            The Maha Bhagawatha(  "great worshipper of Bhagavat (Vishnu) )  consists of twelve books (skandhas or cantos) totalling 335 chapters (adhyayas) and 18,000 verses. The tenth book, with about 4,000 verses, has been the most popular and widely studied. By daily reading of this supreme scripture, there is no untimely death, disease, epidemic, fear of enemies, etc. and man can attain Bhagwat(god) even in Kaliyug and reach the ultimate salvation.Few  translations verse  by verse  is available  in 5-6  languages.

  Maha Bhagawatha gives in detail,most  of Indian dynasties  and one big chapter on life  of Krishna. In Malayalam  , the first  abridgement in Malayalam was by  THunjathu ezhthachancalled  BHagawatham  kili pattu.(18th centuary)  When BHattathiri  was sick,, he sought  advice  of Ezhuthachan and he adviced  him to write  about ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu . As a result  he  wrote  his magnus opum  Narayaneeyam.Though  it is a summary  of Bhagawatha  with slightly  more than one thousand verses, it is more a book of prayer  addressed to Lord Guruvayurappa. In the past few years  Narayaneeyam became  very popular  in all over South india

     Though few summaries  of Narayaneeyam have come out, the number  of summaries  of Bhagawatha in Malayalam  are  very few

  A few months back I had the good fortune of  translating the  summary  of Narayaneeyam called  (sri Hareeyam ) by Moorkannur   Hari Nambhuthiripad .He  had worked in 2007 and 2015  as the chiefpriest(melsanthi) of the  word famous Guruvayurappan temple,

 Few days back,  I found out   that Sri Hari  Namhudiripad  had also summarised  Maha Bhagawatha  . He has summarised  it in very pretty for, Each of the chapters oF Bagawatha Mahatmyam(7)  for each  of the chapters of Maha Bhagwatha(335 chapters)  was  summarised by  one sloka(verse) and he prefers  to call it as  “Bhagawatha  thoni(boat  of Bhagawatha, written in Vanchi pattu  style). He has called it like that possibly by his verse number 12.4  which says

To  get out of the ocean of  Samsara , there is only one boat

The never decaying  God  of  Bhagawatha

 

The  great book   which was  published  in 2016 has already  undergone  four impressions

Though  people  who do not Malayalam , can read  my translation, every Malayalam knowing  Hindu  should read  this great book. You can by it  from the author (moorkannur Srehari Nambudiri, Prasadam, Chalakkudi -680307)

01.Padma  puranathil chollum bhagawatha  mahathmyathil

Aadhyam cholvoo Bakthi devi thande  kadhaye

Bakthiyude puthranmaaraam jnana vairaghyangal aho

Jara  nara  badhichathai   Naradan kandu

 

In the Bhagawatha Mahathmya  of  Padma  Purana

The story of   goddess  Devotion   is  first  told

Sage  Narada    saw   that wisdom and detachment  ,

The sons  of  Devotion  were  found to have  old age symptoms

 

02.Vedangalum Vedanthavum, Geetha poalum  cholliyittum

Puthranmaare  unarthuvaan kazhinjilla

Yi  karyathe Sanakadhi  munikalodu  paranju

Bhagawatham paadu, sArvam  bhangi yayidum

 

In spite  of chanting Veda  , Vedantha   and even Gita

They were  not able  to wake  up  their sons

They informed  about this to Sanaka  and other  sages

They  said “Sing  Bhagawatha, everything  will become alright”

 

03.Sanakadi munimaaro Naradanum othu chernnu

Gangaa there  Bhagawatham Aarambichallo

Bhagawatha puranathin mahathmyathe  cholli Muni

Bhagawatham  devanmaarkkum  durlabham athre

 

Sanaka   and other  sages     along  with  sage  Narada

Started  chanting Bhagawatha, in shores of Ganga

The sage narrated  about  greatness  of Bhagawatha

Bhagawatha is difficult   to get  even  to  the  Devas

 

04.Mahathmyathe  paadiyappol, Makkalumai  , Bakthi devi

Aandathodu  avide  yethi , aascharyam thanne

Aathma devan thande kadha  cholliyallo  anantharam

Dundhukari  dushtanai, vipran dukhichu

 

When they sang about the  greatness  , Lady  devotion

Reached  there  with joy., it is a great  wonder

Later  Athmadeva(God soul) told  his story

Dundhukari became an evil man  and Brahmin became sad

 

5.Dundhukari  dur mruthyuvaal prethamayee, sodharanaam

Gokarnano bhagawatham vayicha  neram

Sapthaahathil avasanamMoksham nedi  Dundhukari

Sajjanangal nokki nilkke Vaikuntam poki

 

Dundhukari due to bad  death  became  a dead body but his

Brother gokarna when BHagawatha  was  read, during the,

End of Sapthaha, at the end   got  salvation and Dundhukari

While  good people were  seeing , went to Vaikunta

 

6.Sapthahathin vidhiyeyum venda poale cholliyallo

Bakthi yethi, Bhagawanum  yajna saalayil

Yethu tharam klesatheyum Bhagawatham illathaakkum

Bakthi unarnnidum sathyam bhagawan  cholvu

 

He had told the rule   of Sapthaha (seven day reading) as per rules

Devotion reached The god also in Yajna  Saala

Bhagawatham would destroy  any troubles

Devotion would wake up, God would only tell the truth

 

Prathama skandam-First  Canto

 

1.1 Janma punyam nedeeduvaan , kalimalam neengeeduvaan

Yendhu venam, suthaa , saunakhadhikal  cholli

Veda  sastra  puranathin saaramenthu?  Parayane,

Veda  roopan Krishnan  yenthinnu  avatharichu?

 

To get blessing  of this birth, to remove away  the  evils  of Kali age

What is  needed  , Oh Sutha?  Said  the Saunaka sages

What is summary of  Vedas and Puranas? Please tell,

Why Krishna who had  form of Veda took incarnation?

 

1.2 Sri sukhane sthuthi cheithu suthan evam  parayunnu,

Sri Krishnanin ulla  bakthi parama lakshmyam

Varnasrama  dharmam cheithu  nedenam nish  kama Bakthi

Bakthiyillatha  anushtaanam, nish phalamathre

 

Sutha  prayed   Sage  Shuka and   told like  this,

The greatest  aim is  devotion to lord Krishna

By doing  Varnasrama  Dharma we should get the devotion without  attachments

The performance of rituals without  devotion is useless

 

1.3Avathara  roopangale   chollidunnu  Suthan pinne,

Bhagawathan  Bhagawande grantha  swaroopam

Krishna  bakthi  grantha  dharmam, sri Shuka rishi paadiyatham

Krishna  kadha  cholleedaam , jnaan, kelkkuvin  ningal

 

Afterwards Sutha told about   forms  of incarnation

Bhagwatha  is the book form  of God

The dharma in form of book  of  devotion to Krishna, I will tell,

The story of Krishna Sung  by sage  Sukha, please  hear it

 

1.4 Vyasa muni  Bhagawatham rachikkuvan  hethu  yenthu?

Vyasa  puthran yenthu  moolam  aakrushtanaayi

Veda  puranangale  nirmichittum , vyasa  manam

Venda   trupthi naadiyilla, naradan  yethi

 

What is the reason for sage Vyasa  to write Bhagawatha?

Why son of Vyasa  was  attracted to it?,

Even after  composing Vedas and  Puranas  the mind of Vyasa,

Did not get  sufficient  satisfaction. Narada  reached

 

1.5 Akrutharthan Vyasanodum Naradanum pranjallo,

Anupama Krishna kadha  Paaduka  bbhavaan,

Anubhavamun xdenikkum, mujjanmathil jnaanum daasee-

Puthranaayirunnu, sanyasimaar  kaninju

 

Narada   told  that  very   confused sage Vyasa

You please  sing the story  of matchless  Krishna

I also have  experience  , in my previous birth,

I was son of a prostitute and the sages  took pity

 

1.6Avarude  anugraham , bhagawanil  aagrahamaayi

Amma  , sarpa damsanathaal marichu poyi

Akathaaril Vishnu minni, viswathe jnaan vismarichu

Ambuja  sambhavan  thande  puthranaayi

 

Their desire  became  the blessing of God

My mother  died  due to biting  of a snake

Lord Vishnu  shined  in my mind, I  forgot  the world,

I became  the  son  Of Lord Brahma  born out of lotus

 

1,7Narada  nirdesathaale  Bhagawatham rachichallo

Narayana  chaithanyamaam punyamaam  grandham

Aswathaama  yudhandhyathil, panchali puthrare  konnu

Aejunan pidichu  ketti  vittuvayachallo

 

AS  per suggestion of Narada  he composed Bhagawatham

The blessed  book  which  has divine power  of Lord Narayana

At the end of war  ASwasthama  killed  Panchali’s  sons

Arjuna caught  and tied him, then later  he released  him

 

1,8 Brahmasthrathe kandu pedichu odiyethi utharayum

Brahmesano uthra than garbham rakshichu

Aapathukal undaakaanaai  sthuthichallo Kunthi  devi

Akam vingi, kuthra bodham kondu  dharmajan.

 

Uthara seeing the Brahmastra was scared  and reached running

And Lord Krishna  , the god of Brahma  protected the Pregnancy of Uthara

Did not Kunthi devi prayed for dangers  to come

The mind of  Dharma puthra  was  hurt due to the feeling  of crime done

 

1.9. Bheethidham of yudha bhoovil sara sayyayil kidannu

Bheeshmar Sthuthi pooja  cheithu Partha  soothane

Anantharam venda poale dharmopadesavum  cheithu

Akam neerum  thande   dharma puthrarkkai

 

In the  fierce battale  ground  , BHeeshma  was  lying down,

On bed  of arrows and he prayed  and worshipped Lord Krishna

And later as per the need  ,  taught   Dharma

To Dharma puthra whose mind was  burning

 

1.10Pandavar vijayam nedi  yudhathingal, anantharam

Pandava  priyanaam  kannan  madakkamai

Pathakku  iru vasavumai kaathu ninnu  baktha  janam

Paadi , sthuthi , bhavano  aanartham yethi

 

Pandavas  won   in the  war and later

Krishna  who was  loved by Pandavas  started  returning

And on both sides  of the road stood  the crowd of  devotees

They sang and prayed but the God reached  dancing

 

1.11 Paancha janya  dhwani kettu, poornanda rasathode

Poorna kumbhavumai yethirethu  dwaraka,

Pithaa, maathaa, guru paadhe, namaskaram  cheithu  Krshnan

Pathnimaare  ramippichu  leelakalaadi

 

Hearing  his Panchajaya  conch, along with full joy

Dwaraka  received  him with traditional joy (full pot)

Krishna  saluted  mother  , father  and  his  teacher

He entertained  his wives   by playing sports

 

1.12.Baktha rakshakkai  kondu, uthara  than garbhathilai

Baktha dasan Krishnan swayam avatharichu

Uthara prasavichathaam uthamanaam parikshithin

Uyarchakal Jathakathil  munimaar  cholli

 

For protection of devotees,  From the  womb of Uthara,

The servant of devotees  Krishna  took birth himself

The greatness of great   Prakshith who was  born to Uthara,

Was told by the sages  from his  horoscope

 

1.12.Theertha yathra  kazhinjethi vidhuranum hasthinathil,

Theerthu  cholli yettanodu  , bakthi  mahathwam

Hithamerum  veda  thulya  vakya, kettu  Dhritharashtran

Himalayam thedi  vaana prasthanaayi  maari

 

After  pilgrimage  Vidhura  reached  Hasthinapura

With definiteness  he told his elder brother  about  greatness of devotion

Dritharashta  hearing the pleasant words  equal to Vedas

Changed  himself to Vanaprastha  and  went towards  Himalayas

 

1.14 Durnimitham pala kandu , Rajan Dharmajanum

Dwarakakku poya  parthan  vannathumilla

Kaathiruppin  oduvilai Arjunanum  vannu  chernnu

Kazhinjilla villu  uyarthaan karanju parthan

 

The King Dharma puthra  saw  many  bad  omens

Arjuna who had gone to Dwaraka did not return back

At the  end of waiting  Arjuna reached  back

He was  not able to lift  the bow  and Arjuna  cried

 

1.15.Padava priyanaam Krishnan swadhamam prapica vaartha

Pandavanaam Arjunan paranju  dukhathaal

Pandavaro  Bhagawande  padham thedi vaikidaathe

Parikshitho Rajaavayi bhavad  ichayaal

 

The news  of Krishna   who liked Pandavas reaching his place,

Was  told by  Arjuna , the pandava with  sorrow

Pandavas  without delay  went in search of God’s place

Due to wish of God , Parikshith  became  the king

 

1.16  Parikshitho dig vijayam nedaanayi orunginaan

Pasuvinde  oppam oru  kalaye  kandu

Bhoomiyim dharmvumanu ivar yennu  manassilaayi

Bhoomi pala vesha dhari kaliyaanennum

 

