     குறும்புகள் செய்திடும் கோபாலன்

     கருணையுடனே நம்மை காத்திடும்  பாலன்

     கார்முகில் வண்ணன் கண்ணன் கோபாலன்

 

Guruvayuril  vaazhnthidum  Balan

Kurumbukal   cheithidum  Gopalan

Karunayudane nammai  kaathidum  Balan

Karmukhil varnan, Kannan  , gopalan

 

The  boy who lives  in Guruvayur

The  cow herd   who does  mischiefs

The boy who protects  us   with  mercy

2. சின்னஞ்சிறிய சிவந்த பட்டணிந்து

     சிந்தயை கவர்ந்திடும் கோபாலன்

     புன்னகை புரிந்து புவனத்தை  மயக்கும்

     மன்னன் கோபாலன் மதன  கோபாலன்

 

Chinnam chiru  chivantha  pattaninthu

Chinthayai  kavarthidum  gopalan

Punnagai  purinthu bhuvanathai  mayakkum

Mannan  gopalan, madhana  gopalan

 

Wearing   a very  small  red  silk

The Gopala  who robbed  our thoughts

He who smiles  and attracts  the  world

The king Gopala, The  bewitching  Gopala

 

3. புற்றரவின் மேல் பொற்பதம் வைத்து

      நர்த்தனம் ஆடிய கோபாலன்

      பற்றுதல் அகற்றி பவவினை தீர்த்து

       நற்கதி அளித்தடும் கோபாலன்

 

Puthu aravin mel por padham vaithu

Narthanam  aadiya  gopalan

Pathuthal   agathi bhava  vinai  theerthu

Nar gathi alithidum gopalan

 

Keeping his golden feel on the serpent of anthill

The  Gopala  who  danced

Removing attachment , taking away  past  karma

The  Gopala  who grants   us sad

 

4. கோவர்த்தன கிரியை தாங்கிய    பாலன்

    கோபியர் கொஞ்சிடும் கோபாலன்

    ஆயர்களுடனே ஆனந்தமாக

     ஆநிரை மேய்த்திட்ட  கோபாலன்

 

Govardhana  giriyai   thangiya  balan

Gopiyar konjidum  Gopalan

AAyarkaludane aanandamaaka

Aanirayai  meithitta  gopalan

 

The boy   who lifted the  Govardhana   mountain

The gopala who is   fondled  by  Gopis

The Gopala  who herded  cattle

Happily  with other  cow herds

 

5.   புல்லாங்குழலை இசைத்து     மனங்களை

      புல்லரிக்க செய்யும் கோபாலன்

       மழலை மொழிகள் பேசி மயக்கிடும்  பாலன்

       அழகிய பாலன் குழந்தை கோபாலன்

 

Pullankuzhalai  isaithu  mamangalai

Pullarikka  cheyyum gopalan

Mazhalai  mozhikal  pesi  mayakkidum balan

Azhakiya   balan, Kuzhandhai  gopalan

 

Playing  his , the gopala  , who

Mesmerized   the  minds

The boy  who lisps and make people benumbed

The pretty boy, The  baby  gopala

 

6.    கள்ளத் தனமாய் வெண்ணையை உண்டு

        எள்ளி நகையாடும் கோபாலன்

        கண்ணா என்று கனிவுடன் அழைத்தால்

         கணம் தனில் வந்திடும் கோபாலன்

 

Kalla thanamai  vennayai  undu

Yelli nagayaadum  baalan

Kannaa  yendru kanivudan azhaithaal

Kanam  thanil vanthidum  gopalan

The gopala  who eats  butter by deceit,

And   laughs  loiudly teasing us

And if we call him Kanna  with pleasant feeling

The Gopala   who comes  in a second

Sri Murari Pancharathnam is the Slokam in praise of and in prayer to Lord Sri Maha Vishnu. Lord Vishnu has got the name Murari as He had destroyed the demon named Mura.

