1.Vathalayesa  nin nirmalya  vigraham  ,

Pathivai  kani kandu koopaan  moham,

Nin thirumeniyil   vaka charthidumbol ,

Nin Thirumumbil namikkan   Moham.

1,I  long to see you first in the early morning,

Oh Guruvayurappa  with all your previous day decorations in tact,

I long  to salute  you in your divine   presence  ,

When they apply  Vaka powder  on you to remove the oil.

2.Srivelikkai   purathekku ezhnnellumpol,

AA vigraham kumbidaan    yen  moham,

Chenthamaraksha  kadaksha  melkaanaai ,

Pantheeradi poojakku   yethaan  moham

I long to salute     your  idol , when,

It is taken out for  the divine  procession around   the temple,

I long   to see  the Pantheeradi pooja around eight o clock ,

So that  I would be seen by the God who has eyes like red hibiscus flower.

3.Uchathil nin  namam ucharichu   ucharichu,

Ucha poojakku   vanangaan moham

SAndhyakkai nin deeparadhana  velayil,

Yenennum pangu  cheraan en  Moham.

3, I long to salute   you at the Noon Pooja,

After  loudly  chanting and chanting your name  ,

4.Athazha pooja thozhuthum nin tripugaykku,

1.Indira hrudayanandam   vrundaraka  Ganarchitham,

Nanda soonum aham   vandhe mandhara   suma  malinam

1.I salute   that son of Nanda who wears   the garland of Mandhara,

Who makes the mind of Goddess  Lakshmi happy and  who is worshipped  by people of Vrundavan.

2.Mandhahasanvitha  mukham , Chandra bimbomananam,

Vrindhavana  sthitham   vandhe sundaram  nanda nandanam

2. I salute  the pretty son of Nanda   who lives in Vrindavana,

Who has a face  which can be compared to moon decorated by a smile  

3.Dhara chakra   gadhaa padma  daram  , dharadhara  prabham,

Surasura ganair vandhyam   , purana purusham bhaje.

3.I sing and pray that  primeval  lord   who is  saluted by  devas and Asuras ,

Who carries the conch, wheel  , mace  and flower  and who  shines like clouds.

4.Kamsa varana  panchasyam  samsararnava  tharakam,

Kesavam   paramanandam   srisam  vandhe  Janardhanam,

4.I salute  Lord Janardhana   who is Kesava , who is divine  joy  ,

Who made Kamsa and his elephant cross   the ocean of Samsara.

5.Vrushni vamsa samudbhootham  , Krishna  kandha  vilochaam,

Krishnaa thapa  haram, vandhe   krishnam  Thibhuvaneswaram.

5. I salute Krishna the lord of the  three  worlds, who destroyed sufferings of Panchali  ,

Who was   born in  the clan of Vrushnis  , who has  black cloud like eyes.

6.Poothanaa  prana  hantharam   , daitheya  kula  nasanam,

Veda vedhyam aham vandhe   satha kruthu  madhanthakam.

6.I salute the Lord saluted by Vedas , who destroyed   the pride  of sAthakruthu  ,

Who took away the soul of Poothana  and destroyed the clan of  Dithi.

7.Kalindhi pulinaa  vasam , thulasi malya  dharinam,

Kalambodha prabham   Krishnam Nalinaksham maham   bhaje.

7.I  sing about the  lotus eyed  Krishna  , who shines like black water rich cloud,

Who lived on the banks of Yamuna river   , and who wears  Thulasi garland.

8.Padmajaa lalitha  pada  padmam , Padma  Vibhooshanam,

Padmanabham maham vandhe  , padmaksham padma  dharinam

8.I salute  that Padmanabha    who has lotus like eyes  , who holds the  lotus flower ,

Whose lotus like feet is   fondled by the  lotus born Lakshmi   and who is the ornament to lotus flower.

Go gopa vrundhair anugamyamanam,

Gopala balam Hrudhi Bhavayami

1,I  think in mind  that cowherd boy  ,

Who has decorated his  forehead with musk,

Whose lotus like feet is worshipped  by Gopis  ,

And who is followed by  crowds of cows and gopas.

2.Dharadharoddharana lolupam tham,

Dharadharabham   dharani sutharim,

Dhara dharm  bimba phaladharoshtam,

Dharapathim   Madhavameva  noumi.