Parikshith made  preparations  for  conquests of places

He saw a  bull along with  a cow

He understood that  they were  earth  and Dharma

And the  one who had dressed  as  protector  of their owner  as  Kali age

 

1.17 Kalaye  thallunna kali  thande  nigrahathinnai

Kopathode paanjadutha chakravarthi than

Kaalkkal veenu Kalli nedi naalu sthanam  choothu kali

Madhyam, sthree seva, himsayum pinne swarnavum

 

The Kali  was beating  the bull  for killing it,

He fell at the feet  of the Emperor   who rushed with anger

And he  managed to get   four  places  in Gambling

Alcohol, serving of women  , torture and  Gold

 

1.18 Kaattil naayaattinnu poyi Parkshithum  oru  dhinam

Kali badhicha  Rajanum  daha  chinthayaal

Thapaswiyaam mamuni than kazhuthil paambine  chaarthi

Thapichu  muni  kumaranum saapamai

 

One day  Parikshith  went  for hunting  in the forest

The king who was affected by Kali, due to thought  of thirst

Put a snake  on the neck  of a great  sage  doing penance

The son of sage  who felt pain  gave a curse

 

1.18 Yezhaam naalil  thakshakande kadi yelkkum ennu saapam

Ezhayaam thanikkulla varamaakki  rajan

Mamunimaar niranjulla  gangaa  there  vannananju

Ma muneendran sri  sukanum  Rajan poojichu

 

He gave a curse  that on seventh day  he would receive bite  of Thakshaka the snake

The king  made it as a boon  to himself who was poor

He reached the shores  of Ganga  where  great sages were  crowding

The king worshipped  the  great  sage  Sukha

 

Dwitheeya  skanda-Second Canto

 

2.1 Maranaasannamai ullon  anthyathingal  smarikkanam

Marakatha  varnanaakum  Narayanane

Maamuni  paranju dhyana  vidhiyum bhagawan thande

Mahathmyavum  virat roopa varnanakalum

 

When death is about  to occur  , he who is going to die should think

Of  Narayana  who is of the colour  of Emerald

The great   sage told the rules of meditation  of the God

And the  greatness  and description and the description  of his diamond like  form

 

2.2.Yogikal yoga dharana kondu deham vittedunna

Yogangal than kramangale  varnicheedunnu

Sadhyonmukthi, karmamukthi yennivaye  vivarichu

Sathyavaanaam  Parikshithu  Rajavin munnil

 

He described  the method of yoga  by which,

Yogis  leave their body  by practice of yoga,

He described the sudden salvation and step by step  salvation

Before   the king  Parikshith   who  said the truth  only

 

2.3.Nana  vidha  karmangale, saadhikkuvaanai kondu

Nana deva  upasana cheyyunna  vidham

Saunakande  chodhyathinnu  marupadiyai  cholli

Suthan thaanum  Sri sukande  vakyathe  oarthu

 

The way  of  doing worship  of various Gods

For  getting various  types  of work done

Sutha told  as  reply  to the question  of

Saunaka, remembering   the words of Sukha

 

2.4.Srishtiye  kurichu Rajan Sukhanodu chodhichappol,

Srishti kramam  vivarikkan   sakthi  nedaanaai,

Sri suka saaswathamayi  bhagawane  sthuthi  cheithu

Sri Sukhanum   aksharamayi  minnane

 

When the  king asked  about  creation,

To get  power to describe, the steps to creation

Sri Sukha with great wisdom   prayed  to the  god

Let Sri Sukha  shine in our toungue as alphabets

 

2.5.Brahmavinodu Naradan  pala  vidha  chodhyangale

Brahma srishti hethuvai  chodhichuvallo

Thathwangal than udbhavavum, brahmandathin  nirmanavum

Thamara  sambhavan  melle  paranjuvallo

 

Did not Narada  ask  several type of Questions

About  the  creation  process  of Brahma

 The  birth of  different principles, the  creation of universe

All these  were  slowly related  by him  who was  born on lotus

 

2.6 Purusha sukthathil chollum bhagawande  divya  roopam

Poornamyi cholluvaan kazhiyilla  yennakilum

Naradande  chodhyam kettu naanmukhanum nalla poale

Narayana  sthoola roopam  varnichu  bangyaa

 

Though  it was not possible  to tell completely ,

The form of God told  in Purusha  Suktha

Hearing  the question of Narada, the four  faced one

Described well and prettily  the divine form of  Narayana

 

2.7Avathara  kadhakalil aadhyamai  cholli Brahman

AAdhi varaha  kadhaye, athyantha  bakthyaa

Avidunnu Krishnanai  avatharam  cheitha  vare

Atheeva samkshepamai paranju  Brahman

 

Among the stories of incarnation , Brahma  first  told,

The story  of Adhi Varaha   with  great  devotion

Till  the great one took  incarnation as Krishna

Brahma told  it, in greatly   summarized  form

 

2.8 Gangaa there prayopavesathe  cheitha Parikshitho

Ganga poale shudhi nalkum  , Sri Sukhanodai

Pala vidha  chodhyangale  chodhichalo, jignasuvai

Prathytharam  cheithuvalo , Vyasa  nandajan

 

Parikshith who gave  up his soul  in shores of Ganga

Asked  several type of questions  to  Sri Sukha

Who gave answers  as pure as ganges , as a curious person

And  the son of Vyasa  , he  gave  answers  to his questions

 

2.9Shuka devan nalgedunna marupadiyil kandeedaam,

Brahma  devan kandathaakum, vaikunda  lokam

Chathu slokiyai  kondu  bhagawatha thathwangale

Chathur mukhan yeki, devan chathurbahu  thaan

 

In the  replies  of God like   sage  Sukha  we can see

The Vaikunta world, which God  Brahma  had seen

With  four verse  sets, the  principles  of Bhagawatha

Were  given by  the four faced one who had  four hands

 

2.10 Sargam, visargam, sthanavum  poshanavum ,othi pinne

Manwantharam , eesaanu kadhayum nirodham

Mukthiyum  aasrayam thaanum dasa  lakshnangalennum

Parayunnu, indriyangal  thande  kramavum

 

The beginning , the shedding  , the  stable  ones  , their upkeep, he told

And also the time  measurement  , stories of God, the  stoppages

The salvation  , dependence and description  of various  periods

And also the sequence  of the   sense  organs

 

TRitheeya  skanda-Third Canto

 

3.1Theerthayathra  kazhinjethi vidhuranum oru dhinam

Theertha thulyamaakum  Yamuna  there

BHagawande  paadhukangal  sirassilai  darichoru

Bhagawath  bhagthanaam  Udhavaneyum kandu

 

One day Vidhura  reached  back after  the pilgrimage

At the  shores of Yamuna  which is equal to sacred waters

He saw Udhawa the devotee of God  who was,

Carrying  the  slippers  of  God

 

3.2Govindande karyangale , vidhuran  chodicha  neram

Gadh gadhathaal mindaanaavaathe aayi  udhavan

Bhagwande swadhagamanatheyum  choll pinne

Bhagawanaadiya  leelakaleyum  cholli

 

At the  time  when Vidhura  asked about  news of Govinda

Due  to great  emotion  , Udhava   was  not  able to speak

And then he  told   about  the  greatness  of the God

And he also  told about his sports

 

3.3.Mathurayil  mathulanam Kamsane konna kadha

Malinimaaraayavare  vettatham kadha

Manomalam theerkkanayi Bhagawatham  nalkiyathum

Maithreyannu jnangniye  nalki  yennathum

 

The story  of his killing his uncle Kamsa  in Mathura

The story of his  marrying many  pretty damsels

His  giving Bhagawatha to remove  dirt  of the mind

And how he gave  ,  fire like  knowledge  to Maithreya

 

3.4 Bhagwan paranjathu poale  Badariyilekku  jnaanum

Bakthiyode poyidunnu, paranju  udhawan

Bhagawatham labhikkuvan Maithreyane  kaanaanaayi

Bakthanaaya  vidhuran Haridwaril  yethi

 

Udhawa told , that as per words of the God ,

He  also was going to Badari,

To get  Bhagawatham  and meet  Maithreya

Vidhura   who was a devotee  reached  Mathura

 

3.5 Sukhathinnayi karmam cheyyum  manushyannu yenthu kondu

Sukam labhikkunnathilla, dukham  labhipoo

Vidhurande  chodhyam kettu, Maithreyanum  Bhakthiyode,

Viswa  srushtiye kurichu  paranjuvallo

 

Why does the man who does his work  to get pleasure

Does not get pleasure  but gets sorrow,

Hearing this question of Vidhura  , Maithreya with devotion

Told   about the  creation  of the  world

 

3.6Bhagawande  chaithanyamo,thathwanngalumai  chernnu

Athinaale  virat  roopam undaayallo,

Virat  roopathinde avayavangalil  ninnumai

Sarva  vasthukkalum  undaayi

 

The power  of god  merged  with  the philosophies

And because of that  the very huge  powerful form emerged

And  from the limbs  of that  great form

Everything  in the   world    was  made

 

3.7Easwaran srusthichathathenthe? Jeevananenthe  karma bandham?

Ithinnai  maithreyanum   nalki  utharam

Maayayaanu itharathil  thonniyathinnu  karanam,

Mayaye  jayikkan  Bakthi  unarnnidenam

 

What  did God  create? What is relation of Soul to Kama?

For this Maithreya  gave  answer,

Illusion is the  reason  for  such a feeling,

To win over illusion, devotion should  wake up.

 

3.8 Narayan naabhiyil ninnu undaayi  thaamarayum

Naan mukhano  thamarayil  ninnu  pirannu

Nalinaabjan  thapam  cheithu  patinaayiram  varshangal\

Narayanan manam thannil  minni  thudangi

 

A lotus   was born from belly button  of  Narayana

And  The four faced Brahma  was born  from that lotus

That Brahma   did penance   for ten thousand years

And  the mind of Narayana  started  shining

 

3.9 naanmukhanum sthuthichuvallo, brahmesane  bakthiyde,

Narayana namathinde  mahathmyam cholli

Thapassinaal santhushtanaai, nissangamai karmam cheyyan,

Thamara kannanum   cholli  , maranju  vegam

 

Brahma  prayed  to the God of Brahma   with devotion

He told the greatness  of the name  Narayana

The lotus  eyed  one became  happy  with the penance

And told him to work alone and he vanished

 

3.10.Thapam cheithu bhagawaane,yere kalam Brahma  devan

Thamaraye  pathinnalu  lokam aakki,

Pathu tharam srushti cheithu, jeevande  prabdham poale

Padmaja sambhavanaakum, naan mukhan thaanum

 

God Brahma  did  penance  to  God for a long time

He made lotus in to  fourteen worlds

The four faced   one   who  was created by  Lord Vishnu

Made ten types of creation, according to fate of the being

 

3.11.Kaalathe varnikkunnu Maithreyanum  anantharam,

Manushyar, Pithrukkal pinne, deva  janangal,

Brahmavinde  aayussinne  kurichum paranjidunnu.

