The prayer of 12 names of Manasa
Translated BY

Goddess Mansa Devi is the revered Hindu goddess of
snakes and venom. She is worshipped for protection against snakebites, as well
as for fertility, healing, and prosperity. She is predominantly venerated in
East and Northeast India, though her prominence extends across the country. [1, 2]
Mythology and Lineage
Mansa Devi’s mythology is rich and varies by region.
She is often described as the daughter of the sage Kashyap and Kadru, the
mother of serpents, making her the sister of Vasuki, the king of Nagas. Other
traditions depict her as a mind-born daughter of Sage Kashyap or as the
daughter of Lord Shiva. She is married to Sage Jaratkaru and is the mother of
the sage Astika, who famously saved the Naga race from destruction.
Goddess Mansa Devi, the wish-fulfilling form of
Shakti, is primarily worshipped at two highly revered shrines in North India.
Both are heavily visited during the Navratri festivals
