Naimisaranye  vasicharuledunna

Mamuneendranammar  aruli cheithu pinneyum

 

The great sages  who lived  in,

Naimisaranya  forest  again told

 

Chollu chollinyum Suthaa  , Maha Mathe

Mulla banaari mahathmyam manokaram

 

Oh Sutha  please tell , Oh greatly wise  person,

The pretty story  of greatness   of  killer  of Manmatha

(enemy of one who shoots  jasmine arrows)

 

Saadhu   prdosha vaasa  prakarangal

Bodhippathinnu   AAsa  namukkedo

 

The method  of  properly observing Pradosha

I am desirous  of teaching you

 

SAnkararadhanam kondu Maha  moha

Sankadam theerum  yennallo  paranju nee

 

Did you not  tell that  due to worship of,

Sankara  the sorrow  due to great  desire  would end

 

Sankhayillethume saaraam  Shivarchanam

Thath  kadha varnanaa   aakarnanaa  dhyanavum

 

The  summary  of worship of  Shiva  is innumerable

And also hearing the description of meditation and his story

 

Yengil nee  cholkedo , samsaramakunna

Van kadal  paaram kadaneeduvan

 

If it is so you please tell  the method  to ,

The big ocean  of Samsara  easily

 

Odamaayulloru gowressa  poojanam

Kedakaneeduvaan  oushadham samaatham

 

The boat  of the worship  of lord  of Gowri

Is agreed to be the medicine  to remove the problems

 

Yennathu kettu  mahamathi soothanum

Vandanam cheithu  paranju thudanginaar:_

 

Hearing that  the very intelligent Sutha,

Saluted   and started  telling

 

Kettarulenam  pradosha  mahathmyangal

Kettaal   anushtippathinnum  kazhivarum

 

Please hear  the  greartness  of Pradosha

And if you you hear, you  would  be also able  to observe it

 

Mandha  pradosham  karutha  paksham thannil

Vannaal thungenam  annee  maha vritham

 

The pradosham on Saturday  during  waning moon,

If it comes  that day you have to start this penance

 

Krithi vaasassaya devan prodosheshu

Nrutham aadeedunnu  kailsa  parvathe

 

The Deva  called  Krithivasa(Shiva) would  dance

On the  pradosham day  on Kailasa  mountain

 

Brahmanum  , vishnuvum  Chandranum  Indranum

Brahmacharikalum, deva kadambavum

 

Brahma, Vishnu  , Moon, Indra,

All Brahma charis  and  the crowd  of devas

 

SArva devougham  pradosha vela vidhou

Sarva  saile  vasicheedunnu  saadharam

 

All these  devas  on the  day  of Pradosha

Would liva  on the mountain of Shiva respectfully

 

Daridrya nasanam, keerthi samvardhanam

Vairi vidhwamsanam, sarva  rogapaham

 

Destroyer  of poverty  , increaser  of fame

Destroyer  of enemies and  cure  of  all diseases

 

Aayushyam  , aaroghya  bhoghya  bhagya  pradham

Dhaayaadha  puthra mithranandha  vardhanam

 

Increaser  of life span , giver of health  pleasure  and luck

And increaser of clan, sons   and  joy   with friends

 

Samsara  bhanjanam , saadhu samranjanam

Mangalaanandham Pradosha  maha vrutham

 

Destroyer of cycle  of earthly lives, merger  with great pious people

Leading to auspicious  joy  is the   great  penance of Pradosha

 

Archanam dhyanam pradakshinam  tharpanam

Thacharanambhuje  pojjanam, vandhanam

 

Worship  , meditation  , going round  , Acts  to satisfy

Worship on his  lotus like feet and salutation

 

Thath  kadhaa  visthaara thannama keerthanam

Thath  kripam arthana sarvaswam maha vritham

 

Reading his stories  , singing  his names

Gettng  his mercy  ,all these together  are  his great penance

 

Dravyathinnu  othathu poale shivarchanam

DRavyamillathavan  nothu kondaal mathi

 

