1.Punneri thannil   chellaa  budhi, iym pulan adakkam,

Thannalam  nadaa  thanmai , chanchalam  yelaaa  chitham,

Innuyir  chaalam yellam , iraivanin uru   yendru  oarthal,

Ninnadi   dhyana  yogam, nidham  yenakku  arul   cheivaaye

Please  grant me daily  , the mind   that does not go to evil acts,

Control of five sense organs, has   habit of not  desiring  only for  good of self ,

And have a  mind  that does not waver, thinking that   all  acts of all beings,

Are  the   forms of God   and  do  yoga  of meditation on your feet.

2.Manathinai  unnil oondri, vaazhvu  thazhvutha  pothum,

Mana nilai   chainthidaamal , vaaithathil    thrupthi yuthu,

Vinayinai yellam  un paal vittu  , oru  paththu  mindri,

Inithu vaazhnthida yenakku   un yinnarul   cheikuvaaye

Please  shower   your grace  on me so that, my mind does  not ,

Waver or bend, when there is a dip in my life’s   fortunes,

By   deeply fixing you  in my mind, getting contentment  in what I get,

Leaving    all  the karmas   to you,  being without   any attachment,

And  live   forever   sweetly   as well as   happily.

3.Yeppani  cheyyum poathum , yevvuna vunnum poathum,

Tharpanam , homam , dhanam, thapa  japam  pannum poathum,

Appane   avaththai  yellam , anbudam  un thaal  inayil,

Arppanam cheyyum  neermai   adiyanukku  arul chevvaye

Please bless me so  that during   whatever  job I do   and

whatever  Food that I eat or  whenever  I am  doing  tharpana,

Homa  , charity, penance  ,chanting, I am able to get ,

The ability  to offer   them all   at   your   twin feet.

4.Unnai   yekkalum yenthan  ulamathil  yenni   nindru un,

Ponnadi   saroruhathai  poththi namaskariththu,

Un  innarut kadalil   moozhki  , yevathinum  unnai kandu,

Dhanniyanaaki  vaazha  thamiyanukku arul cheivaaye

Please   bless me   to live   with all prosperity,

Thinking   of  you in my mind always,  praying your gold like ,

Lotus like feet and saluting it, drowning in the  ,

Sweet  ocean  of your  blessings and seeing you in all  things.

5.Yaan yenathu yendra garvam  anu valavenum , yenthan,

Manasam  thannil thondraa  vali, nilai peyaraa  dhairyam

Jnana  sadhanathile   vetkai, nanneri , guru  vanakkam,.

Dhana maa gunangal, yellam dhayavudan  arul cheivaaye

Please kindly bless  me    so that I    do not have  an atom  of pride,

In my mind thinking about me and mine, have  very    stable   courage,

Great  interest in  fruits of wisdom , good   habits ,

Respect    for the teacher  and great  habits like charity.

6.Viruppamum  veruppun indri , vinai  payan yelaam undhan,

Thirupadham thanil cherthu, trupthiyum  thiranum uththu,

Oruppavar  meethum dwesham uththidaa thanbe poondu,

THiruppani cheithu vaazha  thiruvarul   cheiguvaaye.

Please  kindly bless  me   so that , without  desire or hatred,,

I am able to offer   all the  result of fate   at  your divine   feet  and ,

Become    satisfied   and able and   develop no  hatred ,

Even on those who trouble me   and have only  love towards them.

1.Dhana Lakshmi

(Lakshmi  of  riches)

Pongu dhana  karathaal , porpudaya  chakkarathaal,

Yengum nalam tharukindra yezhir karathu  thamarayaal,

Thangukindra  kamalathil thalir adikal  than vaithaal,

ThaN karathaal  thaNmai tharu  dhana makale  , poththiyamma.

With hands overflowing with money, she  is  the o ne having a golden Chakra,

She  is one with pretty flower like hand, which grants  comfort in all directions,

She kept  her tender feet  on the lotus floer in which she lives.

Oh  Daughter of wealth  giving coolness  by  your  cool hand  , We are  saluting you mother.

2.Aadhi Lakshmi

Chothi mika udayaal, sombalatha  manam udayaal,

Thathiyarin pudai choozha Thaavi varum dharmikathaal,

Bhoothi migu   malaramaya   poorna  nal varaththal,

Aadhiyilum aadhiyale, aadhi thiru pothiyamma

She has  great luster , she has  mind without laziness,

She  is the follower  of Dharma  Surrounded   by  maids,

 She   grants  boons that   fills the   world with flowers,

Oh Goddess  who is most primeval , Oh first  Lakshmi  ,. I salute you.