 

 

यत्सेवनेन पित्रु मात्रु सहोदराणां
चित्तं न मोहमहिमा मलिनं करोति
इत्थं समीक्ष्य तव भक्त जनान् मुरारे
मूकोऽस्मि तेऽङ्घ्रि कमलं तद तीव धन्यम् (1)

 

Yath  sevane na  pithru  mathru  sahaodharaanaam

Chitham   na  moha  mahima malinam  kaothi

Itham  sameekshya thava  baktha   janaan  Muraare

Mookosmi  they angry  kamalam, thadha    atheeva  dhanyam

 

By  not doing service to father  , mother  and  brothers

Do not make  dirty  the mind due  to passion and praise

Oh killer  of Mura   knowing this  your  devotees

Make  me  dumb, your lotus like feet , makes me greatly  indebted

 

 

ये ये विलग्न मनसः सुखमाप्तु कामाः
ते ते भवन्ति जगदुद्भव मोह शून्याः
द्रुष्ट्वा विनष्ट धनधान्य ग्रुहान् मुरारे
मूकोऽस्मि तेऽङ्घ्रि कमलं तद तीव धन्यम् (2)

 

Ye ye  vilagna manasa  sukham  aapthu  Kaamaa

They  they  bhavanthi jagad   udhbhava  moha   sunyaa

DRushtaa   vinashta dhana  dhanya  gruhaan murare

Mookosmi  they angry  kamalam, thadha    atheeva  dhanyam

 

These these  slender  minds  that makes  desire   as  pleasure

They they  would make the universe bereft of  passion of production

Oh killer  of Mura seeing  the homes bereft of  money and grains

Makes  me  dumb, your lotus like feet  makes me greatly  indebted

 

 

 

वस्त्राणि दिग्वलय मावसतिः श्मशाने
पात्रं कपालमपि मुण्ड विबुऊषणानि ornaments
रुद्रे प्रसादमचलं तव वीक्ष्य शौरे
मूकोऽस्मि तेऽङ्घ्रि कमलं तद तीव धन्यम् (3)

 

Vasthraani   digvalaya , mavasathi  smasane

Pathram  kapalam api  munda  bibuvukshanani

Rudre   prasadam    achalam   thava  veekshya   sareere

Mookosmi  they angry  kamalam, thadha    atheeva  dhanyam

 

 

He uses  the directions  as dress  , he  lives  in cremation ground

The alms vessel  he caarries  is a  skull, he uses  dead bodies as  ornaments

Rudra  was pleased , not moving, and    the body  you looked at is  this ,

यत्कीर्तिगायनपरस्य विधातृसूनोः
कौपीनमैणमजिनं विपुलां विभूतिम् ।
स्वस्यार्थ दिग्भ्रमणमीक्ष्य तु सार्वकालं
मूकोऽस्मि तेऽङ्घ्रिकमलं तदतीव धन्यम् ॥ 4 ॥

Yath keerthi gayana parasya  vidhathu  soono

Kaupeenam auNam ajinam  vipulaam vibhuthim

Swasya artha  dig bramana meeksya thu    saarva kalam

Mookosmi  they angry  kamalam, thadha    atheeva  dhanyam

 

Oh  son of learned  person  singing   the  fame  of others

Wearing loin cloth  , and wild animal fur   and sacred ash

And for sake of health   travelling  in all directions all the time

Makes  me  dumb, your lotus like feet  makes me greatly  indebted

 

यद्वीक्षणे धृतधियामशनं फलादि
वासोऽपि निर्जिनवने गिरिकन्दरासु ।
वासांसि वल्कलमयानि विलोक्य चैवं
मूकोऽस्मि तेऽङ्घ्रिकमलं तदतीव धन्यम् ॥ 5 ॥

Yadh  veekshane  drutha   dhiyam  asanam  phalaadhi

Vaasopi nirjana   vane giri  kanda  rasu

Vaasamsi  valkala mayaani  vilokya  chaivam

Mookosmi  they angry  kamalam, thadha    atheeva  dhanyam

 

With his  look of intelligence , with  his food  being fruits

Living in a bare  forest with  mounts   and caves

Dressing with tree bark and being   visible, he

Makes  me  dumb, your lotus like feet  makes me greatly  indebted

 

स्तोत्रं पादाम्बुजस्यैतच्छ्रीशस्य विजितेन्द्रियः ।
पठित्वा तत्पदं याति श्लोकार्थज्ञस्तु यो नरः ॥ 6 ॥

Stotram padambhujasyai thachr eesasya  vijithendriya

Padithvaa thath padham yathi  slokarthajnasthu   yo nara

 