Kala chakram Bhagawande  sudarsanam thaan

 

Later  Maithreya  described  about time

Human beings, manes   , devas

He also told about life span of Brahma

The wheel of time is only God’s Sudarsana

 

3.12Ajnanathin srushtiyaale maduthallo  brahma devan

Jnanikalaam sanakaadhikalum  pirannu

Rudranundaayi , Saraswathi, vedangalum , Vedangangalum

Manu, satha  roopa  pinne  thath   santhaanangal

 

Brahma got bored of the creation with  ignorance

The  wise  sanaka  and others  were  born

Rudra  , Saraswathi, Veda   and Vedangas  were  created

Hearing  the question about  Varaha   by Vidhura,

He told the story of Hiranya  the enemy  of Varaha

Kashyapa  becoming angry  with passion of Dithi,

Cursed her  , you will get  evil  children

 

3.15Nooru varsham Dithi devi  Garbhathe darichuvallo,

Neerum deva manassinnu santhiyai  Brahman

Sanakadhi saapathaale  asuraraayi  maariyathaam

Jaya vijayanmaarallo  Dithi  Garbhathil

 

Dithi  carried  her pregnancy  for  hundred years

For giving peace to the  burning mind of devas, Brahma

By the curse  of Sanaka  and  others, Jaya  and Vijaya

Were  changed  to Asuras  in Dithi’s  pregnancy

 

3.16 Sanakadhi saapathine  BHagawaanum  pinthunachu

Sakalathum nasipikkan ponna  tharathil

Dithiyude  garbhathingal valarnnu valarnnu  vannu,

Daitheyanmaaraam  Hiranynmaar  dhivasam thorum

 

God  supported  the curse  of Sanaka  and other sages

In a way to  destroy   everything

In the womb of Dithi, grew   The  asura twins,

Called Hiranyas day  by day

 

3.17Pala tharam durnimitham niranjoru  samayathu

Padu  koothanmaarai    randu  perum  janichu

Brahmavinde  varam nedi Hianyakshan lokangale

Thande  keezhilaakki  mudhaa  bharichidave

 

 At the  time which was  full of bad omens

Both people   who were  very huge were  born,

Hirnayaksha  getting the boon  of Lord Brahma

Brought all  worlds under him and ruled them with joy

 

3.18 Varunande vaakku kettu, Narayananeyum thedi

Varunnathaam Hiranyane  Naradan kandu

Varahammai ninneedunna bhagawanumayi  daithyan

Vaal uyarthi  pala vidha  yudham thudangi

 

Narada saw  Hiranya  who was   coming  in search,

Lord Narayana  , hearing the words  of Varuna,

That  Asura  lifted his  sword  and started   ,

Several types of war with God who was  standing as varaha(boar)

 

3.19kamalabjan  sthuthichappol, kadakshichu varahavum

Kaal uyarthi  thozhichallo, daithya rajane

Asurande  mayakale  illathaakki Mayaatheethan

Asurano raktham  thuppi  marichu  veenu

 

When Brahma prayed, Varaha  looked at him with pleasure

Lifted its leg and kicked   that king  of  Asuras

That God who was above illusion, destroyed  the llusions  of Asura

And  the Asura  spitting blood  fell down dying

 

3.20 Brahma devan srushtichathaam  rakshassukalil ninnayi,

Raksha nedi , Bhagawande  anugrahathaal

Gandharvanmaar, Apsarass, Sidha , Charanaadhikale

Saadhyanmare srishtichuvallo  Brahmavu   thaanum

 

Brahma   got saved from the  Rakshasas he created

Due  to the  blessings   of the  God,

Gandharwas, Apasaras. Sidhas , Charanas,

Sadhyas  etc were then created by Brahma

 

3.21Manuvinde vamsathe  varnikkunnu  maithreyanum

Manu puthri, Deva hoothi thande kadhaye,

Brahma puthran Kardhamanum , pala kalam thapam cheithu

Brahmesanaam BHagawaanum prathyakshamaayi

 

Maithreya started description  of the  clan of Manu

The story  of Deva Hoothi  , the daughter of Manu,

Kardhama the son of Brahma , who did penance  for several years

And  The god who is God of Brahma  came  before him

 

3.22Kardhama aasramathil yethi Manuvum, satha  roopayum

Kalyana praayamethiya makaldoppam

Deva hoothiyeyum muni bharyayayi  sweekarichu

Deva devan  thande dhiva janmam kothichu

 

Manu  and Satha  roopa reached  the hermitage  of Kardhama

Along with  a daughter  who has reached marriageable age

The sage accepted  Deva  hoothi   as his wife

The God of gods wanted to be born as divine  birth

 

3.23  Yere kalamBakthiyode barthru pooja  cheithu devi,

Yethi sarva gunamolum  vimanam onnu,

Devodhyanangalilaai ramichu  nadannavar

Devi  janmam nalki nava  puthrimaareyum

 

For a long time  She   did   worship of her  husband

An  airplane   which had  all good aspects , reached them

They enjoyed wandering in gardens  of devas

And she  gave  birth to  nine  daughters

 

3.24 Devahuthi puthranai  kapilan yennulla  peril

Deva devan avatharam  chetha  nerathil

Mareechyaadhi munikalkku puthrimaare  nalki muni

Makanodu  yaathra cholli  vanathil poyi

 

The God of Gods   took incarnation  as he son,

Of Devahuthi  and  at that time

The sage gave his daughters in marriage  to Mareecha  and other sages

And he took leave from his son  and went  to forest

 

3.25Narakathil ninnum raksha neduvaanaai  yenthu venam

Naranai pirannoru  makane  chollu,

Manassine  ,easwaranumai  cherthaal mokshamallo,

Vishayavumai  cherthaal  naraka thulyam

 

To get  freedom from hell, what should be done,

Only son who is born as  human can tell,

If we  merge our mind with god  , it is salvation,

If we  merge  with worldly things  , it is equal  to hell

 

3.26 Saankhya matha  prakaaramo , thathwamo , irupathi anchu

Yivayude  sammelanam prapanchamellam,

Ithil devan, chaithanyathe  cherthu vechu yennariyu,

Aathmaavine arinjeedil anandam nedaam

 

As per the sankhya philosophy  , there were  twenty five  principles

The merging of  all these  is the entire  universe

Know that in this  God has  merged  his divine power

If you know the soul, we will get  joy

 

3.27. Jeevan orikkal polume samsaarathil  dukhamilla

Deham aanu jnan yennathu maaya  thaan allo,

Jnana  yogathinaal  bakthi swabhavikamaayi maarum

Karmamellam easwarannayi  samarppikkuga

 

To the being   there is no sorrow    in this life,

The thought that  “I am the body”  is an illusion

By Jnana  yoga   , devotion will  change naturally

Offer  all that you   do , to the  God

 

3.28 Yama niyamaasanavum   praanaayaamam  prathyaahaaram

Dharanayum   dhyanavum  nal  Samadhi  thaanum

Dhyana yogam seelichidil aathma labham  sidhikkunnu

Samadhi thaan  athyanthika jeevan  mukthathwam

 

The role of Yama  and Niyama  , The pranayaama , the withdrwal,

Assumption  , meditation   and Samadhi

And   if you practice  Dhyana yoga , you will get profit to soul

Samadhi   is the  great  freedom to the soul

 

3.29Bakthi yogam varnikkunnu   kapilanum  anantharam,

Swabhavathin hethuvai bakthi naalallo

Thamasavum, rajasavum  saathvekavum  , nirgunavum

Bakthi  illathavan   yennum  kashta  pedunnu

 

Later  Kapila  described   the Bakthi yoga

AS  per the cause  of our conduct  there  are  four types of Bakthi,

The dark  , the regal, the soft  and characterless

The one  who does not have  devotion   always   suffers

 

3.30 BHagawande  naamangalil sakthiyillathathaam  jeevan

Bharya, puthra, gehadhikalil  bhramichidunnu

Bakthiyilla  janangalo marikkum  samayam yama-

Bhatanmaaraal pala   vidha  siksha  yelkunnu

 

The  being who does not have interest in names  of the god

Is greatly attracted by the wife  , son and home

The people  who  do not have devotion, at the time,

Of death undergo various punishments by  soldiers  of Yama

 

3.31Purushande  rethassinaal mathru garbham thedum jeevan,

Pidayunnu  mala , moothra visarjyangalil

Avasanam janikkunnu, marikkunnu  veendum veendum

Deva hoothiyodu cholli Kapila moorthi

 

The being searching pregnancy ,  by the sperm of man,

At the time of stool and urination they  greatly struggle

At the end the are born, then die again and  again,

The sage Kapila  told his mother  Deva hoothi

 

3.32Bakthiyil mohamillatha  vishayaasakthanaam janam

Punya  karmam  cheitheedilum dukhichidunnu

Prema  bakthi unarneedil , jnana vairaghyangal  venam

Bakthikku  thaazheyaanallo  mukthi  polume

The people  who do not  have interest in Bakthi  but are attached to pleasures,

Even if they do blessed activities,  they are sad

If the devotion of love awakes  then wisdom  and detachment  should be there

Even salvation   is  below  devotion

 

3.33  Puthranaaya  Kapilande   vaakku  ketta  deva hoothi

Padhathingal veenu  melle  sthuthi thudangi

Sidhyaaya ammayodu yaathra  cholli  kapilanum

Sidhanmaarum othu  pathalathilekku  poyi 

 

DEvahoothi who heard  the words  of her son Kapila

Fell at his feet and   started  praying  to him

Kapila took  leave  of his mother  who was saint

And went  to Patala  , along with other saints

 

Chathurtha  Skandam-Fourth Canto

 

4.1 DEvahoothi kadha cholli , maithreyanum  aakuthi than,

Puthranaai yajnan  piranna  kadha  cholli

Prasoothiye  dakshan vettu , makalaakum  sathiyeyo,

Shivan pathiyaakki, dakshan kopishtanaaii

 

Maithreya  told  the story of Devahuthi   and told

The  story of Yajnan (an incarnation) being born to SAkthi ,

Daksha  married  Prasoothi   and his daughter  SAthi,

Was made  as wife by Lord Shiva and Daksha became angry

 

4.2.Dakshanum Shivanum nthammil vairam undayathu  , yenthino?

Daksha darpam  saapamayi  maariyathu  yenthe?

Vidhurande vaakku kettu, Kadha  cholli  , Maithreyanum

Deva sathram  saapangalaal  kalushithamaayi

 

Why an enmity sprung between Shiva and daksha?

How come  the  fire sacrifice  of Daksha turned  in to a curse?

Hearing these  words of Vidhura, Maithreya  told  stories,

The  yaga   of devas  became dirty  due to curses

 

4.3.Bhagawane apamaanichidanaai  , dakshan pinne,

Brahaspathi  savam yenna   yagam thudangi,

Kshamilla yaagathinnu, pokunnathu  budhiyalla,

Shivan cholli, pakshe  sathi  yaathrayayee

 

Later  DAksha   for purpose  of insulting  the God,

Started  a fire sacrifice called  Brihaspathi savam

There  was no invitation and going  is not wise

Shiva told  , But  sathi   started  for  attending

 

4.4Yagathinnai purapettu, Kala puram yeri devi

Yathingal Rudra bhagam kandathum illa

Kopishtayaai  sathi, pinne  yaagagniyil thande deham,

Jwalippichu  , bhootha ganam  pagachu poi

 

She started to the yaga and got  up the bull,

In Yaga no share  was given  to Rudra(Shiva)

Getting angry  , she sacrificed  her  body in fire of

The Yaga  and   The bhootha ganas   were  perplexed

 

4.5Sathiyude  deha thyagam arinjoru, Mahesanum

Athi kopamundai , Veera  badhran  pirannu

Shiva  soolam kayyil yenthi saalayilaai  yethiyavan,

Dakshan thande  sirassine aghniyil ittu

 

Lord Shiva knowing about self sacrifice  of Sathi ,

Became very angry  , Veerabhadra  was born out  of that anger

Holding the trident of Shiva in his hand, he reached  the place of Yaga

He put  the head  of Daksha   in to the  fire

 

4.6.Amaranmaar Kailasathil yethi chernnu, devan cholli

Aattin thala cherthu vakku, daksha kandathil,

Yagathil seshichathellam, Rudra  bhagamai maari,

Yaga salayil yethinaar  deva  samooham

 

Deva group reached  Kailasa , God told them,

Fix the head  of goat   in the neck of daksha

Whatever  was remaining in yaga, became Rudra’s share

The  deva group reached  the place of yaga

 

4.7 Aadin thala vecha  Dakshan  venda poale  Sthuthichuvallo,

AAthma roopan Maha  Vishnu  prathyakshanaayi,

Hariyum Haranum onnu thanne, devan paranjallo,

Himalaya puthriyai  sathi  pirannu

 

DAksha who had  goat’s head  prayed  him   a lot

Maha Vishnu, the form of soul   Came  before him

The God Said  , Shiva  and Vishnu  are  same

SAthi was  born  as daughter  of  Himalayas

 

4.8Uthanapadhande  puthran dRuvan mohichallo, pithru

Madiyil kayaraan, Randanamma saasichu

Naradande  upadesam  , vasudeva  padhangalil,

Achanchala  bakthiyai niranju  ninnu

 

Druva   the  son of Uthanapadha   wanted  to climb,

On the lap of his father  , The step  mother  did not agree

According to the   words of  Narada , he stood  with

Stable  devotion on the feet  of  Lord Vishnu

 

4.9 Thande munnil minnedunna  Vasudeva  padangalil,

Thaanu veenu thozhuthallo Druva  kumaran

Varam nedi,Rajyam nedi, anju vayassulla  Balan

Bhagawande  priyapetta  bakthanai  maari

 

On the shining  feet  of Vasudeva ,which were  in  front of him,

The boy  DRuva bent  , fell and  saluted,

That five year old boy got boons as well as kingdom,

And changed  himself as the  pet  devotee  of the God

 

4.10Druvan thande  vamsatheyum, bharanathin  keerthiyeyum

Varnichallo  Maithreyanum Venda  poalave,

Sodaranaam Uthamane  Yakshanmaar  vadhichuvallo

Yakshanmaarumai   yudham cheithu  Druvanum

 

Maithreya   described  in detail  about  clan of Dhruva

As well  as  the  fame  of  his  great  rule

His brother  Uthama  was killed  by Yakshas,

Dhruva  waged   a war   against   the Yakshas

 

4.11Narayanasthram thannude sakthiyaale yakshanmaaro,

Naanam kettu  , chilarellam marichu veenu

Swayambhuva manuvinde  upadesam sweekarichu,

SWayam yudham  nirthiyallo  Druva  kumaran

 

