பால சுப்பிரமணியனே வா - இங்கு
இச்சை எல்லாம் உன்மேல் வைத்தேன்
எள்ளளவும்ஐயமில்லை –

 

Pachai  mayil vaahanane-Shiva,

Bala subrahamanyane vaa-ingu

Ichai yellam  un mel  vaithen,

Yellalavum  ayyamillai

 

Oh Lord  who rides on green peacock,

Oh Shiva  Bala Subrahamanya,

Here I have kept all  my desire on you

There  is not  even mustard grain doubt  about it

கொஞ்சும் மொழியானாலும் - உன்னைக்
கொஞ்சிக் கொஞ்சிப் பாடிடுவேன் - இங்கு
சர்ச்சை எல்லாம் மறைந்ததப்பா - எங்கும்
சாந்தம் நீறைந்தப்பா - (பச்சைமயில்)

 

KOnjum  mozjhiyaanaalum  -unnai,

Konji konji   paadiduven-ingu

Charchayellam  marainthathappa-yengum

Saantham nirainthathappa   (Pachai mayil)

 

If it it is a lisping  language,

I will lisp and lisp  and sing about you

All  discussions  have disappeared-all places,

Are  filled  up with peace oh lord (green peacock)

வெள்ளமது பள்ளந்தனிலே பாயும்
தன்மை போல உள்ளந்தனிலே - நீ
மெள்ள் மெள்ள புகுந்து விட்டாய் எந்தன்

Mella mella  pugunthu  vittai, yenthan

Like  water flowing  to ditches

You with the same  type of poverty

Entered  in to my   heart, all my

Deceits  have got diluted (green peacock)

நெஞ்சமதில் கோவில் அமைத்தேன் அதில்
நேர்மை என்னும் தீபம்   வைத்தேன் - நீ
செஞ்சிலம்ப கொஞ்சிட வா மருகா
சேவற் கொடி மயில் வீரா - (பச்சைமயில்)

 

Nenjam athil  kovil  amaithen-athil

Nermai yennum  depam vaithen  -nee

Chenchilamba  konjida  vaa  marukaa

Chevar  kodi    mayil veeraa  (Pachai  mayil)

 

I made a temple   in my mind-and in that,

I kept a lamp   called  honesty-oh nephew

With anklet sounds and lisping  you come , Hey peacock hero( Green peacock)

Aaruthalai   tharum   devaa-nee,

Yeru mayil   yeri varuvai  -Murukaa

Yengum  nirainthavane  (Pachai  mayil)

 

Oh Lord with   six camp houses-Oh God,

Who grants   me   solace –you

Please  come  climing on the peacock

Oh Muruka  who has filled up everywhere (Green peacock)

If we  recite thiruppavai

 

மார்கழி பிறந்துவிட்டால்

   மகளிர்க்குக் கொண்டாட்டம்

 

Margazhy   piranthu  vitttaal

Makalirkku  kondattam

 

If  month of  Margazhy(November-december/Dhanu)  is born

It is  festival for ladies

 

   விதம் விதமாய்க் கோலங்கள் –கிளியே

   வீதியிலே இழைத்திடுவர்

 

Vidham  vidhamai  kolangal –kiliye

Veethiyile  izhaithiduvar

 

Types  and types  of Rangoli –Oh bird

They  will   draw  in the street

 

சின்னஞ்சிறு பாலகர்கள்

    சீக்கிரமே துயிலெழுவர்

 

Chinnam chiru  balakarkal

Seekirame   thuyilezhuvar

 

Very  small  boys

Would  wake up  early

 

    பொங்கல் கிடைக்குமென்று –கிளியே

   போய் போய்ச் சாப்பிடுவார்

 

Pongal  kidaikkum yendru  -kiliye

Poi poi   chappiduvar

 

Knowing that   they would get pongal-oh bird

They wil go  again and again   and eat

 

கன்னியர்கள் நோன்பிருப்பர்

    காதலர்கள் காத்திருப்பர்

 

Kanniyarkal  nonbituppar,

Kadhalarkal  kaathiruppar

 

The unmarried girls  would  observe  penance

The lover  boys   would   wait

 

    ஊதல் காற்று க்கெல்லாம் –கிளியே

    பாதகமே செய்திடுவர்

 

