravanam cheithaarkku , mukthi chiranthu  arul Velayudhane

 

To those  who hear deeply   in their mind  “Lord Saravana”

Oh Velayudhaa grant   special  salvation

 

8.Brahman ariyaa  pranavathin unmai

Thanai parasivan  magizha pakarntha, Velayudha

 

The truth  of Pranava(Om) which Lord Brahma did not know,

You told to Lord Shiva  and  made  him happy  , Lord Velayudha

 

9.Kanmaniye, jnana  karunai thiru uruvi

Vin maniye, yenthan  virumbe  Velayudha

 

Oh darling, Oh gem of the sky  who has  the form

10.Aruna giri nadharkku  anbudane uraitha,

Porul athanai  yenakku  pugalvai  , Velayudhane

Yenthoorum pothra   yezhuntha Velayudhane

 

He who did Shiva  Kachanam(?)  in thiruchendur

And stood up being praised by  all towns , Oh Velayudha\

 

16Thiruvavin kudiyil. Devar    munivar  thozha

Guruvaaki  nindra Kuzhanthai  Velayudhane

 

In thiruvavin kui  as a  baby you stood as Guru

Being praised  by devas  and sages , Oh velayudha

 

17Yerakathil  meviyirunthu thavam  cheivaarkku

Tharakathai  othum  Shanmukha , Velayudhane

 

He who lives    in   THiruverakam  and teaches,

THaraka to those  who   do penance there , Oh Velayudha

 

18Ennillaa  kodi  thalamirukka, idhayum yenni

Anbar  thuthiyai naadum  , Velayudhane

 

Though there  are several  crorers of places, Thinking tthis,

And desiring  for prayer  of devotees , Oh Velayudha

 

19.Sooran mudhalai, tholayaa  asurarkalai

Ver arukka   vantha  vinnavaa  , Velayudhane

 

For uprooting asuras like Soora  who never gets lost

You   the God   came , Oh Velayudha

 

20.Aasaa  paasavum agathri yennayum unthan

Dasrakaludan   cherkka  thakaatho, Velayudhane

 

Not mothering  about love and  affection, can you not ,

Make me join   as one  of your servants  , Oh Velayudha

 

21.Choothu, kolai , kalavu  , dur budhi

Kamam vittu neethiyavar  paalikum  Velayudhane

 

He who observes justice  by leaving  deceit , murder , theft

Bad  thoughts   as well  as passion, Oh Velayudha

 

22.Nillaa mana  kurangu nirmalamai nirkka oru

Chollal  arulina thendru  Velayudhane

 

For   the ever moving monkey of the mind  to stand,

With purity was told by  one of your words  , Oh Velayudha

 

23.Unnai  paniya unarvu yenakku  thantha chuddar

Thannai  paniyaamal   arul thaarum , Velayudhane

 

Without saluting   the flame   that  gave me the  thought ,

Of  saluting you, Oh  Velayudha   you gave  me your blessing

 

24.Unnayandri very porul  ondrum illai yendru

Nambi  sannidhiyil  vanthu arul  thaarum  Velayudhane

 

Make me believe  that there  is nothing  else  except

25.Karrthikayil   un padham kandu darsithorkku

Keerthiyudan  padhavi  cherkkum  Velayudhane

 

You who gives  position with fame   to those   who see ,

Your feet  on Karthika  day, Oh Velayudha

 

26.Sashtiyil   sathruvai samharithu , avar  anbarukku

Isha sidhi thanthu   arulayya  , Velayudhane

 

After  killing  the enemy in Sashti , you grant  fulfillment

Of desire  to their friends  , Oh Velayudha

 

27Valli vrutham  virumbi  thuthippavarkku

Thullu  mayil yeri vanthu   sukham   tharum  Velayudhane

 

To those who desire  Valli penance  and pray you

You climb on dancing peacock and give  comfort , Oh Velayudha

 

28.Shanmugane  , yennudaya  chanchalathi  nee agathi,

Kan maniyil  un arulai  kaattum  Velayudhane

 

Oh Shanmuga please remove my indecisiveness

And show me  your blessing in my eye balls  , Oh Velayudha

 

29Yezhai mukham parthu irangi rakshithu arula

Vezha mayileri  ingu  vilangum, Velayudhane

 

See the face  of the poor man, take pity and to  protect him

Shine here climbing  on elephant  like peacock ,  Oh  Velayudha

 

30Theeraa  Vyadhi yellam thiru neethrinaal  agathi,

Peraakiyendre  , yen pini  theer  , Velayudhane

 

After removing all uncurable  diseases by  sacred ash

And becoming famous, please cure my illness , Oh  Velayudha

 

31.Yentha vyaadhiyum  illamal  kaathu arula

Chinthayilum  panditharai  theden  , Velayudhare

 

For protect and bless  me to be without  any disease

Even in my thought , I will not search for a doctor, Oh Velayudha

 

32Vanchanyaal  pillikalai  maaranm cheivorai

Nenjam pilanthu vizha ninaikkum  Velayudhan

 

To those  who by deceit   trouble  people  by black magic

Oh  Velayudha you will want them to fall down after  their chest  bursts

 

33.Yethinai naal indha  veedu kandu  uzhalvor

Chitham irangi yen paal thippum , Velayudhane

 

Please take mercy on those who wander  without,

Seeing   way to go to heaven   for ever  , Oh Velayudhaa

 

34.Kali kalamendru unathu  karuthu irangaathu  irundhaal

Chaliyaaro nin adiyaar, Shanmukhaa  Velayudhaa

 

If you do not take mercy   thinking  this is Kali age ,

Would not your devotees  get bored, Oh Shanmukha, Oh Velayudha

 

35. Namba  mudiyaathavarai nazhuva  vittu, neeyirunthaal

Appuviyil   un adimai  yaar  kaan , Velayudhane

 

If you stay making   escape   those  people who cannot  be believed

In this would  , who would be  your slave  , Oh Velayudha

 

36AAru mukham poal yenakku  aaruthalai  cheithu arul

Veru mukham ondrum  iniyum venden  , Velayudhane

 

Like your   six faces, please  console  me

And then I will not ask for another  face , Oh Velayudha

 

37.Velum  mayilum vilakkum  un adiyaar vaazhi

JNanamathu Vazhi  nallor  Vazhi  , Velayudhane

 

Hail your devotees who  explain about your Vel and Peacock