Due to the  power  of Narayanastra The Yakshas  ,

Became ashamed  and some  of them died

Agreeing   to the the advice  of  Swayambuva  Manu

Dhruva   stopped  the war  himself

 

4.12Vaisravanan varam nalkan thayyaraayi

Varamayi  sweekarichu Suneethi puthran

Vishnu dhoothar  kondu vanna  vimanathileri Druvan

Vishnu padhamaaya  Druva  Padathilethi

 

Vaisravana(Khubera)   was ready  to give a boon,

The son of Suneethi   was prepared to take it as boon,

Dhruva got in to the plane  that was  brought by Vishnu’s emissaries

He reached  the place  of Druva which was  the place  of Vishnu

 

4.13.Anga rajan puthran ilaa dukhathaale  yagnam  Cheithu

Athi dushtan Venan puthranaai  pirannu

Avanude dush karmathaal vairaghyathe  nedi rajan

Aarum ariyathe  kaattilekku  poyi

 

The Anga king performed a yaga  due to sorrow  of not having a son,

An extremely  evil  Vena   was born as his son

Due to his very bad behavior the king  became detached

Without  any one  knowing   he  went to forest

 

4.14 Rajavinde thirodhanam arajakathwamayi  maari

Rajanaayi Venan  thaanum abhishikthanai

Nireeswara vadhi  venan , munimaaraal  mruthanaayi

Vena  deham kadanjappol nishadan undaayi

 

The  disappearance  of king lead  to calamity

Vena got himself anointed as the  king

The  Atheist  Vena died by sages

When they   churned  the body of Vena , Nishadha  came out

 

4.15 Valam kayyu kadanjappol, devamsamaayi  Pradhuvundaai

Sthree  roopathilLakshmi devi ,Archissumayi

Deva  janam ivarkkayi pala  sammanavum  nalki

Chakravarthiyai Pradhu abhishikthanaayi

 

When they  churned the  right hand Pradhu  who is part of devas  was born

Goddess Lakshmi  in the form of a lady   became Archissu

The deva people gave  them  various  gifts

Pradhu  was anointed   as the emperor

 

4,16  Pradhuvine sthuthichoru sootha magadanmaareyum

Vilakkinaan  Venda tharathil  Chakravarthi

Avarellam  sthuthikale  aaservadangalaai  maathri

Pradhuuvinnu   avayellam   anugrahamaayi

 

The emperor did not permit  properly

Sootha magadhas  who  prayed  to Pradhu

All of them changed  the prayers  in to blessings

To Pradhu  all of them  became  blessings

 

4.17 Bhomi devi aiswaryangal pidichu  vechirikkunnu

Bhoopathi  nee mathram jnangalkku  yeka  rakshakan

Prajakal  than vaakku kettu, aayudha dhariyai  maari

Pradhuvine  thedi yethi bhoomi  pasuvai

 

Goddess  Bhomi  had   kept  treasures  in her custody

Oh king you only   are  our protector

Hearing words of citizens, He changed  as one who is armed

The earth   came in search  of him  as a cow

 

4.18 Go roopini  kaalil veenu, pradhuvo  saanthanumaayi

Prajakalkku vendathellam , nalkinaal  bhoomi

Go roopathil ninnu yeduthu aavasyamullathellame

Pasu kuttikalaam varga pradhanikalum

 

She who had the form of cow  , fell at his feet , Pradhu  became  peaceful

Whatever  was needed  by the people  was given by earth

They took whatever they  needed  from  the  form of cow

The  children of  the  cow,  all  became chiefs  of groups

 

4.19 Pradhuvinde  bharanathil  bhoomi  swargam poale  aayi

Pala vidha  yagam cheithu  Raja rajanum

Pasuve  devendran mostichu, Pradhu  krudhanaayi

Padmajan paranju  , yagam nirthi  , rajanum

 

In the reign of Pradhu  earth  became  like heaven

The king of kings did various  type of Yagas

Devendra  robbed  the cow  , Pradhu  became very  angry

As per words of Brahma  , The king stopped  all yagas

 

4.20 Devendrano Rajavinde padangalil  veenu  bakthyaa

Devamsamulla  Rajano  vari  yeduthu

Deva devan prathyakshamai  Yaga bhoovil, Rajan appol

Deva kadha  ketteduvaan chevi  yaachichu

 

But Devendra fell at  the  feet of the king with devotion,

The king  who had divinity in him  Took  him by his hands

The god of gods came in person in place of Yaga, then the king

Begged  for ears  to hear  the story  of devas

 

4.21Venanaale pracharicha  nireeswara  mathangale

Venda poale illathaakkan ,Pradhu rajano

Veda saarangal yellam prabhashanam cheithu bangyaa

Veda  roopan bhagawande  mahima  paadi

 

King Pradhu  to properly   destroy  the  religion of

Atheism , which were propagated  by Vena

Gave talks about  the  summary  of Vedas in pretty manner

The one who is of the form of Veda  sang about the greatness of God

 

4.22Oru dhinam Pradhu thande  raja kottarathilekku

Orumichu vannu chernnu  sanakhadhikal

Sajjanangal aakum  avar upadesangal  nalki

Sarva sanga thyaagiyai  rajyam  bharichu

 

One day  SAnaka  and other  sages together ,

Came to the  palace  of Pradhu

They  who were  good people  gave advices

He ruled the kingdom  sacrificing  all his needs

 

4.23Jara nara badhichappol, janangale  saakshiyaakki

Rajya bharam makanneki vanathil poyi

Samadhiyil sthoola deham  upekshichu, pradhu  rajan

Sathi yanushtichu pathni  vaikundam  chernnu

 

When he became very old  , making the people as witnesses

He gave  kingship  to  his son and went  to forest

The king Pradhu  gave  up his physical body in Samadhi,

His wife  performed Sati  and reached  Vaikunta

 

4.24Pradhuvinde vamsathingal, barhishithin  puthraraayi

Prachessukal yenna  pathu per undaayi

Padinjaaru  samudhrathil, aduthaayi sarssingal

Mahesane  kandu. Rudra getham labhichu

 

In the clan  of Pradhu  , AS  sons of  Barhishith

Ten sons called  Prachethas were  born

In a lake  near  the  western sea

They saw  lord Shiva  and got “ The song of Rudra”

 

4.25  Karma kandam thannil mungi, bakthi  yogam marannoraa

Barhishithin aduthu  yethi  Narada  muni

Puranjana rajavinde, kadha paadi  maharshiyum

Nava  mukhi  yenna  raja  kottaratheyuum

 

Sage  Narada  reached to Brahichith who had ,

Forgotten devotion and  drowned  in human activities

The devarshi sang   the  story  of Puranjana

And also about palace  of  King Navamukhi

 

4.26Puranjanan naayaattinaai poya karyam arinjappol

Puanjani thaazhe veenu potti  karanju

Pala tharam phalithangal paranjum, kaal  thaalodiyum

Pathiye pathni  thande  vasathaakki

 

When she knew  that Puranjana  had gone for hunting

Puranjani  feel down and cried  bitterly

By telling many  jokes  and massaging her feet

The wife  made  her husband  on her side

 

4.27Puranjani kodukkunna  madhyathingal mayangiya

Puranjanan vardhakhyathil  pinneyum vettallo

Kala kanya yenna randaam bharyayude bharanathil

Kottarathil  puranjani othungi  koodi

 

Purnjana  who got interested  in the  alchohol  given,

By Puranjani, in the old   age  again got  married

In the rule of Kala kanya  who was his second wife

Puranjani  some how lived in the palace

 

4.28Nava mukhi thakarnnallo, puranjanan  thadavilaayi

BHaryaye chinthichu  rajan marichu poyi

Malayadwajan  thannude pathniyaayi avasaanam,

Ajnatha  suhruthu  vannu hamsangalayi

 

The  new wife  got shattered, Puranjana  was imprisoned

Thinking  of his  wife  the  king died

At the end she became  wife  of Malayadwaja

The  unknown enemy  came and became  swans

 

4.29Parikshithin samsayathil Sri Sukha rishi  paranjallo

Antharartham  jeevan thanne, puranjayanum

Kottaramo  deham  allallo, koottu karan easwaranum

Thathwathe arinja   rajan   mukthiyum nedi

 

Due to doubt  of Prakshith, Sage  Sukha told

The deep meaning  is the soul  and Puranjaya

The palace  is not the body, the friend  is God

Knowing the philosophy King got salvation

 

4.30Niravadhi varsham thapam cheitha prachethassukalo

BHagawande darsanathil santhushtaraayi

Kanvaputhri vaarkshiyeyum vivaham kazhichaar avar

Avarkku  darkshan   yenna  puthran undaayi

 

Prachethas who did penance  for several years

And they  became happy  in being able to see God

They got married  to Varkshi who  was  daughter of sage Kanva

They  got a son  called  Daksha

 

4.31Viraktharaai  pathu perum thapassinnu  kaattil yethi

Vishnu padham naaradanaal  nedi avarum

Maithreyande  padangalil  namichu, vidhuran thaanum

Hasthinapuriyilekku  melle  madangi

 

All the ten people  got detached with life, reached forest  for penance

And by Narada  they  reached  the feet of Vishnu

Vidhura  fell  at the  feet  of Maithreya

And slowly  returned  to Hasthinapuri

 

Panchama  skandam-Fifth Canto

 

5.1 Priya vritha  rajan bakthi poorvam  thapassu  anushtichu

Brahmavinde  nirdesathaal  veli kazhichu

Pathu puthranmaarum , oru puthriyum undaayi, pinne,

Virakathanaai vanathil poi  , Mukthiyum nedi

 

King Priyavritha  with  devotion carried out penance

As per suggestion of Brahma  he got married

He got ten sons   and one daughter, later

He became weaned from world  , went to forest  , got salvation

 

5.2 Mootha puthram Aagneedhan, brahmavine thapam cheithu

Apsarassaam Poorvachithi  bharya aayi,

Onpathu  puthranmaar undaai, Poorvachithikoopam Rajan

Apsara lokathilekku   madangi poi.

 

The eldest son Aagneedhan  did penance  towards Brahma,

An Apsaras  called Poorvachithi  became his wife

He had nine sons, The  king along with poorva Chithi

Returned back to world of Apsaras

 

5.3AAgneedhande  puthran Naabhi  puthra bhagyam labhikkuvaan

Yagam cheithu, Bhagawanum prathyakshanaayi

You should   see God  in everything

Sancharichu, Rishabhanum  yere kalangal

Oduvilo  kaattu theeyil swayam dagdhanai  maari

Thannodu oppam marichorkkum mukthi nalki

 

AS a saint  who did not  show his occult  powers

Rishabha travelled  around the  world  for a long  time

At the end  ,he fell  in the forest  fire  and was burnt

He saw  a small calf  of a deer  in the water,

In PLaksha  as  sun god, In Saamala  as moon god,

In Kusa  as  fire  they  exist

In Krouncha  as water, In Saaka  as wind

In pushkara the form of divine  Brama

Dhina  rathrangalkku  Hethu  Suryan Thaanallo

Manosothara  girikku chuthumayi  thiriyunna,

That those  who chant the names  loved by  Yama

Prarthichallo “Hamsa gruhyam”  yenna  manthrathaal

Prathyakshamaayi  Bhagawanum, manaseekamai poalum

Praja srushti  nadathuvaan  anugahichu

 

Daksha  of Prachethas  did  penance towards Vishnu

He prayed to him  by chant called “Hamsa Guhyam”

God  came before him , and blessed him,

To create  people  even mentally

 

6.5Thapo balam kondu Rajan, pathinonnayiram sutha-

Srushti  cheithu, avarellam  , thapaswikalayi

Ithinnu karanakkaran devarshiyam Naradane,

Athyadhika  kopathode  sapichu Dakshan

 

Due to power of his  penance, he created  eleven

Thousand sons and they all became sages

The cause   for  this was  the deva sage Narada,

With great anger Daksha  cursed  him

 

5.6.Abhja sambhavan  thannude  nirdesathaal srushti  cheithu

Arupathu  puthrimaare  pinne  Dakshan,

Avarude parambara bhoomiyaake niranjallo,

Amararkku  guruvayi  viswa roopanum

 

AS per advice  of Lord Brahma , Daksha  created

Sixty  daughters and  their clan

Filled the   entire  world,

Viswa roopa  became  Guru of devas

 

5.7 Anaadharam kaatti  Indran, sahikaatha  Vyazhacharyan

Aprathyakshanai, indran budhimuttilai

Naanmukhande  nirdesathaal, viswaroopaneyum  kandu,

Narayana  kavahathaal  vijayam nedi

 

Indra treated  him badly  , and  Brihaspathi  unable to bear it,

Disappeared, Indra  was  in trouble

By suggestion of Lord Brahma , they located  Viswa roopa

And he won due  to Narayana  Kavacha

 