The prayer  from the lotus  like feet   of god  will make  you win over  his sense organs

By the man who reads with verse  along  with its meaning

(Swadha Devi is a Hindu goddess who is the queen of Pitru Loka, the realm of ancestors.. If  this  great  stotra is chanted  on Mahala amavasya

You will  satisfy all your pithrus. This   was given in tamil by  Bombay  Nagaraja vadhar.Very many thanks to him

ஸ்வதா என்பது பித்ருக்களுக்கு ப்ரீதியானது

தர்ப்பணம்செய்யும்போது சொல்லப்படும் மந்திரச்சொல்

ஸ்ரீஅக்னி பகவானின் மனைவியரான

ஸ்ரீஸ்வாஹா தேவியானவள் ஸ்ரீ தேவர்களுக்கு கொடுப்பதைக்

கொண்டு போய் சேர்ப்பவள்

ஸ்ரீஸ்வதா தேவியானவள் ஸ்ரீபித்ருக்களுக்கு கொடுப்பதைக்கொண்டு போய் சேர்ப்பவள்

 

ஸ்வாஹா என்றால் தேவர்கள்ப்ரீதியடைவர்....

ஸ்வதா சப்தத்தால் பித்ருக்கள் ப்ரீதி அடைவர்...

 

அதன் மஹிமையை நாம் அறிந்துகொள்ளவே  இந்தஸ்லோகம் ப்ரும்மவைவர்த்தபுராணத்தில் ப்ரும்மாவால் சொல்லப்பட்டுள்ளது

 

ப்ரும்மோவாச-

 

ஸ்வதோச்சாரணமாத்ரேன தீர்த்தஸ்நாயீ பவேன்நர:

முச்யதே ஸர்வ பாபேய்யோ வாஜபேய பலம் லபேத்

 

Brahmo  uvacha:-

Swadhocharana maathrena  theertha  snaayi bhaven nara

Muchyathe sarva  paapebhyo   , Vajapeya balam labheth

 

Just  by chanting “Swadha”  Men get effect  of bathing  in all theerthas,

He would escape   from all sins and get  effect of conducting  Vajapeya  yaga

 

 

 

2. ஸ்வதா ஸ்வதா ஸ்வதாத்யேவம்

யதிவார த்ரயம் ஸ்மரேத்

ஸ்ராத்தஸ்ய பலமாப்னோதி காலஸ்ய தர்பணஸ்ய ச

 

Swadha , swadha, swadha  ithyevam

Yathi vaara  thrayam  smareth

Sradhasya  phalam aapnothi,

Kalasya   thrpanasya  cha

 

Chanting Swadha, Swadha , swathi

Three   times  if  we think

WE will get  result  of doing Sradha

And also doing  tharpana  in proper time

 

 

 

3. ஸ்ராத்தகாலே ஸ்வதா ஸ்தோத்ரம்

ய:ஸ்ருனோதி சமாஹித:

லபேத் ஸ்ராத்தசதானாம் ச

புண்யமேவ ந சம்சய:

 

3.Sradha kaale  swadha  stotram

Ya srunothi    samahitha

Labheth sradha  sathaanaam cha

Punyam eva na   samsaya

 

If we  heat  the stotra  of Swadha

Dring time  of conduct  of Sradham

Without doubt we  will get

The good effect of doing  hundred  sradhams

 

4. ஸ்வதா ஸ்வதா ஸ்வதாத்யேவம் த்ரிசந்த்யம் ய:படேன் நர:

ப்ரியாம் வினீதாம் ஸ லபேத் ஸாத்வீம் புத்ரம் குணான்விதம்

 

Swadha  , swadha  swadha ithyevam   Trisandhyam  Paden  nara

Priyaam  vineethaam  sa labheth sadhwim puthram  gunanwitham

 

He who   chants  SWadha, Swadha , Swadha during swan , noon and dusk

Would get  dear wife  with humility  and  good son with  all good conducts

 

5. பித்ருணாம் ப்ராணதுல்யாத்வம் த்விஜஜீவன ரூபிணீ

ஸ்ராத்தாதிஷ்டாத்ரு தேவீச ஸ்ராத்தாதீனாம் பலப்ரதா

 

