Govinda  Hari  Govinda  Hari Govinda  Hari  Govinda

 

ആമോദത്തോടെ വന്നു ഞങ്ങളീ

 വാമന കഥ പാടുമ്പോൾ

വാണീ ദേവിയും, ശ്രീ ഗണേശനും

 വാണീടേണമെൻ മാനസേ

 

Aamodhathode  vannu  jnangal yee

Vamana   Kadha  paadumbol

Vani  deviyum, Sri Ganesanum

Vaaneedanam yen manase

 

With pleasure   when we   come

And  sing   the story  of Vamana

Let  Goddess  Saraswathi , Lord Ganesa

Should   live in my mind

 

അന്നൊരു കാലം ശ്രീമഹാബലി-

യെന്നൊരുമന്നൻ വാഴവേ

സത്യ ധർമ്മങ്ങൾ പാരിനേ കാത്തു

 നിത്യം ശോഭ ചൊരിയവേ

 

Annoru  kalam  Sri  Maha Bali

Yennoru  mannan vaazhave

SAthya  darmangal paarine kaathu

Nithyam   shobha   choriyave

 

When long times ago, a king

Called  Mahabali   was  living

Truth   and dharma   protected  the world

And daily when grace/light was  being showered

 

ദാനവൻ ബലിതന്നുടെ കീർത്തി

ദാനവാരികൾക്കാധിയായ്

ഖിന്നത പൂണ്ടു ദേവകളുടൻ

പന്നഗശായിതൻ മുന്നിൽ

ചെന്നു വൃത്താന്തം' ചൊല്ലിയനേരം

നന്നു നന്നെന്നു ചിന്തിച്ചാൻ

 

Dhanavan  Bali  thannude  keerthi

Dhanavarikalkku  AAdhiyai

Khinnatha   poondu  devakal  udan

Pannaga  sayi   than mumbil

Chennu  vrithantham   cholliya  neram

Nannu  nannu   yennu  chinthichaan

 

The fame  of Asura  Bali

Became worry  to enemy  of asuras

Becoming sad   the devas  immediately

Went in front  of he  who sleeps on snake

And he thought  “Good, Good”

 

ഇന്ദിരാ കാന്തൻ സങ്കടം കേട്ടു

 മന്ദഹാസമോടോതിനാൻ -

ആളുമർത്ഥവും രാജ്യാധികാര-

ക്കോളുകളൊത്തു ചേരുമ്പോൾ

 ആരിലും വരാം തെല്ലഹങ്കാരം

 വാരിധിയ്ക്കു, തിരപോലെ.

 

Indiraa  kanthan   sangadam  Kettu

Manda  hasa modu othinaan

Aalum  arthavum  rajyadhikara

Kolukalum   othu   cherumbol

Aarilum  varaam  thellu  ahankaram

Varidhikku   thira  poale

 

Husband of Lalkshi  heard the complaint

And with  a smile  told

When his personality  , wealth  ,

Royal power  and planets  join together

Any one  get little   pride

Just like  tides in the ocean

 

മന്നവൻ പ്രതി,നിങ്ങളിൽ വേണ്ട

ഖിന്നതതെല്ലും ഓർത്താലും

പക്ഷിവാഹന വാണികൾ കേട്ടങ്ങ-

ക്ഷിതിപാലർ പോയിനാർ

 

Mannavan prathi  , ningalil  venda

Khinnatha   thellum   oarthaalum

Pakshi vahana   vanikall  keettu   angu

Ikshithi  palar   poyinaar

 

Towards   that king, let  there  be sorrow

Among you  , even a little , remember

Hearing   the words  of he who rides on bird

The devas    went away

 

അങ്ങനെ കാലം പോകും വേളയിൽ

കേട്ടു യാഗകഥകളും യാഗശാലയിൽ

ബ്രഹ്മചാരിതൻ  രൂപമാർന്ന വടുവിനെ

നോക്കിയാചാര്യ ശുക്രനാം മുനി

 മന്നവൻ തന്നോടോതിനാൻ

 

Angine  kalam  pokum  velayil.