OOthal kaathukkellam –kiliye

Pathakame  chiethiduvar

 

To all  the  cold  winds-oh bird

They will only harm

 

பக்தர்கள் குழுமிடுவர்

    பலப்பல நாமாக்கள்

 பஜனைகள்  செய்திடுவர் –கிளியே

   பாடியே போற்றிடுவர்

 

Baktharkal  kuzhumiduvar

Pala pala  namakkal

BHajanaikalcheithiduvar-kiliye

Paadiye  pothiduvar

 

The  devotees  will crowd

Various , various names  of God

They   will  sing  and pray-Oh bird

They  will sing and praise

திருப்பாவை செப்பினாள்

   திருவுக்கும் திருவான

   நாரணனுக் களித்தாள்  —கிளியே

   நாச்சியார் திருமொழியும்

 

 THiruppavai   cheppinaal

THiruvukku  thiruvaana

Narananukku  alithaal-kiliye

Nachiyar  thiru mozhiyum

 

She chanted  Thiruppavai

Gave it  to Narayana ,

Who is  divine  among divines-oh bird

And also  Nachiar thirumozhi

 

கோதையின் திருவடிக்கே

    கோடியாய் நமஸ்காரம்

 

KOthayin  thiruvadikke

Kodiyai namaskaram

 

To divine  feet  of Kodhai

Crores  of salutations

 

    திருவடி பணிந்து நான்—கிளியே

    திருப்பாவை வேண்டினேன்

 

THiruvadi paninthu naan –kiliye

THiruppavai  vendinen

 

Bowing  to her  divine  feet

I requested  for Thiruppavai

 

என்தாய், இனியவளாய்,

    எனக்கே  அருள்  என்றாள் !

 

Yen thai  , iniyavalai

Yenakke   arul  yendraal

 

My mother  becoming sweet,

Told  me to chant  it for her only

 

   திகட்டாக் கிளிக்கண்ணி —கிளியே

   திருப்பாவை சொல்லுகிறேன்

 

THigatta  kili kanni  -kiliye

THiruppavai    chollugiren

 

The never  boring  nird song-Oh bird

I chant  thiruppavai

 

அதிகாலை எழுந்திருந்து

ஆற்றில் முங்கி நீராடி

 

Athi kalai  yezhunthirunthu

AAthril  mungi  neeraadi

 

Waking   up  very early morning

Drowning   in water and  taking bath

 

நோன்பு தொடங்கிவிடில் —கிளியே

நாரணன் அருளிடுவான்

 

Nonpu   thodangividil –kiliye

Naaranan   aruliduvaan

 

If we  start the penance  -oh bird

Lord  Narayana    would  bless you

 

நோன்புக்கு வேண்டுவது

நாரணன் தாள் தொழுது

 

Nonpukku   venduvathu

Naranan   thaaal thozhuthu

 

The   needs  of penance

After  saluting    the feet of lord Narayana

 

நெய்பால் தவிர்த்துக் —கிளியே

மையும் ,பூவும் தள்ளி

 

Nei paal  thavirthu-kiliye

Mayyum   , poovum  thalli

 

Avoiding   ghee  and milk-oh bird

Giving  up flowers  and eye liner

 

செய்யாதன செய்யாமல்

பொய் வார்த்தை கூறாமல்

 

Cheyyathana   cheyyamal

Poi  varthai  kooraamal

 

Not doing  what  should  not be done

Not telling any lie

 

உய்வதற்கு வழியென்று—கிளியே

உள்ளதைத் தானம் செய்

 

Uivatharkku   vazhiyendru-kiliye

Ullathi dhanaam  chei

 

Saying it is the  way to win-oh bird

Give  in charity what  you have

 

உத்தமனின் பேர்பாடி

உகந்த நோன்பிருந்தால்

 

Uthamanin  per paadi

Ukantha  nonbu  irunthaal

 

If we   sing   the name  of  great God,

And if we  observe   suitable penance

 

பசுக்கள் வள்ளல்கள் –கிளியே

பாரெங்கும் செல்வங்கள்

 

Pasukkal  vallalkal-kiliye

Paarengum   selvangal

 

Cows are philonthrophists –oh bird

All  over the world they are wealth

 

பஞ்சுபோல் மேகங்கள்

தஞ்சம் அடையும் கடல்

 