2.I salute that Madhava   who is the lord of earth,

Who is engaged  in uplifting the earth,

Who is of the colour of the cloud , who is the enemy of son of earth,

Who lifts the earth     and has lips like red BImba fruit.

3.Maheeramasamsritha padha  yugmam,

Mayura pinchavali   shobhi moulim,

Mahendra vandhyam  madhu vairininam tham ,

Mahendra neelabham aham smarami

3.I am meditating on the god of the  blue colour of  Mahendra   gem,

Whose lotus feet is  embraced  by mother  earth and Goddess Lakshmi.

Whose crown shines  by the  peacock feathers  he wears,

Who is saluted by Indra   and who is the enemy  of Madhu

4.Vrundavanastham   pasu gopa   gopee ,

Vrundhair  asritham , Sundara mindhiresam,

Vrndarakair vanditha  pada yugmam,

Vandhe sadaa   nanda sutham mukundam,

I  always salute  Mukunda  the son of Nanda ,

Who lived in Brindavan , who is depended to by,

Cows, gopas   and gopis , who is the pretty king of Indra ,

Whose   lotus like feet are  worshipped by eminent people.

5.Padmekshanam  padma kara prashobham,

Padmalaya lalitha  pada padmam,

Padmasanadhyair  vibudhair  praneetham,

Padmananam  Padmadaram namani

5.I salute  the one with lotus like face  , who carries a lotus,

Whose   eyes are like lotus flower, who shines  with lotus in hand ,

Whose  lotus like fet are fondled by Goddess Lakshmi sitting on lotus  ,

Who is worshipped   by great ones like those  sitting on a lotus.

6.Nagendra paryanga sayanaam eesam,

Nagendra kanyaa  sahajam, Madhugnam,

Nagendra seersharpitha Pada  Padmam,

Naggari vaham   hrudhi bhavayami

6. I think in my mind he  who has enemy of   snaka as his steed,

Who is god who sleeps on the bed of the king of snakes,

Who is  the friend of the daughter of the mountain, Who killed Madhu,

Who has a lotus feet  where the king of snakes  salutes.

7.Maha varaha akruthi mathavadgam,

Mahee dharm  , Madhavam , aadhi devam,

Mahahi paryanahale  sayaanam,

Mahanubhavam , Manasa smarami

7. I think in my mind   the great gentleman,

Who assumed   the form of a  great boar  .

Who lifted  the earth , Who is madhava , who is primeval God ,

Who sleeps   on the  bed of the  great serpent.

8.Sada shiva  aaraditha   eesa meede,

SAdaa  sarojthbhava sannathagrim,

Sudha sanendraathmaja saradhim tham,

Sudhamna datha akhila  sanpadougham.

8.I praise   the God  who is worshipped by Sada  Shiva  ,

In  whose presence   the one born out of lotus sits  ,

Who drove the chariot of the   son of DEvendra  ,

And who was responsible    for all wealth of  Sudhama.

1,I   salute   that   god  who is the enemy  of ocean of Samsara.

Who  was born in    the prison of Kamsa.

2.Gokula vasikalkku   aananda  moorthiyaam,

Lokaika  Nadhaa  janan kumbidunnen

2. Of lord of the world  who   is the  one   who gave,

Great joy to those who live  in Gokula  , I bent  before you.

3.Vallaviyaakum   Yasodhakku puthranai  ,

Saleelam vaanone  kai thozhunnen.

3,I  salute j him who lived   as a sport   to,

Yasoda   who was   a   Gopi(Cowherd lady)

4.Ninne vadhippanai vannoru   poothana ,

Thanneyum  mukthyai theerthu neeyum.

4, You  made Poothana   also ,who  ,

Came to kill you, completely free.

5.Chatayi  vannoru   daithyaneyum  yere ,

Paatavamodu   vadhichu neeyum,

5.You also killed    that asura    who came  ,

As a cart to  kill you   with style.

6.Oothamerum  kodum kaththayi  vannoru,

Maaththane  kala purikku ayachu.

6.You sent   the outsider   who came  as,

Powerful cyclone to the   city of Yama.

7.Muththathu ninna   marutha  marangale ,

THethenye   pottich   veezhthi  pinne.

7.Later   without any mistake     you broke,

The Marutha   trees   in the courtyard.

