वासुदेवमहेशात्मकृष्णावेणीधुनीस्वसा ।
स्वसाराद्या जनोद्धर्त्री पुत्री सह्यस्य गौतमी ॥ १ ॥
Vasudeva mahesathmas Krishna veni dhuniswasaa
Swaasaaradhyaa janodharthu puthri sahyasa Gauthami
She who is soul of Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva , the sister of river Krishnaveni
She who uplifts people who pray her , daughter of western ghats and is also called Gauthami
सुरर्षिवंद्या भुवनेनवद्या याद्यात्र नद्याश्रितपापहंत्री ।
देवेन या कृत्रिमगोवधोत्थदोषापनुत्यै मुनये प्रदत्ता ॥ २ ॥
Sura rishi vandhyaa , bhuvanena vandhyaa yadhyathra nadhyasritha papa hanthri
Devena yaa krithrimagovadhotha doshaa manushyai munaye pradhaathaa
She who is worshipped by devas and sages, she who is worshipped by world and who destroys sins of those who approach her
The great sages and gods have told that she removes even the sin of killing Cows
वार्युत्तमं ये प्रपिबन्ति मर्त्या-यस्याः सकृत्तेऽपि भवन्त्यमर्त्याः ।
नन्दन्त ऊर्ध्वं च यदाप्लवेन नरा दृढेनेव सवप्लवेन ॥ ३ ॥
Vayuruthamam prabhibanthi marthya yasyaa sakruthepi bavanya marthyaa
Nandantha oordhva cha yadhaplavena naraa drudameva swaplavena
A touch of air wafting over her or drinking of a drop of her,-if d by human being
And those who take a dip in her waters would always definitely drowned in bliss
दर्शनमात्रेण मुदा गतिदा गोदावरी वरीवर्ति ।
समवर्तिविहायद्रोधासी
मुक्तिः सती नरीनर्ति ॥ ४ ॥
Darsana mathrena mudhaa gathidhaa Godavari varivarrthi
SAmavarthi ihayadrodasi mukthi sathinarinarthee
Just seeing Godavari would help us cross the ocean of samsara happily
She is impartial and capable of providing salvation and freedom from repeated births
रम्ये वसतामसतामपि यत्तीरे हि सा गतिर्भवति ।
स्वच्छान्तरोर्ध्वरेतोयोगोमुनीनां
हि सा गतिर्भवति ॥
५ ॥
Ramye vasathaama sathaamayee yatheere saa gathirbhavathi
Swachantharo dwarithoyogomuneenaam hi saa gathir bhavathi
She is pretty and those who live on her shore would find their way
And Brahmacharis, yogis and saints with pure mind of the shore would also find their way\
तीव्रतापप्रशमनी सा पुनातु महाधुनी ।
मुनीढ्या
धर्मजननी पावनी नोद्यताशिनी ॥ ६ ॥
THeevra thapa prasamani saa punathu maha dhuni
Muneedyaa dharma janani pavani nedhya thasini
She calms down very severe suffering , she purifies great noises
She is holy mother to all sages, the purifying and
सदा गोदार्तिहा गंगा जन्तुतापापहारिणी ।
मोदास्पदा
महाभंगा पातु पापापहारिणी ॥ ७ ॥

Maha bangaa paathu papa haarini
Godavari
is the destroyer of all diseases and like
ganga puts an end to sin and pain
It is
cause of joy and the great differentiator protects and destroys sin
गोदा मोदास्पदा मे भवतु वरवता देवदेवर्षिवन्द्या ।
पारावाराग्र्यरामा जयति यतियमीट्सेविता विश्ववित्ता ॥ ८
Godhaa Modhaspadhaa may bhavathu varavathss , deva dearshi vandhyaa
Paaraavaaraagriya rama jayathi Yathiyameet sevithaa viswavithaa
Godhavari is the cause of joy and let it become boon giver to devas and sages who worship it
She is the greatesy among all sacred rivers and hail to her who is served by sages and scholars and is universal
पापाद्या पात्यपापा धृतिमतिगतिदा कोपतापाभ्यपघ्नी ।
वंदे
तां देवदेहां मलकुलदलनीं पावनीं वन्द्यवन्द्यां ॥ ९ ॥
Paapaadhyaa
pathya paapaa, druthi mathi gathidhaa , kopa thapabhyapaghni
Vandhe
thaam deva dehaam
mala kula dalanem Paavaneeem Vandhya vandhaam
She is
eradicator of sins of great sinners, she shows way to fast intellectuals, and burns anger pain
and fear
I salute
her with godly body who eradicates dirt and sins, she is purifier and is suitable
for
saluting
