Kannande punya
Namangal (A Malayalam song translated by me in 2002)
By
Ottur Nambudirpad
(One of my first
translations from Malayalam done in 2002 was this great song .It is as if a sixteen year old boy
looks at what he had written on a slate when he was studying Kinde garten.
I feel even then I had done a great job .Hear it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDkRXjS-Ed4

When will my ears,
Drench in sweetness,
Of thy name, Lord Krishna
After hearing thy name,
When will I in ecstasy,
Drown in my tears, my Lord.
After becoming pure,
In this bath of tears,
When will I sing thy name,
For myself, My Lord.
When will I forget,
This land and sky,
After singing for myself, My Lord.
After forgetting the sky,
When will I dance,
In the ecstasy of name, My Krishna.
In an ecstatic dance,
When will I erase,
The designs in the floor of life, My Lord.
