Daily Sanskrit  prayer  Schedule for  a Vishnu  devotee

(compiled from a book called   Srimad Ramayanam and All  round success  .My acknowledgements. This is my third such compilation   .  The first one   was for devotees  of Lord   Shiva  in Sanskrit
And the second one   was for   devotees of Lord Shiva  in Tamil.



I . Day to day prayers    from morning to night


1.Waking up

       Meditate  on Lord Krishna and

Chant  Hari, Hari,  Hari  Thrice

2.Brushing teeth

Pray  Peepul  tree  :-

Ayur balam, Yaso varcha , Praja pasu Vasini,
Brahma prajnaam cha  medhaam cha thwam  no dehi vanaspathe

Would you not give me, Oh product of the forest.
Long life, fame, splendour, children, cattle and riches,
As also knowledge of God and intellectual wisdom.

3.Taking bath
SAmastha Jagad AAdhaaraa , SAnkha  Chakra  Gadhadhara,
DEva dehi Mamanujnaam yushmath theertha nishevane

Oh God   who is the basis  of the world ,
Who holds the conch, wheel and mace,
Oh God , please  give me permission,
To wash myself   using   your scared waters

5.Immediately after  bath

Wear   the caste marks and say  “Asmad Gurubhyo nama”
(I offer salutations to my guru)

6.Sitting  for meals

Before taking meals
Thank God and chant “ Achyutha, Anantha  , Govinda”

7.Starting to the  office

Vanamali  , gadhi   shaankhi   chakri  cha Nandaki,
Sri Man narayano  Vishnu Vasudevo abhi rakshathu

Protect us Oh Lord Narayana Who wears the forest garland, Who has the mace, conch ,
 sword and the wheel. And who is called Vishnu and the Vasudeva

8.Reaching the   office and starting to work

Yaam   medhaam  deva ganaa  pitharascho upasathe  ,
THayaa  maamadhya medhayaagne medhavinam kuru swaha

Let that wisdom which is worshipped   by crowds  od DEvas  andancestors,
Let that  become mine  , Oh Fire make  me  an efffecient wise  one.Salutations

9.n the evening   after  work when going home

Yaa  krupaa muni santhraanwe yaa  krupaa kapi rakshae  ,
Yaa vibheeshana rakshaayaam  saa  Rama  mayi   dheeyathaam.

Let that mercy which   was shown to saints and sages,
Let that  mercy which protected the monkeys,
Let that which protected  Vibheeshana,
May please   be shown towards me by Lord Rama

10.In the evening after  reaching home

Thava Dasoham,  THava Dasaoham , THava  Dasoham Dasaradhe

I  am your slave , I am your slave ,
I am your slave  , Oh son of  king Dasaradha

11, Before  Dinner

Sradhaam prathar  havamahe sradhaa  madhyandhinam pari
Sradhaam   suryasya nimruchi  sradhe  sradhaapayeha na

With attention  I offered   the morning  oblations  ,
I then  gave   the   noon  oblations also  ,
I  then offered  to Sun God in the evening,
With attention  , did I not  make my offerings?

12.Before Going to bed

Ramaskandam  hanumantham , vainatheyam  vrukodharam,
Sayane    ya smaraneeyam  , duswapnam thasya  nasyathi.

Rama Sitting on shoulders  of Hanuman  ,
Garuda    and Lord BHeema  ,
If remembered   at the time of going to bed,
His  bad dreams   would get destroyed.

II.Special  prayers  for   different  accessions:-

1.When important work   needs to be done:-

Asesha vigna  samanam anikeswara Maasraye,
Srimatha karunambodhe sikshastoratha ivokthidham

For  complete  relief from  all obstacles ,
I completely depend   on God Vishvaksena,
Who is the  shore less  ocean  of mercy ,
And who also the power  to correct  and punish

2.When starting  on an important   journey

Agratha  Prushtadha schiva  Parswathascha  Maha Balou,
AAkarna poorna  dhanvanou rakshethaam RamaLakshanou

With very powerful  well drawn  bow  , Rama  and Lakshmana ,
May protect me   at the front, back     as well as sides

3,When  taking  medicine

Apaamaarjathu Govindo, naro Naarayana sthadhaa
SAdhaasthu   sarva   dukhaanaam  pradhamou vachanadware

Govinda, Nara  and Narayana   cure the  diseases,
Always all our sorrows  are first removed  by religious prayers

4.When threatened  with  unexpected   danger

Nama  Kodanda  Hasthaya Sandhi krutha   saraya cha ,
Khandithaakhila daithyaya Ramaaya Apan nivarine

Salutations  to  Rama  with KOdanda in his hand    who removed   danger,
By cutting off the Rakhasas  by  arrows kept on that bow

5.For getting   favourable decision   from people in power

Ashta bahu   yuthaam   devim  , simhasana  vara  sthithaam,
Hamsaaroodaam  smareth  devim  vijayaam  vijayamaapathaye

If we  remember   that  goddess with   eight hands , Wo sis on throne,
Who rides on a swan , We would  be attaining  only victory

6.Comprehensive for  all important occasions

Vishnu Shodasa nama Stotram
(The prayer of Vishnu with 16 names)

Oushadhe chinthayeth Vishnu,
Bhojane cha Janardhanam,
Sayane Padmanabham cha ,
Vivahe cha prajapathim.                                 1

I think of Vishnu while taking medicine,
I think of Janardhana while taking meals,
I think of Lord Padmanabha while sleeping,
And think of Prajapathi during my marriage.

(Vishnu-Peaceful one, Janardhana-He who troubles bad people,
Padmanbha-He who lotus flower in his belly button,
Prajapathi-The lord of all people)

Yudhe Chakradharam Devam,
Pravase cha Trivikramam,
Narayanam thanu thyage ,
Sreedharam Priya sangame.                              2

I think of Chakradhara during the war,
I think of Trivikrama during travels,
I think of Narayana at the time of death,
And think of Sridhara , when I am making love.

(Chakradhara-Wielder of the wheel, Trivikrama- he who
Measured the world in three steps, Narayana-He is whom
All souls reside and Sridhara-He who carries Lakshmi)

Duswapne smara Govindam,
Sankate Madhu soodham,
Kanane narasimhancha ,
Pavake Jala sayinam.                                          3

Think of Govinda when you have bad dreams,
Think of Madhusoodhana when you are in trouble,
Think of Lord Narasimha  in the forest,
And think of Jala sayina when in side the fire.

(Govinda-He who takes care of all beings,
Madhusoodhana-He who killed the Ogre called Madhu
Narasimha-The half man-lion form and
Jala sayina-He who sleeps on water)

Jalamadhye Varahancha ,
Parvathe Raghunandanam,
Gamane Vamanam chaiva.
Sarva karyeshu Madhavam.                                 4

Think of Varaha in the middle of water,
Think of Raghunandana in the top of the mountain,
Think of Vamane when you are departing,
And think of Madhava in all cases.

(Varaha-Boar , Raghunandana-the son of Raghu’s clan,
Vamana-the dwarf and Madhva- He who is he Lord of knowledge)