5.8 Narayana kavachathin  sakthi yere mahatharam

Narayana  priyanaakum muni  paadunnu

Narayana namangalm, roopangalum, ayudhavum

Narannu  yennum rakshayai theernnidum  nrunam

 

The power   of Narayana  Kavacha  is very great

The sage who was  greatly liked  by Narayana  was singing

Names, forms and weapons  of Narayana

It will definitely  become  a protection for human beings

Amaresan vadhichallo, Brahma  hathyayi

Vrithrasuram porinethi,Vishnu  cholli  devkale

Dadeechi than yellinaale  vajram  nimikku

 

The king of devas  killed   the Guru  who gave  share,

Of Yaga  to an asuras  ,It became  Brahma hathya(sin of kiiling Brahamin)

Vrithrasura   reached  for war, Vishnu  told the devas

Make Vajra  using bones  of sage Dadeechi

 

6.10Maharshi than munnil yethi  namichu Devendran thaanum

Muthukellu labhikkuvaan   yaachichallo,

Maranam varichu Muni< muthukellal theerthu  vajram

Indran eththi  asuranmaar  bhayaakrantharaayi

 

Devendra  went before  that Maharshi and saluted him

And begged  for his  back bone

The muni chose death, They made vajra  using his backbone

Indra  reached and the asuras  became greatly  scared

 

6,11Yudham kandu ambarannu sakalarum  nokki  nilkke,

Yudha bhoovil bakthi bhavam kai kondu vrithran

Bhagwande   padangalil  samarppitha   bhavathode

Bakthi poorvam prarthikkunnu asurothaman

 

When greatly wondering every one  was  watching the battle

Virthra took the form of a devotee  in the  battle field,

The great asura   along with great devotion  was

Praying  with feeling of giving away , at the God’s  feet

 

6.12Vajram kondu marikkuvaan  thanikkilla pediyennu,

Vajradhari Indranodu Vrithran paranju

Maranam jeevitha sathyam yennu  chollum  asurane

Maranathe  nalki, indran anugrahichu

 

Vrithra told  Indra  who was   holding Vajra ,

That  he did not fear  death  by Vajra

Indra blessed   and gave  death,

To the asura  who  was telling death  is truth  of life

 

6-13  Vrithra  vadham kazhinjappol, yellavarum  santhushtarai,

Vrithrariyo Brahma hathya paapam pedichu

THamara  than thandil  irunnoru  Devendrane

THapasikal Shudharakki, aiswaryam  yeki

 

After  killing of Vrithra, every one was happy,

The killer  of Vrithra got scared  of Brahma Hathya

And  the devendra  who was hiding in lotus  stem,

Was made pure  by sage  who gave  him wealth

 

6.14,Vrithrannulla bakthikku  yenthu  hethu  yennu parayunnu

Rajavaya cHithra kethu  thande  kadha

Muni varam noolam Rajan  Chithrakethu Pithaavayi

Makano  marichu poi, karanju  rajhyam

 

The reason for the devotion of Chithra kethu  is told,

BY  king CHithrakethu   as his story

Due to boon of a  sage ,  Chithrakethu  became a father

But  the son died and the kingdom cried

Janikkunnor  marichidum yenna sathyam ariyuka

Jeevithathe  venda poale  manassilaakku

 

Sage Angeeras and Narada   consoled  the king

They told about philosophy of soul   in a proper manner

6.16Puthra jeevan thiruchu yethi cholli Dukha santhi manthram

Sathyamo , easwara prapthi maathramaanallo

Sangarshana moorthy thaanum prathyakshmai  thapassinaal

Vidhyadhara  pramaani aayi   Chithra  kethuvum

 

The soul of his son came  and told manthra to console  sorrow

The truth  is only   attaining  God

Due to penance , God Sangarshana  came before  him

Chithra Kethu  became  an important Vidhyadhara

 

6.17Oru dhinam bhagawande  mahimakal paadi  yethi

Kailasathil Shivan thande  sabha  madhyathil,

Paramesa  ninda  cheithu, Parvathiyo  sabhichallo

Chithrakethu  asuranaayi , vrithran  aayi

 

One day singing the greatness  of God, he reached

Kailasa , in middle of aseembly  of  Lord Shiva

He  abused Parameswara  and  Prvathy  cursed  him

Chithrakethu  became   the  Asura  Vrithra

 

6.18.Dithiyude puthranmaaraai maruthukkal yennullathaam

Devanmaarum janichallo, Shukanum  cholli

Dithiyude pumsavana  vrithathinnu  vighnam vannu,

Devendrande sodhararaai Dithi puthranmaar

 

Maruths  were  the sons  Of Dithi

Devas were also born to her , Sukkha  told

To the pumsavana of Dithi (ritual  during pregnancy) , there  was  some problem

Dithi’s  sons  became  the brothers of Devendra

 

6.19Vishnuvinde preethikku yere hethuvakum  pumsavana-

Vrithangale  visthraichu  Baadarayani

Sarva  kamangalum nalkum, Santhana labdhikku  uthamam

Sarveswara  bakthi  nalkum, ye kadhaa  saaram

 

The son of Vyasa  Badrayani  described the Pumsavana  ritual

Which  would be great reason for Lord Vishnu’s liking

It would fulfill all desires and is very good for birth of Children

At the time of raja sooya yaga  when  Shishupala died

One flame   merged  itself  with God

At that time  Narada  sang the story  of Hiranya

The Asura  told  , Hari  should be killed

Mandhara  parvathathil , Hiranya Kasipu

Chithal puthu moodiyaathaam asurendran thande  munnil

Chith swaroopan  Brahma devan prathyaksha  pettu

 

To win over death, A great  penance  was done

On Mandhara  mountains by  Hiranya Kasipu

Before the king of Asuras an anthill  grew and hid him

Lord Brahma with divine form  came  before him

 

7.4.Brahma devan pala vidha  varangale  nalkiyallo

Brahmesanaai thaanum yennu  karuthi Rajan

Prahladhanaam   puthrano nal  bakthanaai valarnnallo

Prathyakshamai  Bhagavaane kandu Balakan

 

God Brahma gave him  several  type of boons

The king thought , he himself is God  of Brahma

But his son Prahlaadha   grew in to a great  devotee

That boy   did see  God in front of him

Hearing the question of his father Prahladha  , told

The nine tpe of devotion  should  be heard

The king of Asuras  got tired trying to kill his son,

Prahladha  was tied  in his Teacher’s place

Achyutha padathil ulla  Bakthi  mahathwam

Naradanaal pagarnnathaam  Keerthanathin Mahathmyathe

Naavil  cherthu  bhayam  marannu  poi

 

To the asura Children  , Prahladha gave

The greatness  of devotion at  the feet of Lord Vishnu

By mixing  the  song  told by Narada  regarding,

The  greatness of devotion  , he  forgot fear

 

7.7Devendranaai bandhithanaai garbhinakum Kayaadhuvum

Naradano  mochipichu, Prhaladhan  cholli

Bakthiyode  samarpchaal, yenthum nalgum bhagavaanum

Asura  kuttikal paadi  Hari Keerthanam

 

Kayaadhu  (mother of Prahladha)  was imprisoned by Devendra

But Narada  released  her  , Prahladha  told

If we offer  with devotion, God will give  anything

The Asura children Sang  , song of Hari

 

7.8 Kopishtanaai paanjaduthu   Hiranya  Kasipu  Rajan

Thoonil aanju  adichu, Narahari  pirannu

Asurane  nigrahichu, sathya moorthiyaakum devan

Amaranmar  Bhgawane  Sthuthichuvallo

 

Greatly angered  The king Hiranya Kasipu  Rushed and

Hit with great force on the pillar, The man lion (narahari)  was born

The God who is the God of truth  killed  that Asura

The  devas  then praised  the God

 

7.9Kaalil veena prahladhane vaari yeduthu bhagawan

Kama lesamillathathaam  asura  balan

Kalpa vrikshamaakiya  Deva  karunyathe  sthuthichuvallo

Kathu ninnu  bhagawanum varangal yekaan

 

The God  picked Prahladha  who fell at his feet

The Asura boy  without even little desire

Prayed  the mercy  of God which was  a wish giving tree

The God waited    to give  him boons

 

7.10 Bakthikku  virodhamaanu kamam yennu  kandarinju,

Baktha  dasan varamonnum vaangiyathilla,

Tripura dahana  kadha paadiyallo Shukanum

Tri buvanathinum  Raksha Bhagawanallo

 

Finding and knowing  that  desire  is enemy  of devotion

The servant  of devotion did  not take  any boon

Sukha then sang the story  of burning of Tripura by Shiva

Is not God the protector  of all  the three worlds

Gunangalo manushyannu vendathanallo

Varnangal than Prathyekamam  Dharmatheyum Naradanum

The thirty  good qualities   starting with Truth.mercy,

Charity  , Patience  are needed by  all human beings

Narada  then described the special  Dhrma of

Different Varnas(work groups) in front  of Dharma  Puthra

 

7.12Varasrama dharmangale Churukki  paranja  sesham

Brahmachari Dharmangale  paranjidunnu

Vaana prasthan thande  dharmam pinneedu paranjidunnu

Vairagyam  varuvolam yee  asramam venam

 

After telling in summary  the dharmas  of different varnas

He told about dharma  of a Brahmachari (unmarried boy in search of perfection)

Later  he told about  Dharma of Vanaprastha (retired  to forest)

This  Asrama is needed  till you get  detachment  of everything

 

7.13  Sanyasi than Dharmangale Naradan paranju pinne

Sthiramai  oridathum  thamasam  venda,

Dathathreyan Prahaladanumai  nadathiya samvadam

Athineyum  Bangiyai  vivaichallo

And for them  there was no  need  to live  in one place  forever

The talk which Dathathreya  did with Prahladha

The householder Dharmaja    made a request,

You have to tell  about Dharma  of householder

They should do  their acts  but all  to be done,

Venda poale  parayunnu, Naradanum  bakthiyode

Krishna bakthi nedunnathe yellarkkum  dharmam

 

About what   all activities  had  to be done  by all those

In different varnas(work groups)  and  different  dedicated  periods

Are told   as per  their need  by  Narada   with devotion,

The dharma  for every one is getting devotion to Krishna

8.1Manvanthara  varnanakal nadathunnu  Sri Sukha Rishi

Manu  thapam cheithu, thushtanaai  Bhagawan

Yajnan yenna peril  yethi Dharmathe   rakshichu devan

Thamasathil  kari raksha  cheithu  Hariyum

 

Sage sukha   then described the period of rules by Manus

Manu did penance and God   became  satisfied

God came  in the name of Yajna  and  protected Dharma

Hari also  did  protection  of elephants in dark time

 

8.2 Trikuta  parvaththile udhyanathl VaaNirunnu

Gajendranum niravadhi aanakalkku oppam

Daham theerkkan thadakathil  irangiya Gajendrande

Kaalil  pidi kodiyallo  Mudhala  thaanum

 

In   a garden of  Trikoota mountain lived,

Gajendra(king of elephants) along with many  elephants

When Gajendra  got down in a lake,   to quench his  thurst,

A crocodile  caught  his  feet

 

8.3 Varijappo parichu aaradhichu  Gajenddranum

Veda thulyamaaya dhivya stotrangalale

Veda roopan Bhagawano odi yethi, muthalaye

Vadhichallo, Gajendrannu nalgi saaroopyam

 

Gajendra worshipped picking  lotus flowers

With prayers equivalent  to Vedas

The god who has form of Vedas reached

And killed the crocodile, And gave Gajendra similar form

 

8.4Pandyarajan Indra dhymnan, Agsthyande saapathaale

Aanayaayi maariyathaam kadhayum  cholli

Randu thaarkshyanmaarileri vaanilekku  uyarave

Kondal varnan phala sruthi paranjallo

 

Indra Dhyumna  the Pandhya  king , due to curse  of Agasthya

Changed in to an elephant  , he told this story,

Climbing on two snakes  when he rose to the sky

He who is of the colour of the cloud  told effect  of recitation

 

8.5Raivathathil vaikundanaayi chaaksushathil Ajithanai

Palazhi madhanam cheyye  koormamai,

Durvasassin saapathaale, Aiswaryam  nashta  pettathaam

Devanmaaro  Bhagawane  sthuthichuvallo

 

During time of Raivatha Manu  as Vaikunta  , During time of Chakshusha Manu  as  Ajitha

When the  milk ocean was  churned  he became  Turtle

Due to curse  of Durvasa, when all prosperity  was lost

The  devas  prayed  God

 

8,6BHagawano prathyakshamai  devanmaarodu  yevam  cholli

Daithyarodu othu chernnu pravarthikkenam

Bali  thande  munnil yethi ,Aavasyam paranja  neram,

Sammathichu mandharathe  uyarthi avar

 