8.Yakshadhipan thande   puthranmaarkkai   saapa,

Mokshavum  nalgi paranjayachu.

8.You then sent the sons of   king of Yakshas,

 After releasing them from the curse.

9.Gokulam vittu nee   vrundavanathilekku,

Aakulamenniye poi   pinne.

9,  Later without any problem    you left ,

Gokula and went to Brindavan.

10.Gokkale mekluvaan  gopalanmarothu,

Pokku thudangi   vanathilekkai.

10. For herding the cattle     you started  ,

Going to the forest along with cowherd boys.

11.Vathsa swaroopiyai              vannu angu ananjoru  ,

Vathsasurane   vadhichu neeyum

11. Then you killed   Vathsasura    who came  ,

To you   in the form   of  calf.

12.Pinne bakasuran kokkinde roopathil  ,

Vannan    avaneyum   konnu neeyum.

12, Then  Bakasura    came in the form of a stork,

 And   you killed   him also.

13.Ghoran aghasuran   vannu perum paambai  ,

Veeran  nee  mukthi   nee mukthi koduthu vennum.

13. Then the fearful Aghasura came  as a very huge snake,

And you are valorous   gave him salvation.

14.Mannu bakshichu   nee yennathu   kelkkave  ,

THinnam athu   arinjeeduvaanai,

15. Vai malar  thannilai   nokkiyorammakkum,

Unmayai  katti  nee  Viswa roopam.

14-15 Hearing that you   have eaten mud  ,

When your mother wanted to know   whether  it is true  ,

To the mother   who saw inside your   flower like mouth ,

You   really   showed her   mega form (Viswa roopa)

16.Ninne  pareekshippanudhaya than   nan mukhan,

Nannai   valanju  nin maayayale.

17.Ninnude  munnil  ananju   sthuthi cheithu,

Vandhichu   swalayam  pukku  pinne

16-17 . By using your  power of illusion     you  made  Lord Brahma ,

Wander here and there when he   wanted to test you,

 And then he  stood and praised   you,

Saluted  you   and went to his place.

18.Kalindhi thannil vasicha  phaneendranaam  ,

Kaliyan    than phana   sreniyin mel,

19,Narthanamaadi   nee angavan   thanum,

Angu  aarthanai nin mumbil  veenu kenu.

19, On the hood  of  Kaliya, the king of snakes ,

Who lived in   Yamuna  river  ,

You danced    and  because  of that he  ,

Became  greatly scared and fell  before you and begged.

20.Umbarkon   thannude dambam  kalanjoru,

THamburaan allo  nee   Divya murthe.

20. Are  you not the lord   who destroyed,

The pride  of Indra  , Oh divine  God.

21.Yitharam mayagal yethrayum  kaattiyor,

Uthama  purusha, Kai thozhunnen.

21. Oh   Great  Lord    who showed     all these,

Illusions  , I salute you.

1.I salute you  Lord Mahavishnu, God of Gods  , Lord of universe ,

Please  pardo my mistakes and become pleased with me  Oh Madhava.

2.Anargha rathna khachitham  , koti soorya  sama prabham,

Vandeham they  Mahavishno , kireedam meru sannibham.

I salute you Lord Vishnu   who wears a crown as Tall  as Meru,

Which is embedded  with  invaluable gems  and which shines like  one crore of Suns.

3.Mukura prabhayor Vishno  , sankranthal   thava  gandayo,

Vandhe   bahu gunee  bhootha  prabhe  makara  kundale.

3.Oh Lord Vishnu  , the  luster  of  mirror is transferred   to your neck,

And I salute  your Makara  ear globes which are   many times lustrous than that

4.Vana malaam aham vandhe   sarvarthu suma shobithaam,

Madhye  kadamba kusumaam   thava  vakshasi   aalmbineem.

4.I salute  your forest garland   though   t you are shining with flower all over  ,

Along with a  Kadamba  garland   in the middle   which hangs  on your chest.

5.Vandeham tham sindhu kanyaam, kreedamaanam thavorasi ,

Yasvayaa  kadaksha mathrena bhooyanthe  sarva sampadha

5.I salute the daughter of the ocean  who plays  on your chest,

Simply by her   one glance   I would be able   to get all prosperity.