Pithroonaam  prana  thulya  thwam  dwija   jeevana  roopini

Sradha  adhishathathru  devi cha   sradha  dhinam phala  pradhaa

 

Swadha  is like  soul to pithrus , like    a life of a Brahmin

SWadha is the chief  of Sradha and by her you get effect of daily  sradha

 

6. பஹிர்கச்ச மன்மனச:பித்ரூணாம் துஷ்டிஹேதவே

ஸம்ப்ரீதயே த்விஜாதீனாம் க்ருஹினாம் வ்ருத்திஹேதவே

 

Bahir  gacha man manasa pithroonaam  thushti  hethve

Sampreethaye   dwijaadhaanaam  graheenaam   vruthi  hethave

 

To those  pithrus   who  have gone out  and  to their satisfaction

And also  for  satisfaction of Brahmins and for improvement  of house holders chant Swadha

 

7. நித்யா த்வம் நித்யரூபாசி

குணரூபாசி சுவ்ரதே

ஆவிர்பாவஸ்திரோபாவ:

ச்ருஷ்டௌ ச ப்ரளயே தவ

 

Nithyaa  thwam  nithya    roopaasi

Guna  roopasi  suvrathe

AAvirbhava   sthiro bhava

Srishtou   cha  pralaye  thava

 

Swadha  , you are for ever, have permanent form

Have  form of good, you are  foreve

From creation   you are  permanent

From time of creation   to final deluge

 

8-ஓம் ஸ்வஸ்தி நமஸ்வாஹா

ஸ்வதா த்வம் தக்ஷிணா ததா

நிரூபிதா சதுர்வேதே

ஷட்ப்ரஸஸ்தாஸ்ச கர்மிணாம்

 

Om swasthi   nama   swaha

SWadha  thwam  dakshinaa  thadhaa

Niroopitha  chathur vede

Shad  prasaaastha  karminaam

 

Om you  are  Swasthi,you are swaha ,

You are swadha  and also  dakshinaa

You are the   proof  of four Vedas

And  very famous  for those  doing six karmas

 

9. புராசீத்வம் ஸ்வதா கோபீ

கோலோகே ராதிகா சகீ

த்ருதோரஸி ஸ்வதாத்மானம்

க்ருதம் தேன ஸ்வதா ஸ்ம்ருதா

 

Purasi thwam  swadha  gobi

Goloke   Radhika sakhi

THrithorasi  swadha  aathmaanam

Kritham  thena  swadha  smrutha

 

In earlier days  swadha  , you  were  gopi

In Goloka (heaven of vaishnavites)   you   are friend  of Radha

Oh Swadha      you were  in soul of Krishna

And so you were  called  Swadha

 

10. இத்யேவமுக்தா ஸ ப்ரும்மா

ப்ரும்மலோகே ச சம்சதி

தஸ்தௌ ச சஹசா சத்ய;

ஸ்வதா சாவிர் பபூவ ஹ

 

Ithyevam   ukthaa   sa brahmaa

Brahma loke  sa sasathi

Thasthow cha  sahasaa   sathya

SWadha  chaavir  babhoova  ha

 

Like   this  after  telling Brahma

Sat  in Brahma loka

As soon as he dit it ,

The  true goddess  swadha  appeared before him

ததா பித்ருப்ய:ப்ரததௌ

தாமேவ கமலானனாம்

தாம் சம்ப்ராப்ய யயுஸ்தே

பிதரஸ்ச ப்ரஹர்ஷிதா:

 

Thadhaa   pithrubhya   pradha dow

THaameva   kamala  aanannam

Thaam   samprapya yayusthe

Pitharscha praharshithaa

 

When she  appeared before Brahma

The lotus  fced one  gave

Her  to the  pithrus and

They  became  happy and contented

 

 

12-ஸ்வதா ஸ்தோத்ரமிதம்புண்யம்

யஸ்ருனோதி சமாஹித:

ஸ ஸ்நாத:ஸர்வ தீர்தேஷு

வேத பாடபலம் லபேத்

 

SWadha  stotram idham punyam

Ya   srunothi  samahitha

SA  snana  sava  theertheshu

Veda  pada phalam labeth

 

If this holy  prayer  to Swadha

Is heard with   attention

They will get effect of  taking bath in  all sacred waters

And also get  effect of learning  four vedas
