1.Arivom a, arivom  Guruvin  Mahimai

Velvom vaazhvin vemmayaam   varumai

Panivom panivom  pavithra  Padhame

Peruvom  vaazhvil   perinba  padhame

 

WE know, we know  , the   greatness of  Guru,

We will win over poverty, the heat  of life,

We will bow, we will bow, the holy feet,

We will get   the status  of divine  joy  of life

 

2.Kanchi nagar  kamakshi  dasanin,

Karuna  sagara  kadalil  mithanthida

Kalamellam   mana kavalaikal  indriye

Kaliyayum   vendre karai  chernthidalaam

 

To float in the  ocean of sea of mercy,

Of the  slave  of  Kamakshi of city  of Kanchi,

Without worries of the mind, all over the time,

Winning  over Kali age, we can reach  the shore

 

3.Kanchi managar   ekamban nizhal  amar,

Karpaka  tharu guru kazhaladi  paninthida

Kama krodha  mayayaikal  pokkiye

Karkandaam vaazhvu    arulvaar    Guruve

 

When we  salute the feet  of Guru  who is like  Karpaka tree,

Who  is  sitting under  the  Shadow  of Ekambara  Nadha

That Guru will remove   passion  , anger  and illusion,

And give  us a life   which is as  sweet as  Sugar  candy

 

4.Kanchi managar  Sankara  peedathil,

Kan kanda   deivathin   sannathi  chernthida

Kaathru  uruvai  vanthu uyirai  kaathe-Karma  vinai,

Karaithe arulvaar  Guruve

 

On the  Sankara Peeta of the   great city of Kanchi,

If we  reach the sannidhi of the  God who is in front of our eyes,

The Guru would  come in form of wind, protect our life,

Dilute   the fate  of our Karma and bless us.

 

Kuvalayam kaakkum  Guruvukku  oru  kummi paadal

The kummi song to the Guru who protects   the world.

(Kummi  is the type of  group dance  by girls where ,

Thety clap or beat  two sticks and move round and round)

 

1.Aadungadi  kummi aadungadi, kanchi,

Guru  namam   cholli   aadungadi

Paadungadi pothi  paadungadi-Kanchi,

Guruvin pugazh paadi   aaungadi

 

Please dance  , dance  Kummi,

Dance   telling name of Guru  of Kanchi,

Sing, sing  in praise , the fame  of

The guru  of Kanchi   and dance.

 

2.Aadiya padhathin    adi paninthe-Dhinam,

Vadiya manam  athai   vendriduvom

Thediya porul  thanai thanthu  arulum deiva,

Kaladi  paninthe kalippuruvom

 

Saluting   the feet  of the saint who danced,

Daily   we will win over  the  faded  mind,

By  bowing before  the feet   which gives  us,

The thing   we searched, we would become  joyous

 

3.Kodi surya Chandra  prakasame-kannil

Koodi arulum karunyame

Koodi paadi   dhinam  kumbittavar  padham-mannil,

Noi  nodi indriye valam peruvom

 

Oh luster  of a  crore of sun and moon

Oh kindliness who comes before us and blesses

To  those   who joined   and sang and danced  before you,

No sickness  or disability will come  and we will  get prosperity

 

4.Naadiye vanthavar nanmai pera-saptha,

Naadi arinthu   arul purivare

Nodiyinil  nam vinai  theertharulum –Kanchi

Nadamadum  deivathin   adi  panivom

 

Oh Guru who blesses  those  come wishing to see you,

After  knowing their seven Naadis so that they  get all that is good,

We will salute   the feet of the  God of Kanchi,

Who moved about and  removed our fate within a second,

 

5.Thedi thirinthome  dhinam thorum-Vaazhvil,

Thediyathenna vendru  ariyaathe,

Thediye chendru   arul  pethriduvom-Kanchiyil,

Thedi  vanthorkku   arul  deivathaye

 

We wandered   daily  searching, without knowing,

What we are searching  in this life,

We will  search   and get  his blessing-the god,

Who blessed those  who came  in search  of him.
