Medha Dakshinamurthy  Ashtottara

Translated  by
P.R.Ramachander

(Dakshinamurthy a spiritual  form of lord Shiva  as a  yogic lad   with serene . tranquil and  pleasing   countenance , who is shown sitting under   a banyan tree   on an elevated platform   on a tiger skin and teaching  large number of  old sages. It is written , that he  maintains silence   but the sages   understand everything .He is considered   that he  is the personification of  spiritual wisdom and eminence ,He ihas four hands  , holding a rosary  , a jnana mudra  , a drum and a flaming torch. His temple  is generally on the  southern circumbulatory   path  of a Shiva temple , always facing the south . Medha Dakshinamurthy   is considered as the God of planet Guru  . Normally to please Guru    Dakshinamurthy  is worshipped. In this month of July Guru is going to move from Karkidaka rasi   to Simha rasi  , Some Panchangams  mention that it is on 5th July and some others on 14th July  . Guru never does harm to any body but when it loses power , minor problems may result. All those  in whose cases   the Guru loses power   would be greatly benefited by   worshipping Medha Dakshinamurthy.)