Panju  poal  mekangal

THanjam   adayum  Kadal

 

The clouds   are  like  cotton,

They reach  the sea for protection

 

கடலின் நீரெல்லாம் –கிளியே

கார்காலப் பெருமழைகள்

 

Kadalin neerellam –kiliye

Kaar kaala  peru  mazhaikal

 

All the   water of the ocean-oh Bird

Are  huge rains   of  the rainy  season

 

மின்னல் ஆழி, இடிசங்கம்

மேன்மேலும் சரமழைகள்

 

Minnal Aazhi , idi  sangam

Men melum   sara mazhaikal

 

Lightning , ocean, thunder Joining rivers

More  and more , huge  rains

 

எங்கும் செலுத்தும் கோதண்டம்–கிளியே

எங்கள் மகிழ்வே நீராட்டம்

 

Yengum   cheluthum  Kodandam  -Kiliye

Yengal   magizhve  Neeraattam

 

The  kodanda  which can  be sent any  where-oh bird

Our joy  is play in water

भक्तार्जन_युगलचरण तारण_भव_पार ॥३॥

Bhaasvara Bhaava-Saagara Cira Unmada Prema-Paathaara |
Bhakta-Arjana-Yugala-Caranna Taaranna-Bhava-Paara ||3||

 

Oh shining ocean  of divine  emotions, grant me that  divine  madness  also

Devotees  salute your twin feet and cross  the ocean of  samsara

जृंभित_युग_ईश्वर जगदीश्वर योगसहाय ।
निरोधन समाहित_मन निरखि तव कृपाय ॥४॥

Jrmbhita-Yuga-Iishvara Jagad-Iishvara Yoga-Sahaaya |
Nirodhana Samaahita-Mana Nirakhi Tava Krpaaya ||4||

 

Oh manifestation  of God of this  Yuga, Oh God of universe, due  to your  yogic power
With the restrained  concentrated  mind and your grace I have  a glimpse  of your divine form

भञ्जन_दुःखगञ्जन करुणाघन कर्मकठोर ।
प्राणार्पण_जगत_तारण कृन्तन_कलिडोर ॥५॥

Bhan.jana-Duhkha-Gan.jana Karunnaa-Ghana Karma-Katthora |
Praanna-Arpanna-Jagata-Taaranna Krntana-Kali-Ddora ||5||

 

Oh solidified mercy, oh practitioner of hard  spiritual  journey,  break  the sorrow of your devotees
You have  dedicated  your  soul to universe , to cut ties  of Kali age and  cross over  samsara

वञ्चन_कामकाञ्चन अतिनिन्दित_इन्द्रिय_राग ।
त्यागीश्वर हे नरवर देह पदे अनुराग ॥६॥

 

Van.cana-kaama-Kaan.cana Ati-Nindita-Indriya-Raag |
Tyaag-Iishvara He Nara-Vara Deha Pade Anuraag ||6||

 

Oh renouncer of passion  and gold and the detestable attachment  to sense  organs

Oh  god of sacrifice, the  best among men, renouncer of  body and fame

निर्भय गतसंशय दृढनिश्चयमानसवान ।
निष्कारण भकत_शरण त्यजि जातिकुलमान ॥७॥

Nirbhaya Gata-Samshaya Drddha-Nishcaya-Maanasavaana |
Nisskaaranna Bhakata-Sharanna Tyaji Jaati-Kula-Maan ||7||

 

Oh fearless one who has  no doubts and one with deep  determination in mind

The  refuge  of detached  devotees, the one who has  given away  the caste  and creed

सम्पद तव श्रीपद भव गोष्पद_वारि यथाय ।
प्रेमार्पण समदरशन जगजन_दुःख जाय ॥८॥

 

Sampada Tava Shrii-Pada Bhava Goss-Pada-Vaari Yathaaya |
Prema-Arpanna Sama-Darashana Jaga-Jana-Duhkha Jaaya ||8||

 

Your divine  feet  is the wealthand by devotion to you ocean of samsara  is like water  in hoof of cow

Your  shower  of divine love, sight  of all as equal makes the sorrow  of people  of world to disappear

नमो नमो प्रभु वाक्यमनातीत
मनोवचनैकाधार
ज्योतिर ज्योति उजल हृदिकन्दर
तुमि तमोभञ्जनहार ॥९॥
