(Here is a prayer  drenched in devotion describing  the  mental worship of the Mother Goddess )

 

1.

Karumbu  villendhi  kanayaam  malar  iynthum  kayyil  yendhi

Virumbiye   iru karathil  pasangusathai  yenthi

Arumbum  ila nakayum  , anbu  thathumbum   malar  vizhikalum

Yen irumbu  manam  thannai  , kantham poal  eerthathammaa

 

Holding  the sugar cane  bow  as well  five  flower arrows,

With desire holding   the rope and goad in both her  hands,

With budding smile, with flower like eyes  ebbing with love,

These   are attracting my  steel like  mind  like  magnet

 

2.Padhamalar  chilambolikka pakshamudan  vanthu

Adiyen idhaya malar peedam thanil irunthu  arul cheivaye

Udhaya ravi pondra undhan  udal oliyaa; yen,

Madhamenum   irulakathi makizhnthu yenai kaappaye

 

Coming with desire  with anklets of flower like  feet  making sound

You would   come and sit on the seat of flower like mind of mine

With the luster of your body  resembling the  rising sun

Please remove the darkness   called pride and you please  protect me with joy

 

3.Sirasenum   sri purathil, chinthamani  grahathil

Aravindha  ithazhkal   aayiram  konda   sri chakramenum

Simmasanathil , aranudan  iykkyamai amarnthu  arulvai  thaaye

 

On the head called  SRipura  in the  Chinthamani  house

In Sri chakra  having  thousand  lotus  petals,

On the throne oh mother, sit unified  with lord shiva.

 

4.Pavana  gangai neeraal  padhyam   alithen Amma

DEvarum virumbum  dhivyamaana   arkhyam   alithen

Poovathu kondu cheitha  panneeraa; aachamaneeyamum

Nee  vanthu   yethru kondu, yen yethiril  nirppaye

 

Oh Mother  I give you  water  for washing feet  with very  sacred  Ganges water

I also offered   scented water with flowers and grins which even  Devas like

Please come before me  and accept   the aachamaneeya  with

The athar water  made  of flowers and stand  before me

 

5,Uthamamaana  manthra  japam   cheitha kalasa  theertham

Saptha nadhikalin  theertham, gangabhishekam   cheithen

Chithan macizha, pannier  kalantha  chandanamum

Uthamiyr  unakku abhishekam panni paninthen

 

With  great  water  from pot over with superior  manthra  has been chanted

The water  of the seven rivers I offered and I anointed you with  water of ganges

With my  mind becoming happy, Oh great one , I mixed  sandal wood water  and Athar

And I   anointed you  and saluted   you,,.

6.Shudha vasthrangal kondu bhkthiyaaka  thudaithu

Putham puthiya chempattadai  kondu vanthen

Chithra  velai cheitha   ravikka   aninthu

Muthu rathna peedam thannil amarnthu arulvai , ammaa  nee

 

After  wiping you with grat devotion using clean cloths

I brought  very  new  red  silk   cloth

Weaing a  blouse  with   embroidered arts

Please sit on a seat  of pearls   and gemds, Oh  mother

 

7.Kasthuri thilakamodu, karu  vizhiketha mayyum

Basma  chinthooramittu, parimala gandham poosi

Hasthamum padha malarum azhakaaka  chem. Panjootti

Alankaram     palavum  cheithen, amma nee  yetharulvai

 

After putting thilak  of musk,  kajal suitable  to her black eyes

After  marking ash  and kumkum, after applying sweet smelling sandal  paste

To make hands   and flower  like feet,I applied red colour  using cotton

I did various other  decorations, Oh motherplease accept them

 

               

8. Manamigum  malarkalodu maalaikal  pala  punainthu

Vanakkamai   un kazhuthil  , sirasinil  niraya  chootti

Kanakkillaa  malarkalaal    un  karunai thiru namam  koori,

Inakkamai  un padhathil  archanai   cheithen thaaye

 

After making  many garlands using  flowers  with great  perfume

With salutations making you wear lot of them in your neck  as well as head

With innumerable  flowers, chanting your  merciful   divine  names

Oh mother  , I worshipped   with them  your feet  ,with  my full consent

 

9.Aranida  bhagam  amarnthai  pothri

AAruyir  anaithayum   padaithai  pothri

Imavaan  makalai  udhithai  pohri

EErezhu ulagamum  kaapai  pothri

Uyirukku   oliyoottum umaye  pothri

OOmaikkaruliya un arul  pothri

Yen thai  karpaka  kodiye  pothri

Ekambaran illarasi  pothri

Iynthu  malar  kanai  karathai  pothri

Ondriya thavathaa;   uyarnthai  pothro

Orayiram  per udayai  pothri

Kandhanai thantha  sundari  pothri

 

You sat on left  side  of Lord Shiva, praise

You created all the  living  beings  , praise

You were born as daughter  of Himalayas  praise

You would protect all the fourteen worlds , praise

Uma who  adds light   to the souls, praise

Yur blessing to the  dumb one  , praise

My mother  karpaka  climber plant  , praise

The better  half of Ekamranatha  , praise

Oh goddess with five flowers arrows  in her hand , praise

You rose up because of concentrated penance , praise

You have one thousand  names  , praise

Oh pretty one   who   gave skanda  , praise

 