Depending  on the material  , worship of  Shiva

And  those who  do not have material, they  need only to do the penance

 

Vithamillathavan  kaala  kramam kondu

Vithesa  thulyanam easwara aaradhanaal

 

Those  who do not have  the money,over time

Would  become equal to rich man due  to worship of God

 

Illavum chelavum vallavum vardhikkum

Illoru  samsayam nothu kondaal udan

The home  , the expenditure and the  size would increase

There  is no doubt about it  , if you observe  the penance

 

Sandhyaabhra kandane  saadharam sevichu

SAndhyaavasaane bhujichu  kolvaan mudhaa

 

By serving   the God who has  neck like dusk

And eat at the   end  of the dusk

 

AAthma shudhipradham saadhu pradosha maahathmyam

Paranju jnan  bodam varuthuvaan

 

The pious  greatness  of Pradosha which cleanses the soul

Was told  by me so that  you can understand

 

Saiva pradosham kondu kevalam,

Sarva paapangalum neengi   sukham varum

 

Due to Shiva  Pradosham at least

All sins  would go away  and you will get pleasure

 

Sathyam bhraveemi they , saaram bhraveemi they

Kruthyam bhraveemi they thathwam bhraveemi they

 

The   truth  was told  , the  summary   was told

It was  told exactly , The philosophy  was  told

 

Dharmam bhraveemi they , sarmam bhraveemi they

Marmmam  bhraveemi they, karmam bhraveemi they

 

The  dharma  was  told, the happiness  was told

The secret  was told  , the duties   were  told

 

Sankararadhanam  konde  manushyarkku

SAnkadam theerum  niroopichu kolka  nee

 

Only by worship of Shiva  , the humans

Loose  their sorrow, you  prove it  yourself

 

Muthum pradhoshopavasanathinnu,

Mathonnum  illaa  samaanam  athorku  nee

 

To the  total penance  of Pradosha ,’

There  is  nothing equal to it , Remember  this

 

Kailsa saile   vasicharuleedunna

Kalaari devan pradosha  dhayaa  nidhi

 

The  lord who is enemy of god of death ,

Who lives  on Kailasa  mountain  is the treasure of mercy  of Pradosha

 

Sailendra puthri samaksham maha  nrutha

Kolahalam thudangeedunnu  saadharam

 

Along with presence of daughter of mountain , great,

Dance  festival  starts, respectfully

 

Vanee  bhagawathi  veena  vaayikkunnu

Vaanee  manaalanum Thalam pidikkunnu

 

Godess  Saraswathi  would be playing Veena

And her husband  is  keeping the rhythm

 

Venu prayogathiindran visaradhan

Sthanu  priyaa  devi   kandu rasikkayum

Lakshmi  bhagawathi geetham othidunnu

Lakshmi  sahajan   mridanga  prayogavum

 

The  godess  Lakshmi  is singing

And her husband  is playing mridanga

 

Nandiyum Brungiyum  koode  kalikkunnu

Vandhi vrindharakanmaarum sthuthikkunnu

 

Nandi and Bhringi  are playing together,

The saluting crowd of devas  are  praying

 

Urvasee  , menakaa , rambaa  , thilothamaa

Sarva  geervanikal koodave  paadunnu

 

Urvasi , Menaka , Ramba , thilothama

And all the divine singers are  singing  together

 

Gandharwa  kinnararum  nirakkave

Sandhyaabhra  kandane  sevichu nilkunnu

 

Gandharwas   and kinnaras  together

Are  serving  the god with  duk blue  neck

 

Sarva devaa vali saannidhyam undennu

Sarva  prasidham  pradosha  sandhyaa vidhou

 

It is well  known that  all devas  are present

During the dusk  of Pradosha

 

Sarva deva pradoshartham pradoshesu

Sarvane thanne  bhajikkanam  yevanum

 

To the pradosha of all gods  , during Pradosha

All people   should  sing   about Lord  Shiva
