Brahmha Samhitha in English with translation
Translated by
P.R.Ramachander
(This great book
was found in Thiruvattar Adhi Kesava temple by the saint Chithanya Maha Prabhu and he made it the most important foundation
of Gaudiya Vaishnavism , which i was
spread all over the world by ISKCON . In
spite of this greatness I could not find any translation on line
by South Indian authors and So I
attempted to translate it)
The origins of the text known as Brahma-samhita are lost
in cosmic antiquity. According to Vedic tradition, these “Hymns of Brahma” were
recited or sung countless millennia ago by the first created being in the
universe, just prior to the act of creation. The text surfaced and entered
calculable history early in the sixteenth century when it was discovered byChaithanya
Maha Prabhu exploring the manuscript
library of an ancient temple known as Thiruvttar Adhi kesava
Perumal temple . Prior to the introduction of the printing press, texts
like Brahma-samhita existed only in manuscript form, painstakingly handwritten
by scribes and kept under brahminical custodianship in temples, where often
they were worshiped as sastra-Deity, or God incarnate in holy scripture.
In the temple of Adi-kesava, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
discussed spiritual matters among highly advanced devotees. While there, He
found a chapter of the Brahma-samhita. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu was greatly
happy to find a chapter of that scripture, and symptoms of ecstatic
transformation -- trembling, tears, perspiration, trance and jubilation -- were
manifest in His body. There is no scripture equal to the Brahma-samhita as far
as the final spiritual conclusion is concerned. Indeed, that scripture is the supreme
revelation of the glories of Lord Govinda, for it reveals the topmost knowledge
about Him. Since all conclusions are briefly presented in the Brahma-samhita,
it is essential among all the Vaishnava literatures. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
copied the Brahma-samhita, and then with great pleasure
In spite of the seeming topical complexity of the text,
the essential core of the Brahmasamhita consists of a brief description of the
enlightenment of Lord Brahma by Lord Sri Krsna, followed by Brahma’s
extraordinarily beautiful prayers elucidating the content of his revelation: an
earthly, beatific vision of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krsna,
and His eternal, transcendental abode, Goloka Vrndavana, beyond the material
cosmos. This core of the text stretches through verse twenty-nine to fifty-six,
and a brief, subsequent exposition by Lord Krsna on the path of krsna-bhakti,
love of God, brings the text to a close.

Sanchinthya thasya sadruseem thanumapurethe,
Govindam adhi purusham thamaham Bhajami.
I sing about Govinda the primeval God,
Meditating on whom under the control of,
Anger, passion, friendship and other such emotions,
As well as fear, affection, reverence, servility,
Would result in to the bodily form fitting such emotions.
Meditating on whom under the control of,
Anger, passion, friendship and other such emotions,
As well as fear, affection, reverence, servility,
Would result in to the bodily form fitting such emotions.

Vidanthasthe santha kshithi viralacharaa kathipaye
Lakshmi’s consirt
enjoys and is the, the great god
and is the wish giving tree,
All trees of the land
are wish giving gems, the
water is the nectar ,
Telling stories singing,
dancing , walking , flute
, dear girl friend,
Divine joy,
lustrous flame, also the divine
are all enjoyed every where
And the ocean of milk which flows from the
cow called great Kamadhenu,
All these do not
stay for a long time but vanish in a half a second,
And I worship the white island , that spears like
goloka for me from here ,
Which is meant
for few
great saints of this world, who go there .
57.Adhovacha maha vishnur bhagawantham prajapathim,
Brahman mahathwa
vijnane praja sarge cha chen mathi,
Pancha sloki imam vidhyam

the Prajapathi,

inclines to create beings,
Then oh son, i
would give you to you in five verses.

devotion arises, the soul is filled with divine blissful joy,
And the comparison
less devotion to God
is the characteristic of this love
59.Pramanai sthath
sadaacharai sthavbhyaasair nirantharam,

The soul of the soul wakes up and the
top most devotion can be attained.

Which can be easily attained by great devotion
to me.

Thenaiva karmanaa
dhyayan maam paraam bhakthi michathi.
After abandoning
all acts of dharma and praying
with faith to me,
You would attain
the realization easily , easily
like that,
Do permanently the karma like people of the world follow,
And by doing that
and also meditating on me , you would attain divine devotion.

Bheejam pradhanam

I am the root of this universe having,
Movable and not movable beings and I being,
The lord of the nature my wishes are your wishes,
And so Oh Brahma regulate your actions according to them.