10.Paar kadalil  palli kollum padmanabhan sodhariye

Palingu  sambraani  dhoopam parivodalithen, thaaye

 

Oh sister of Padmanabha  who sleeps on the  ocean of milk

With  kind emotions I offered you  incense of SAmbrani  in  crystal plate

 

11.Padmasanathil amarum  paripoorna peroliye

Pasuvin   nei dheepa, yethri  paadi  panithen thaaye

 

Oh  complete great light   who sat  on the lotus  pose

After lighting  lamp of cow ghee, I sang  and  bowed before you

 

12.Vagai vagayai  chithaanangal , iniya thatir, nei paal, thenum  ,

Pancha vidha  bakshanangal, paal pongal  paayasamum

Muppazham drakshayodu, muthintha  pala  kanikalum,

Oppilaa   suvai  miguntha mana migum  paanangalum

THuppithazh kethra nalla  vasanai thamboolangalum

Ippothu  kondu vanthen , yethru  kolvai  amma

 

Different types  of mixed rices  , sweet curd  , ghee , milk , honey

Five type of dishes, Milk , pongal  , payasam, three types of fruits,

Along with grapes, along with various matured fruitds, with sweet smelling drinks

With  incomparable taste, good perfume thamboolas  suitable for eating finaly

I have  brought them now  , Please  accept them mother

 

12,Aalam  karaithu  vaithu , alangara  dheepam yethri, kolangal itta

Thattil, karpooram yethri vaith seelamudan, undhanukku  seerai  arathi

Cheithen, neela kandan magizhum  nithya  kalyaniye

 

After  mixing  entire world, after  lighting decorative lamp, on plates   where

Rangoli is drawn, after lighting camphor, with   proper method, I showed you AArthi

Oh nithya kalyani who makes God shiva with blue neck happy.

 

13.Ratha gaja  thuragamodu rajopacharam cheithu , padham paninthu , aadi paadi

Parivodu kavari veesi ,satha koti prakasamana un charanathil ,

Idhaya malarial  unakku  anjali  cheithen thaaye

 

After   granting  royal treatment  with chariot , elephant  and horse, after  boing to your feet

After  singing and dancing, after  fanning you with kavari fan oh mother, with  the flower of

My heart with hundreds and crores  light,oh mother  I worshipped  you.

 

14,Pala  murai  valamai vanthu un padha  malar paninthu , pothri

Ulagellam niraintha unnai, ullathil poojai cheithu, chilir chilirthu

Ullam pongi, chinthanai malarkal thoovi, nalamudan unai paninthen,

Nayamthennai  kaappai  , ammaa

 

After coming several times circling you, after  bowing to your flower like feet,

After praising you, worshipping you in mind  you , who fills   the emtire   world,

Becoming ecstacic, with an ebbing mind, after offering you flowers , I  slauted you.

Please show mercy nd protect me.

 

15. manathinaal  vaakkinaalo, mathiyatha  cheikayaalo, un arul  maranthu \

Naayen, cheitha pizhai poruthu yennai  yethru kolvai ammaa

 

By mind or by words  or not properly thought  action, when this dog like person forgets your grace,

Please pardon my mistake and  accept  me oh mother

 

16Ammaa  , yenathan arum chei kadhari azhuthidavum   chumma  irunthidum  thaayum ingundo

Thuthithu  unnaye  yemmal iyandra alavum   yethrinom , innum  iranavillayo?Pemman shivanidamn

Pen pol amarntha  perum thaayre, innum   irangavillayo  , Amma innum  irangavillayo?

 

Oh mother wheh her darling baby cries, is there  a mother  who will  keep quite? Praying you ,

As much as possible  we praised  you, Have you still not become kind?Oh mother who sat like a girl

Before   the great lord Shiva, have you still not become kind, Oh mother have you not still  become kind?

 

17.meyyathu  un arut  panikku  arppanithu, yennalum vaazha  vendum.

Thuyya nin thiru pugazh paadiyum pesiyum vaikku   nal unarchi ootta vendyum, uyya

Nin thiruvadikal ullanbudan kandu kankal  kalikka vendum,

Pangayathaal parimalathai parinthu unarnthu magizha  vendum

Vayyakathu vambellam nuzhayaath yen chevikal nin pugazhaye ketkka  vendum

 

I should live always, by offering my body  to your blessed work,

I should speak and sing your pure fame and  add special fervor to my mouth.

I should see  with great love your salvation giving divine feet and my eyes should become happy

I should be able to understand the perfume  of goddess of the lotus flower

And become happy,My ears should never hear all   the gossip of the world

And hear  only your fame.

 

Myyal unthan mel andri mathru yethilum  kollatha  manam yenakkarula vendum

Ayyamellam agathi , un adi  malrkal pathri, amaithiyudan vaazha vendum.

 

Please bless me with a mind that will not love   anyt other  thing except  yourself

After  removing all my doubts,I should catch hold  of flower like feet and live  with peace.