Kettu  Yaga  Kadhakalum   Yaga salayil

Brahmachari than   roopamarnna  vaduvine

Nokki  aacharya    shukranaam muni

Mannavan  thannodu  othinaan

 

When time  was going like that

In a yaga place  they  heard  stories  of Yaga

And  seeing a Brahmin boy  who was not  married

The   sage  Shukra  who was  the guru

And he  told  the king

 

 

ബ്രഹ്മചര്യവും വാമനത്വവും

വിഷ്ണുതൻ തന്ത്രം നിശ്ചയം :

മുന്നിൽ നിൽക്കും വടുവിനെ നോക്കി

 മന്നവൻ മുദാ ചോദിച്ചാൻ

വന്ദനം മമ സ്വാഗതം ഭവാനെന്തു

 സേവനം ചെയ്യേണ്ടു

 

Brahmacharyavum  Vamanathwavum

Vishnu  than thanthram nischayam,

Munnil  nilkkum  vaduvine nokki

Mannavan Mudhaa  chodichaan

Vandanam , Mama  Swagatham , Bhavanenthu

Sevanam   cheyyendu

 

Brahmacharya state  and dwarfness

Definitely  it is a trick  of Vishnu

Seening the  Brahmin boy   standing  in front

The king  with   joy asked

Saluttions , My  welcome, What

Service  has   to be done to you

 

മൂന്നടി മണ്ണു തന്നാലും ഭവാൻ

ഈശ്വരാർച്ചന ചെയ്തീടാൻ

താടിയിൽ വിരലോടിച്ചാചാര്യൻ

ശിഷ്യനോടായിട്ടോതിനാൻ

 

Moonnu  adi  mannu  thannalum  Bhavan

Easwara    archana   cheitheeduvaan

THadiyil viralodichu    AAcharuyan

Sishyanoodaayittu  othinaan

 

You please give  me three  feet  of earth

For worshipping  God

The guru  putting his fingers  in side his beard

Told   his   disciple

 

വന്നു നിൽക്കുമീ വാമനൻ സാക്ഷാൽ

 വിഷ്ണുവെന്നതു മോർക്കണം

പാത്രശുദ്ധിയറിഞ്ഞു ദാനങ്ങൾ

 ചെയ്യണമെന്നും സജ്ജനം

 

Vannu  nilkkum yee  vamanan  Saakshaal

Vishu vennathu  oarkkanam

Pathra shudhi arinju  dhaanangal

Cheyyanam yennum  sajjanam

 

This   Vamana   who stands  before us

You should   remember  is Lord  Vishnu

After  knowing   cleanliness  of  his  intent

WE  should do charity  , say   good people

 

രക്ഷകരെന്ന ഭാവത്തിൽ ചിലർ

ശിക്ഷിപ്പു നിത്യം സത്യത്തെ.

ശുക്ര ഗീതികളുള്ളത്തിൽ കേട്ടു

 ബ്രഹ്മചാരിയുമോതിനാൻ

 

Rakshakar   yenna  bhavathil chilar

Sikshichu  nithyam  sathyathr

Shukra  geethikal   ullathil  kettu

Brahmachariyum   othinaan

 

Some  people   in the form of protectotrs

Would   daily   punish the truth

Hearing   the words  of Shukra  in his heart

The  Brahmachari   told

 

മൂന്നടി മണ്ണുമാത്രമാണന്റെ

 കാമിതം വാക്കു തന്നാലും

സർവ്വവും ശങ്കരാർപ്പിതമെന്നു

ചിന്തിച്ചാൻ ശീ മഹാബലി

ചൊല്ലിനാൻ മുന്നിൽ നില്‍ക്കും

 വാമന രൂപത്തോടായി സമ്മതം.

 

Moonaadi   Mannu  maathram  aanu yende

Kamitham , Vaakku  Thannalum

Sarvavum    Sankara  arpitham yennu

Chinthichaam   Sri  Maha Bali

Chollinaan   munnil  nilkkum

Vamana   roopathodaai sammatham

 

My desire   is  only   three feet  earth

Please  give word

Sri Maha bali thought,

Everything is given by Lord Sankara

He told to the  boy who ,

Was  standing in form of dwarf, “I agree”

 

വാക്കുകിട്ടിയ നേരം വാമനൻ

 മാനം മുട്ടെ വളർന്നതും

 രണ്ടടിയാലളന്നു ലോകേശൻ

 ഭൂമി പാതാള സ്വർഗ്ഗങ്ങൾ

 

Vaakku  kittiya  neram  vamanan

Manam mutte  valarnnathum

Randadi aal  alannu  lokesan

Bhoomi  patala   swargangal

 

When  he   got  the positive answer

He grew  tall  touching the sky

And by   two steps  the lord  of the world

Measured earth , heaven and underworld

 

ഭക്തചിത്തമളക്കും നോട്ടത്താൽ

ഭക്തവൽസലൻ ചൊല്ലിനാൻ

തന്ന വാക്കു നീ പാലിക്ക ഭവാൻ

ഖിന്നത വിട്ടുണർന്നാലും.