3.Dhanya Lakshmi

YeN karathil  yerppudaya  ezhir  padaikal   yethavale,

Panpudaya   bhagawathiye, pala kadhayum  peththavale,

Kan padaitha bhayanaaka, kalippadaya  vanthavale,

Man chezhikka dhaniya  nel mani  maNi  thanthaai, pothiyamma

She   who holds in her eight hands  pretty suitable   weapons,

Oh Goddess  who is cultured, who has  got very many  stories,

Who has came to entertain us , because   we have  got eyes,

You gave us seeds of Paddy so that  earth  would improve  , I  salute  you.

4,Veera lakshmi

Soolamodu abhayathaal  , choozhchiyaththa   varadathaal ,

Kaalanvan  kaal nadungu, kadhir oliyin chakkarathaal,

Neela thirai   amudathaal, neengaa  nar   pukazhudayaal,

Maalavanaar  maNam  makizhum  veera thiru  poththiyamma

Along with trident she protects, She blesses without any tricks,

She holds the Lustrous Chakra  making God of death   shiver,

She  is like nectar  on blue sky, she has  great fame   which never goes,

She is  Veera Lakshmi   who makes mind of Lord  Vishnu happy  , I salute you

5.Gaja  Lakshmi

Thadaaga thamarayaal , thanmai  migu thava  vadivaal,

Adaa  athuyaramathai  azhikkindra   arul  adiyaal,

Vidaa  nar dhina  mazhayaal , vilangaanai   thuthi yadiyaal,

Padaaga kari  yivar vaal  pannadikal  pothiyamma.

She is the lotus of the lake  who has  cool form of penance,

She is the one who blesses  which destroys  never ending sorrow,

She  causes  continuous rain on good days, she is the devotee who prays Lords Ganesa,

She has an elephant flag  and has  sharp lines oh her poems   , I salute  you.

6.Santhana Lakshmi

Anbudayaal aru karathaal , annayilum annayaval,

Yinbudayaal  kedakathaal , yidar  neeekku  valudayaal,

Man pugazhin  malar  karathe makavudane   amuthudayaal,

Santhana  thai  , santhaana  perukku  udayai, pothiyamma

She is one with love, she  has six hands, she mother  greater than mother,

She is sweet , she  has a shield and a sword   that   removes our problems,

In her    very famous flower like hands she has a  baby as well as food,

She is sandal like mother and helps increase  of children, I salute you.

7.Vijaya  Lakshmi

VaALudane  saarangm , vaarpugazhin sudarasanavum,

AAludaya  kedayavum , aandarulum   yeN  karathi,

NaaLudane  naar pugazhum  naaranarkku   thamalitha,

Thaal malarum  thani vethri   thaaye  nee pothiyamma.

She has sword the Saranga bow   and the very famous Sudarsana  Chakra,

She has  Shield of a man   in her eight hand which rules,

 And over days she gave great form to Lord  Narayana,

Oh mother of victory who has  flower like feet , I salute you.

8.Aiswarya  lakshmi

Naarkarathu naayakiyaal  , naatthisayin nal  vilayaal,

Kaar megham poal  dhanathai  kaththidave peithiduvaal,

Noor pulavar tham mugathaal , noothanathin  oru vadivaal,

Paar paniyum  ayiswarya  paavayale , pothiyamma

She is the lady  with four hands,She makes happen good things  in all four sides.,

Just like  black cloud she would   shower wealth  , so as to protect it,

She resides  in face of great poets, She is single form of modernity,

Oh lady of prosperity  to whom  I salute  , I salute you.

Atta  thiru magalaai   arul veesum  annai pugazh,

Yitta veli  mangalathil   yirunthapadi   yirunthu uraippar,

Thutta  thuyar  tholaivekum , thunivu pugazh  arukaakum,

Mutta mutta   porul   kuvinthu  munnindru   vaazhnthiruvaar

For those who chant  sitting in a place , the  fame  of ,

The  eight   lakshmis   which wafts    with grace ,

The evil sorrow   would go very far off   and courage and  fame would come near,

And   huge amount of riches  will get accumulated and they would live  in the great way.

