Sandilya  muni sreshtan arul cheithu,

Chaandeesa poojaa  Prakaaram  Grahikka nee

 

The  way that  thegreat  sage  Sandilya  told,

Understand the method of worship of shiva

 

Pakshathil  irandu, saiva  pradoshangal

Pakshmamillethume random  athyuthhamam

 

DuringFull moon and no moon there are  two pradoshas

There  is no opinion difference that  both  are  very  great

 

Kaalathu unarnnu kulichu vannu  aadharaal

Kaalochitham  karmamellam  kazhichudan

 

Wake up in the morning , come after  bathing

And as per time  do all  your  duties

 

Rudraksha   bhasmaadhi chihnam darichudan

Rudrakshangitham manthram japikkanam

 

After  wearing Rudraksha  and the sacred  ash,

Wearing the  Rudraksha you have  to chant  the manthras

 

Shambho , Mahadevaa , Sankara , Srikanta

Kumbeendra charmasthi  sarpendhu bhooshana

 

Oh Shambhu , Oh Mahadeva  , Oh Sankara , Oh Srikanta

He who decorates himself with elephant skin, snake and moon

 

Gowripathe, Vibho , Gangadharaanana

Maaranthaka  praseedhethi sthuthikkayum

 

Oh husband of Gowri, oh lord , Oh one who carries ganges

Oh killer  of Manmatha , would be pleased  with our prayer

 

Sankhara kshethram  pradakshinam vaykkayum

“KInkaram pahi maam”  yennu japikkayum

 

Going   round   the temple  of Lord Shiva

And chant  “Please  protect  this servant”

 

Abhyanga varjjanam , thamboola  varjanam

Sadhya dwijanmaaril  yeppozhum  bakthiyum

 

Do not take oil bath , do not  chew betel

Always  have  devotion   to Brahmins

 

Mouna  vritham , shiva dhyaanam nirantharam

Maaninimaarude samsarga  varjanam

 

Always penance of silence  and meditation on Lord Shiva

Avoid   having  contact  with  ladies

 

Duschintha koodaatha bhakthyaa japikkayum

Nischalathwam poondu oru idathu  irikkayum

 

With out any  bad  thoughts with devotion chant

Sit in one place  without  any movements

 

Aahaara  chinthayum koodaathe  , kandudan

Dehathma sudhyaa vasikkenam aasthayaa

 

Without any thought of food and as soon as seen

With cleanliness  of soul and body should live

 

Nidhraa  prasangavum  koodaathe  nirmalam

Rudraksha dhaari  hara  dhyaana  thathparan

 

Without  thought  of sleeping, wearing  pure

Rudraksha and interested in chanting  name of lord Shiva

 

Ambodu  sandhyakku moonara  naazhika

Mumbe kulichudan , Bhasmam  darikkanam

 

One  and half  hourd  before the  dusk

You have to take  bath and wear  sacred  ash

 

Vilwa pathraarchanam venam viseshichum

Nalla  bakthanmaarkku   athathra  phala pradham

 

Specially  you should do worship  with vilwa leaves

To the great devotees , it  gives  great result

 

Santhathikkum  yasassinum dhanathinnum

Santhatham shobhanam Pradoshika  vritham

 

To our children  , fame and money

Pradosha penance is always great

Please  understand the way to do penance to Shiva

With  a moon’s crescent on head, with  hairs tied

 

Ganga bhujangavum Nethri thadam thannil

Angajaathmaavine chuttoru chuttoru nethravum

 

With Ganges on head  and on the forehead\

The eyes that burnt  the  god of love

 

Arka chandranmaar  irippidamaakkiya

Trikkannu random, thiru nasika shobhayum

 

The two eyes  where  the   the sun and

Moon reside and the  shine  of his  divine nose

 

Swarna prabhaa bhogi kundalaalankrutham

Karna  dhwayum   chaaru  ganda  bhagangalum

 

The two  ear  globes  giving out the  luster of gold

On the two ears and  and the  pretty part  of his neck

 

Bimbadaroshtavum , dandha  rathnangalum

Bimboka leelavaloka   smithangalum

 

The red  pretty   lips , the jewel like  teeth

The  sporty  smiles  using those  lips

 

Aanambojavum Kala koota prabhaa

Maananeyojjwalam Kanta  pradheshamum

 

The  lotus like face , The shine  of Kalakoota poison,

Made  to shine  by his wife added to his area of neck

 

Vaksha sthalojjwalam  sarpa haaram, loka

Rakshaa  parangalaam naalu trikkaikalum

 

The shining  chest, the garland of snake and

The four divine hands which are for protection of world.