 

Baktha chitham alakkum  nottathaal

Baktha vathsalan    chollinaan

Thanna  vaakku   nee  palikka   bhavan

Khinnatha  vittu  unarnaalum

 

With a look that  measures  the devotee’s mind

The darling  of devotees  told

Sir, please follow   the word  given by you

Please    wake  up  from depression

 

എന്നതു കേട്ടു ശുദ്ധനാം ബലി

അശ്രു ബിന്ദുക്കൾ തൂകിനാൻ

 രണ്ടുകണ്ണുമടച്ചു കൈകൂപ്പി

മുന്നിൽ താഴും ശിരസ്സോടെ

വിശ്വരക്ഷകൻ വിഷ്ണു തൻ രൂപം

 ഉള്ളത്തിൽ കണ്ടങ്ങർത്ഥിച്ചാൻ

 

Yennathu  kettu  shudhanaam  Bali

Aasru bindhukkal  thookinaan

Randu  kannum adachu  kai  koopi

Munnil  thaazhum  sirassode

Viswa rakshakan Vishnu than  roopam

Ullathil  kandu  arthichaan

 

Hearing that  the  Bali  the pure one

Shed  drops  of   tears

With both eyes shut, with  hands in salutation

With bent  head  to his front

He saw   the form of Vishnu  , the saviour  of the world

In his  mind   and made this request

 

ശോകനാശനേ വെച്ചാലും ഭവാൻ

ചേവടി മമ മൂർദ്ധാവിൽ

മുമ്പിൽ കുമ്പിട്ട  ഭക്തി ശൃംഗത്തിൽ

 വിഷ്ണു തൻ പാദമൂന്നിനാൻ

 

Soka  nasana  vechaalum  Bhavaan

Chevadi mama  moordhaavil

Mumbil kumbitta  Bakthi   sringathll

Vishnu  than  padham oonninaan

 

Oh destroyer  of sorrow , please keep

Your feet  on  my head

And on the head of the evotee  who bent

Lord Vishnu placed  his feet

 

മൂന്നടികൊണ്ടു മന്നവൻ നേടി

ത്രയക്ഷരീയാം സുതലവും.

 

Moonnadi  kondu  mannavan  nedi

Thrayakshareeyam suthalvum

 

With three  steps  , the king got

All good places mentioned  by  three  letters

 

 ആറടിയുള്ള ജന്മത്തിൽ ഹരേ

 മുന്നടികൊണ്ട് സായുജ്യം

കൈവരിച്ചൊരാ പുണ്യജൻമത്തിന്‍

 പാദവുമിതാ വന്ദിപ്പൂ.

 

Aaradiyulla janmathil  hare

Moonadi  kondu  sayujyam

Kai  varichoruraa  punya  janmathin

Padhavum   idhaa  vandhippu

 

Oh Lord Vishnu  , in this  life of six feet

To the one  blessed  birth  who got

Salvation   just by three  feet

I  am saluting his   feet

 

 

കർമ്മ, ബന്ധ, കടങ്ങൾ പൊട്ടിച്ചു

 സദ്ഗതി വന്നു ചേരുവാൻ

 നിൻ പാദം ഒന്നുമെൻ ശിരസ്സിലും

 വെക്കണേ ഹരി ഗോവിന്ദ (ഗോവിന്ദ.....)

 

Karma  , bandha  kadangal  pottichu

Sad gathi    vannu  cheruvaan

Nin paadam  onnu  , yen sirassilum

Vaikkane   Hari   Govinda (Govinda)

 

To break  karma , attachments  and debts

And  to  get   salvation

You please  keep , one feet  on my head

Oh Hari , Oh  Govinda