6.Srivathsam angam vandeham   thava   vaksha   sthala  sthitham,

Kshamaa pareekshanaartham   yad mudrinam   Brugunaa  padaa

6. I salute  that Srivathsa   which is   situated  on your chest ,

Which was  given to you by sage  Brugu for testing your  patience .

7.Vandeham kausthubham rathnam  virajantham gale  thava,

Yajjatham  ksheera padhodhe madhidhath   deva danavai.

7. I salute   that gem Kausthubha   which shines on your  throat ,

Which was born out ofocean of milk   when it was churned by Devas and Asuras.

8,Vandhe shankham pAancha janyam  , naadha brahma mayam   thava ,

Yassabdha sravana  deva  sarve nasyanthi sathrave  .

8.I salute   your conch Pancha  janya which  fills you y up with divine sound,

And  as soon as its sound is heard by   devas  , their  enemies   would be killed.

9.SAhasra aadhithya   sankaasam  kala chakra marindhamam,

Sahasra aadhaaram  thadh vandhe   thava chakram sudarsanam,

9.I salute   your Sudarsana wheel , which is as lustrous as   thousand suns,

Which is the wheel of time  killing enemies  and is the  support for thousands.

10.Thava paanou  virajanthim  vande  Kaumodhakeem  gadhaam,

Yayaa   varaha vapushaa  hiranya sthaditha stvayaa.

10. I salute your mace called  Kaumodhaki   which shines in your hand  ,

With which   in your form as the boar  , you hit  Hiranyaa.

11.Thava hasthe  prasodantham  padmam padma kara  prabham,

Vandeham thath padmanabha, Sarva  kanmasha  nasanam,

11. I saluté   you Lord Padmanabha , in whose hands which shine like lotus,

Is  present   the lotus  flower   shining, which removes   all ills.

12.Vandha saarngam maha chapa, , drutham kare  thale thava,

Yasya janyadha maathrena sarva  muhyanthi Dhanava.

12.I salute    that great bow called Saarnga   which is held by your hand  ,

Which  if known to the Rakshasas,  make them  loose  their consciousness.

13,Vandeham than naabhi padmam , yasmin jaatho Pithamaha,

Yasminneva thapaschakre drushtum   tham Purushothamam.

13, I salute   the lotus  on your belly , from which was  born Lord Brahma  ,

Sitting on that stage  of meditation  he   sees you  , the Purushothama.

14,. Vandhe thaam   they yoganidhraam, sarvaabheeshta  pradhaayineem,

Sahasra naamnaa  prakhyaathaa  yaa jathaa  nanda  nandhini.

14. I   salute   your Yogic sleep  which is capable of fulfilling all desires,

And which is famous for having thousand names and later was born as   daughter of Nanda.

15.Peethambaram aham vandhe  thaptha  kanchana  sannibham,

Doorikare athyandhakaaram  yassvaabhaa  sarvathaa  sadhaa.

15. I salute   your yellow silk , which is like hot  molten  gold ,

And which removes great darkness as its luster reaches every  where  always.

16.Ksheerambodhim aham vandhe , yasmin setha  bhavaan sadaa ,

Yasmadeva  Maha Lakshmi jaathaa sarvaartha  Dhayini.

16. I salute   the ocean of milk   where you always lie down,

And from which was born Mahalakshmi  who gives all prosperity.

17.Paryangam they bhaje sesham aadhyam sankarshanam vicbhum,

Yasya swaasaani kalpanthe kurvath  akhila nasanam.

17.  I sing   about   your bed  which is  Adhisesha    who was born as  Lord SAnkarshana,

By whose breath  at the  final deluge   everything is destroyed.

18.Vandhe they vahanam  tharkshyam  suparnam  vinatha  sutham,

Yasthayo  ya sudhaam pathre  dathe  visha  vinasineem.

18.I salute your steed   the eagle called  Suparna which   was the son of Vinathaa,

Who with the pot of nectar  in his hand   gives  the destroyer of poison.

19.Viswambaram aham vandhe, medhinim   thava  kaminim,

Ya thwayaa  kiti roopena   hirayaadh   rakshithaa  puraa

19. I salute you who wears the universe  and whose   darling  is the earth,

And who   by his fearsome   form  saved her   from clutches of Hiranya.

20,Vandeham thulaseem punyaam , vandeham hari   chandana,

Vandhe  sarvaan Vishnu  bhakthaan  , vandhe  thwam kamala  pathim.

