(this is a prayer  detailing what  should be done  on the

Varalakshmi festival day)

1.Vara Lakshmi  vritham irunthaal

Deerga  Sumangali Veettuku Varuvaal

Karunyamana  devi   mukam

Kalasathil   vaithu  vazhi paduvom

Par kadal  nayaki  parvai padum

Panivom , pon porul  thedi varum

Poorana  Vrithame  perinbam (Narayani….)

 

If You observe  Varalalkshi  Vritha

The long standing sumangli(she with living husband)  will come home

WE will attach the  face  of the  merciful goddess

On the kalasa and   do the worship

Then the glance of  the goddess of ocean of milk will fall

WE will bow, gold and wealth  will  come in search of us

The golden vritha  gives  very greaty joy(chant”narayani…”

 

2,Matham  aavani   thothaana  velliyil

MaNayai katti  , mani  vilakku yethri

Malai thoranam  yeralaam  amaithu

Mangala karamai  Maakkolam izhaithu

Vazhai ilai pottu , theertha  arisi mel

Poorna kalasathai yethru

Varalakshmi deviye   varavena paadu

Thirumagale   vanthu  amarvaale  (narayani…)

 

In the month  of Avani(August-september)  on the proper  Friday

Build   the seat , light  the great  lamp

Tie garlands  and  other decoration

After  putting auspecious  rangoli using  grinded rice

Spread  a banana leaf, on the  spread  rice

Keep the full kalasa

Sing “Oh goddess Varalakshmi , come”

Then the goddess  Lakshmi  would come and sit(Narayni…)