1.Vedha vedha roopini , Vedhanpaadu  Maamani,

Nadhamaana geethamum  nadukindra  nal mani,

Mathavathin   SAkthi nee  Maaran paadu  maalini,

Jothi jothiyaana nee Swarna kamakshi nee

Oh Goddess  who is form of Vedas, Who is a gem  about whom Lord  Brahma  sings,

Who is a good gem   who   wishes    the classical  music songs,

You are  the power of great  penance, You  are the Malini, who is sung by God of love,

You who is the  light of lights  is the  Golden Kamakshi.

2.Mangalathin nangaye , Mathiyanintha  mangaye

Pongukindra gangaye, ponniyaana  mangaye,

Yengumulla   sangai theera yennukindra  managaye,

Jothi jothiyaana nee Swarna kamakshi nee

Oh lady  of  auspiciousness , Oh lady who wears the moon,

Oh  ebbing   ganges  , Oh lady   who became  river Cauvery,

Oh Lady  who always thinks of ending sorrows   everywhere,

You who is the  light of lights  is the  Golden Kamakshi.

3.Inbamaana  vaazhvoli , iniya jnana   peoli,

Anbu aana ulloli, alakil jnana  peroli,

Thunbam ottum  thooya oli, thureeya jnana  peroli,

Jothi jothiyaana nee Swarna kamakshi nee

Oh sweet sound of life, Oh sweet  light  of wisdom,

Oh inner  light which is love  , Oh great light  of knowledge  in the mind,

Oh pure light  which drives away sorrow, Oh great light of thureeya,

You who is the  light of lights  is the  Golden Kamakshi.

4.Kalai malai  yiuravum nee , Kanchi thantha  vaazvu nee,

Velai   vendra vizhiyavan  vendi vantha  vaazhvu nee,

Solai  thantha  malarum nee, sokamatha  vaazhvu nee

Jothi jothiyaana nee Swarna kamakshi nee

You are  morning , evening and night  , you are the life  given by  Kanchipuram,

You  are the life   desired  and approached by  The God who won ov er time,

You are also   the flower given by garden  and life   without any  sorrow,

You who is the  light of lights  is the  Golden Kamakshi.

5.Karumbu villum yenthinaal , kavalai  theerkka aadinaal,

Virumbukindra mozhiyinaal , vinnai yaalu  vizhiyinaal,

Paravamaaki mukilumaaki payirumaana   vizhiyinaal,

Jothi jothiyaana nee Swarna kamakshi nee

She held the bow of sugarcane also, , she danced to remove our worries,

She  talks  the language we like, she is the one who rules  the sky,

She  became the season, cloud    as well as the crop,

You who is the  light of lights  is the  Golden Kamakshi.

6.Thanjai vantha thaayaval, thakaimai  thannai paaduvaar,

Panchamaththa  vaazhvodu , panpu mikka makavodu,

Manjalodu thilakamum  mana mikundha  malarodum,

Vinjukindra pugazhodum  vinnum mannum  aaluvaar.

She is  a lady who has  come to Thanjavur, people would sing her suitability,

And along with life without crop failure, along with a cultured  son,

Along with turmeric  , Thilaka  and along with   sweet smelling flowers,

With   ebbing    fame , they would rule   over earth   and heaven.

Oh mother  , Oh mother  Lalitha,

When you  blessed  me with a child,

All that  I shed was tears of joy  ,

Thanking you again    and again.

Oh mother  Saraswathi  , Oh Vaag devi,

Oh goddess   who sits  on white lotus,

Please   bless  my little  one , who blinks,

Hugs me  , but  who is not able   to talk  at all.

Oh mother  of all mothers, Lalitha,

Today I   did  shed tears  of sorrow,

When my little one  who loves me a lot,

Was  found to be different  and I wailed.

To save  him from the   cruel crocodile,

Please do come   to save  my little   child , who cries,

When   his angry  father  drags him and shuts in a room.

Oh Goddess  Lalitha  , you too   are  a mother  like me,

All the   tears   I had  have  dried and  unable  to stifle the pain,

To make my little one usual , I do sob   with out any more tears,

   Six hundred   years before  Tajmahal was  built  by Shahjahan, A chozha king  Rajendran built  a memorial to his   step mother  “Pancha Maha dev Iswaram  i”(Pancha maha devi palli padai kovil –temple  of  the memorial  of  Pancha maha devi)  .The temple is now in a dilapidated    condition .It is near  a small village   called  Patteswaram .Interstingly Raja  Raja handed over his kingdom to his son, built  a  small palace(called Chozhar  Maligai)    and spent his  life there  looking at  the memorial  he has built  .A very detailed  write up about this temple   along with lots of photos  is available in