Maanum mazhuvum  varadhabhayangalum

Dhyanikkil aanandam yekum  Sanathanam

 

The deer  and axe , two havds showing blessing and protection

If we  meditate on them , You will  have endless  joy

 

AAlilaykotha oru  udhara pradeshavum

Chaalave romalika aalikaa bangiyum

 

The  area  of Stomach  similar to the banyan leaf

 And    the sublime prettiness of the row of hairs

 

BHangya   puli tholu uduthoru  Shobhayum

THungam  kateethatam, bhogi  kanchi  satham

The luster  of being prettily wearing the tiger  skin

The lofty  waist and   the   the serpent king

 

OOru dhwayam  chaaru  jaanu yugangalum

Cherum  kanmgalidi thaar vilasavum

The two  knewws  , the two great  thighs

The prettiness of the  joining  ankles

 

Sri padha  yugme  vilangum  nakangalum

Lopam varaathe manassil oarthideenam

 

The shining  nails  at  the end of  the feet

You should think about  these without malice

 

Kesadhi padhavum  marthyan  niroopicha

-thai  ooranthe labhichidum   arika nee

 

Please know  that  from head  to feet,

It would  be like getting   it at the end

 

Parvathi  deviye koode smarikkanam

Sarva kalam Mahadevande  sannidhou

 

We should also remember goddess Parvathi,

Who is at  all times  in front of Lord Shiva

 

Danthi vadananum thaarakaaraathiyum

Anthike  mevunna  deva  vrindangalum

 

The elephant faced one and the killer  of Tharaka

And the group of Devas   who are always  at the end

 

Bhootha ganangalum  pothi than  koothanum

Chethasi  vannu  vilangenam  yeppozhum

 

The  bhootha ganas  and the lord’s bull

Would come with   shining minds

 

SAnthathi saukhyam  varuthenam easwara

SAnthapam okke ozhikkanam easwara

 

Oh God please  bring the  welfare  of children

Oh God please  remove   all the worries

 

Bandhukkal undaayi varenam  easwara

Bandha moksham varuthenam menneswara

Oh God   , I should  get  some relations

Oh my god, you should relieve  me  of attachment

 

Artha  sampathu  varuthenam easwara
Vyartha duschintha samikkenam easwara

 

Oh God  you should get wealth consisting of money

Oh God please  remove needless bad thoughts  from my mind

 

Keerthi  kalyanam , varuthenam easwara

Moorthi saundaryam  Labhikkenam yen easwara

 

Oh God  you should bring out fame  and marriages

My god I should get  beauty   of my body

 

AArthi kshayam  varuthenam yen easwaraa

Poorthikalellam  varuthenam easwaraa

 

Oh God , you nbring about  lessening of worries

Oh God you  should bring out completeness

 

Itham nijagraham  prarthichu kondudan

Kruthi vasasine  seva  cheithaal  shubham

 

After praying like  this for our  desires,

It would be  good  if we  serve  lord Shiva

 

THejassum ojassumai ayussum arthavum

Rajathwam  Aroghya   bhoga  saukhyangalum

 

The luster , the splendor ,life span, wealth

Kingship , helath , enjoyment   and comfort

 

Sambhavicheedum  pradosha  upavaasena

Sambhu prasaadhena sarvadhaa  dehinam

 

All these  will happen by the penance  of pradosha

Due to  pleasure of Lords Smbhu always  to people

 

Brahma hathyaadhiyulla papangalum

Brahmasya  devasya moshana  doshavum

 

The  sins  like  that of killing a Brahmin

And theft from the body  of Brahmins and temples

Sankara  dravyapahaarena jaathmaam

Sankadam koode samikkum shivaarchanaal

 

All these and the the sorrow  due  to theft

Of the wealth of lord Shiva would  come down due to worship of Shiva

 

Yevam  pradosha mahathmyam  manoharam

Saiva  prasadhsmruthathinnu  karanam

 

This pretty greatness  of Pradosha

Is the cause  of nectar of getting lord  shiva pleased

 

Daridrya nasanam   dhaayaadha  vardhanam

Bhoothi lakshmikaram, bhootha peedapaharam

 

It will lead to destruction of poverty, Increase  of our clan,

The increase  in wealth of earth, destruction  of trouble due to devils

 

SAnthana pooranam  , santhosha  karanam

SAnthapa varanam  samsara  dharanam

 

Increase  in children , cause  of  happiness

Cause  of reduction of sorrow, The wearing  of wordly existence

 

Punya  pradoshaaya maha vritham

Punyavanmaare, darikkil  maha  phalam

 

The great penance  of the  godly  pradosham

Oh blessed  people , if you get it, it will lead  to great results

 

Yikkadhaa karnanam kondu  janangalkku,

Dukhangal  yellam  nasikkum  asamsayam

 

Due  to this  story  , to the people

Without any doubt   all sorrows  would get destroyed

 

Sath kadhaa saaram  kadhikkunna dehinaam

Ulkambil easan vasikkum   shubham  shubham

 

In the people  who relate  the  summary  of this great story

God  will  live, let it be good  , let it be good

 

SArva  laabhangalum sarva  saukhyangalum

Sarva  sampathum  sadananda  mokshavum

All profits  , al,pleasures

All wealth and the happy  salvation

 

Sarvam labhikkenam   easwaranugrahal

Sarvesa, Gowreesa  Sambho namosthuthe

 

Due to blessing of god   everything should be got

Oh God of all, Oh God of Gowri, Oh Sambhu  , salutations