20. I  salute   the blessed ocimum , I salute   the  sandal paste  ,

I salute all devotees of Vishnu  and I salute the  Lord   of Goddess Lakshmi.

Thiru vaka charthinnu  samayamai,

Oru  bala suryan udicha kanakkinnu,

Angu uru shobhayengum  parannidunnu

1.The  divine  door of sanctum  of lord of Guruvayur has  opened ,

It is time to the   divine application of Vaaga  powder,
Just like a    young sun has   just risen up,

The luster of his form is  spreading everywhere.

2.Thozhuthittum thozhuthittum   mathiyennu  thonni kondu,

Yeluthalla  nadayil  ninnonnu maaraan,

Oru nokku koodi jnan kanette   yennu orthu,

Thiru mumbil  kai koopi ninnu   pokum.

2.Even after  saluting and saluting  , it is  difficult ,

To move away from the door feeling  it is enough,

Feeling that let me    see  at least once more  ,

We would be forced to stand saluting in his  divine presence.

3.Maalakal  illathe , alankaram illathe  ,

Bala gopala  nin divya  roopam ,

When  crowds of great sufferings come,

One after  another   and come near me ,

With mercy  please  look after  me.

2.Naraka thulyamaam   duritha   sindhuvil,

Maru kara kaanathu alayumbol,

Oru karam yekeettu  ivane kethane  ,

Guruvayur vaazhum bhagawane

2.Oh God who lives in Guruvayur  ,

In the ocean of sufferings similar to hell,

When I wander   unable to find the other shore  ,

Please give me one hand   and help me climb up.

3.Oru thunayinye  , vazhi kaanaathe  ,

Koorirulil pettu  jnan uzalumbol,

Oru  thari  vettam ivannu  nalgane,

Guruvayur vaazhum BHagwane

3.Oh God who lives in Guruvayur  ,

Without  any help , unable   to find my way ,

When I wandering in pitch darkness ,
please give  me a flash of lightning,

4.Karua kattuvaan iniyum thamasam,

Aruthe, Karavarna  Jagadheesa,

Garuda vahana  Pura hara priya ,

Guruvayur   vaazhum bhagawane

4. Oh God who lives in  Guruvayur .

Let there  not be   any more  delay,

In showing your mercy, Oh Lord of the colour  of cloud  , Oh lord of universe ,

Oh lord who  rides on Garuda, who likes   the city of Shiva.

5.Mani varnaa  , ninde thirumukha  padmam,

Kani kaanaan bhagyam    arulenam,

Paniyunnen   jnan   nin charana  pada pankajam,

Guruvayur vaazhum bhagawane.

5.Oh  god who lives in Guruvayur  ,

Oh gem coloued Lord please   grant me luck,

To see first your lotus like face before anything in a day ,

I am saluting    your   lotus  like  feet.

6.Adiyande  hruthil vasikkenam , peeli,

Mudi choodidum   ninde thiru roopam,

Padi padiyai   nin m padamarnidenam,

Guruvayur  vazhum bhagawane.

6.Oh God   who lives in Guruvayur,

Please  live inside my mind  and let,

Your divine form decorated  by a peacock feather,

Step by step take   me to your place .

7.Anavadhi dushta mruga jalamezhum  ,

Vanamathil chuththi alayumbol  ,

Kanivode neeraam vazi kaattidenam,

Guruvayur vaazhum Bhagawane

7.Oh God who lives in Guruvayur 

When I am wandering   in this forest  ,

Roamed by several cruel wild beasts,

With mercy show me the  right path.

8.Kaanmathellam nin roopamaakanam,

Kelpatho Venu Gaanavum,

Unmayonathinnu  arulene varam,

Guruvayur vaazhum Bhagawane

8.Oh God who lives in Guruvayur ,

Whatever I see should form,

Whatever I hear should be  the music from your flue,

Truthfully give  this boon to me.

9.Yennamillatha theththu kuththangal,

Kannaa  , cheithen jnan yengilum,

Vinnor naadhan nee  abhayam yekane.

GUruvayur   vaazhum bhagawane.

9.Oh God who lives in Guruvayur,

Though I have done   countless  crimes,

As well as errors  Oh Kanna,

As you arethe lord of heaven, please  give me protection.