God came  before  them   and told the devas

You should join with Rakshasa   and act

They reached  before Bali and informed him of the need

He agreed   and they lifted  the Mandhara  mountain

 

8.7.Mandarathe   vaasukiyaal  chuthi kondu, paalaazhiyil

Madhanthe  thudangiya  samayam thannil

Mandharam kadalil  thaanu, Bhagawano kormamayi

Maha devan visha panam  cheithu , bhagyamayi

 

After  tying Mandhara  by Vasuki snake ,When they

Started churning ocean of milk, the  mountain went down

Then the god  became  a turtle  to support it,

And  Lord Shiva   drank the  poison.it became lucky

 

8.8 Kamadhenu, kuthirayum , Airavatham  , apsarassum

Oduvilaai Vishnu  pathni Lakshmiyum yethi

Vaaruniye   Madhyavumai Daithyanmaar  thatti yeduthu

Amruthavum  kondu poi daithya samooham

 

Kamadhenu  , the horse  , Airawatha, Apsaras

And at last   Lakshmi  the wife  of Vishnu  came out

The daithyas  snatched Varuni(Spiritual liquor) as  Alcohol

And  the asura group went away  with Amritham(nectar)

 

8.9 Mohiniyai Bhagawananum, asuraro mohitharaayi

Amritha kalasam  devan swantham  aakkinaan

Asuranmaarkku kodutheela, amruthathe deva devan

Hari smrithi  sarva papa  moksham nalgunnu

 

God  became  Mohini, the asuras  were  charmed

The God made the pot of nectar  as his

He did not give  Amrutha   to  the Asuras

The thinking about Hari(God)  relieves  you from all sins

 

8.10 Asuranmaar  deshya pettu, yudhathinnai  purapettu

Deva janam aadhyam okke  pidichu  ninnu

DAithya janam maayayaale AAkramanam  thudarappol

Maayaatheethan  devan yethi, vijayam  nalgi

 

Asuras  became angry   and started the war

The  Deva people  stood  well  in the beginning

When The asuras  started war with illusion and continued

God  who is above  illusion reached  and they  got victory

 

8.11Indran than vajramethu  Mahabali  marichallo,

Shukracharyaar  Baliyeyum jeevippichallo

Devanmarkku  nashta petta swargatheyum labhichallo

Baliyo  asurar  othu  madangi poi

 

Being hit by  Vajra  of Indra  , Mahabali  died

Sage Shukra  brought  Bali  to life

Devas  got back the heaven  they had lost

Bali returned  back  with asuras

 

8.12Mohini than roopam kaanaan Mohamundaayi Mahesanum

Vaikundathi yethi  devan karyam paranju

Madhavande sthree  roopathil  aakrushtanaaui  Mahadevan

Hari hara  sangamathil vedhi  unarnnu

 

Lord Shiva  wanted  to see   the Form of Mohini

He reached  Vaikunta   and told about his wish

Lord Shiva  was greatly attracted  to the  form of Mohini

In the merger of Vishnu and Shiva , the wise men got up

 

8.13 Sradha devan mudhalulla  manukkale  cholli , pinne

Varaanulla yezhu manwantharngaleyum

Yezhaam manwantharthilo    Vamananaai  Bhagwanum

Baliyude  munnil yethi  mannu  yachichu

 

He told about  the manus starting   from Sradha deva

And also about  the time of seven future  Manus

In the seventh manu’s period  God  became  Vamana

And reached before Bali   and  requested  for land

 

8.14 Manukkale  sakshiyaakki, prapanchathin bharanathe

Manoharamaai bhavan  nadatheedunnu

Rajakkanmaar oroninnum  jolikkare  yelppikkum pol

Deva devan prapanchathe   bharichidunnu

 

Making  Manus as witness, the rule  of the universe

You are  managing  very prettily

He used to entrust  servants  to each king it seems

The God of gods ruled  the universe

 

8.15Guruvinde anugraham  nediyathaam  Mahabali

Swarlokathe  akramichu  vijayam  nedi

Sukathil  mathi maranna  devanmaarku thirichoru

Akramanam  nadathuvaan  Kazhinjilla

 

Mahabali  who got  the blessings of his Guru

Attacked Swarga loka  and  won

Devas  who had  forgotten themselves  in pleasure

Could not wage   a conquest

 

8.16Puthra dukham kanda  deva mathaavaam Adhithiyo,

Pathiyaakum  Kasyapane kandu  karanju

Payo vritham Anushtikka , venda  poale  yengil Priye,

Padmanabhan rakshichidum samsayam venda

 

Mother  ADhithi  who saw  the sorrow  of her sons

Saw her husband  Kashyapa   and cried

You observe Payovritha(Living only on milk) as per norms,   darling

Lord  Padmanabha would save us, do not have any doubt

 

8.17Pathiyude  upadesham sweekarichu Adhithiyum,

Prathyakshanai,  aaswasathin  vakku  paranju

Vaikidathe  thava  puthranai jnaanum  pirannidum

Vaikunda nadhano cholli, melle  maranju

 

ADhithi accepted  the advice  of her  husband,

Lord came before  her  , he consoled  and told

Without delay  , I will be born   as  your son

The  Lord of Vaikunda told and slowly  disappeared

 

8.18Chinga maasam Thiruonam, Vijaya dasami  naalil

Adithi than puthranai BHagawan pirannu

Upanayanam nadathi, Agni pooja chaithu devan

Bali thande yaga saala  nokki  nadannu

 

On THiruonam(SRavana) day  of chinga masam (August-september), on the  Vijaya dasami day

God was  born as the son of Adhithi

They carried out sacred thread  ceremony,The god did worship of fire

And he walked  towards   the  Yaga hall  of MahaBali

 

8-19  Baliye  pugazhthi devan moonu adi mannu chodhichu

Bali  athu ketta  neram potti chirichu

Balavaanaaya Vishnu thanne  vamananaayi  ,

Baliyodu  Guru vakhyam Sukarnum  cholli

 

He praised Bali and asked for three feet earth

Hearing that Bali  laughed loudly

Shukra  told teachers  advice  to Bali

That  one  who has come as Vamana is the strong Vishnu

 

8.20  Guruvinde vaakku ketta Bali, cholli  sathyathe jnaan

Bauthikamaam sukhathinu  vendi  thyajikkukayilla

Vamanande kaal kazhuki, moonadi  mannine  nalki

Vamanano  vaanolamaayi uyarnnu  pongi

 

Hearing  the words of his teacher Bali  Told

For sake of physical comfort, I would not go against truth

He washed feet  of  Vamana   and gave three  feet  earth

Vamana grew  up to the sky  and rose  up

 

8.21  Trivikrama paadham thatti, Brahmandavum  thakarnnallo

TRihuvana paavaniyaam Gangayum  uyarnnu

Randadiyaal sakalathum arannu yeduthallo devan

Mahabali garudanaal bandithnayi

 

Being hit by feet of Trivikrama, even Universe  was  shattered

Ganga  who purifies  all the  three  worlds  woke up

The god measured  everything by  his two feet

Mahabali  was tied down by Garuda

 

8,22Moonnamathe  adikkai Vamanan  kaalu  uyarthave

Moonaam padham sirassil  vahichu Bali

Mooloka nadhanaam devan Prasamsichu Baliyeyum

Suthalathil  vaazhuvaanaai  anugrahichu

 

For the third feet   , Vamana  lifted his leg

Bali received  the third feet on his head

The God who is the lord of three worlds praised  Bali

And blessed  him to live in a  good world

 

8.23Surendranaam bhagawane sthuthichallo Prahladhanum,

Suthalithilekku  poyi Baliyodu oppam

Pithru  deva preethikkai Vamanande  yee carithram

Paadeeduka yennu  phala sruthiyum cholli

 

God who is the lord of devas  was prayed to by Prahladha  also

He  went along with Bali   to  the  good world

For making pithru devas pleased  , this story of Vamana

Should be sung , he told about  the  use  of this story

 

8.24  Sathyavrithan thande  kayyil thilangiya mathsyam onnu

Sathya roopan devanaayi  kadalil  yethi

Pralayathil  bhoomiyaakum thoniyil yeriya rajan

Hayagreeva  sathruvine  sthuthichuvallo

 

Sathyavritha  , with a fish shining  in his hand

Reached the ocean as  Deva  Sathyavritha

The king who  got up in the boat  of earth during deluge

Prayed the God   who  was  enemy  oh Hayagreeva

9,1  Vaivaswatha Manuvinde puthriyaakum Ila pandu

Vasishtanaal purushanai Sudhyumnanaayi

Vamadeva  saapathaale Vanithayayi maari, Budhan

Vivaham kazhichu,puru  puthranaayi

 

Long back, Ila the  daughter   of Vaivaswatha Manu

Became a male called Sudhyumna  by curse  of sage  Vasishta

By curse  of Vamadeva he changed to a girl, Planet Budha

Married  her  and she had  a son called  Puru

 

9.2.Sradha devan santhathyartham, bhagawane  thapam cheithu

Ikshuvaku, nrugan, saryaathi, Dhishtan, dhyashtanum

Yi tharathil pathu pereputhranmaaraai  labhichallo

Vaisrwana  uthpathiyum Paranju pinne

 

Sradha deva did pence to   god  to get  children.

He got  ten sons   who were Ikshuvaku, nrugan,

Saryaathi, Dhishtan, dhyashtanum and others

Later  it was told  about how  Vaisravana was born

 

9.3SAryathithan koode  kaattil poyi  sukanyayaam puthri

Chyavanande  Kannu poi, sukanyayaale

Chyavanande bharya aayi Sukanyayum, Chyavanannu

Labhichu yovanam aswani  kadakshathaal

 

Sukanya  the  daughter  of Saryathi  went in to forest

Due to Sukanya , Chyavana lost his eye

Sukanya became  wife  of Chyavana  Due to Aswani devas

Seeing him,   Chyayavana  got back  his youth

 

9.4 Bakthanaam Ambareeshannu, Vishnu  nalki  sudarsanam

Durwasasu  vannu  chernnu  dwadasi  naalil

Kopishtanaaya  muni thanum ,Sudarsanam paanju aduthu

Brahma Vishnu Mahesan kayyozhinjallo

 

Lord Vishnu  gave  Sudarasana  to his devotee  Ambareesha

Sage Durwasa  came  to him on Dwadasi   day,

The sage  became  very angry, Sudarsana rushed near him

Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva  , said they cannot do anything.

 

9.5.Peedithanaam muni thanum  Kaalkkal  veenu  Rajavinde

Sudarsanam pin valinju  Baktha  ichayaale

Ambaresha Bakthi kandu   , Muni  yere  aascharyan   aayi

Ananyanaam  Bakthi mathrukayayi   Rajanum

 

The sage who was  in trouble , fell at the  feet of the king

Due to desire of the devotee, Sudarsana  went back

Seeing  the devotion of Ambareesha, sage became  very surprised

The king became a model of very unique  devotion

 

9.6.BHaryakkai thayyar cheitha  manthra  jalam kudichathaam

Yuvanaaswan prasavichu  Mandatha  undaayi

Mandathavin puthrimaare, maharshiyaam Saubhariyo

Manohara  roopam kaatti  vivaham  cheithu

 

King Yuvanaswa   drank the   Manthra water,

Which was prepared for his  wife, he got a son Mandatha

The great sage  Saubhari  married  the daughters,

Of  king Mandatha showing his  very pretty form

 

9.7.Trisankhuvin kadhakoppam, sathya sandhan aayeedunna

Harischandran  Kadha  paranju  Sukhan

Yagathingal pasuvai kalpichoro Sunasephan

Viswamithra  karunyathaal Raksha pettello

 

Along with story  of Trisankhu , Sukha  also told

The story  of Harischandra who only spoke truth

Susepha  who was  considered as the  Cow to be sacrificed  in Yaga

Due  to the mercy  of Viswamithra  got saved

 

9.8.Sagaranaam chakravarthi, thande  makkal pathinaayiram

Asamanjasan yennulla  mathoru  puthran

Kapilande  krodhagniyil chamballayi Pathayiram,

Pouthranaakum  Amsumaano Kaaryam  arinju

 

The  emperor   Sagara  had  ten thousand sons

And  he had  another  son  called Asamanjas

All the ten thousand people became ash in Kapila’s anger

The grand son Amsuman came to know of this

 

9.9Poorveekarkku  gathi kittan  Ganga devi kaniyenam

Bhageeradhan Gangayeyum bhoovil  yethichu

Sudaasande  kadha paadi, saapathinde karanavum

Vasishtanaal vamsatheyum nila  nirthaan

 

For getting salvation   to his  ancestors, river Ganges  had to take mercy

Bageeradha made the  river  Ganges  reach  the earth

He sang the   story  of Sudasa , the reason  for  his curse

And how  Vasishta  managed  to  make the family live

 

9.10 Ramayana  kadha paadi, parikshin munnil Muni

Ravanane  nigrahicha  adbutha  Kadha

Ramanethi Nandi grame, Bharathano  sweekarichu

Raman thande  abhishekam nadathi mudhaa

 

Before Parikshith , the king sang the  story of Rama

The wonderful story  of the killing  of Ravana

Rama reached  Nandi grama, Bharatha received him

With joy they performed  carnation of Rama

 

9.11Praja dharmam paalichidaan, Pathniyeyum  Ramachandran

Vanathil  upekshichu, Valmiki  rakshichu

Sita puthranmaar undaayi, Sitha  anthardhanam cheithu,

Seethapathi  sarayuvil layichu  chernnu

 

For  observing Dharma of Citizens, Ramachandra  left,

His  wife  in the  forest, Valmiki  saved her,

Sons  were  born to Sita  , SIta  vanished

The husband of Sita merged himself  in Sarayu river

 

9.12Rama puthram Kusan thande vamsathyum  varnichallo

Yee vamsathil  Maru  yenna Rajavundaai

Innum Maru  Badariyil, thapassu  cheitheedunnallo

Sathya yugam  yiddehathaal  thudangum allo

 

The clan of Kusa  the son   of Rama  is also described

In this clan   there  was  a king called  Maru

This Maru  even today  is doing penance  in Badari,

The Sathya  yuga  will  be started  by him

 

9.13.Janaka  rajanmaareude uthpathiye  parayunnu

Vasishta saapathaal nimi  videhanaayi

Nimiyude dehatheyum kadanjallo manthra poorvam

KUmaran undaayappol Mithilayaayi

 

The  birth of Janaka  kings is told

Due to curse  of Vasishta Nimi  became , one without body

Nimi’s  body   was churned  with chanting of manthras,

When son was born  it became Mithila

 

9.14Brhaspathi than Bharya tharayil Chandranundaayi

Budhan yennu peru ketta  deva  kumaran

Budha  puthan Pururuvassine  mohichallo deva-

Sundariyaam urvasiyum, Kadha  prasidham

 

To Chandra in the wife   of Brihaspathi Tara was born,

The famous son of devas  whose  name  was Budha

The pretty  deva maiden Urvasi  loved

Pururuvas   the son of Budha, the story is famous

 

9.15 Puruvinde puthranmaaril, Vijayande  vamsathilo

Jamadgni  puthranaayi  Ramanudayi

Heheyane  konnu  Raman, Brahma hathyaa  papam nedi

Pariharathinnai theertha  snanam  nadathi

 

Among  the sons of Puru ,  in   the clan of Vijaya

Rama   was born as  the son of Jamadagni

Rama killed  Hehaya  and got Brahma hathya sin,

For  getting it out , he started  bath in sacred water

 

9.16Jamadagniyeyum konnu paka veetti , Hehayanmaar

Jwalichallo kopam kondu BHargava Raman

Irupathi yettu vattam bhumi  chuthi, Kshatriyare

Onnadangam konnu  Raman thapam  thudangi

 

The Hehayas killed  Jamadagni  and avenged

The BHargava Rama  , due to anger shined

Twenty  eight  times he went round  the world

Killed  all the Kshatriyas and this Rama started penance

 

9.17Puru puthran aayiduna,ayussinde  vamsathalo,

Alarkan yennu perulla  Rajavundai

Rajiyenna puthran yeki, indran swarga  bharanathe

Raji puthran  abhichaaram  kondu marichu

 

In the clan of Ayus  who was  the son of Puru

There was a king called Alarka

Indra gave rule of heaven to his son called Raji

The son of  Raji  died due  to black magic

 

9.18 Nahusha  puthran yayaathi Devayaniyeyum  vettu

Raja puthri  sarmishtakkum pudava  nalki

Kopishtayayi Devayani Shukra saapam Yayathiye

Vridhanaaki , Puthran Puru youvanameki

 

Yayathi  the son of Nahusha married  Devayani

He also married a princess called  Sarmishta

The  angered  Devayani  by using  the curse of Shukra

Made  him an old man, His son Puru  gave him youth

 

9.19 Kamangal yethra  kaalam  anubhavichalum athu

Mathiyakuka illennu  arinju  rajan

Yellam yellam upekshichu, Puruvinnu  nalki rajhyam

Youvanathe  thiricheki, vanam prapichu

 

In spite  of enjoying passionate love  for a  long time

The king knew it will not be  sufficient

He gave up every thing and gave his kingdom to Puru

He also gave back his youth and reached forest

 

9.20Dushyanthan vanathil vechu Sakunthalaye vettu

Avarkkunddayi puthranai  Veera Bharathan

Bharathano makkkaleyum  vellathil mukk konnallo

Vithadhamai  vamsam  , pinne  dathu  yeduthallo

 

Dushyantha   married   SAkunthala  in the forest

They got a son called Valorous  Bharatha

That BHratha killed all his children by drowning in water

The clan could not go further, then they adopted  a child

 

9.21Jeeva  karunyathinnai, ranthi devan yenna  Rajan

Thanikkulathellam nalgi mathrukayaayi

Rajavine pareekshikkan yethi chernnu  TRimurthikal

Avasanam  anugraham  nalki  madangi

 

Due  to mercy for living beings  , The  king called Ranthi deva

Gave everything he had  as a model

To test  the king,  the trinity  of Gods  reached

At last  they gave their blessing and went back

 

9.22 Panchala Rajavindeyum , Jarasandha  janmatheyum

Santhanu puthran Bhishmande  kadha  cholli

DRidarashtra  janmatheyum, pandavar  them vamsatheyum,

Uthara  than puthrandeyum kadhakal  cholli

 

He told  stories of Panchala king, about  birth of  Jarasandha

And story of Bhishma  , the son of SAnthanu

He told about  birth of DRitharashtra, the clan of Pandavas

And the  story  of son  of Uttara

 

9.23Yadhuvinde  vamsatheyum  varnichallo sri  Sukanum

Yadhu vamsam Krishnanaale   atheeva punyam

Sooranmaar, madhavanmaarum , vrissnikalum  undaayathaam

SAuryameriya  kadhakal  paranju  pinne

 

Suka  also described   the   clan of Yadhus

Due  to birth of Krishna ,  Yadhu clan got  great blessing

Great people of valour , madhavas  and vrishnis  were born

Later  he told  the stories  of great  valour

Vasudeva  bharyamaarai  yezhu  perundu

Sri Krishnande  janmam  udhal swadamagamanam vare

Kamsa  the son of Vasudeva, Soorasena, Vasudeva

There were seven wives  for Vasudeva

From Birth of Krishna  to his return to heaven

Describes  in detail  about  Hell

He describes bout twenty  eight types of hell

The remedy  to hell  are  blessed  acts only

To remove  the sorrow of earth, God will reach  , said Brahma

Son of Devaki will  kill , Kamsa became angry

Vasudeva gave his sons  and  removed his anger

By Kamsa   six sons died

 

10.2 Rohini puthranai SEshan  avatharam cheithallo

Vasudeva hridayathil minni  bhagawan

SArvam Vishnu mayam aayi Bhayam kondu kamasippol

Sarveswara  Sthuthi cheithu Brahmadhikalum

 

Adhi  sesha  took incarnation   as Rohini’s son

God  shined  in the heart of  Vasudeva

Everything was  drenched  by Vishnu  , Kamsa  became  scared

Brahma and others prayed  God of all

Uthamamaam  BHagawanum  Avatharichu

Matha Pitha  sthuthi kettu  Sisuvai  maari devan

Vaasudevan puthranododoppam  Vrijathil yethhi

 

In the very auspicious time  of  AShtami Rohini, at  night

The  auspicious   time God took  incarnation

Hearing  prayers  of mother and father , the god changed  in to a baby

Vasudeva   along with his  son reached  Vrija  BHumi

 

10.4 Yogamaaya  karanjappol  odi yethi  Kamsa Rajan

Kunjine valiche yeduthu, nilathadichu

Reached  Vraja  to give poison  breast milk

Along with breast Muknda   drank  her  soul also

Poothana died and Krishna  laughed

When Sakata  asura  came  in a cart

The baby climbed to  the neck of Asura who came as  air

 One  day  when his  brother was not there  , along with his friends

He who had  form of mercy reached  the shore  of Yamuna,

He climbed  up the hood of Kaliya  and danced

The snake  went back to the island  of Ramanaka

Garuda  son of Suparna  cannot cross

Kaliya to get  protection from Garuda  lived there

The  one of colour of rich cloud, drank  the  forest fire

Bala badran  Pralambane adichu konnu

 

The  servant of Kamsa  called  Pralamba, put on dress of cow herd

And joined  with side  of Krishna   and started  playing

Pralamba  played and got  defeated

Bala Badhra  beat  Pralamba   and killed him

There was place  called Munjaadavi, It was full of grass

Mukunda herding  his cattle   reached there

The forest fire was  terrible , All people  shut their eyes

The baby  Krishna drank  the fire  and it became safe

Of the flute  which  is attached  to God’s lips

The immovable  moves  and Yamana river stops,

When the gopa maidens started  worshipping Nanda’s daughter

For getting   the son of Nanda  as their husband

The  God of Yoga Krishna robbed  the cloths  of ladies

Their  shame  changed   and they got devotion of love

When the gopa boys  were walking in forest  with increased  hunger,

The group  of Brahmins  did not give them anything

But  the wives  of Brahmins gave  everything to God,

The God of all ,  gave  all of them boons

Gokulesan Giri  poojakkai  vadhichu

Karma punyamaanu  mazha, indra dhanam alla yennu

Kannan unni  paranjallo , poojayum  cheithu

 

When the  gopas were staring  to do  Yaga  to please  Indra

The lord Of Gokula  argued  for  worship of mountain

Rain is blessing of our job and not gift  of Indra

The baby  Krishna told them, the worship started

The servant of Varuna   came and took away Nandagopa

Along with his father  God  reached  in Vrija Bhumi

God bathed   the  Gopas  in Yamuna

He showed  Vaikunta to  all of them

Gopi madham   theerkkan   deva devan  maranju

 

At the shore  of Yamuna   for the  sake  of ladies  of  Yadhu clan

The Lord  of Yadhu clan played  flute

He decided to play  Rasa kreeda  with Gopis

To  put an end to pride of Gopis , the god  of gods disappeared

They saw another Gopi  on the shores  of Yamuna

All Gopis together   sang  loudly

At the  time when various dangers  came together

Oh Lord of the soul, you  saved

In your look with corner of eyes , help us to  loose  their pride

Oh Lord please   show  yourselves  to us

When those  pretty maidens cried, Krishna   the son of Gopa

Came  before them in the form of  Manmatha

I do not have any one who is dear  to me like  you

He gave them unmatched devotion and Krishna told

By the touch of  son of Nanda, it became a Vidhya dhara

At the time Sankha chooda kidnapped  the Gopis

He died  at the hands of one who carries a conch

The deva sage  Narada saw  king Kamsa

H e saw Krishna and told  the news

When that  barbarian outsider (Kala Yavana) again came for war,

Within one night the god  , employing  Viswakarma  completed

The city  of Dwaraka  in the middle of th ocean

One of the monkey  of the army  of Sri Rama,

In Dwapara  yuga  fought  with Balarama

Immediately Balarama killed him with a hit  from his fist

Because  he was a devotee of Rama  he got  salvation

Balaraman kopishtanai, Duryodhanan virachu poi

Lakshmanaye Sambanoppam  Paranjayachu

 

Samba(son of Krishna) married  Lakshmana(Daughter of Duryodhana), Duryodhana became angry

He put  Samba  in prison, the war  started

Balarama  became very angry, Duryodhana started  shivering

He sent  Lakshmana  along with Samba

By doing penance  The king called  SAlva made his own,

A vehicle called  SAubha

Pradhyumna  fought a war with Saiva who tried

To destroy  the Yadhavas  but was  defeated and came back

Krishna who was living in Indraprastha  returned back,

He waged  a fierce  war  against Salva

Sudarsana  destroyed  the illusions sent by Salva

In the Kurukshethra war  He  became a charioteer

Deviyo kai pidichallo, Sudhama samthrupthanaayi

Deva  thulya  sampathilum  bakthi  vittilla

 

One fist  of the  beaten rice brought  with devotion ,

Was  put in his mouth  by the slave of devotee to quench his desire

Hs wife caught hold  of his hand, Sudhama was satisfied

Though he got wealth  equal to devas, his devotion continued

Gopanmaarum Gopoikal  thudangiyavar

Prabhasathil  yethi  chernnu, pala vidha dhanam cheithu

Yellarkkum  bhagawano darsanam nalki

 

On the day  of solar eclipse  , Yadavas  , Pandavas

Gopas  , Gopis  etc reached

Prabhasa and did  various type  of charities

And to every one  God showed  himself

Avarude  veli kadha chollan paranju,
Rukmani, Bhama, Kalindhi  , Jambhavathi, Mithravindha

Lakshmana  , SAthys, Badhrayum  Kadhakal cholli

 

Between this time  DRaupadhi   requested,

The wives of Krishna  , to tell  the stories of their marriage,

Rukmani, Bhama, Kalindhi  , Jambhavathi, Mithravindha

Lakshmana  , SAthys, Badhrayum  told their  stories

Karma  mukthikku  yenthu venam yennu  chodhichu

As to what has to be done for salvation of Karma

They told that  we have to do fire sacrifice  and he did,

The  rainy  season started, every one  returned

The lord who was God  reached  Suthala

Mahabali  received  him, He gave the dead sons,

They sucked  breasts of DEvaki and got the form of devas

Due to mercy of the God  everything went off  well

The kings called  SRuthadeva and Bahulswa

Were blessed  by Krishna who looks  after those who surrender to him

Arjunande  ahankaram  nasichallo, Bhagawanum

IN the  test of Brugu , it became known God is the peaceful one

In the sorrow  of a Brahmin  who had lost  all is children,

The pride  of Arjuna   was destroyed,

Muni told about discussion between Nimi and nine yogis

First  the poet  and   then Lord Hari replied

Fame from birth  to death is sign  of a good man

Karma yogathe  krichu paadi yallo, aavirhothran

Approach Guru, brush up your knowledge

Using the fire of knowledge  waking by relation of  Guru  with student

WE should make all  actions   in to ash

Ariyuga, Sajjanathin gunangale  ariyuga

Udhava , nee  yende bruthyan Sakhavallo

 

One who does not have attachment to body  m while still in body

Is one who is frred.All others are  tied ones

Know  the characters  of good people, know

Udhava  , you are  my servant and friend

 

11.12Sathsangathin mahimaye parayunnu veendam Krishnan

Sathsangathaal raksha nedum , papikal poalum

Karma mukthi needeeiduvaan, karmam cheyyukayum venam

Udhavande nere nokki, BHagawan cholli

 

Again Krishna tells  about greatness of good company

By good company  we will escape , even the sinners

For getting freed of Karmas, You have  to do Karma

The God said  seeing Udhava  directly

 

11.13 Dukhangal naseecheeduvaan, manassine  easwarangal

Urappikkukayum  venam yennariyu

Yikaryathe bodhippikkan, hamsamaayi pandu jnaanum

Ksheera neera  vivekiyai karyangal  cheyyu

 

For destroying sorrow, you have to make your mind,

Firm on God, please know  this

To teach you this matter, I became swan earlier

Do actions with wisdom to separate  milk and water

 

11.14 Yogam, Sankhyam, thapam, dhaanam, vritham yennivaye  kalum

BAkthikkanu  pradhanam  yennu  arinjeeduka

Jnaano  baktha dasan thanne, Bakthi unaraan aayittu

Swaroopa  dhyanathe  bhagawan  upadesichu

 

More  than  Yoga, sankhya ,penance, charity and meditation

Please  know  that devotion  is more important

There are  many occult powers like decreasing  size, increasing size etc

Occult powers   are  not the  way  to devotion

With occult powers  you cannot  influence  me

Remember  that devotion  is the  victory  in life

Yellathilum  yenne kaanaan , aadhyam chilathil kaanuka

Garuda  among birds  , Vasuki  among snakes

Arjuna  among hoes, All  are myself only

To see  me in everything, first  see me in somethings

Specially  the  plans to Vanaprastha(householder  going in forest) and sanyasi( Vanapratha leaving everything was told

In life’s fourth part  you have to go to the forest

There after doing penance  you have  to become a sanyasi, Everything,\

Is  for  devotion of God, you have to understand

The aim of Karma, Bakthi, Jnana yoga  is same

At the beginning  the three  are  different

The man’s body  is the boat we  got to cross,

The ocean  of Samsara

Brahmin  of Avanthi  to Udhava

For thought , there is two  , always the  reason is the mind

If we  control the mind , happiness  is possible

Randennulla bhavam maarukaayaanu  sankhyam

Prapanchathil uthpathi layangale  kurichu oaarthittu

Manassinde dwanda  bhavam upekshichidaam

 

To control  the mind we have  to learn sankhya sastra,

Sankhya makes you change  the opinion of everything is two

Thinking of the  creation and dissolution  of the world,

WE have  give away  the thought  of two  of the mind

11.26 Kamini kanchananangalil  bandhamillatha  oruvannu

Karunyabdhi thannnil  bakthi  unarnnu  uyarum

Purooruvassinde kadha paaadi  Krishnan, anantharam

Sath sangathaal  prema bakthi undaakum noonam

 

In one  who is not interested  in love of ladies  and gold

The devotion to ocean of mercy  will  start  increasing

Krishna sang story of Pururuvs, later

With good company, the devotional love  will be created, definitely

 

11.27Bakthiyude  mahathmyathe  onnu koodiurappikkan

Baktha dasan, Kriya yogam, bangiyai  cholli

Pooja  cheithu, bhagaqane  , manassinde  dharanayaal

Poojayaale  , manassilo  bakthi nirayum

 

To further  emphasize  the greatness  of devotion,

The slave of devotees , prettily  told about Kriya yoga

By the feeling of mind  , we worship God

By devotion mind will be filled with devotion

 

11.28Niranthara  bakthi kondu  samsarathe  agathidaam

Nirantharam ithinnayi  sadhana venam

Nishkamanayi karma cheithu, bhajanam thudarnideenam

Ithinaale  nasikkatha vijayam nedam

 

BY permanent devotion, we can , remove samasara

For this  permanently  there should be practice

Do  acts without attachment and continue  prayer  to god

By this we will get victory  which wil never get destroyed

 

11,29Ahantha mamatha illathe, yenne thanne  smarikkuka,

Bhagwano cholli, bakthi deepam thelinju,

BHagawande  padhukakal, sirassilai darichittu

Baktha  udhavan badarikku  yaathrayayi

 

Without  self consciousness  and pride  , think of me only

God told, the light of devotion was lit

Keeping the slippers of God   on his head

The devotee  Udhava  started towards Badari

 

11.30 Prabhasathil yethi dhanam cheithuvallo yadavanmaar

Madhya lahariyil yadhavanmaar thammil  thalli  thalli  nasichu

Balaraman  swa dehathe upekshichu, Sri krishnano

Jarayude  saramethu mandahasichu

 

Yadhava  reached  Prabhasa and did  Chartities

In the excitement of alchohol yadhavas hit each  other and died

Balarama  gave  up his body,

Sri Krishna was hit by arrow of Jara and smiled

 

11.31 SArva  deva  janangalum nokki  nilkke, padhma  nethram

Sarveswaran melle melle adachuvallo

Bhagawan madangiyathaam vaartha kettu dwarakayil

Pathnimaaro swa dehathe upekshichuvallo

 

With all devas  seeing him, The God of all,

Slowly , slowly  shut his  lotus like eyes

Hearing  the news  of the return of God, In Dwaraka

All his wives discarded  their own body

12.1  Kai yugathe Raja vamsatheyum, kaliyude,

Dosangalum  YAdha vidhi varnichuvallo

Janangalo adharmthil thaalpararaayi  maaredum

Rajakkanmaar  bhoomiye  bakshikkunnor  aakum

 

The royal families of Kali yuga, the evils

Of Kali age, is described  as per  rules

The people will change in to those interested in wickedness

The kings would become those  who eat the land

 

12.2Bhagawande kala sesham, kali yugam thudanginan

Adharmavum  akramavum vardhichu varum

Kali yugathinde  oduvil, Adharmathe  illathakkan

Kalkiyai Bhagawan   avatharikkum

 

After  the time  of God, Kali age  will start

Wickedness  and violence  will keep on increasing

At the  end of Kali age, to  to remove  Adharma

God will take  an incarnation of Kalki

 

12,3Yellam yende yennu chollum  narano marichidumbol

Onnumonnum kondu pokan kazhiyukilla

Yithra doshamulla  kali yugathinde punyam athre

Naama  japam onnu  kondu  moksham nedaam

 

The humans who claim  everything is theirs, when they die,

Will not be able  to take  anything

The blessing  of this great  evil Kali age is that

By chanting of God’s name  we will get salvation

 

12,4 Nithyam naimithikam , prakrutheekam, athyantheekavum

Yitharathil  naalu  pralayamundu

Samsara  kadalil ninnu  kara  keraan, thoni onne

Srimadh bhagawathamaakum  akshara  brahmam

 

Daily , cusal  , natural  and that at the end

Like this  there would four deluges

To  get out of the ocean of  Samsara , there is only one boat

The never decaying  God  of  Bhagawatha

 

12.5Bhagawanil nishkama  bakthi vannal, Brahmabhavam

Kai vannedum  yenna sathyam Shukanum Cholli

Brahmopadesathil Rajan mukthanaayi  maariyallo

Ini yenthu ariyenam, muni  chodhichu

 

If you get unattached  devotion  to god, you will get Godliness

This  truth  was   told  by sage Sukha

In the teaching about God  , the  king became  released/evolved,

The sage  asked  , what more do you want

 

12.6Parikshith  namichappol, sri Sukha rishi  yathra aayi

Paramatthma bhavathilekku  uyarnna Rajan

Thakshakande  damasakam undaayi, sarpa sathram nadathinaan

Vyasan vedam paguthathum cholli , nannayi

 

When Parikshith saluted , the sage  took leave

The kind raised  to the status  of divine God

Then there was biting by  Thakshaka, He carried  out  Sarpa yaga

He also told how Vyasa  divided  the Vedas, it was  great

 

12.7Pathinettu  puranangal rachichoru  Vyasa  devan

Bhagwatham mahathai  nirmichuvallo

Pathu lakshanamulla Bhagawatham, Veda Vyasan

Sishya  parampara  vazhi pracharipichu

 

The  God like Vyasa    wrote  the eighteen Puranas

And he also greatly  wrote Bhagwatham

The Bhagawatha  with ten good  properties was

Publicized through  his disciples

 

  12,8Markandeyan Himalaya  sanukkalalil  thapam cheithu

Indran thapam mudakkanayi  nokki, thothodi

Thapassil  santhushtaraayi  nara narayananmaarum

Prathyakshamaayi, Baktha muni  sthuthi  thudangi

 

Marakandeya did penance  on mountains  of Himalayas

Indra tried  to stop it  , he failed  and  ran away

Nara and Narayana  became  happy with his penance

They  came in person ,The devoted sage started  praying

 

12.9Varamenthu venamennu chodhichappol, muni cholli

Maya  kandal kollam yennu  vinayathode

Pettennu  mazha peithu, pralayathin sadrusamayi

Aalila kannane  kandu  muni pakachu

 

When they asked  what boon he wanted , the sage said,

“if possible I want to see  illusion”  with humility

Suddenly  ther was rain  , similar  to the deluge

When he say Baby Krishna on Banyan leaf, the sage was perplexed

 

12.10Muni vendum thapam cheithu, Parvathiyum mukannanum

Muniyude munnil yethi darasanam  nalki

Bhagawnil, bhakthanmaaril, Maha deva padhangalil

NIshkalanka  bakthikkai  prathichu  Muni

 

Again the sage did penance, Goddess  Parvathi and Lord shiva

Reached  before the sage  and showed  them selves

The sage  prayed  for stainless  devotion on God

On devotees  and feet  of Lord Shiva

 

12.11Pathinallu lokavaum bhagavande avayava-

Sthanangalaai kalpiikenam, suthan paranju

AAdhithyande  vyoohatheyum, paranjallo  anantharam

Bhagawatha parayanam samarppichallo

 

Sutha told   , you have to imagine  the fourteen worlds

AS  the  place  of the limbs  of God

He also later  told about the solar  system

The  end of reading  of Bhagawatha  has come

 

12.12 Ithuvare kettathellam , manam cheyyanayittu

Pandrandu skandangalude  sarathe mudhaa

Haraye nama yenna panchakshari japathaale

Sarva papam nasichidum  yennathum sathyam

 

If you  keep in your mind  all that  yu have heard

The summary  of twelve Cantos  , with joy

By the chanting of  five lettered  “Haraye nama”

All sins  would get  destroyed , this is the truth

 

12.13Purana sankhyaye choli, Bhagawatha mahathmyvum

Sathya swaroopane dhyanam cheithu  Rishimaar

Bakthikkai prarthanayum  nadathinaar, Nama japam

Dukha haram, Namikkunnu  Sri  Hariyeyum

 

After telling number of Purana , te  greatness of Bhagawatha

And the sages meditated on God  who has the true form

And they prayed  for  devotion, chanting of names

Is destroyer of sorrow, I salute   the God Hari

 

Sarvathra  Govinda nama sankeerthanam

Govinda, govinda, Govinda

 

Everywhere  the song of  name of Govinda

Govinda, govinda, Govinda
